IMPORTANT NOTE:

Hello, thank you for showing interest in Game of Tails -- unfortunately, this RP has had all of the necessary players pre-recruited, and as such we are not allowing new people to join in. Should any of our pre-existing members leave or drop out for any reason, the roleplay may open up a spot for newcomers, but as of right now we are not looking for more people. Thank you for your time, and better luck elsewhere!
Story:

The world of Fralanthe, a parallel world to our own, where people live and thrive in peace and harmony. Well, maybe not peace... There are wars and battles fought here just like on Earth, but thanks to a mysterious energy known as Frala, these conflicts are free of blood and death, making them a sort of game to the populace of this world. In fact, wars have become events, where you can participate and have fun battling, or sit back and enjoy it on the large, magic broadcast that showcases it as if it were a sports festival!

One of the nations that take part in these war-games is the democratic monarchy of Graelian. Beautiful and peaceful, this nation has enjoyed a long-standing period of tranquility, as well as good relations and cooperation with their neighbours, especially the nation of Belleray. However, tragedy recently struck Graelian, when both its king and queen tragically passed away under mysterious circumstances as they were travelling to another, far-off country. Left behind to rule in their stead, was their only child who was both inexperienced, as well as still very upset over the loss of both their parents.

To make matters worse, reports keep coming in from the highways and far-off, isolated villages and farmsteads. Monsters and wild beasts have become more bold in recent days, prowling closer and closer to the place where people travel or live. Sometimes even growing so daring as to attack patrols, despite their numeric advatage! There are also rumors of a shadowy, mysterious figure who skulks about the moonlit nights, watching and staring from a distance, unnerving anyone who sees it. To top it all off, Belleray, Graelian's beloved neighbour, has recently become pre-occupied and distant, being unable to lend help or support to the now struggling fledgling ruler and their crestfallen country.

However! In spite of the tragedies, the troubles and the difficulties, the young, new ruler of Graelian does not give up! Deciding to hold a War-Game in order to raise spirits, morale and take peoples' minds off the recent issues, the time for some re-creation and fun brings some much needed fresh air to the nation. With the promise of even summoning Heroes from the other world, in order to participate and spice things up, the general population has become quite excited for this upcoming event!

But even with the nation a-buzz and busying itself to prepare for this event, one cannot just sweep away troubles and worries and hide it beneath a rug. How will things be after the tournament? Will the young ruler be able to work through the loss of their parents? Will the monsters and beasts be chased off so the roads are once more safe? Will the eerie shadowy being be caught or driven off, so it won't terorize people from afar with its unpleasant stare? Will relations with Belleray pick up and resume as normal? None can say, but for now, at least, people seem content to focus on the up-coming war.
Welcome to Fralanthe:

This story is based on the series 'Dog Days', and is set in the fictional, parallel world of Fralanthe. Here you will find magic, demons and a mysterious, life-protecting energy, as well as humans who for some reason sport anmal ears and tails. As you've read, the story centers around the kingdom of Graelian, and will follow the journey of several individual from, or aligned to, that nation. Just to give everyone a quick reminder, here's a small glossary and/or encyclopedia with some basic information about the world and setting in general.

Frala: The mystical, life-protecting energy of Fralanthe. This energy prevents people from being killed by attacks made by other living people/beings. In the case of an average person, they will revert to an 'animal orb' in the shape of what ears and tail they have (ergo, a person with rabbit ears would turn into a bunny orb). In the case of stronger individuals, they will suffer from having their clothes torn apart and, should the attack be powerful enough, be rendered unconscious. Cities, fortresses, farms and war-game battlefields are all constructed in areas rich with Frala. Oh, and unlike in Dog Days, where armor and clothes are destroyed merely by being touched or grazed, armor in Fralanthe actually has to be pierced before it shatters -- clothes, however, are still made out of paper and will be ripped apart by a simple tear from an enemy weapon.

War-games: A sort of militant sport, wherein people and soldiers participate in a game-like battle, using real weapons, armor and magic, in order to beat the opposing side and/or capture certain objectives. Thanks to the Frala, these events are nearly always without any serious incidents and the general population of any any country is quite fond of watching these games. The 'matches' are almost always broadcasedt - through magical means - for the viewing of many thousands of people. Rulers, knights and other high-profile people fill the roles of celeberities in these games, and are expected to be flashy, impressive and plain cool.

Magic: A force which the common person of Fralanthe cannot make any considerable use out of. Something that cannot be seen or felt, but exists just like air in the very fabric of the world itself. More powerful and capable people are able to make use of magic, shaping and forming it in many, and almost any, way they see fit. In the War-games, magic is used by Knights and Heroes and others in order to create powerful, and visually impressive, special attacks that dazzles - and decimates - their opponents! Magic can also be used for other things, of course, such as creating shoes that allow you to run across water, or empowering your legs which would allow you to jump ontop of a two storey-building. One thing you should know, however, is that magic requires a person's stamina/energy in order to be transformed into a usable state - and the more powerful the its effect is, the more tiresome/draining it will be perform. When a person runs out of vigor or stamina, they're considered to be defeated, and would faint from exhaustion.
Guidelines:

I don't really think it'll be necessary to bring this up, but I'll do it just for the sake of habit:

1. Play fair so everyone can have fun.
2. No auto-hitting or ever-dodging.
3. No meta-gaming/using OOC-knowledge in-character unless said character has uncovered that information themselves.
4. Be respectful towards one another, both IC and OOC.
5. If you haveb't already, go watch Dog Days.
Characters and You:

Please use the template below to create your character!

Positions: These are the various roles and positions within the kingdom of Graelian. Some have only one spot vacant, while others can have any number of people filling them. Please note the number-counter next to the title you want, and if it's still vacant, feel free to apply for it in your CS.

Princess of Graelian (Taken by PlatinumSkink)
Chancellor (1x)
Court Magus (1x)
Head of Research (1x)
Knight-Commander (Taken by Komamisa)
Captain of the Royal Guard (1x)
General (1x)
Royal Bodyguard (2x)
Freelance-Knight (2x)
Knight (Inf.)
Head Maid (Taken by Nekomancer)
Hero - from Earth (Taken by Skyswimsky and Zombehs)
Mercenary (2x)

Important Note: These are not the only positions or titles available. If you want to have/be something else, go ahead and add it to your 'Position', and as long as you explain what it is and how your character got that title - in your background - we'll see about approving it!

Affinity: Your afffinity, or element, is the type of physical manifestation that your special moves will take in the world. Your affinity is directly linked to your personality, so a passionate, lively and hot-headed person would likely have fire as their element, while someone who is guarded, calm and calculating would have ice as their element, or someone who is chaotic and unpredictable would have lightning as theirs. I'm not going to tell you what affinity your character has, you will need to decide that for yourself, but keep in mind that it should be fitting of your personality.

If nobody else makes the princess, I will out of desire to do so. If anyone else wants the position, however, I will gladly give it to them and play another position. Just to make sure, I'll be very happy either way~

... So, the "Average" in the Character sheet isn't exactly the same as citizen-average, is it? Heh-heh...

Also, while the show is called "Dog Days", is there a specific distribution of the kinds of mimis? Like, 50% dog-kind, 30% cat-kind, 10% bunnies and 10% other or similar? Just wondering for the sake of the world. I remember that shot of what appeared to be a village completely and only of bunnies...

I'm not sure anyone would be able to give you an exact breakdown. The major countries are canine (Biscotti) and felines (Gallete), and then there's... I have no idea, rodents (Pastillage)? There's other animals as well, but those are probably as minorities, though with a small group I doubt sticking to the numbers is necessary.

Heya Skink. So far as I know, nobody has called the Princess yet, so she's fair game to create. :)

As for your questions:

Citizens, as in the average commoner-person, is below 'Very Low' in both Fitness and Magic Potential. The Magic Potential and Fitness refer to stronger-than-common people in general. ;)

There is no specific distribution of the races in Fralanthe. There are just as many cat-eared people as other animal-eared people in each nation. Well, maybe not an exact, equal number, but there is no over-hanging majority of any one race or the other in any specific country. This was done to prevent people from feeling obligated to play as a certain race of natives, and allow more freedom and creativity.

EDIT:

Also, here's something useful from Koma~

1. Go to the IRC mibbit thingy at the top.
2. Enter your username and enter the Roleplayerguild chat.
3. Then in the textbox, type /join #GameofTails
4. Welcome to Game of Tails IRC Chatroom! :D

That should mean the Princess is mine, then.

So, those "three weapons" is says we're to describe... I assume this means weapon types? I mean, some of us will have those strange things that take whatever form they want, right? So only "one" of those would mean all weapons in existence... XD

Alright then, I'll update the first post and add in you two's choices/picks. :P

Weapon specialization means things like specific weapon-types, for example; Longswords and short swords are not the same, just because they're both 'swords'.
You could, for example, take something like: Longsword, crossbow and pike -- or --- Short sword, katana and broadsword.

Relic Weapons can assume the form you desire, but that doesn't mean you can use ANY form. After all, training with a weapon takes time, and you'd hafta be pretty old -- and long-lived -- to master every weapon-type in existence. ;)

Name: Lucrezia Barbajada
Age: Ara ara~ it's rude to ask nee-san that~
Gender: Female
Race: Bear-girl / Kumamimi

Appearance: Picture
Height: 160 cm
Weight: 66 kg
Hair color: Light Brown, with the tips of her ears and tail darkening slightly
Eye color: Green
Skin tone: Fair
Misc: If (heaven forbid) circumstances force her to take up arms in defence of the princess, she augments her regular uniform with an armored breastplate.

Personality: The vast majority of people get to see the professional side of Lucrezia; a competent, level-headed, dedicated servant of the princess of Graelian. This is for the most part a faithful representation of who she is, however the princess and a privileged few of the serving staff are aware of another side to her. Lucrezia is fond of wild rumors (hearing them, anyways. She has the discretion not to spread such baseless shlock), and though she is deeply protective of the princess she is prone to teasing her behind closed doors, often about potential romantic interests.

- Likes: Bishonen / bishoujo, cute clothes (ideally worn by bishonen / bishoujo), when things run according to schedule, honey, salacious or outlandish rumors
- Dislikes: Couples that flaunt their happiness, half-finished jobs, excessive mess, people who mention her age and/or marital status, slander (distinct and separate from salacious rumors)

Background: Born into a servile family, as soon as Lucrezia was of an age to understand and complete simple tasks she was expected to. Employed by the royal family of Graelian, she quickly grasped the routines of the castle and the duties required of her. Her talent for it and her work ethic allowed her to quickly move through the servants' hierarchy, becoming the head maid in her early adolescence.

Then came the bundle of joy, the young princess Sfogliatine Zucchero Graelian was born as heir to the royal throne. Needless to say, a newborn child requires a lot of care and attention, a fair bit of which was provided by the newly appointed head maid: diapers cleaned, bottle warmed, baby burped, vomit cleaned, etc. One might think that the princess would become less difficult to care for as she grew into a toddler and then a young child, but with her unquenchable curiosity and adventurous spirit she was as much of a hassle as ever. Even now, as she matures into a young lady, Solia can still prove to be a handful.

When the princess' parents passed away suddenly, the entirety of the kingdom mourned, but this mourning was perhaps most keenly felt within the castle's walls. Their passing wounded Lucrezia, but never once did she show just how deeply; she only showed a weak, melancholic smile as she tried to help the grieving Solia however she could.

Now, with the situation embroiled as it is, it seems that changes are on the horizon with the princess' decision to call forth mighty heroes.

--- Powers and Abilities ---

Position: Head Maid
Affinity: Earth
Physical Fitness: Great
Magic Potential: Low
Weapon Specialization: Tonfa, Kanabo

--- Special Attacks ---

Name: Stoneshatter Impact
Type: Melee, Ground-based
Desc: A technique that only functions against enemies who stand on terra firma; Stoneshatter Impact enhances a melee strike so that at the same time it makes contact with the enemy, the nearby ground strikes up at them with equal and opposite direction to that of the melee blow in a pincer attack (i.e. if they are struck with an overhand blow, the ground directly beneath them will surge up; whereas if they`re struck on their front-left side, the ground behind them and to the right will thrust up at them). Though it has practically no set-up time, the hefty fatigue it generates limits how much it can be used.

Name: Earthsplitting Eruption
Type: Short-ranged, Ground-based
Desc: Another technique that only functions against enemies in contact with the ground. Drawing Frala into her emblem, converting it to bright power and focusing that power in her weapon. After charging the power she strikes the ground with her weapon, creating a spiderweb of cracks where she hit. A moment later the ground in a 45° arc in front of her and erupts upwards in a field of spiky boulders. Although the violent rearrangement of the ground and the sudden appearence of the spiky boulders can potentially injure anyone caught within, the real value of this technique is how difficult the terrain is to traverse thereafter. While extremely fit people (knights, heroes, etc.) likely would have no trouble navigating the obstacle, regular foot soldiers would find it nearly impassable.

... *snicker* I am very certain that your behind locked doors teasing of the princess is met with great success. I'm rather easily teased, after all. I apologize for being a hassle for so long (and possibly a bit longer), thank you. *bow of gratitude*

I am curious. Xaltwind. Which are our surrounding nations, and what might be distinctive about them? Since I was the one who declared war against one of them, I feel that I should get to know a little bit about whatever nation it is I'm attacking. Maybe I'm even allowed to choose which to attack? XD Does sound unlikely, but I do have to ask. Also, in a size comparison, which are the bigger nations and which have the better military forces? I'd know this stuff in-game, anyway.

Mostly judged and found okay.
Name: Alam Souta
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Race: Human

Appearance: Not Kassim
Height: 173cm, 5’8
Weight: 155lb, 70kg
Hair color: Black
Eye color: Gold
Skin tone: Slightly tanned.
Misc: He wears what you might expect of your average university student and young adult. Jeans, trousers, t-shirts, sweaters, hoodies, etc. Nothing too fancy, just casual.

So the princess decides the outfit apparently.

Personality: Good-natured, somewhat easy-going, but practical at the same time. Alam would love to do what he enjoys all the time, but like most people realizes he can’t, and like even less, doesn’t get caught up in indulgence.

He takes things seriously, but it’s a practiced response, and far from his true nature which is more inclined to be lazy and laid back. Even when he is serious, it’s rare that Alam’s mood will be somber or grave, there’s usually that upbeat air to him.

All in all, he’s someone who likes to see the fun side of things, even in questionable situations. For all that positiveness though, he does have some issues with crowds. While not really an introvert, he doesn’t do well amongst too many people. To clarify, something like a popular public space, ie, a mall or an amusement park won't be an issue. Put him on a class team for the sports festival, and that's when Alam gets antsy.

Likes: Heavy-physical sports (fighting included), video games, action-oriented novels, spicy foods, some mammals, and instrumental music.
Dislikes: Too much attention, serious fights, reptiles (sue him), overly sweet foods, and sleeping too much (makes him feel lethargic until he can reset the sleep cycle).

Background: Is it uncommon to find someone of Middle Eastern descent who’s been raised in Japan since an early age? Even in this day and age, probably, so there’s obvious a bit of a story to Alam’s unusual childhood.

… Is there?

Well, not really. There’s the fact that his mother is Japanese, while his father Lebanense. The family lived in a small rural town, both parents working jobs, while Alam went to the only school. There wasn’t any tragic case of xenophobia where Alam was isolated for his heritage, although he was a favored target because of his differences. Nevertheless, the bullies quickly moved onto other targets when it became quite clear that Alam was anything but a pacifist.

Well, except for one particularly stubborn bastard who eventually became a friend. They fought when it was Alam surrounded by half a dozen other kids, they fought when it was only the two of them, and they fought while other kids cheered them on; though Alam didn’t like the popularity their scraps gained. It wasn’t the strongest friendship, but the tenuous bond was there.

While there was quite a fuss at first, eventually the adults learned to just turn a blind eye. It wasn’t like either of them got seriously hurt and in their eyes it was just a, if particularly violent, way to blow off steam.

Eventually, his parents moved for their jobs and Alam followed; he said his goodbyes, threw a few last punches, and left the small town behind for the bigger city. He might have left his “partner” behind, but there were plenty of fights for him in his new home. Just not exactly the type he looked forward to. See, the people in the city weren’t so much as looking to have a nice brawl, most strangers weren’t, they just wanted to get things with violence.

Naturally, Alam disagreed with such things and had to take precautions. A “foreigner” was a prime target and if carrying things like brass knuckles, despite their illegality, or just flat out running away was needed, well then that’s what Alam did. It would be a lie to say he didn’t miss the days where he could slug it out, but when there were a few people who wanted to hurt and not just fight, he didn’t stick around.

School was never too much a problem for Alam. Even if he wasn’t anywhere close to the top of the class he managed to hold his own, staying around or just below the average at times. While never academically minded, he did enjoy various aspects of learning and took advantage of spending hours in the library or participating in the occasional sports events.

--- Powers and Abilities ---

Position: Hero of Graelian

Affinity: Magic/Pure (No elemental association)
Physical Fitness: Good
Magic Potential: Average
Weapon Specialization: Knuckle Duster and Tantō.

Special Moves
Name: Brand - Unstable Sigil
Type: Level 1 - Bright Power Open (Melee Explosive)
Desc: By waving his hand over whatever weapon he’s using at the moment, his crest appears upon the weapon and the ability is activated. Any blow that connects, be it with an opponent; on their armor, weapon, or body; a fortification, such as a wall; or even the environment, causes a miniature crest to appear at the hit location. A subsequent hit against the crest will result in a massive release of kinetic energy, blasting the target away. The crests have a limited duration though, and only three can remain active at a time - any additional crests will cause earlier ones to fade away.

Name: Assault - Accelerate Charge
Type: Level 1 - Misc. Emblem Art (Short Range Charge)
Desc: An ability that forms Alam's crest onto the back of both hands. The gathered bright power is then used to create a skin-tight barrier around him which also has the side effect of distorting light, causing his appearance to blur and become hazy. The fact that the ground shatters and cracks under his feet hint at just how fast he's propelled forwards. Combined with the barrier, he's capable of smashing most things aside, and widely diffused Emblem Arts are no exception. The distance traveled is short, and it’s offensive power is mediocre, but it’s speed can outshine even Bright Power Gears. On the other hand maneuverability is hindered, although the skill is not limited to linear movements. A burst of power can adjust his path, but at the cost of defensive capability while too many will cause the skill to fail prematurely.

Name: Devastate - Field of Blades
Type: Short Ranged Area of Effect
Desc: The technique is set up by embedding a knife imbued with his magic in the ground. Activation involves driving the knife downwards another time while a surge of magic acts as the trigger. Typically done so by jumping off the hilt, although a solid punch also works at times. Blades of varying sizes , from daggers (10cm) to short swords (50cm), and made from non-elemental energy erupt in a 10 meter diameter around the knife, although there is a 1 meter buffer zone. The blades withdraw into the earth when the knife is pulled free.

IRC conversation relevant to the sheet above~!

<PlatinumSkink> It appears this backstory includes quite a bit of living under unsavory circumstances. *snicker* I'll have to fix that~!
<Zombehs> Well, it wasn't unsavoury until he hit the big city.
<PlatinumSkink> Yes. That was the part I was talking about.
<Zombehs> Ah. Cool, War Games shall remind him of the "good old days". Or something.
<PlatinumSkink> Great~! Though, one small detail.
<Zombehs> Ja?
<PlatinumSkink> ... I think I would be the one that picked the first hero-outfit, wouldn't I be?
<Zombehs> I'm not sure, can't remember how it happened in the show.
<PlatinumSkink> Prepared ahead of time for the hero? *snicker*
<PlatinumSkink> Well, heroes in this case. *snicker*
<Zombehs> But sure, that's cool. /not like he has a choice apparently
<PlatinumSkink> "And I, I kinda like the gaudy yellow color..." The princess says while averting her gaze a bit with a tiny blush and twiddling her fingers...
<PlatinumSkink> *you're completely free to overrule me XD*
<Zombehs> It's cool, Alam can live/deal with it.
<Zombehs> Although he'll probably be in a fine mood for bullying her for a while.
<PlatinumSkink> "*giggle* Thank you~!" The princess says in a happy tone turning towards you with a happy expression with her tail wagging, seemingly completely missing what you said last.
<Zombehs> "Hah..." There wasn't much he could do without feeling a horrible sense of guilt in this situation. While he did vow to make the princess pay for this, one way or another, he could at least let her be happy for the day.
<PlatinumSkink> ... It somehow felt right to say that part in-character. XD
<Zombehs> :D
