Next AngoraPost will take some time - currently bogged down with essays.

A couple of notes about the things I asked Legion in a chat: Angora is essentially just guessing that the "thing" is from another plane, the penin started having disagreements because they went poking at the sword with just a bit of questionable desires in their minds to begin with, and the "thing" had a similar effect on them as it did on Angora, amplifying said feelings, and the "explosion of the being's escape" had nothing to do with the being, but was rather just a slight accident involving the sword's magical-energy-channeling properties ... and nightmares are still nightmares, amped further by the "thing".

Curious that Jillian would persist to refer to Gerald as "Remdal", rather than "Glass" (given his apparent distaste for the man, and obvious preference for his "real" surname.)

@cthulu: Would you by any chance like me to post something for Aemoten, too (seeing how my last bit was pretty much entirely Etakar)? On one hand, I had figured she might want to react in some way, on the other, I might have not given you much to respond to...

Sorry hun, I have been super busy and since I am likely to forget (again) if I leave this. I am away from 10-19th of April so I won't be able to post. I'm doing some ambassador work in Vietnam.

It's both a solidifying of her better understanding of his identity, as well as a petty jab at his own habit of calling her by her surname, which she wants him to stop.

Alive, yes. Present, aware. Sorry about not reacting on Skype, I keep forgetting about the dot.

Personally I just wonder why Jillian doesn't just ask to be called "Jillian" if being called "Veldaine" bothers her so much. Hmm... but then again, knowing Gerald as intimately as I do, while he'd be liable to grant her that wish, he'd take it as a victory over her to have made her do so and would probably not be beyond gloating.

I don't have a quote on hand but I thought I remembered that she did ask in some form, and he simply chose not to. Either way, I imagine he will get the hint with the way she keeps stressing his last name(s) in a sort of provocative tone.

I can't believe that I was oblivious to something like iron having a warmer melting point than steel. Even if I wasn't aware of it, I feel like it's something Jillian should have known because she did (and somewhere, still does) have a mild interest in metalworking. Not to mention that her father was a smith. I suppose we'll have to say it slipped her mind somehow. Stupid me :D I should look up stuff like that before I write.

Heh, it happens to all of us occasionally (well... maybe not Shien). I'd honestly forgotten about it myself until I started doing some research on magma and iron to determine whether magma would be hot enough to melt it (what I discovered: sometimes) and just happened to spot the melting point of carbon-based steel while reminding myself of that of iron (the only element I remember the boiling point of by heart is gold, simply because it's 1337 degrees Kelvin (approximately), which is funny).
Besides, Jillian's father was a silversmith/goldsmith, was he not? If so he probably didn't work with iron or steel a lot...

Yeah, probably not Shien. :'D
That's true, although it's fair to imagine that he still would have known how to work with iron and steel. Also, it's not uncommon for jewelry to not be made of pure gold, not just to keep the price down but also to make it more robust given how soft gold is. It's a minor point anyway.

Eh, depends? I'm typically not off in terms of staying true to whatever source I'm basing my claims on (assuming problems don't occur between consciousness and fingers and I don't end up with something entirely different from what I intended to type), but as far as sources go, not all of them are equal, and thus I'm reassessing my knowledge-base all the time. How much cross-referencing I do also depends on how much "weight" I put into the given content - so I might end up with more sheets of paper with numbers on them than actual text when writing hard sci-fi but just wing it based on some interesting article I read a while back for a scifi RP or soft-scifi piece that's not so hard on details.
Incidentally, I'm almost always inclined to rewrite much of my older hard scifi, just because it no longer reads as sufficiently plausible to me. Note that many things I write are blatantly false and/or contradictory just because the characters themselves have misconceptions. If I as me say something dubious, though, feel free to offer counter-points.

Ironically, not entirely sure about the comments on steel and iron, depending on source:
Carbon Steel 1425 - 1540°C
Cast Iron 1175 - 1290°C
Alternatively, another source claims the following, leaving us with "which steel, which iron?":
Steel, Carbon 1425 - 1540°C
Steel, Stainless 1510°C
Iron, Wrought 1482 - 1593°C
Iron, Gray Cast 1127 - 1204°C
Iron, Ductile 1149°C
Other sources will state different values:
Iron, out of the ground, melts at around 1510 degrees C (2750°F). Steel often melts at around 1370 degrees C (2500°F).

I also just about became acutely aware of the similarities between Angora and Jillian's fathers (minus the acquisition of the raw materials, probably).
Hmm. Jack, did you by any chance end up looking at videos of people poking at and/or trying to shovel lava?

Also, "have your cake and eat it, too" allegedly used to be the other way around - "eat your cake and have it, too". Makes a lot more sense that way...

@cthulu: Would you like to share travel commentaries at some point? I'll try to post later today - been a bit hectic on this side...

Ah yes - and I'll be in Frankfurt in June, once again. Will probably remain pseudo-present, though.

Do you want to post again, Ashgan, or should I just have the scene skip to the next morning?

Also, any update on a post for the Angora-Domhnall-Jaelnec-Olan scene?

These two break my heart ^^ it's like they're both socially inept, but in different ways, and they can't really express what they want or how they feel. I like it.

Anyway, feel free to write a skip, I don't think I have anything substantial to add at this point, and a change of scenery would be a breath of fresh air too (and, curiously, it will mark the end of Jillian's first, real, post-filled IC day. In all this time, I got a day from morning to evening down. wew)

In the PM convo, the last post was on 19th of May, by me... @cthulu?

Posted as Domhnall, although I had for the longest time no idea what else he'd do other than look at Angora, slightly at a loss at how to process everything she was telling. (Granted, most of the post is just his thoughts and some background-info, anyway.)

Also, in case you lot haven't noticed, Photobucket just decided to go the "force users to pay stuff that's been free since it was first introduced, without warning" route. So ... I recommend moving them to another service, as opposed to paying the $400 fee. (Which is just beyond ridiculous for a rather basic image hosting service...) Of random ones, picload.org seems to have worked for me (even the picture I uploaded a year before I even made an account there is still up and there). Also, feel free to send me the images in image-form so I can fix the Compendium when I have the time...

On random note, according to one theory that seems quite plausible to me, sea- (and other motion-)sickness is primarily caused by the sensory input from your eyes and balance organs not matching up. Brain feels shifts in balance, but sees a seemingly mostly still environment, brain concludes that you're poisoned and should probably get rid of whatever you ate last to make sure you don't get even more poisoned. Just in case.

In the middle of me trying to write a post (quite literally), people managed to convince me to watch Cloud Atlas with them. Quite long, but not bad movie, I think. A few places dragged a bit since I could predict what exactly was going to happen. Surprisingly brutal, and oddly many Buddhistic references. Also confusing to tell who was who, seeing how they used the same actors in different roles, and the same person was played by multiple actors.

I keep thinking that there should be no point in me even saying anything, that bringing attention to the fact that it's gotten to the point where there's an uncomfortably long wait between posts, particularly with people being on standby waiting. I keep thinking that I've pointed it out so many times in the past that surely you must know how I feel about it... We even made a big deal out of it a while back when the rules changed to guidelines and such.

But here I am despite myself, remarking upon the complete lack of activity, even the basic communication I pleaded for back then. So, time for me to ask: am I supposed to do something? Are you truly in such a lack of time, or do you simply require me to hound you for every single post? Something else? What do I need to do in this situation, people?

Writing this message from my phone as my Internet is a bit dicey at the moment.

As one of the people who had been waiting for some progress in the RP for over nine months, I think it had now come to the point where if there is waiting for a particular person to respond that it is time to move on and just write out the characters that are holding up the RP. Although not naming names or throwing people under the bus, but I have been told by one of the RPers here that there was something written in one of your posts that ruined them the wrong way and was holding back from writing a response as a result. Even as I mentioned to them that there were people who have been waiting months to be back in the RP. As they are refusing to pay ball and think about other players, then writing them out is now the only option until they can resolve any issues that they are facing.

As one said, I'm not aiming to throw people under the bus, but when myself, @yoshua171 and @Rhaevnn Xeno have been waiting for almost a year to post in this RP, some people's patience are close to running out.
