Bael didn't had any objection in handing Darwin the book.
He was disappointed though... That one looked truly interesting. Now, Bael could only hope that the boy was a fast reader and that the book would be available again. To be honest, that was unrealistic dreaming; the boy looked like a hippie, or someone with severe issues... The chances of ever seeing that book again was under 20%.
No matter, Bael just tried to search for another b-
The demon turned himself to look at Lily when she said something about helping her pick something to wear. There was a wide grin on his lips as he started to walk closer to the angel, following with his arms crossed in front of him.
"Lily." He called out, his lips trembling with the urge to laugh... or something like that.
"You should totally get something sexy."
"Eh?" She mumbled, when she heard Bael call out to her. She turned and watched him with wide as he suggested something but...
What exactly does it mean? She thought, quizzically.
"What does... sexy mean?" She asked him, raising a brow.
"Lily." There was an awkward pause after Bael said her name.
And an even oddier closeness that he made sure to create, taking some quick steps closer to the angel.
"Sexy means... It's a slang. I've learned this word a few days ago." In fact he had heard it just yesterday while walking around the party. It was a highly interesting word.
"It means something like attractive, with a mixture of... sensuality, I'm not sure of how to explain this to you. But you need to look sexy to me."
She lifted a brow at him and giggled, smiling up at him. "If you say so. Then.. you're going to help me?" She asked, looking up at him, not at all minding his closeness. She just figured it was his thing and he did it with everyone he knew.
She turned and walked over to a rack of clothes. She picked up a simple white dress, smiling at it. "I like this one!" She exclaimed, pulling it up to her chest. It went down to her thighs and flaired out just slightly.
Bael's eyes twitched.
What is this? Is she flirting with me? I can't understand what exactly she's doing.
She looked over at him, smiling brightly at him. "What do you think, Bael?"
"Lily." The boy addressed her yet again, swallowing dry.
Is she being purposelly suggestive?
"It's a nice dress, but... Isn't it too simple?" Tilting his head, he gave shrugged casually. "Perhaps something more... revealing??"
She tilted her head at him, still holding up the dress. "You... don't like it?" She whispered, pulling the dress down to look at it. She couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. Sure, it was simple but it was pretty... She didn't really need much...
"Then..." She started, putting the dress back up on the rack. She pulled out another dress, this one black and strapless. She raised a brow at it and turned to face Bael, holding it up. "What about this one?" She asked. The dress went down to about her thighs again, and was simple black with a single gold belt.
Bael could feel his cheeks getting warmer as soon as she showed the black dress.
What a strange feeling... Is this...
Oh no, his mind took him directly back to the book about human's body language and their purposes. This could only be one thing: Blushing.
It's okay, everything is good. All I need to do is transform into my true form and this blushing will go away! RIGHT NOW!
"Lily..." Bael began, yet again addressing her by her name... then the boy realized how that wouldn't work. Trying to keep himself from doing anything considered stupid, he simply nodded at Lily, faking a smile. "T-That's... a beautiful dress. It certainly fits my suggestion of sexy, Lily."
She grinned widely, glad he liked it. "Good! Then, I'll get this one and..." She began, with the black dress in one hand, she pulled another white dress off the rack. This one was a bit different. It was the same length but cut, frayed at the end. To Lily, it looked like jellyfish things... She smiled at it. It had exposed shoulders and stopped at the middle of her thighs. "And this one." She said, turning to face Bael with a wide smile.
"Anything else?" She asked, looking around. She walked over to another rack and pulled out a coral colored shoulder exposing shirt. She looked around a bit longer and found a pair of white capri's. She smiled and picked them up as well. She turned to Bael and held the two articles of clothing up to her body. "What about these?" She asked, looking at him.
The boy just nodded his head again when she took the different white dress, decidedly saying that she'd buy the black one and that one. He wasn't even sure of what to say; whenever he thought about trying to say something, a plethora of different words came to mind and he simply decided to be quiet to avoid saying something stupid or something which wouldn't make any sense, at all.
"H-Heh, you should decide about that." He answered when she asked 'anything else', eyeing Lily as she pulled out a coral shirt and a pair of white capri's from somewhere else. Smiling less forcibly now, Bael slowly raised his right hand and gave her his classic seal of approval: The thumbs up.
"That's pretty nice, Lily."
"Good!" She told him, smiling brightly. "Now..." She began, looking around again. She walked over and grabbed a few jeans and a few different colored t-shirts, some plain colors dress shirts and some undergarments, which she hid from Bael. "There." She began again as she walked back to him. "That should give me a good sized wardrobe." She told him, giving him a playful thumbs up.
"A good sized wardrobe?" Bael smirked. "You've already got enough variety to wear during the whole year." He teased her, taking a few steps towards the angel. Though, he turned himself slightly and began to walk around her, oddly circling around the angel while he talked.
"Hmm, Lily. Do you think I should buy something different to wear as well? If you're going to start looking all stylish, I shouldn't be left behind..."
She looked at Bael, eyed the scarf around his neck. She looked around the room for something that would make the scarf a center piece. She spotted a low cut sweater vest with long sleeves and pulled it up for Bael to see. "What about this?" She asked, holding it up to him and pushing him around so that he could look in the mirror.
Bael eyed the sweater, perking an eyebrow. "Uh." He took it in his hands and looked it over at the mirror... His eyes twitched.
"... Isn't this a little too... Formal? I mean, I'm pretty sure my human body isn't that old to wear this." He held the vest against himself, trying to imagine how it'd look on him. He didn't look all that pleased with the results.
She let out a small puff of air and walked back to the rack, looking around again, her lips pursed. She was determined to find something he liked. Maybe if he were so... picky. She pulled up yet another jacket. It was black and went down to about his thighs. She pulled it out and handed to him. "What about that?" She asked, looking him over. Taking no time to let him talk, she picked up a black pair of boots and black skinny jeans and gave them to him as well. "You look good in black..." She said, looking over at him.
Bael felt sorry for stressing her, really. It was just... too awkward, to wear that in a place filled with younglings. Well, it seemed to at least make her determined to find something better; and she did, that jacket was... His eyes sparked up the moment he saw she bring him the dark coat, the boy taking it and nearly hugging it. "Now we're talking, this is so beautiful..." His voice was more of a soft whisper now. While he hugged his adorable coat, his eyes followed Lily as she seemed to take something to match it; a black pair of boots and black skinny jeans.
"OH HELL'S BREATH THIS IS PERFECT." The demon didn't think twice before shouting in excitement. Actually, that was the third time he shouted now... Something wasn't right. He was usually less noisy. Taking a confident step towards Lily, he looked deep at those blue eyes of hers.
"Thank you for finding that, I wouldn't have the patience to do it myself. I owe you my life." The last few words had a slight sarcastic tone, but Bael seemed sincerely thankful.
She grinned at his reaction.
Good.
She smiled warmly at him, happy to see him so excited. "I'm glad." She replied, her voice soft and soothing. She twirled once where she was standing and then stopped to look at Bael again. "Now we'll both be beautiful!" She exclaimed, her expression filled to the brim with joy. She danced over to Bael and then past him, headed for the counter. "Come on, slow poke. Let's go!" She told him, walking toward the door.
"Wait... Do we have to pay for these? I don't... I don't have any money..." She stopped, a worried expression on her face.
Bael couldn't stop thinking about how absolutely fabulous and imposing he would look at the same time. It was as if he could become an antagonist character at any time by just dressing into his dark coat and speaking with an italian accent. The accent was optional, though. He could also speak japanese and claim to be from a japanese crime syndicate. Perfect.
"Well, you don't need clothes to be beautiful." In fact you'd look beautiful even n- Obviously that was just Bael's perverted thoughts which he interrupted. He already felt like a sinner for even thinking that.
... Wait, I'm a demon.
"I mean, you'd look beautiful... wearing anything, Lily. Literally, ev-... O-oh, right, let's go." The demon moved towards the counter, placing the clothes he held on it. His eyes twitched, more than before.
"U-Usually... w-w-when you b-b-buy things, y-you p-pay for t-them, Lily..." Apparently the boy's expression had turned into one of pure terror, showing how dreadful he was finding the fact that he had to spend money. But... he did it anyway, slowly reaching for his pocket, he took all the money he showed earlier.
"There goes the BFFB..." Not that he really had a lot of money, though. He paid for his and Lily's clothes and it left him with about $3.45. Poor Bael.
"Oh..." She said, her head dropping. Now she felt bad. He didn't seem very happy to be paying for it all. "I'll... I'll try to make it up to you, Bael!" She exclaimed, a determined look in her eye. She grabbed her bag of things and began to walk toward the door, making sure Bael was following her.
Bael was certainly following her, but his look of absolute terror had morphed into one of uncertain curiosity. Mostly due to how she worded what she had just said.
"A-Ah, ehm. I don't mind it, Lily... Relax. I think your company already makes up for the expenses."
She sighed, smiling over at him.
Still, I plan on paying you back. She thought to herself.
She shook her head and made way for the door. "How about we head over to our rooms and put stuff down before going out and seeing what the other students are up to. I want to meet as many people as I can." She explained, making her way through them.
"Sounds good, Lily. Where do you want to meet after we're done?" Bael asked, holding out the bags with Lily's new clothes to her. I'm not carrying this, at all.
"I was thinking we'd just go together... but okay. I'll meet you in the garden in a few!" She told him, grabbing her bags and heading toward her own room, her ID card hung around her neck now.
