World Building Exercise

I am looking for creative minds who wish to contribute to a project developing the planets, star systems, governments, species, and technologies of the indigenous inhabitants of the planets we create. Use my planet as an example if needed or create your own without looking at mine.

You are encouraged to create more than one planet or star system. Please limit your planet to one intelligent indigenous species initially. If you would like to write a history of how other life forms came to live on your planet, please do, but use other created species, from existing worlds. We will eventualy come up with a star date system to track events in history.

Once we are complete, we can use this world to host Roleplays. Anyone who contributes to this thread can participate in any thread created by any other member who contributes to this thread. When we think we are complete, we can brainstorm some ideas for plots, storylines and roleplays. I italicized the word, complete, because there is no time limit and you can add more worlds in the future.

***If you have what it takes to create one or more worlds, please dive in and express your creativity!***

My Notes

1. All inhabitable planets rotate on their axis in 24 hours to bring all planets, people, and ships to the same time system.

2. A star system will have anywhere from four to 15 planets. Most are either too cold or too hot to sustain life. The locum vivum band (place of life) of every star system is between the second and fifth planets. Not all of these may sustain life, but more than one can sustain life. It is also possible to create moons large enough to sustain life within this band. The moon must also be large enough to maintain the 24-hour time system.

3. A list of usable species is given if you do not want to create one of your own. Species must have evolved from a lesser life form and cannot have already evolved into a higher life form that transcends the material plane.

4. Magic is possible, but severe limitations will be imposed. This magic is not like that experienced in JK Rowling’s Harry Potter universe. A creature may possess a racial trait shared by all like the empathic communications technique of the Betazed. A species may have the ability to communicate telepathically to individuals or to a group as desired. Magically enhanced space travel, time travel, or mind control are not available.

5. Species may be no smaller than 3’ and no larger than 16’ in height.

6. FTL speed is available for technological advancements. Ships use a light-speed system measured in gradient terms. Ships may travel between Festin Factor 1 and 9. Ships traveling above Festin Factor 8 for too long will experience physical damage to their engines.

7. Possible Fuels include: Dilithium Crystals, Rhydonium, Baradium Nitrate, Deuterium, Ipsium, Kessoline, Megonite, Nergon-15, Zylium 12, Coaxium and Clouzon-58.

8. Energy-based weapons are the norm. High Energy Lasers (HELs), which emit photons at the speed of light. HELs have an unlimited magazine but are degraded by rain and fog.

9. High Power Microwaves (HPMs) release radiofrequency waves that can impact targets over a wide area. They have a shorter range than HELs. Their beam degrades over long distances.

10. Millimeter wave weapons have non-lethal military applications such as crowd control and area denial. These can produce significant injuries but are proven to be safe.

11. A directed energy weapon inflicts damage via a beam or pulse of electromagnetic radiation, high-energy particles, or more exotic forms of energy. Directed energy weaponry replaced projectile weapons, which tended to be regarded as more "primitive". The most common types of directed energy weapons are phasers and disruptors. This does not negate the fatal damage of projectile weapons.

12. Antiproton weapons are available for only the most advanced civilizations which can be used to destroy entire planets.

13. Communications work like email with transmission speeds being boosted to Festin Factor 30 which would have transmissions arrive more than three times faster than the fastest ships available.

14. This is a list of possible races you may use or build upon. Please do not feel limited by this list. You can add characters and cultural nuances as you see fit.

Humans: the norm as we know them on earth
Klingons: As found on Star Trek. This race of warriors is based on historical Japanese culture.
Krill: as found on The Orville
Chak'tal: As found on the Orville
Zehoberei: As found in the Marvel Universe
Iktotchi: As found in Star Wars Universe
Bothans: as found in Star Wars Universe
Kel Dor: as found in Star Wars Universe

***Races are open to your creative contributions.***

15. Please do not create Artificial Life forms similar to Data on Star Trek, Cylons of Galactica, or the Khalon of The Orville. Although Artificial life forms used to perform services for other races are generally acceptable.

16. Bio-engineered species can be used but for every trait you add to a species through bio-engineering, something is taken away.

Planetary Dimensions & Composition
Diameter = 12,390 Km
Area: 482.028 million sq km
Land: 140.27 million sq km (29.1%)
Water: 341.758 million sq km (70.9%)
Satellite: No Moon

Climate – Earthlike diversity in climate zones across the planet.

Inhabitants/Species/Population
Population: 4,290,000,000
Race: The Baku

Species
Physical Description
The Baku are a bipedal humanoid race with blue skin. The skin tone varies from very light blue, almost white to very dark blue, almost dark purple rather than black. The average Baku has a medium shade of blue with only small minorities of the population blessed/cursed with dark blue or light blue skin. People who do have dark blue/light blue skin tones are considered the more attractive members of society. They tend to possess an elevated degree of magnetism/charisma due to their skin tone. It is not uncommon for a Baku man and woman who have four children with one of the four blessed/cursed with the dark blue/light blue skin tone. Formally, this translates into the dark and light Baku finding themselves in the hierarchy of society.

Baku eyes are almond shaped with either yellow or green tinted iris. A rare few Baku possess blue or even rarer few possess a violet-colored iris. As for skin color, those who have violet or blue eyes tend to be considered more attractive than yellow or green-eyed Baku. Irrelevant of skin color and eye color, thirty-second (3.125%) of the population are gifted with an empathic ability.

Culture/Government
Government type: Triumverate – Republic
Capital: Cranton
Executive branch: chief of state: President, Viceroy, Chancellor
head of government: Prime Minister
Legislative branch: Parliament
Judicial branch: Superior Court of Appeals

Culture: Muchado – “The Way of the Warrior” In ancient times the Baku were a militaristic society. How they approached life, death and honor had to do more with the Code of Honor of the warrior; what is referred to as Muchado. The society and culture have deviated from that focus within the past century, but many in the Baku culture retain these ancient traditions.

The warrior spirit and the virtues can still be found in Baku society. Notable Baku consider muchado an important part of their culture. Certain people use aspects of muchado as a way of life.

Muchado affects myriad aspects in Baku society and culture. In addition to impacts on military performance, media, entertainment, martial arts, medicine and social work, the muchado code has catalyzed corporate behavior. It is the mode of thought which historically structured the capitalist activity. Business relations, the close relationship between the individual and the group to which he or she belongs, the notions of trust, respect and harmony within the Baku business world are based on muchado. Therefore, this is at the origin of the industrial harmony ideology of modern Baku.

"The tradition permeates the planet's corporate culture and has informed many of its social developments".

Egalitarian principles practiced by the warrior have permeated through modern business society and culture. Principles like Honorable Poverty, encourage those with power and resources to share their wealth, directly influencing global success. Muchado also provides enterprises with social meaning. The moral purpose that muchado articulates transcends booms and busts. It is often said that a Baku company is like a family, with executives caring about employees and employees showing respect to executives. Muchado, then, is part of the basis for a sense of national identity and belonging—an ideal that says the Baku are one people, in it together.

In utilization of Muchado's seven virtues, the warrior code has been renewed to contribute towards development of communication skills between adult Baku couples. The people have identified a methodology which can be employed by counseling agents to guide adults in self-reflection and share emotions with their partner. Practicing Muchado virtues can ultimately enhance intra- and interpersonal relationship, beginning with personal awareness and extending to couple awareness. When utilizing the matrix, a couple is asked to identify one of the seven virtues and apply it to their past and current perceptions surrounding its prevalence in their lives. If individuals identify their relationship to be absent that specific virtue, they may now ponder of its inclusion for their benevolence.

The muchado spirit exists in Baku martial arts. Modern muchado focuses more on self-defense, fighting, sports, tournaments and just physical fitness training. While all of these things are important to the martial arts, a much more important thing is missing, which is personal development. Muchado's art taught soldiers the important secrets of life, how to raise children, how to dress, how to treat family and other people, how to cultivate personality, things related to finances. All of these things are important to be a respected soldier. Although the modern Muchado is guided by eight virtues, that alone is not enough. Muchado not only taught one how to become a soldier, but all the stages of life. The warrior described by muchado is not a profession but a way of life. It is not necessary to be in the army to be a soldier. The term "warrior" refers to a person who is fighting for something, not necessarily physically. Man is a true warrior because of what is in his heart, mind, and soul. Everything else is just tools in the creation to make it perfect. Muchado is a way of life that means living in every moment, honorably and honestly. All this is of great importance in the life of a soldier, both now and in the past.

The essence of muchado is best defined by the following statements:

Sincerity - do not lie, do not be insincere, do not be superficial
Responsibility - do not be obsequious
Frugality - do not be greedy
Politeness - do not be rude, do not slander
Modesty - do not be boastful, do not be arrogant
Loyalty - do not be unfaithful
Harmony - be on good terms with comrades
Tranquility - do not be overly concerned with events
Compassion - show concern for one another, be compassionate, with a strong sense of duty.

Baku men dress in a business style similar to the humans of both Dornier and Goff for professional corporate endeavors and may wear the traditional robes or kimonos of ancient Baku society.

The Baku have taken up the sport of Voetball and many leagues at various levels of society.
