Update is go! @King Cosmos and @Kazemitsu, if you still want to do things before time jumping that's cool, just let me know if there's something specific you need and I can tell you so you can include it in your next posts.
@Zeroth I think I'm going to take the skill rank point and, assuming I can allocate it, put it into Akeno's martial arts skill.
After that I think she would just spend the rest of her time that night finding a relatively isolated spot to sleep for the night (not outside the camp, but somewhere out of the way) and then do as many sit-ups, push-ups and squats as she could managed before falling asleep; the exercises are in that order, so if she can't do all of them before getting worn down she's starting with the sit-ups.
@King Cosmos You're good, all of that will work! Raising the rank of her martial arts skill increases the "small boost" of her counter attacks to "boost," and adds a "small boost" to her defense when those same traditional blocks are used regardless of if she counterattacks.
Ey Zeroth, mind going over what the reward is, so I can attach it as part of my post? Esfir's otherwise going to head off to the mountains to figure out the whole water situation.

Upon approaching the warchief's home, Esfir will see Xolkug and another bodyguard standing at the foot of the stairs. When presented with the rat skull, they'll take her up to the first platform and retrieve a big chest from inside the lower chambers, as well as a sack. They dump the sack out to reveal a pile of generic clothes made from pelts, and open the chest to reveal an assortment of gear (anything too big is just stacked against the wall in the back of the chamber).
Esfir and any other runt will get 1 outfit from the pile (player can describe appearances) that grants, overall, a small boost to their defenses like Esfir's makeshift bracers and Akeno's vest.
Otherwise, they can choose 1 item from each of three other "piles" of gear:
ARMOR
Leather Bracers
Leather Boots
Plankwood Shield
Turtleshell Helmet
Leather Skirt
WEAPONS (Ranged Weapons come with 12 associated ammo)
@ERodeDid she only pick the rope? You can take one of each--a piece of armor, a weapon, and a tool. Sorry if the wording wasn't clear, it's meant to be like a "starter kit" kinda thing.
Update is in the works, although it may be a day or two. Tropical Storm Beryl will be sending some ripples through my neck of the woods apparently, and my area is notorious for losing power anytime the wind blows in the wrong direction, so I fully expect to get interrupted halfway through the first draft >_<
