Hello, Pandora here looking for people for friends and an RP partner would be a plus. I've enjoyed roleplaying since I learned about it 14 years ago. I was introduced to roleplaying in an old chat site. I loved it the more I learned. From there I went to other sites learning to write more and how to describe things. I enjoy writing so much I've considered writing a book. Anyway, I am very much into action, fantasy, romance, slice-of-life, and supernatural stories. I've been mostly comfortable writing para and multi-para. The stories I write are romantic but I like putting some drama and action to spice up the story. I am open to many stories whether modern or medieval. I try to be compromising with my partner. Interested?? Please contact me and let's talk. :)

I have some of my characters up on here. Please feel free to check it out!

Urban fantasy is pretty sweet but which type of Urban fantasy? The one where it's a modern world but with elves and stuff or more of a supernatural PJO or Hogwarts esque situation with a hidden supernatural society embedded in normal society?

I enjoy the urban fantasy world, with modern settings and different species living together. Or in their various groups?

Hi. : )
I'm currently on an X-Men track with my RPing, which would check at least your supernatural box if you don't mind RPing existing properties. Doesn't have to be canon characters or such. I'm currently still looking for joiners for an OC based one: DeoXys: A next gen X-Men/Comic Superhero RP

I've got other ideas that are canon or could be OC or a mix: Cache of other X-Men concepts.

You can check out my profile for some writing samples and feel free to PM me. : )
(I've also got a non supernatural, slice of life drama idea I haven't put into an interest check yet, but just to say I may be branching out from X-Men soon. That idea would have potential for romance elements, too).

Hello there ^^

I've done Xmen roleplay before but it didn't get too far. But I do love the cartoons and the comics. (Storm is my favorite X-Men by the way hehe.) I hadn't joined any groups before. I have only done 1x1 roleplays. I'd have to think about it.

My cache ideas tend to be 1x1.
The one at the bottom, eXtant, I imagined as a group but could be done 1x1 alternatively.

Anyway yeah. : )
And so cool Storm's your favourite! I've been writing my own X-Men adaptation (so not an RP) and intend to do a Storm Chronicles (though I think I should have a more diverse voice to collaborate with, given I'm White). I recently read one of the classic comics which gave me a whole new perspective on Storm. I think there's a lot more to that character than her awesome powers and "Goddessness" that's usually focused on.

Well that's cool hehe and I've seen her life before being the Weather Goddess. She was alone and was raised to be a thief. And she then starts being claustrophobic. She was married to Black Panther but they divorced and she got with Forge when she lost her powers.

@Pandora13 Yeah, I didn't know that about Forge until recently.
What I also found interesting was that was described or implied to be a gifted child even before she was gifted in the mutant sense, so like traditionally gifted.

There's kind of that aspect to mutantcy where if you think of it like someone being "more able" than you, and some people when they see others "higher" want to bring them down. Which is an interesting reverse of how mutantcy (among other things) can also be a metaphor for disability. It's those sorts of aspects that I don't think we see focused on as much in the stories, at least not what I've read so far.
I mean the fear of them does relate to them being able to do things others can't, thought "dangerous" things, but I haven't come across many stories that present it from a disability perspective which I think could open up a lot of interesting insights and reflections.

Hmm, I never thought about that before. I mean when I first learned about Xmen they seemed to be a menace and outcasts. But the Xmen came along to try to make peace to bring humans and mutants together. But of course, humans looked down on them like they were abominations. They didn't want anything to do with any of them. And then Magneto came along and looked down at humans like they were weak. He didn't care to be peaceful he wanted to take over. In one series I saw he wanted to make everyone mutants.

So it was different ways they saw mutants as superior and also "different". Some do actually want peace but others seem to abuse their power. Like you said showing what they can do and humans can't.

@Pandora13 Yeah, there's a lot of sides to the mutant story. Like there's the theory -theory might not be the right word. The take?- of the "mutant metaphor", where mutants are stand ins for various things of our actual society. Namely or initially racial/civil rights, though more recently it's drawn closer or even direct lines to the LGBTQ+ community. But I know that there are people who relate to them from the disability community. Many mutants having atypical bodies; looking different, literally not fitting in (e.g. Nightcrawler has three fingers. He can't just buy gloves off the rack).

How I think of it also is like, what are their limitations? For instance, Cyclops. If he ever has problems with his eyes, something as simple as putting eyedrops in would not be a straightforward process for him.

Well, that is one "take" I didn't get to see. But it would be something for different mutants to represent each of those communities. But at the same time, I would see that as they are more like mascots. When they could be mentors. And yes each mutant power could be seen as a plus or a disadvantage. They could be seen as disabled by their appearances. Which I always wondered how they fit clothes on Beast I've seen him with a suit on.

@Pandora13

Yeah, I think "the mutant metaphor" is more like a spread out thematic thing or a throughline that comes up more or less depending what media you're taking in your which comics. Some of the comics lean much heavier into standard superheroes-against-cataclysmic-disaster (except in the X-Men's case, it's almost always because they're mutants rather than they're caught up in somebody else's war etc).

Hmmm...mascots is an interesting thought.
I think they can be simultaneously that as well as mentors.

(and Beast must get his stuff tailor made!)

Well, I've had different experiences with media from comics and the old and new cartoons. Which have been very different. It's like when it comes to comics you get mutants into different universes and looks. But the cartoons stay the same and you never see all who belong to X-Men. Yeah, I did notice the Xmen in the middle of a war to help humans but also themselves. And even fighting people in space.

Well, they do have certain ones that represent the Xmen. And they are considered mentors and professors. (Hehe well I imagine he would)
