Still watching the Daryl Dixon TWD spinoff. It's a decent show if you like character development, but plot pacing is rough. I feel it has holes and that there is too much left out at times, which requires you have to watch multiple episodes just to understand what happened in prior episodes. Honestly, unless they intend to explain things in the season finale, then they're definitely going to need that second season they've greenlit.

After watching a music video of Arvo Pärt’s Salve Regina set to clips from the 1994 Hungarian movie called Sátántangó, I decided that dragging my husband through the seven hour experience would be a great idea, although daunting. I made it through Gone with the Wind, so what was another couple hours?

Unfortunately, neither of us have the time to sit through an entire screening and are watching it in increments as time allows. So, we watxchwd it in increments.

The movie is phenomenal. I am an avid foreign film watcher. My husband is not. We were both thoroughly engrossed in the movie.

Critiques have dubbed the movie “The Mount Everest for cinephiles” and a “microscopic view of the human condition.” I am not a movie-buff by any means, but I can’t help to full heartedly agree that the directing captures a war-torn Hungary marvelously

It’s slow paced. It’s purposefully shot in black-and-white. Every shot is beautiful and natural and perfectly imperfect. The method acting is grotesquely interesting. And, the suspense is enchanting.

I really want to read the novel, now.

Finally watched Army of Darkness for the first time this year. I always knew I would love this movie but I was glued to the screen. Ash is such a fun hero for a horror film and in general, I think comedy and horror mix well and this movie shows that to me.

@Birdboy Army of Darkness (and by extension Evil Dead 2) absolutely would not have worked with any other actor. Bruce Campbell brings everything needed for the character and then some.

@Gelatinous CubeI wholeheartedly agree. He's got the expressiveness of Jim Carrey but he's also got the smolder!

Starting the second half of FTWD's final season. Honestly, I kind of still don't care for this season's plot/characters, especially because:

In other news, I'm still on that Adventure Time grind. About a little over halfway through all the seasons in regards to my rewatch of the series.

The Marvels is out now and has been getting panned pretty badly. Without Infinity War and End Game to bookend it it also sold like nothing.

Although I've heard the younger girl, Iman Vellani, was the best part of the movie and was also the best part of her show, Ms. Marvel, on Disney+

It's a really iffy movie, imo. It has tonal problems, and the dialogue feels stiff at times. It makes sense for Kamala since she's an awkward teen meeting her idol, but otherwise the movie is really eh when it comes to dialogue.

We just watched The Pez Outlaw.

The documentary/drama highlights the capitalist and legal loopholes of America, while also dabbling into the collector’s mindset and hobby.

It was entertaining. It was quirky. It was silly. It was also a bit goofy. I recommend it.

Fun Fact: The film shows an interesting perspective on bipolar disorder.

I haven't watched much media as of late. But I did convince my folks *not* to go see The Hunger Games prequel. So I consider that a win.

Instead, we saw Godzilla Minus One, and I think everyone enjoyed it. It clearly wants you to care about the characters first, and I think they handle those moments well. To the point that some of its more "convenient/cliché" storytelling didn't ruin the entertainment. Since it tried to explain or imply explanations for most of its more implausible beats. And some of the CGI shots (like one with fairly fake looking tanks) is still miles above most of Disney's 100 million dollar marvel movie CGI.

And it's going to be the best movie you'll get out of Godzilla for a while. No faith in pink Godzilla.

The new Zack Snyder movie being his version of Star Wars and being worse than any Star Wars thing will never not be funny to me. Love him or hate him the guy has somehow managed to convince people that his career filmograpgy of "smashing together my action figures in slow motion" is somehow deep and artistic and cinema when in fact it is just him smashing together action figures.

I tried to watch 'Rebel Moon.' Thirty minutes in, I gave it up.

Over the holidays I took a second run at 'Blue Eye Samurai,' and I'm truly glad I did. The visuals and animations are quite beautiful...so much so that first time around I missed some really entertaining subtleties in the plot and character interactions. 4 hacked limbs out of 5.

I tried watching Lady Ballers because as one of those supposed easily triggered leftists that the Daily Wire is convinced are ruining the world I wanted to be outraged. Instead I turned it off after like 40 minutes because it wasn't funny and I watched Joy Ride again instead and that was funny.

Reacher 'Season 2' seems to be following the general rule of when modern shows actually get a good season of television. The fight choreography, the dialogue, the acting, it's all notably worse the second time around.

I really don't want to watch this anime season. But I will probably try to watch the anime season. Because a few random shows that I had no interest in last time turned out be watchable. Not great. But passable entertainment. That I'm finally getting around to catching up on.

Saw the Beekeeper movie a few days ago. It ended up being a really "meh" movie, which was disappointing since I had planned on seeing it after watching the preview. Half the cast is a "literally who"/"why should I even care about this character", parts of the plot struggle to make even the littlest sense and the bee puns are so forced (haha get it guys the movie is called beekeeper get it haha). It's an okay time killer, though (especially if you give any shit about Jason Statham).
