Name: Chinen Kohaku

Regular Appearance:

At 5'7", Kohaku is taller than average for a Japanese woman, but the near-perpetual slump to her shoulders offsets this. Adding to her frazzled air are her tired eyes, and the way she rarely smiles. She presents herself neatly and professionally though, with tidy straight hair, and simple smart-casual clothing in greys, blacks, browns and other neutral tones.

Subject: History

Personality: To her students and casual acquaintances, Kohaku is a stern, somber and quiet person. She isn't all that expressive, except in the case of mild annoyance or disappointment. This has earned her a reputation as a killjoy. Her reserved and no-nonsense attitude, however, hides a wistful side. She'll still stop to appreciate beauty, stories, or things that remind her of brighter and more hopeful times. Of course, she sees this tendency as useless and a bad habit to break, as it doesn't do to remain stuck in the past.

As a teacher, she's torn between pushing students to do as well as they possibly can (both for their own sakes and because it's her duty), and wanting them to enjoy their youth to some extent while it's still possible.

Bio: Time. It's something many wish away when they're younger, and wonder where it went when they're older. This is painfully true for Kohaku. Like most children, she wished to grow up and embrace the future, despite - or because of - her love for things that recorded moments long gone by. Historical attractions, museums, photography. Especially photography. It fascinated her that such images had stories to tell. Her grandmother, the one who'd inspired this passion in the first place, used to sit with her and show her the photos that had illustrated the family's lives over decades.

The rest of said family, though, didn't support her dream of becoming a professional photographer. According to her parents, it was a childish, unrealistic goal, and she needed to focus on "real" work instead. She held on to her ambition for as long as she could, but when she was 16, her father passed away from cancer. After that, her grandmother changed. No longer warm and supportive, she became colder and stricter, pressuring her to be the perfect academic and live up to her deceased father's ideals. By the time Kohaku went to university, she'd been thoroughly guilt tripped into doing this.

She decided the next best thing was to remain in academia and train as a teacher, sharing her love of history, but as the workload increased, even that became less of a passion and more of a chore. As the years went by, it became clear nothing lasted. She made friends, but between their work and domestic duties, they tended to drift apart. Her studies, and later career, left little time for dating. This left her still unmarried by age 25, to the dismay of her traditionalist family, who grew distant despite her considerable attempts to please them and reflect well on them. She didn't get the chance to rekindle a happier, healthier bond with her grandmother before the latter died of old age. Since then, she's given up on trying to hold on to anything, instead contenting herself with going through the motions of life.

• Drinks far too much coffee (not that it perks her up any).
• Still takes photos of beautiful scenery or those rare few events worth remembering.
• Secretly gay, which is part of why she's still unmarried.

Weapon: A spear shaped like the hand of a clock.

Magic: Kohaku's magic consists of a variety of moves relating to time, which a certain peppy fairy will get her to name.

• Seize the Moment: Kohaku can freeze an object or energy-based attack in time for a few moments, allowing her to dodge, or preventing something from getting broken. This only works on one object at a time, and doesn't work on humans or monsters. Anything under this effect turns sepia toned.
• History Repeats: This creates an "echo" of a weapon attack she or another magical girl used within the last 10 seconds. It appears as a ghostly, translucent image of a weapon, and deals damage. The cooldown duration before this can be used again is another 10 seconds.
• Replay: When she activates this, she can see dreamlike, fleeting images of events that happened in an area up to three hours ago.

Other: She'll only know how to use Seize the Moment at first.

Name: Nōno Izumi

Age: 33

Personality: Izumi does not have an excitable demeanour, instead being very casual and understated. She has an understated warmth to her when she talks. She rarely grins or laughs but always makes you feel welcome. She has a dry, cheeky wit that can match that of any troublesome student. Her in-depth knowledge of anime, video games and geek pop culture may also take many of her students by surprise, as her demeanor and style of dress are very demure, modest and unassuming. New students might even think she's going to be a boring and dry teacher the first time they take her class. But her spirit, passion and sincerity wins them all over in the end.

Bio: Izumi was a very bright student who had always been good with computers, owing to her nerdy passions necessating frequent and heavy usage. One of her particularly skilled hobbies was C++. So much so that in college she studied Network Administration for the sole reason that she didn't want to lose the joy of coding by having it be her gruelling day job.

At the age of 23, she graduated from college and went straight into an office job, being the floor I.T. Admin for the sales team of a big company. While not exactly a black company, Japanese workplace culture was rampant in that office. The more people stayed overtime to meet their deadlines, the more overyime she'd have to do becaue if the network went down, people couldn't do their jobs and she wasn't there, there would be hell to pay. And the more overtime became the norm, the more employees would stay, the more work for her.

It was when she was 29 that one of her friends from college wanted to catch up, and they compared lives, that Izumi woke up to what has happening. She wasn't having fun. She'd lost contact with her friends. She only saw her parents on holidays. She had never been on a single date since college. She barely had time for her hobbies anymore including coding, and most of her free time was spent idly scrolling her phone or watching television. 'recharging' was the term she used to justify a life where she was doing nothing constructive. Even at work, she never got thanked. The same problems came up over and over again with no end and people couldn't do their work, the blame was passed to her.

After this revelation, she quit her job and became an I.T. teacher. She has been working as a teacher for four years now and though it's certainly not easier, she finds it far more fulfilling. Just being able to ee the difference you're making, and being appreciated for it has hugely increased the quality of her life. Teaching basic code doesn't even feel like work to her and she relishes the opportunity to talk about it. She may still be called on if there is an I.T. problem in the school itself but she will always be thanked when she resolves the issue.

Other: Her fashion sense outside of school can range from casual t-shirt and jeans, to a more cosmopolitan brown coat, sweater, skirt, boots dark hose combination. Inside school, however, she almost seems to be dressing old on purpose, conforming to the idea of what 'teacher clothes' were when she was a teenager.


Transformed Appearance:


Weapon/Equipment/Magic: Izumi's equipment consists of four floating robots, a small tablet, and a visor and earpiece, all powered by her magic. The six robots take both her verbal and typed commands, and can both fire energy blasts as well as create personal forefields. Izumi can adjust their power output to either make their functions stronger, or to let them be used for longer periods of time albeit weaker. They can also work together to combine their beams into stronger ones, or chain their forcefields into a wider network of shields, protecting her or any human-sized target. Her earpiece can let her give commands to her robots as well as make or receive phonecalls. Her visor brings up a HUD display in her field of vision, and can scan or track targets.

The real bread and butter of her arsenal, however, is her tablet which is a magical supercomputer that lets her override the security of any other computer she can connect to the network of, as well as automatically creates a database of any enemy she scans, with any info she has managed to gather. It also lets her issue more complicated, written commands and subroutines to her robots.



Other: Izumi may be able to increase the number or size of the robots, as well as their max power output, as she becomes more accustomed to her transformations and grows in magical power. She will also need to figure most of these abilities out herself.

The Mundane

Name: Nakamura Emiko

Age: 32

Regular Appearance:

Emiko has long dark hair that falls into loose waves past her shoulders. She has warm brown eyes that radiate friendliness. She is about average height for a Japanese woman, and has a slim figure.

Emiko’s clothing style is a reflection of her artistic and creative personality. She often opts for outfits that are colorful, expressive, and comfortable. She enjoys mixing and matching different patterns, textures, and colors to create unique ensembles that stand out. You might find her wearing flowing skirts, floral dresses, or pants with intricate designs. Emiko’s wardrobe includes a variety of artistic and handmade accessories, such as statement earrings, beaded bracelets, and unique necklaces. She loves to support local artists and artisans, often wearing pieces she’s collected from art fairs or small craft markets.

Subject: Art

Personality: Emiko’s passion for art is a big part of her her life. Even during her free time, she can often be found drawing, painting, or doing some other type of craft project. She approaches everything with a creative mindset and encourages her students to explore their own artistic talents, and to think outside the box.

Emiko is a dreamer at heart. She dreams of finding love and personal fulfillment in her artistic career. Her dreams are what give her motivation. Emiko has dreams of finding true love. She had a rough childhood, and dreams of having the family she never had. She enjoys romance of all kinds, and often gets invested her students and other teachers love lives. She’s an eternal optimist and can see the good in everything. Although she often lacks common sense, and that can make her come off as ditzy at times.

Emiko is known for her genuine kindness and empathetic nature. She cares deeply about the well-being of others and goes out of her way to support and uplift those around her. She understands the value of providing her students with emotional support along with artistic guidance.

While she outwardly projects confidence, on the inside, she’s actually rather insecure. Even though she wants love for herself, she’s apprehensive about putting herself out there. She fears rejection and can be hesitant to take risks in her personal life. So, she’ll often live vicariously through romance novels, movies, or the people around her. Despite being an art teacher and encouraging her students to embrace their creativity, Emiko’s insecurity can hold her back from taking creative risks herself. She’s hesitant to share her own artwork, or actually try to become an artist outside of teaching for fear of not being good enough.

Bio: Emiko’s childhood wasn’t exactly pleasant. Her father walked out on the family as soon as she was born because he wanted a son. This left Emiko’s mother as her sole caretaker. She worked a very stressful demanding job, and turned to alcohol to ease some of the stress. Of course, the alcohol would often make her drunk and angry, and she would take out her frustrations on Emiko.

Emiko didn’t have a stable or supportive home life, as such, she found solace in her artistic pursuits. From a young age, she would lose herself in creating vibrant and imaginative artworks that allowed her to escape from the troubles of her reality. She wanted to be an artist, but her mother always told her she was wasting her time, and that she should get a real job to support the family.

As soon as she could, she left home for college to study art. Her professors recognized her talent and dedication. She assisted professors and mentors in art-related workshops and classes. This experience opened her eyes to the impact that a passionate and dedicated art teacher could have on students’ lives. It was the most support she ever had. Upon graduating from college with a degree in art, Emiko embarked on a path to become a certified art teacher.

She is happy in her position, although she still wishes for more. She wants to be more successful in the art world, but also a husband, and the supportive and loving family she never had. But even with her accomplishments, her mother’s words still echo in her mind about how she’ll never be good enough.

The Magical

Weapon: A giant paintbrush

Emiko can summon magical paint. She can manipulate that paint for a variety of effects.

Paint Power: Can paint colorful blasts of energy into existence.

Manifestation: Whatever Emiko paints with her giant paintbrush and magical paint can come to life. She can paint small inanimate objects that become functional for five minutes before melting back into regular paint. If she paints something sentient into existence, it will only last for three minutes.

Visual Illusions: Emiko can use the enchanted paint to create intricate illusions, manipulating light and color to deceive the senses. These illusions can serve as distractions, disguises, or even means of communication.

Reality Distortion: Emiko can temporarily alter aspects of reality within a localized area by painting symbols or patterns. This could include creating doors where none exist or changing the properties of surfaces.

Healing Art: Emiko’s magical paint can have healing properties when applied to injuries or ailments.

Barrier Creation: By painting protective symbols or patterns, Emiko can create barriers that shield her or others from harm.

Other: Emiko’s magical form isn’t bound by the insecurities that her human form has.

Name: Hirakawa Shinobu

Age: 32


Occupation: School Counselor

Personality: A notoriously mild-mannered and kindly woman with the patience of a saint. Widely regarded as a pillar of strength and stability for not just the students, but the teachers as well. That's while on the job, though—outside of work, she can be a bit more than a little eccentric. When your heart becomes a bottling plant for the emotions and worries of all your clients and coworkers, you have to learn to let loose once in a while. At the school, she's a voice of reason, but as soon as she's off school property, she's the type to say "sure, why the hell not" when presented with a hare-brained idea. She'll do almost anything besides hard drugs or going home with random guys, and gets along with pretty much everyone. Don't call her work persona a "split personality" though. You'll trigger her inner psychology teacher.

Bio: Shinobu grew up in a broken home, living with her overworked mother and many younger sisters in Osaka while the father whom she hardly knew worked a dead end job in Kyoto. Shinobu herself had to contend not only with her own studies, but with being an older sister and effectively mothering her younger sisters while their own mother was absent from the home most of the time. Her studies were going well but not as excellently as they could have due to her familial duties, until one day the "dead end" nature of her father's job proved too cruelly prophetic, and the only reprieve she regularly received from her elder sister role suddenly passed away, leaving nothing behind but broken hearts and additional stress. Her studies would suffer until her graduation, at which point she found herself staying at home taking care of her younger sisters until they all came of age. By this time, she was in her late twenties, with no marriage or job prospects to speak of.

Desperate for a change, she moved in with her grandparents in Tokyo, and began looking for work. Nothing that she really wanted to do was actually available, so she ended up looking for a job as a psychology teacher, and ended up at Ayame High. It wasn't the best job or the one she wanted, but it was at least not boring. However, her past came back to haunt her, as she simply couldn't stop offering her help to the students. Self-sacrifice had become who she was. After two measly years as a teacher, she quit—not because she'd come to hate the job but because she needed some time to become her own person. She spent two months blowing through her savings, experiencing the night life of Tokyo's youth, until her grandparents smacked some sense into her and she resumed working at Ayame High, this time as a school counselor. A new work-life balance was exactly what she needed to get back to the grind. For the last three years she's spent in this job, she hasn't had a single emotional breakdown or depressive episode that a bit of alcohol couldn't smooth over! Everyone is counting on her, so that's good!

Other:

• Doesn't really want to get married or start another family she might get trapped in. Bisexual, but keeps it low key.
• Still substitutes as the psychology teacher from time to time. The students don't really respect her easygoing nature, though.
• Will drink any of the other girls under the table. Slays in the arcades on the dance floor from time to time.

Fresh Air: A chic handheld folding fan that soothes the nerves and raises the spirits of whoever is fanned by it.

Magic:

• Psychological Projection: Translucent hands will grab, manipulate, apply pressure, throw, or attack objects or enemies according to her will. They look like big, good, strong hands, don't they? Up to four of them can be used at once, but two of them will replace the use of her own hands. She doesn't have the cognitive resources to manipulate six hands. Doing delicate work with four hands at once is also taxing.
• Granfalloon: A shared hypnotic suggestion permeates the group, giving her allies a non-stacking boost to one stat—and delusions of grandeur. This magic is voice-activated, and has an appropriate range of effect and limitations to go with that. She's got one killer voice that can carry quite the distance, though. Turns out, Shinobu used to be a cheerleader. Fair warning, though? Don't invite her to karaoke.
• Hypnotic Gaze: Prolonged eye contact will allow her to mold the minds of her enemies, causing hypnotic suggestions which result in a debuff or status affliction to go along with it. It has a somewhat unpredictable effect, as the hypnotic suggestions may not result in the target acting in exactly the way you'd hoped. The target's mindset changes, but they still have free will. It's not "mind control" as such.
• Inkblot: Randomly pulls something—an object, a weapon, a creature, or even an idea—from the group's imagination, and summons it. This seems like a really bad idea, but honestly, she's here for it. Only one Inkblot can be active at a time, and its manifestations are a truly random selection of whatever happens to be on the mind of a random person nearby. Brings "picking your brain" a whole new meaning.

Other: Her magical girl transformation has a slightly different appearance depending on if she's in "counselor mode" or "party animal mode."

Personality:
Andrew Brown is a practical man with something of a perfectionist streak. He is considered one of the more strict and no nonsense teachers at Ayame High, through he generally makes it very clear to his students at the start of each class why this is the case; The tools and methods employed when working with metal can be very dangerous and cause a great deal of lasting harm if you mess around or do something stupid with them. He is also regarded as a good teacher in that he will actively take the time to make sure that each student knows what they are doing and why... provided that they have an earnest desire to learn or improve themselves. He will try to inspire his students, but if it is clear that someone doesn't want to learn he isn't going to lose any sleep over them.

Outside of the classroom, Andrew is something of a lonely person. Despite living and working in Japan for a few years, he is still considered something of an outsider and it makes forming relationships difficult. Those that make the effort to reach out and get to know him will find a loyal friend that will always try and make time for them, regardless of what is happening... through he is prone to forgetting to talk to people and may need some helpful reminders.

Privately, Andrew is a massive nerd. He has a number of collections in his house, many of which he still needs to put together, decorate or paint. He'll get to it... sooner or later.

Bio:
Originally born in Australia, Andrew grew up there as the youngest child with three older sisters. It was a loving household and while Andrew might not have gotten everything he might have desired, he grew up in a stable environment; Something that he would come to appreciate much later in life when he started to see what happened when that wasn't the case in regards to friends and people he knew.

For a long time, Andrew drifted through life. He didn't really know what he wanted to do with himself and thus didn't really know what direction to push himself into. By chance he stumbled into blacksmithing due to a interest in cosplay. A friend of his at the time had been spending a great deal of their spare time working on a cosplay outfit over a matter of months, but found themselves hitting a bit of a dead end due to not having the time, resources or desire to learn how to work metal for some decorative details and the prices to get such things commissioned was rather high.

Having nothing better to do and unemployed at the time, Andrew offered to help out and took a course on metalworking. He found himself enjoying it so much that once he had helped his friend out, he started something of a by commission business out of helping out with cosplays and the like. In time he started getting commissions for fantasy blades or weapons for collectors. He was even a contestant on the reality TV show 'Forged in Flame' and even made it to the final round, but his weapon was a bit heavier then that of the other guy and it was a close enough call that the judges needed to dig deep to decide a winner.

The decision to go into teaching, let alone do it in Japan, were kind of connected. His showing on Forged in Flame had given him a bit of renown in his field, but he was nowhere near well known enough to make a living purely off of his commission based occupation. He needed another job... and teaching was something that he could do, through it would take a few years of study in order be qualified as one. Once he was qualified and started looking for work as a teacher, by chance one of the jobs he came across was for Ayame High in Japan...

Having always wanted to go to Japan and seeing this as a chance to kill several birds with one stone since it was to teach metalworking to teenagers, Andrew applied and was accepted.

Other:
Rumor has it among the student body that Mr Brown is romantically involved/interested with one of the other teachers at the school. Exactly whom that may be is up for debate; It isn't strange for students to discuss possible 'ships' that they think would be adorable or work out, often with their own biases of favorite teacher.

Andrew Brown is in an interesting position magic wise. Due to Lux's inexperience and panic in her first ever crisis, she hadn't noticed that there had been a male teacher in the room with the others. As a man, he couldn't become a magical girl or gain magical abilities... however, he had been awakened to the magical world all the same.

The Mundane

Name: Misugi Aiko

Age: 28

Regular Appearance:



Aiko prefers to dress in a modest and traditional (or as her students say, “old fashioned”) manner. She doesn’t actually need her glasses, but likes to wear them because she thinks they give her a more professional appearance.

Subject: Music

Personality: Aiko is a demure and soft spoken young woman who is always quick to offer a kind word of encouragement, or piece of helpful advice. Serene and gentle, most students believe Miss Misugi doesn’t have a single mean bone in her body. Polite in the extreme, she never yells, and rarely even raises her voice, content to speak in the warm and tranquil tone that has become her trademark. Ironically, her calm demeanor seems to sooth her students to such a degree, that any disruptions that might warrant a harsher, more forceful approach never even occur in the first place.

Bio: The youngest child of a family of musicians, it seemed only natural that Aiko would take up an instrument of her own. However, the Misugis were also a highly traditional family, and all modern musical genres and instruments were heavily frowned upon. If Aiko was to play, it would be a proper instrument, used to create proper music. For her part, Aiko seemed to accept this, and her natural talent for the violin won her the praise of her teachers and family. She was always the perfect student, the perfect daughter, getting good grades and dutifully obeying her parents’ every wish. But Aiko had a secret…

In her final year of high school, she had met Kuroko, a new transfer student. Brash, loud, crude, and carefree, she was everything Aiko was not, yet, somehow, the two became fast friends. They took care to keep that friendship hidden, of course, since both were well aware of what would happen if Aiko’s parents ever found out about the company she was keeping. It was certainly a bit of a challenge, but Aiko soon came to find the subterfuge oddly exciting. She would tell her parents she was studying at the library, or doing some other innocuous thing, when, in reality, she was hanging out with Kuroko and her friends. Sometimes, if it was too late for those excuses to be feasible, she would even straight up sneak out. After she’d been fully disguised by a new outfit, make up, and even a wig, Aiko would tag along as they went to arcades, karaoke lounges, and sometimes even clubs. Thanks to Kuroko’s fake IDs, they could get into all sorts of places. It all provided her with a freedom she had never imagined, and she found herself loving every minute of it.

This double life would reach its crescendo when Kuroko decided to form a band. Because Aiko had the most amazing voice out of the group, she would be the lead singer, a prospect that was initially frightening, but soon became exhilarating. Although she had performed on stage before, those had been formal, refined affairs. Now, instead of a reserved and stoic audience, she stood before riotous, deafening crowds. Instead of a violin played with precision and grace, she now shredded an electric guitar with wild abandon. And instead of remaining silent and demure, she belted out harsh lyrics at the top of her lungs. Being able to become a completely different version of herself, the real version of herself, was immensely liberating for Aiko, but, sadly, it was not to last.

Kuroko had always lived her life without a single care for the consequences of her actions, taking insane risks without batting an eye, and, just before graduation, the inevitable occurred. One of her rivals had challenged her to a motorcycle race on a rain-lashed mountain road, and although Aiko had begged her not to go through with it, Kuroko had been insistent. She knew it was dangerous, but if she backed out, she would never be able to live with herself. She had sworn a long time ago to meet every challenge head on, and this one would be no exception. Tears filled Aiko’s eyes as she watched Kuroko ride off into the rainy night, already knowing in her heart that it would be the last time she would see her friend alive.

Kuroko’s death brought with it the death of Aiko’s secret life. At university, she closed herself off to her true passions, putting on the tranquil facade of the perfect young lady she had grown so accustomed to. What was the point of pursuing what she loved, when such things only reminded her that Kuroko was gone? No, instead she would devote herself entirely to being the daughter her parents wanted, only pursuing music of a serene and elegant nature, not only to appease her family, but also in the hopes that it might wash away her past self and the agonizing pain that went with it. For the most part, she has been successful in this. Having gone into education as a music teacher, Aiko does her best to impart a love of the more soothing and harmonious aspects of music to her students, yet, deep within her heart there still remains a desire to encourage them to be true to themselves, even if she is unable to do the same for herself.

Other: Her old double life remains a closely guarded secret, with none save her former friends/bandmates having any knowledge of who she used to be. That said, she still has an irrational fear of one of them potentially spilling the beans about it, and the fact that she severed all ties with them in the wake of Kuroko’s death hasn’t helped matters.

The Magical

Transformed Appearance:



Weapon: A jagged-edged electric guitar, which serves as the instrument (pun intended) via which most of her magic is cast. Several sharp spikes, and even twin razorblades, can also magically extend from it, turning it into an ax in a very literal sense.

Magic: Aiko’s magic is based on the rock music (a mix of punk and metal) that she used to play in Kuroko’s band.

• Epic Shredding- Aiko goes nuts with her guitar and produces a series of sonic-based ranged attacks.

• Sonic Blast- Raising her pick high above her head and then bringing it crashing down against the strings in a mighty sweep, Aiko creates a massive wave of sonic energy.
  .
• Pyrotechnics- An additional set of effects capable of being added to either of the previously listed attacks, Aiko can cause a rapid-fire stream of blazing sparks, crackling arcs of lightning, and gouts of flame to shoot out of her guitar.

• Crank it up to 11- A last ditch super move, this allows Aiko to overcharge her normal attacks and conjures a par of flaming skulls to further augment them with the speakers mounted in their eye sockets.

Other: In her transformed state, Aiko looks and acts like a completely different person, in particular, an older version of the badass punk rocker persona she used during her time in Kuroko’s band. She even goes by the stage name she used in those days, “Nails” (chosen because her father once said the kind of music they played sounded like “nails on a chalkboard”). However, despite her harsher demeanor, she remains the same kind and caring person at heart, willing to do anything for the sake of her students.

The Mundane

Name: Tanaka Aya

Age: 31

Regular Appearance:
Standing around 5'6, Aya has a fit and athletic build which is due to years of training in her grandfather's dojo. Aya is actually a mixed heritage with her father being Japanese and her mother hailing from China. She takes more after her father in appearance, but her eyes closely resemble her mother's wise upturned gaze. Aya prefers to wear her hair down, but ties it back into a ponytail when she's teaching class or working out. Her typical in-school attire consists of an Ayame High t-shirt, track pants, and running shoes. Outside of class she prefers to dress more effeminately; opting for skirts or dresses in a range of colors. Despite her lithe appearance, she actually harbors an unusual amount of strength for her size.

Subject: P.E. Teacher

Personality: Aya has a cheerful motherly persona that enables her to make quick friends with almost any of the students. She views her students as if they were her own kids and encourages them to come to her if they're having difficulties. During classes, Aya becomes the biggest cheerleader for her students and drives them to push their limits and become stronger, much like she was taught when she was their age. However... this loving personality will shatter in an instant if Aya thinks any of her students are hurt or in trouble. Gone will be the supportive P.E. teacher and she turns into a being other teachers can only describe as the "she-devil". Using her training, Aya will hunt down the problem bothering her 'kids' and see that it's dealt with. One way or another.

In addition, Aya is also something of a hopeless romantic. She has long since wanted to settle down and have a family of her own, but her unusual strength and intense personality will get in her way more often than not. When not at school, Aya can often be found getting drunk at a local bar in Tokyo, or at home reading trashy romance novels.

Bio: Born into a mixed household, Aya's father was a well-known doctor who met her mother while on a trip to mainland China. Hailing from a long line of martial artists on her mother's side, Aya and her younger brother spent many summers in their grandparents' home in China learning their family's karate style. The young girl quickly picked up the skills and was deemed a prodigy by her family. Despite leading her high school to the national championships in martial arts and being scouted for a top university, Aya's rapidly developed strength and frequent trips away from home began to make her a social outcast among her peers. Many students viewed her as a 'freak' and this left her with a strong desire to just fit in and be a normal girl.

Keeping these desires to herself, Aya continued her martial arts career through college, but you could tell her heart wasn't in it. A string of bad luck in her dating life didn't help things either. After losing a fight in nationals that would have been an easy victory, she was visited by her grandfather after the match. Irate that his own granddaughter could lose to a "rank amateur", he demanded an explanation. His anger turned to shock when Aya's frustrations boiled over and she shouted she'd lost her passion for the sport. Shortly after this blowout, Aya was challenged by her grandfather to a match. If she won, he'd give her his blessing to leave the dojo and pursue her own goals.

The two traded blows for nearly three hours before Aya's grandfather finally yielded. Sensing her resolve, the old man honored her wishes and Aya was free to choose her own path. Meanwhile, her brother became the inheritor of the family dojo. After finishing her studies, Aya decided she wanted to try her hand at being a teacher. She quicky earned her teaching license and got certified to be a physical education teacher.

Ever since getting a job as a P.E. teacher at Ayame high, Aya has found a new fulfillment in her life. Rather than striving for some unattainable goal of perfection, she can just be the passionate supporter for the kids. She still harbored many of her regrets about her own high school years and will flip out into her 'she-devil' mode if she senses any students are being ostracized or put in harms way by anybody be they students, faculty, or an outside group.

Other:
-Aya's love of the romance genre has recently gotten her into gaming. She mainly plays visual novels or beat 'em ups.
-Despite saying she wants to settle down, Aya has begun to give up the possibility of finding love. She actively enjoys being the "cool aunt" to her brother's kids (and seeing her beat their dad up when they spar ;)
-Being one of the more sociable teachers at the school, Aya will often ask her co-workers if they wanna meet up for a drink outside of the job. However, news of her high tolerance has spread fast around the school and few can actually keep up with her.

The Magical

Transformed Appearance:
Aya's transformed appearance blends elements of her past and present into a beautiful visage. Her dress resembles a traditional Chinese cheongsam, but retains a loose elegant nature that embodies Aya's ideals of beauty and freedom. Her changes into a mix of Chinese and Japanese styles to exemplify finding her own path.

Weapon: In this form, Aya wields a pair of glowing white ethereal gauntlets she refers to as the "Fists of the Maiden". With them, her already impressive strength in doubled and she can lift and carry weights much heavier than her own. A test of the fists even showed they're strong enough to punch holes through solid metal!

When not transformed, the fists are disguised as a pair of fingerless gloves on Aya's person. When she needs to transform, Aya slams gloves together and she assumes her magical girl form!

Magic: Due to being a brawler, Aya's skills lie more on the physical side of combat. However, that doesn't mean she lacks any magical abilities.

Shotput Bomb: Focusing her "Fighting Spirit" into her palms, Aya creates a dense ball of energy and fires it like a shotput at her enemy. The bomb explodes on impact.
Full Throttle: When Aya gets REALLY angry, she throws everything into her punches and unleashes a barrage of energy blasts shaped like her fists.
Pump it Up!: By cheering on her teammates, Aya can spur their natural growth and increase their physical capabilities. Her allies become stronger, faster, and much more durable. Eventually, she can unlock her friends' hidden potential.
Teacher's Aid: When friends or students get injured Aya can use the Fists of the Maiden to heal wounds. In order to do so, she must have physical contact with her target and the Fists must remain connected until the wound is closed.

Other:
- In this transformed state, Aya's 'she-devil' persona comes out in full force. The idea that anything could hurt her kids is something that enrages her and she refuses to let them be harmed.
- The Fists of the Maiden actually cover Aya's hands like a glowing armor, but she can dispel them while in this state if she needs to interact with people or things around her.
- If Aya can control her more destructive tendencies, Lux has informed her this could be the gateway to uncovering greater power and discerning her 'purpose'.

The Mundane

Name: Bianchi, Amber

Age: 44

Regular Appearance:

Like any proper Italian, Amber has a fantastic dress sense. Unlike a proper Italian, the way she dresses just barely conforms to school guidelines. She’ll wear a sweater with a low neckline, only to wear a tank underneath to hide her cleavage (as to not “spill” while bowing towards students.) Sometimes she dips more into business casual than formal, and how good her hair is depends on what time of day you check in on her. She looks pretty good in the morning, with her hair becoming all bent and frizzled by the evening.

Subject: Home Economics

Personality: Amber is gruff. She is no student’s favorite teacher as she lacks the bubbly, jovial nature most of the Japanese teachers have. She takes her class seriously and expects her students to do the same. That’s not to say that her classes aren’t well taught. They are made to be as engaging as possible. But Amber knows none of the children will remember her a year from now, and she probably won’t remember them either. She’s just here to give them the skills they need to survive out in the world.

Japanese people tend to view westerners as a little rowdy, and that’s not incorrect for Amber. She’s very hard on delinquents and bullies, and god help you if the student you just gave a wedgie to informs Amber about it. Best case scenario she yells at you. Worst case scenario she does nothing, only to show up at your home while you’re eating dinner to tell your parents how shameful your behavior is. She used to take things a bit further in the past, but no longer does as it gets her in trouble with the principle.

Amber doesn’t go out of her way to get to know the other teachers very well. She’ll greet them in the morning and show up to meetings, but is content to stay out of their lives. She’s a busy body that always has somewhere to be and can only allow so much time on any given interaction. Most who know her regard her as a hard worker that could stand to be a little more polite.

Bio: Amber was born in Italy, but her parents moved to the states while she was quite young. Mr Bianchi was quite the engineer and specialized in the kind of plastic manufacturing plants that were being built in Texas at the time. He did a lot of traveling, but his lucrative job easily supported his family. So well that Mrs Bianchi could spend her days raising their children. They never entered public school as Mrs Bianchi wanted to teach them all herself. She got a hold of all the textbooks and all of her children did very well. The only issue with homeschooling was that none of them had a high school diploma to show their efforts. Once they were of age, they needed to find entry level jobs to get experience and support themselves. College was getting expensive, and Mr Bianchi couldn’t put all three of his children through college. Amber begrudgingly took on a job working retail at a bargain clothes outlet.

That was where she encountered Jomei, her future husband. The boy had taken a shining to Amber, and it wasn’t hard to see why. She was a blond bombshell with a chipper personality. Jomei was a mysterious foreign stud who could speak English better than some of the locals. He was brash and unashamed. The second time he met Amber he asked her out on a date. When she said she was working, he proceeded to stick around the store, occasionally buying things to appear as a normal customer. He even got some Chinese takeout that they ate together during her lunch hour. He was rebellious, and she felt liberated being around him. But he was only in America because of his student visa, and planned to return to Japan someday soon. Amber could keep on working this dead end job, or she could go on an adventure with Jomei. Visit strange new lands, experience cultures, all with a boy that loved her. Amber was 18 when she moved to Japan, and got married in the same year. She gave birth to her first child not even a year later. She was so happy she decided to get out of America.

But it wasn’t meant to last.

Jomei grossly overestimated his ability to sustain a family, and it wasn’t like Amber could bring in the cash as a retail worker. The financial pressure put a lot of strain on their relationship, but Amber refused to get a divorce. Unfortunately for her, it’s not difficult for a Japanese native to file for divorce without their foreign spouse’s consent. She lost custody of her two boys, had no place to live, and had no way to support herself. She was only allowed to live and work in japan because she was married to Jomei. She did not know if she was going to have enough money to buy a flight out of Japan, let alone pay child support. But Amber was too proud to return to her family for help, and too stubborn to let herself get kicked out of Japan.

As it turned out, all of those skills her mother had taught her so long ago made her perfectly suitable for teaching Home Economics and doing odd jobs. Not only that, but there were a lot of things she didn’t have to pay people for because she could do them herself. She was even able to get her marriage visa turned into a work visa so that she could do all of this legally. But it was a lot of work, and she didn’t have much time for leisure or relationships. After a few decades, the bubbly young girl turned into a bitter middle-aged woman. Her dreams of going on an adventure or finding love died with the young woman she used to be.

Other:

• Amber is distrustful of most Japanese natives, but reveres the principle. They helped her out when she was at her weakest.
• Some of her odd jobs involve patching clothes, working in soup kitchens, and running street stalls.
• Amber hasn’t spoken with her family since she was 18.
• Likes having her nose booped, but will still retaliate to keep up appearances.
• She might be romanceable, but I discourage it.

The Magical

Transformed Appearance:

Her magical form makes her appear a bit younger. Only a bit.

Weapon: Masterwork Great-Bag-of-Infinite-Holding +5 - A giant, durable backpack that’s larger than the tiny adventurer carrying it. It’s heavy and durable enough that it can be used to block attacks. It also comes with various cooking instruments that can double as more practical weapons such as a ladle, frying pan, a mixing spoon, and several small utensils. But Amber’s favorite weapon to use is the pantaku, which is a pair of frying pans bound together with a chain. She can only use it properly when she isn’t wearing her backpack. Alternatively, she can use some vegetables as ranged weapons, like carrots and turnips.

Magic:

• Hammerspace - Amber can reach into her bag of holding and draw any mundane item she can think of. The only limit is that it has to be something she’s come in contact with at least once and can’t be larger than her bag.
• Mend - Amber’s magic sewing bag lets her use her sewing needle and thread to fix anything. That includes non-cloth items like steel and glass.
• Alchemic Genius - Amber can quickly brew potions of Strength, Speed, and Durability. But a recipient of a potion may only be under the effect of a single buff at any one time. She can also brew more harmful things such as potions of alchemic fire, poison, and fog. Her star ladle can be used to lob these potions great distances.
• Adventure Financing - Amber can pull golden coins out of her bag of holding and throw them. Minions of the shroud seem to be attracted to them, and are more likely to attack magical girls that are holding them.

Other: Amber goes by the title “Oros the Shrewd” when she’s in her magical girl form, and tends to be far more optimistic. Like a brave adventurer facing the dangers of a dungeon. Her magical girl form looks unusual because she brewed a “potion of lemur” when she first awakened her powers. The potion gave her a youthful appearance, but some unusual animal traits. Her nose can also be safely booped in this form.

Yui never knew her parents. She had been either abandoned or lost them somehow, and so the one person that actually took care of her was the old woman she got to call 'Gran'. She was the woman taking care of the Orphanage Yui had been taken into and who later adopted Yui as her own. Gran was the kindest person Yui ever knew and was responsible for the paragon of hope and selflessness that Yui grew up to become. Since as far as anyone can remember, Yui strived to be like a lighthouse for those people lost in the fog of despair.

Her years as a young teenager were rather... complicated, and many tumultuous events took place that led her to discover a long lost sister with whom they had a falling out, and that event alone was the single most marking event in her life at the time... but the grand details of that complicated story are now consigned to memory alone, remnants of what seemed like another lifetime.

Or so she thought.

A grown up Yui had been building up her life for quite some time now and actually did good for herself; Her own little apartment, a decent job as a teacher at a local school as well as a steady boyfriend with whom she is now living with and engaged to. Her dream had always been of being able to save up enough to open her own Orphanage and finally be able to give back all the love and care that her own caretaker gave. All in all, the last decade had been relatively calm for Yui...

...but it was about to change.

Yui's magic is at the same time very simple but also malleable and comes in two forms; Life and Light.

Light
Light represent Hope. In magical form, it gives Yui the ability to conjure up semi translucent constructs generally in the shape of flowers which she use to various effects like defense, offense and mobility.

Life
Life represent the future. In magical form, it gives Yui the capacity to grow plants and control those. She does not control existing plants, but infuse Life into new creations born of her magic and tied to her.

Personality: Hata is a calm and collected woman that has learned to take the trials of teaching in stride. She has a sharp wit when her professionalism allows it. Students have learned over time that Mrs. Harper expects results, is willing to help you get there, but will let you fail if you don't put in the work. Some are convinced that somewhere under that sweet smile and caring eyes is a hardened individual.

Bio: Hata is the third daughter of Evan and Masuda Atkinson. The last name coming from her father, who was an American stationed in Japan. The country in the 1950s saw an enormous amount of cultural influence from the United States, something that Hata grew up knee-deep in as a Japanese American. Though born in Japan, she was a military brat so over the years it was common that the family would move from one base, or country, to be wherever her father was stationed.

These frequent trips around the world meant that Hata got to see a lot of places and people that most didn't get the chance to experience. This of course left a lasting impression as travel became a staple of Hata's. Upon completing her schooling, the young woman sought out employment that would allow her to see the world, eventually landing (pun intended) on the job as a flight attendant. To say that she's been to many places would be an understatement. Even now, she could talk your ears off with stories.

It is well known that Mrs. Harper is a widow, though she is very cagey with details about her husband or what had happened. It is standard procedure for her to brush off speaking about it whenever the topic arises. The rumor mill tells tale that her husband's passing was the reason she returned to Japan for good. Gossip aside, Hata pursued teaching, and Geography in particular, as it was still a passion of hers even if she no longer traveled. She has served in this capacity for 15 years now, though only the last 4 have been at Ayame High.

• Wouldn't consider herself an activist, but is fairly staunch about environmental conservation.

• While she doesn't let on, Hata was trained in self-defense by her father.

Weapon: A magical globe.

Magic:
Wild tangles of lush leafy hair sprout forth from her once grey locks, the warm tones of terra ferma darken her skin, and the vast blue of the deep flow through her clothing to form a dress. Hata embodies the planet she's learned and taught about for years. Her magic revolves around the various climates and environmental conditions across the world. To cast a particular spell, she must tap on an equivalent point on the globe to draw out its effect.

• Arid Waste (Deserts): An abrasive snarl of sand. It manifests as a whirlwind of granules that obscure vision and scour things in the area.
• Creeping Vine (Jungles): A tangle of vines spring up from the ground to restrain and hinder movement through an area. Or maybe it could be used to climb up a wall or something. Somewhat depends on how Hata needs to use it.
• Squall (Tropics): A torrent of wind and water blasts its way out, emanating from Hata herself. It can be used to push away a target, extinguish a fire, or whatever else a wall of furious water droplets could do. However, it synergizes quite well with the next spell...
• Permafrost (Arctic Circle): A bone chilling flurry of ice and snow that aims to freeze solid anything in its path.

Other:

• When unattended, her magical globe orbits around her, so it is always close at hand.
• Hata's past comes back with a vengeance when transformed. Gone is the calm, quiet old lady, and in comes a focused and driven young girl. As a planner with fewer inhibitions, she may come off as bossy as she attempts to rally her fellow magical teachers.
