At first Jub just has that worn out reaction when he tries to recall anything about Darklings. It's a similar reaction to a student trying to answer a question after hours of studying only to give up with an exasperated "I don't know!"

Thanks to Brutrumukk's encouragement, Jub does recall a few things about darklings.

Darklings are cursed fey who dwell in dark areas, such as caves. They cover their bodies in dark clothes every time they go out into the sun. Jub recalls that these things are necessary for them because their curse causes them to absorb light. When they absorb light, they essentially grow older and wizened. When they die, the light they absorb over the course of their life explodes outward, incinerating the Darkling, their possessions, and anyone near it.

Jub also recalls that they love art and its beauty. They'll even take a risk out in the light to see art.

If a Darkling is wise and respected, they qualify to undergo a ritual to become a Darkling Elder. Darkling Elders grow into a tall and fair form, like that of a grey-skinned elf.
