Carnatia de Luson

As the Golem dealt with her mirror image, Carnatia noticed that it was making a deliberate attempt to avoid striking at the support pillars, Carnatia surmised that it was programmed to not damage the structure of this place. Which suggested that those pillars would make effective shields.

Focusing her mind to perceive the golem's next attack as much as possible through her prescient defence, Carnatia ran towards the golem, using the pillars as a cover. She emerged, having cast her mirror image once more, her rapier coated in disenchanting magic. She wouldn't be able to disenchant the golem in a single strike, but perhaps it was just the crystal, she might be able to shut it down or prevent it from exploding.

Keeping her attention of the golem's attacks, both those presently happening and those she foresaw through her prescient defence, Carnatia moved in, attempting to disable the crystal.

Fia Blackfire

Fia barely moved as the golem was charging forward. She saw it pivot as it ran her direction. Fia had something prepared for when it got close, but she also had clear view of everyone else reacting to the construct as it ran by. Each martial fighter still on the ground leapt into action. Everyone was a road block in one form or another. Engelbert attempted to stall it. Gray Flame used his arrows. Rezello swooped in at its back, bringing the golem to its knees. Fia stood still as the golem caught itself barely a few meters in front of her. Her hair rustled as the slight breeze from the falling mechanism crashed. And then to finish it off, Nanashi arrived, driving the golem into the ground with his one attack. Furthermore, the eccentric man of few words managed to make the stone bleed. Fia was impressed.

“My dear Gray. Can’t you see? Our artificial friend here is having a heat stroke. The poor boy cannot even speak properly.” said Fia. She started to walk around the machine, closer to the bookshelves. As she moved, the icy fragment she had prepared started to dissolve into a condensed cloud of shifting particles. At the same time, the orb wandered near that hand, the particles starting to orbit the magical glass artifact. “Perhaps I can ice those wounds of yours. You don’t seem to be in good shape.”

The icy collection of particles was released as a stream. Fia targeted the joints of the machine directly. With its knee as busted as it was, she had a better chance of landing her focused attack. She went for the already iced leg, rapidly building ice around the joints as exothermic magic seeped into any crevices the joint might have. The temperature might not mean anything to the construct, but to have several layers of solid ice fill in each gap and crevice around the joint, it would add continuous resistance making bending the limb that much harder if not impossible.

The angle for the shot wasn't that great, but one of the arrow managed to lodge itself into the molten gap on the golem's armor anyway. It burst aflame, not looking like it had achieved anything with the immediate vicinity of the damaged region already damaged quite severely.

Tillius' javelin that found its way to the other side of the gaping hole met much of the same result, the projectile burning from the sheer temperature of the wound. If the golem registered any damage it showed no sign of doing anything about it, having higher priority matters it had to attend to.

A moment of prescience willed Carnatia to duck really low, an instinctual reaction from her combat experience as the mirror images charged forward. A titanic counterblow whipped mere inch over her form, passing through the illusory fighters and the pillar they used as cover, shrapnel of stone and gravel loudly bouncing off Rezello's armored form. Without missing a beat the noble duelist sprung forth, a singular precision strike landing dead center at the golem's cyclopean eye.

A crisp crack echoed, like the sound of breaking glass stretched over several long seconds. Stream of frost engulfed the golem as it staggered back, liquefied stone splashing and summarily igniting the bookshelves behind it. Whether it was from the pure physical force or the spellbreaking strike, the crimson glow of the singular eye had turned into a dozen fractured fragments.

Yet the ominous light was not extinguished.

Instead it spread, a spiderweb of crimson lines that pulsated upward from one spot at the center of the torso and another slightly lower. The wave of energy travelled up, past the wound that looked like it should be the location of a third core, a good chunk of the mana dispersing chaotically out of the molten rend in the form of blood-red crackle of lightning. Yet despite the blatant inefficiency a portion of the mana did found its final destination, the lines spread across the head taking an intense glow as if it housed a miniature sun within.

There, leaning against a burning bookshelf with its limbs frozen shut, the golem craned its head as if to survey the intruders. A dozen flash of dim red spread, fractured version of the scanning cone from earlier that barely functioned now, yet still enough for its final purpose.

"T.TER.M.NA.E INN.ERS."

Not too far away, Engelbert was already up on his feet and sprinting to rejoin the battle. Whether he'd make it in time was suspect at best, but it's the thought that counts. Probably.

As his job done. The shinobi ceased his demonic aura as the shura's fire aura faded away from his whole body silhouette and his blade. Sheathed his blade and dashed into the lone elven woman for accompany. He will stay still for her barrier calling.

The Gray Flame

Gray Flame sat another arrow to the bow and carefully positioned himself not far from that pillar.

To be frank, he actually wanted to slack off and let the fatigue in his hand go away first before doing any action, But right now, with the fire spreading, and the golem charging up its ultimate weapon, well...he simply couldn't.

"Hey, get out of the Killzone!" He shouted and pulled the string of his bow to its proper, and fullest draw. A faint spark of white flame flickered on the tip of his arrowhead and coated it with a silverish gleam.

The arrow flew with a distinctive supersonic crack, like the sound of a whip or firearm being discharged indoors, it created a spiral trail of dust on its relatively short travel toward the golem's crystal eye.

The powershot struck with force way beyond what a mundane bow could, the golem's head snapped back in a whiplash upon impact. It remained in place for several long seconds, yet with seemingly great difficulty it rigidly rose to the original position. The arrow had sunken several inches into the face, right at the spot Carnatia had struck earlier. Several shards of the shattered eye had came loose, uneven crystals gleaming with potent energy that clattered on the stone floor.

Errant mana bleed out of the faceplate, crackling red not dissimilar to the wounds on the chest. But even then the pulsation did not cease. Mana continued to build up, deep humming thrum that echoed as it travelled from the core to the head... no, something was different. The bottom core was visibly dimmer than a few moment earlier, though whatever implication it had was up to individual interpretations.

Roxas

Roxas glanced to Nanashi as he came to her, then looked to the others. Something was happening. She wasn't sure what, but maybe now was the time to put up the barrier..? She gave a groan as she made an internal debation before she gave a louder groan.

She steadied herself, holding her hands out and mumbling softly to herself. As she did, her charm on her quiver slowly brightened as she pulled mana from the environment. She kept her hands in front of herself, as a silvered ball started to form.

Once she was done, a thin line shot up from the ball and a barrier cascaded around her and Nanashi in a 30 foot radius. She looked to everyone through the barrier, swallowing thickly. "Barrier up! Everyone not fighting inside! I'll hold it up as long as I can, never know what that thing will do!"

Chaos unfolded, what a joy! Vesemir had been in many expeditions, and sure as hell this kind of occasion was almost a staple. But he thrived in chaos, or to be exact, in its aftermath, or when somebody else were busy with it.

So, taking advantage of the Golem's attention that was not fixed on him, the renowned archeologist gripped the mysterious card again. He had taken a scenic route through the left bookcase alleyways, safe from the ongoing fight, and allowed his eyes to feast on Theriadore's ancient collection before heading toward the door, which bluntly rejected his attempt to enter by sanding out a bored announcement:

🇦🇨🇨🇪🇸🇸 🇩🇪🇳🇮🇪🇩, 🇹🇭🇪 🇫🇦🇨🇮🇱🇮🇹🇾 🇮🇸 🇮🇳 🇱🇴🇨🇰🇩🇴🇼🇳

Frowning after sending off a cursory glance at the ongoing battle, the monocled elf deducted that one, his card is still a valid key, and two, defeating the golem would unlock the door.

It was such a shame that they couldn't just deactivate it. He raised his hand and witnessed how the people he hired exchanged blows with the stony guardian. Arrows were fired, spears thrown and swords swung, often in an exaggerated fashion, and that eastern vagabond seemed to be the most guilty of it. Who even swings a sword by jumping overhead?

Vesemir had already lost interest in that golem, and his awe had turned into concern when the party piled blow after blow toward the now half-frozen guardian. Ironically, Whatever blood that spilled from the subsequent attack started to ignite the precious millennia-old bookcase.

"What a shoddy job! those books are as precious as one of your limbs! Could you please put that fire off?" Though his words were only that of an entreaty, it was clearly filled with utter perplexion. "Or at least be more cautious!"

It actually wasn't such a surprise that they paid him no head. Except for Gray Flame, who shouted, clearly not to entertain his wish of how this particular fight should be executed, but rather, for a more pressing matter.

"Hey, get out of the Killzone!"

And look at that arrow! Battling his bookworm enthusiasm, Vesemir immediately knew he wouldn't want to be anywhere on the arrow's path. The monocled elf retreated to the left side of the hall, but not before taking a good look at how the fight fared so far. Those mana lines, broken crystal, and the weaponized concrete that was not quite dead yet. A spherical dome was erected around the elven healer, who conveniently, or not so conveniently, stood right in the middle of the hall, and that was a cue that told: everyone in this room knows exactly what was going to happen.

The archeologist, for the first time after long decades, reconsidered his destination and rushed for his life toward the only source of reliable protection available.

Fia Blackfire

Each joint slowed as the surrounding temperature fluctuated between the freezing rime and the molten heat of the liquefied internals of the golem. Even so, the ice was holding, the golem making obvious efforts to use its limbs, the ice straining or cracking, but not breaking, yet. Forced to lean on the near bookcase for stability, the golem continued routing mana. Fia wasn’t too bothered to find a purpose, as she moved from joint to joint to further immobilizing the ancient construct.

The stream of ice halted as the crystal within the golem’s head shattered, even if partly. The clatter of stone against stone echoed across the floor, yet the golem persisted through the injury. Despite the damage the construct sustained, it was still operational, if otherwise immobile. Fia’s eyes gazed to the fire where she instinctively kept her distance. The orb that glowed off white and blue changed to that of red as Fia started to channel her magic once again. Then the color faded, and the orb stopped glowing.

With a barrier now erect within view, and Vesemir retreating into it, Fia got a sense that something was wrong. It certainly wasn’t helped by Gray Flame’s shout as well. Whatever they suspected was going to come, perhaps thread armor would not be enough protection. Instead of channeling magic into her orb, she focused on herself. In moments, Fia was no longer there replaced with a humming bird. Like a dart, Fia flew around the golem along a leftward path and into Roxas’ barrier. Thread armor alone probably wouldn’t. But barrier that looked as sturdy as Roxas’ in addition in case her view was wrong might be enough.

Carnatia de Luson

As the golem started behaving erratically, Carnatia's divination magic skill activated, as she caught glimpses of what the golem would do. Not an explosion as some in the group had thought, but rather, cauterizing gashes that acted as a 'spread and pray' of a laser it had tried to fire.

And so, Carnatia had a choice to make. Would she take refuge within the barrier, entrusting her safety to Roxas' spell, or should she attempt to dodge the beam and move in to fully disable the golem through disenchantment? The first option was clearly the safer option, but that also meant fully trusting her safety to someone else, not to mention what if the beams caused damages to valuables that were in here? That would be such a waste, of course, that also meant taking a risk of being vaporized by the laser.

The decisive question would be if she could trust her reflexes enough to dodge as her precognition warned her of the lasers' trajectories. Or better still, if she could strike it in time before it fired the lasers. Either way, she had to decide quickly, as she noticed Fia changing into a bird and rushing inside the barrier.

Judging the distance between her to the golem and her to Roxas, she was actually closer to the golem, and so, if she couldn't make it to the golem before it fired, she couldn't make it to the safety of the barrier before it fired.

And so she ran towards the golem, rapier in hand as she suffused it with disenchantment magic. Her mind sharpened, focusing on the precognition of possible attack her divination magic allowed her access to while honing into the golem, looking for that one singular vital weak spot for her to strike. The Zen focus her master taught her, the same one she had used to avoid the phantoms, now fully being used as how they were intended, to find the best spot to strike at the golem's head where the mana was gathering.

Her all-or-nothing gambit.

A barrier hummed to life, its translucent surface promising safety within its embrace. Some were already enveloped within, others ran inside without a second thought, but several made different judgment or plainly was too far to reach it in time.

The golem was unmoving, between damaged or immobilized limbs and divertion of power supply, making it an easy - if no less dangerous - target to strike. Magic flowed into Carnatia's rapier, forming a layer to break other magic as it flashed forward to truly finish the target. The physical world darkened to her sight, the energy coursing through the golem coming into visibility for a single moment, mana travelling in a single direction through the vein-like pathways. A single point of convergence was centered at the head before it went toward the shattered crystal through a large channel, one that was partially damaged from the shot a moment earlier.

The bladepoint struck at the convergence, smashing apart and blocking the core from fueling more energy into the destructive beam. Yet for a single dangerous moment the upsurge of energy found a different outlet, sparks of electricity travelling up the rapier and burned her grip just as she ripped the sword out with a flourish. As color returned to the world, however, so did an entirely different set of premonition.

Even though it's nowhere near full charge, the golem had determined that it wouldn't get any better chance and fired through the damaged focus. Fractured beams blasted out of the shattered eye, its size and intensity varied according to the shards. Not all of those was directed outward either, the head smoking and rapidly glowing orange as temperature increased.

Most of the beams splashed on the barrier, the protective dome rippled but held against the assault. Some struck across Tillius' shield, painting angry orange lines that slowly faded into black scorch marks over its surface, Gray Flame safely hidden behind. Carnatia did her best, twisting and turning to avoid the worst of it, but there's simply too many to dodge. A leg took the first hit, the momentary stagger scoring more burned gash on her limbs and torso, overwhelming her senses... then it all stopped.

Engelbert had reached the golem, his armor glowing with pale blue lines oddly similar to the golem's surface from earlier as he took the brunt of the energy beam. It only lasted for a few seconds, the knight managed to wrench the golem off-balance and toppled it to the floor face-down where it continued blasting impotently. An armored foot stomped the head to keep the construct from rising, fighting off an increasingly weakening struggle until something finally gave and the golem abruptly powered down.

Silence reigned, save for the merry crackle of the flame eating up that one bookshelf nearby. The golem's head was partially liquefied, as was the floor right underneath it. If the focus hadn't been broken and it was allowed to fully charge the beam attack... they've probably gotten through the fight remarkably well, all things considered. Even the collateral damage was minimum, the barrier coincidentally managing to protect the exposed half of the ancient books from the final attack.

Roxas

The healer watched those come into her barrier and those who didn't. She kept an eye on everyone she could. From the looks of the fight, her barrier held up and she was thankful. She watched Carnatia get hit with the beams in the midst of the fight, and let her eyes wander to Engel as he seemed to take care of the golem.

Once she was sure the golem wouldn't get up, she dropped her barrier and booked it to Carnatia. She got the girl to sit down for a moment, before she was mumbling softly. Her hand reached out and she pressed it against her leg, near the wound and her other hand on the other most damaged spot. Her silvery magic pulling mana from the charm and pushing to heal Carnatia's wounds.

This is what she did. She didn't adventure and keep her eyes alert and on target for nothing. The fact that Carnatia got it and was already being healed, just proved Roxas knew what she was doing.

Tillius

By the time Gray Flame shot that arrow, his premonition of an imminent explosion warned him not to commit to the attack and instead duck behind his large. It turned out to be wrong, but the decision was for the most part a correct one, as the laser through its damaged lens scattered off and scorched off the metallic skins of his shield, but it otherwise was completely fine and held up. His positioning right next to the pillar also created a pseudo-barrier from the lasers, something to which Gray Flame took advantage of when he couldn't with Roxas's.

When Tillius reviewed the scene, Engelbert was already finishing the golem off, and by the time the orc reached it, it was already head-deep in its own blood, or whatever that even is. The fight was over, they needed to handle the aftermath. Firstly, Carnatia, the one member who did not utilize either covers, and was promptly shot with the lasers. Roxas was already on the scene for it, but Tillius remembered the brooch Carnatia had given him earlier today, one said to be enhancing mana efficiency. If there is a time to be using that loot we got from the abandoned house, it would be now.

"Might come in handy." He tersely stated, taking out the brooch, knelt by the two ladies, and let Roxas decide if she'd like to take it. He didn't linger around them though. The second aftermath requiring his attention was the fire. It wasn't because he suddenly had sentiments for those precious old relics that he never heard or had respect for, or that Vesemir was crying about it in the background, but the fact that there were multiple bookshelves nearby, all of which could easily catch fire from that already burning shelf. Tillius had fought fires before in his times in the army, and while no one would be in danger of burning to death, inhaling smoke is the invisible killer many had perished to throughout the years, even decades and centuries. They were also underground, which wouldn't help if all these shelves catches fire

Unfortunately, with only his shield, he wouldn't have much to stop the already burning fire. He could, however, prevent it from getting worse. And that is what he did, going to the right and pull the two shelves away from the flames.

"Any of you, handle the other one." He gestured towards either Rezello or Engelbert, the two strong men of this group, to do the same for the other ones. If someone could stop the actively burning fire, Tillius presumed they would be doing that soon.

Fia Blackfire

A beautiful red and black hummingbird occasionally shimmering in the light of the crystals and fire hovered within the sturdy barrier. It occasionally darted from side to side as it tried to look outwards at the others and how they were going to handle the situation. This hummingbird, Fia, watched as Carnatia went in for one final strike against the machine before whatever consequence Gray Flame warned about took place. Even as the spellsword sent for her attack, the golem made no indication of shutting down. It was risky going for it now, but Carnatia prevailed, forcing the machine to act early.

Though Fia expected a sort of explosion assuming the gathering mana wouldn’t have an outlet, it turned out the golem’s crystal was still sturdy enough to fire a fractured beam of devastating energy. Several beams hit the barrier, the floor, ceiling, and even back into it’s own head. Those outside the barrier had shields or armor to protect them, and the beams were not focused enough to burn through. A fact Engelbert took advantage of as he stomped the head of the construct. As it finally died down, Fia walked out of the barrier moments before it was cast down again in the appearance of the beautiful woman she was.

“You don’t have to worry too much about the fire, dearies.” said Fia as she approached the burning bookcase. Her magically levitating glass orb glowed red as embers danced inside Fia’s palm. A heat that couldn’t compare to the fire of the burning library, nor that of the molten internals of the golem warmed her hand through her glove. She held out her arm, palm down. A column of fire poured out of her hand onto the ground. The flame then traveled across the stone floor connecting to the blazing bookcase. In perfect control over the fire, the entire blaze died down all at once similar to cutting a lantern off its source of oil. Even the trail of fire she created to connect to the blaze faded, leaving only the smoking remains of the wood and parchment. However, since the shinobi’s fire was of a different sort, whatever fire that ate away at the golem remained. “If you care about those books, hopefully you can recover some of them, darling.”

Fia returned the orb into her shoulder bag. She sighed and shooks her arms and body trying to loosen up. The slight purple tinge that surrounded her frame faded, leaving Fia without her magical armor. She looked towards Carnatia and Roxas and wandered close. Roxas was working her magic on the noblewoman, healing the injury from her head on assault. The soft glow of Roxas’ healing was soothing just to watch.

“That was daring, darling. I’m so glad you were not seriously hurt.”

Engelbert carefully lifted his foot off the now defunct golem, the layer of leather sole of his boots burned to reveal the metal underneath. The armor encasement was very thorough, but metal wasn't quite the multipurpose material. His balance was slightly off and he clanked loudly every other step, but at least he fared better than the now very slowly cooling remnant of his foe.

"All things considered, I suppose that went well." He's a bit subdued, somewhat blaming himself for not stopping the golem despite the low likelihood of it succeeding. Looking to help with the fire revealed that Fia had extinguished it more efficiently than a cadre of men with buckets, so that's one less thing to do. As for healing the injured... Roxas got it covered. Shrugging, Engelbert clattered to retrieve the sword that was discarded halfway through his sprint toward the golem.

"Are we cataloguing this library, or shall we move to the next room? I recall daytime is allegedly quite dangerous here, we dont have that much time." Said the knight at their boss, sword now secured where it belong. Sunrise was still a few hours away, but there's a lot of books to go through not to mention more potential security measures. His attention momentarily shifted to the golem. "We can probably borrow the hammer to force entry if the door isn't opening."

Carnatia de Luson

Carnatia winced in pain at her burns, her practising meditation being the only thing allowing her to keep a facade of composure. That...could have gone better, but could probably be much worse also. Still, given that the laser was still that powerful even after being weakened by her dispelling strike, perhaps it was for the best.

Before long, Roxas was beside her, as she started healing her wounds. Immediately, Carnatia felt her pain lessen as her burn wounds started to heal.

"Thank you. Er...we actually have that brooch from that dilapidated house, perhaps it would—"

Before Carnatia finished, Tillius knelt before the two and took out the brooch. Carnatia gave him a nod of gratitude as he left to put out the fire.

“That was daring, darling. I’m so glad you were not seriously hurt.”

"Thank you for your concern. Yes, I suppose looking back it was rather reckless, but I did believe that was the correct action to take. Still do, actually. Though yes, it would be nice if I could have avoided being burnt."

Rezello

Rezello barely made it in time, circling to find the golem from the side just as it passed by. A precise blow found the back of the knee, a familiar crimson lines spiderwebbing from the point of impact before it summarily frizzled and died. The resulting impact resounded in a satisfying dull thud, the metal striking stone and found it wanting.

The golem still continued forward, but an increasingly discordant grinding noise echoed from the joint and at the third step something snapped. It stumbled, the damaged knee missed a beat and the following iced heel found the ground at an awkward angle, slipping uncontrollably instead of finding a measured landing.

It fell heavily onto its knee, one arm catching the ground to avoid fully dropping.

Rezello took a step back from the golem as the impact of his attack took effect; though the outer shell initially remained intact, the concussive force of the blow resonating within had evidently damaged some internal mechanism as the struck leg stumbled and ground itself into a collapse. Before he had even readied another attack, the foreign swordsman burst towards the golem, emanating some unknown, malignant force; whatever power it was that burned within him, he transferred it to his curved blade before plunging it through the golem's torso. Though the 'wound' left behind from the attack was small, the internal damage it had caused - and continued to cause - was evident enough.

As the golem crackled out some distorted verbage, the damage it had taken rendering its speech incomprehensible, more attacks made their way to the golem. A flurry of arrows into its exposed internals from Roxas, a spray of misted frost from Fia, a thrown javelin from Tillius, and a rush to strike from Carnatia.

Rezello lifted an armored hand to cover the exposed portion of his face from the incoming shattered stone; the rest of him was protected well enough to prevent the shards of rock from doing any serious damage, but it didn't take much force for a direct blow to the head to knock someone out, or worse. Coincidentally, the golem had, in the meantime, taken a pair of strikes to the head; one magic-dispelling thrust from Carnatia's rapier that fragmented its glowing crystal eye, and a powerful shot from Gray Flame's bow that had shattered it completely.

Despite the damage, magic energy continued to build up throughout the golem, some managing to bypass the hole in its torso while the rest spilled out in sparks and flames. Roxas put up her barrier, the edge of which just managing to reach Rezello as it engulfed roughly half of the party, Fia making her way into the barrier after taking an avian form. Of the four that remained outside, Carnatia was the least protected against what came next; she rushed the golem, landing a decisive blow on the golem's head.

Though it could no longer build up energy, it still had enough charged to release a powerful beam attack, the shattered fragments of its crystal eye producing a labyrinth of fragmented energy blasts, several of which briefly struck Carnatia before being intercepted by the recovered Engelbert, his armor absorbing the magic attack as he threw the golem to the ground and held it there under his boot until what energy it had left was extinguished. The guardian of the workshop lie defeated, body mangled and reserves drained.

As the dust of battle settled, Roxas went to heal the wounds Carnatia had received from the golem's final assault, Tillius offering something to her, presumably the healing-enhancing brooch they had found in the abandoned home before. Meanwhile, Fia went to extinguish the flames that had engulfed one of the bookshelves. Rezello released his weapon back into his armory, its form engulfed by a flash of silver light before disappearing. He stepped over to the 'corpse' of the golem, inspecting the warhammer it carried; if none of the others objected, and it didn't carry any lifespan-enhancing enchantments or other such magics that would prevent it from entering his Armory, he considered taking the heavy weapon for himself.

"Probably better to finish what we came here for and decide on that afterwards," Rezello commented, looking around. "Wouldn't want to end up encountering another surprise or two and exceed our limit." As much as he wanted to scour the collection for information - it was his reason for joining the party, after all - acquiring the knowledge he was pursuing would be pointless if it meant dying in Lasse.

"All things considered, I suppose that went well."

To be frank, calling it went well was a bit of a stretch, the fire was still there and Vesemir was almost about to toss his cane and fancy vest to put out the fire when Via, rather than conjuring ice or water to extinguish, picked a fire spell to... worsen the fire again?

Apparently not, her own brand fire looked like a living blaze that suck out the heat and oxygen from the existing fire, snuffing it out almost immediately. In amazement the archeologist swept sweat from his forehead, realizing that no harsh words were necessary, and nobody deserved blame for this.

"Are we cataloguing this library, or shall we move to the next room? I recall daytime is allegedly quite dangerous here, we dont have that much time."

Hearing that question, suddenly excitement filled his heart again. "Why, Mr Engelbert, to the next room of course." He glanced at Tillius, who volunteered to rescue the unburned shelves from the damaged ones.

"Gentlemen, I think that is enough that the fire has been put out. But if you want to give these valuable relics the proper appreciation they deserve, then be my guest. Just keep in mind that this hall is a library, and we are not a bunch of thieves."

Winking his monocled eyes, he shifted to the red-haired swordswoman and Roxas, wordlessly urging the healer to pick the brooch. "And don't forget our Eastborn friend. Looks like some nasty cuts on his palms."

Then he moved to the door, inserted the card, and pushed it open. And it opened like an ordinary heavy door.

"See? No need to hammer it! I was expecting it to say a welcome or something, though. Don't you wonder why the messages are all in Common and not Elvish?"

The room was dark, so Vesemir had to tread carefully. "Sívë anan eis lyenn, Theriadore." He said as he looked at the dark room. His lantern was still at the pillar, the only source of light that kept the library lit. And he did not bring a spare.

"Master Tillius, would you be so kind as to borrow me the crystal we recovered from the house earlier?"

Tillius

"Mm. Fighting fire with fire indeed." Halfway through preserving the other shelves, it was already extinguished. Nevertheless, it was a pretty damn good job of her thinking up unconventional means to get rid of the hazard.

Once Tillius was certain nothing else proved a hazard, he turned to Vesemir. "Don't worry, I have no such interests. Just making sure we die from the appropriate monsters in this faraway land instead." The orc quipped, more jokingly, but then again, orcs don't tend to have good sense of humor.

While Roxas tended to the injuries the party received, the elf went and opened another door to another room, while Engelbert wanted to keep moving. Tillius wasn't sure if rushing it while there were still injured people was a good idea. There could be more like this golem in the next room.

"Sure, have fun with it." Tillius took the crystal out from his belt and handed it to Vesemir. "However, I will stay with the injured for now, until Roxas finishes her work. The danger that potentially awaits in the sunlight takes less priority than the danger we potentially have now with them."

Roxas

Roxas looked to Tillius and took the brooch. She put on her leg, and finally Carnatia was healed. She offered a weak smile and stood. She shook her hands gently, shuddering a little before grabbing the brooch and clipped it to her tunic. She moved to Nanashi, before healing him easily. It didn't take much, so he was fine.

She let go of him after he was healed and shook her hands again. She stepped away, shuddering lightly and shaking her arms and body. She then wiped her hands on her pants a couple times before standing. She gave a soft sigh, and looked over to everyone. "Anyone else have any injuries before we enter the room? I'm limited on mana right now, but I have some left before I need to really rest."
