<Snipped quote by Hillan>

See, Smoke Logia is just difficult to deal with, Electrical fire can set anything on fire, which it did, but smoke is just not tangible enough to do it all the time. Xerxes set him on fire on the ship, but he simply pulled his essence away to avoid it. Heavenly Cataclysm only dispersed him, although the lack of oxygen should have affected him on a molecular level, anime science ain't the same as real science. Smoke Logia just has little weaknesses, if someone decided to eat the wind wind fruit then Johnny is done, but other wise, he is gonna be hard to fight.

If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears, for the next time they meet.

Actually, it's the other way around. Smoke is in the vast majority Carbon Dioxide, it blocks out oxygen - which is why we suffocate. It's a lot harder to ignite a flame inside of smoke, essentially, Johnny's smoke decreases the power of Xerxes's explosions by giving them less oxygen to ignite.

Smoker could probably have a decently-good fight against Akainu on an elemental level (No haki allowed.) But he'd be up shit's creek against Aokiji, since Aokiji's low-temperatures would flash freeze him and turn him into a solid.

I think.

The trick would probably be either Haki or better physical stats. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Xerxes probably would have gotten folded in half several times over if it weren't for explosive shielding.

I'd wager his haki's his stronger asset, both against Johnny and against Harambe Anaru.

@Hillan Definitely. At least as far as how much it's helped him get out of all kinds of sticky situations. I'm not sure how Armament would help him other than defensively, now that I think about it. He's a very "blasty" guy.

Luckily, I was re-reading one piece, and happened upon the side arc with the CP9 agents, where Rob Lucci uses life return, to enter a healing stasis thing, so of course, Life Return Ex-Machina saves the day again.

@Hillan You keep bringing up that very low temperatures could essentially freeze smoke solid, whereas higher temperatures are less capable of dealing damage to smoke. Where is that coming from, and is there any source you can use to back up what you're saying? Because from what I'm reading, it is actually possible to set smoke alight in a backdraught/flashover effect due to it containing flammable particles that didn't burn already, though to be fair, that requires more oxygen than was already present in the atmosphere, and so may not be applicable in the case of what Xerxes was trying to do.

EDIT: Also, I'm just wondering when @NachoBachoPacho is going to have his character Awaken his Devil Fruit and just turn into a gigantic gorilla person.

I'm not citing anything, I'm recallign what I'm remembering from Chemistry class, so I might be completely off. It's mostly based off of the fact that Fire needs oxygen to burn, and CO2 is pretty much the opposite of oxygen.

No doubt, he would have been finished from the start if he didn't block Anaru's punch with it on the ship. Armament Haki right? Not sure how that would play out.

Ya, I came upon that info what I was researching yesterday. Smoke is also made up of Carbon Monoxide.

I found this.
(Smoke is made up of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide)
(Carbon monoxide (CO) gas is formed from the combination of a carbon atom with an oxygen atom. Not only flammable, it is also very hazardous since it is very toxic and odorless. It cannot sustain life and is produced, among other things, from incomplete combustion due to lack of oxygen.)
Exactly what Johnny has been doing for the last hour against Xerxes and the rest of the crew. Nitrogen Oxide snuffs out the flame, im not to sure how it will react to the electrical part of it. Again, Xerxes did set him on fire, but he removed his essence to avoid it anyway, whatever that is.

That didn't even occur to me, why didn't that occur to me? oh man, oh boy, oh gee, I want to do that, it'll probably be pretty late into the story though, because of it being an awakening.

@NachoBachoPacho I'm just glad to see Anaru didn't get straight up merked so early on. I've been finding his exploits pretty fun to read so far. Perhaps his survival here might be attributed to unconscious Haki use to defend against the blast? It'd be a cool setup for later on too. Then he'd be really "Solid".

Actually that was part of my plan, the other part was the healing coma, otherwise Anaru would NOT have gotten out of that explosion without permanent injuries, to be frank I should have made him fall into the healing coma right after he crash landed, but I wanted to give him another stupidly over the top line. (I can't help myself!)

Xerxes is gonna have nightmares about Rock Solid in prison. Well, there will be a time were Xerxes vs Anaru can take place without distraction. Observation Haki for the win!

@NachoBachoPacho To be fair, the only Awakened Zoans that have been shown off so far are the Impel Down Jailer Beasts, and it seems like all of them act on little else beyond instinct and power, with no complex thought. Then again, they may well be unique cases as far as Awakened Zoans go, since they are all part of a single group under the World Government. Having said that, I can only imagine what a Giant with a Zoan fruit would be like... or an Awakened Zoan... or any Awakened Logia user, regardless of race, given how strong Awakened Paramecias can end up.

Actually, good question, folks: when do you think Luffy's going to end up Awakening the Gomu Gomu no Mi's power, and what's that likely to do for him? Since, y'know, he's not done it yet, and it seems like a logical next step for him given how much stuff he's achieved with his abilities thus far.

@BCTheEntity We might see Luffy Awaken if he ever fights Kaido. Though, what exactly an awakened Gomu Gomu would/could do is a curious idea all on its own.

I belive we shouldn'tstay constrained to the assumption that all paramecia awakening will be the same as Doflamingo for Luffy.

Here are some ideas,

Turning air into rubber.
Use: flying without G4. Hitting someone directly and the turning the air behind them rubber to bounce them back for another hit. Putting up barriers like Bartolomeo of rubber air.

Power: Body turns to gum
Use: Kind of like Majin Buu. Can reform after cut like buggy, has regeneration abilities like logia. Can still stretch but can take less human like shapes.

@RyoRyoRyoken@LokiLeo789 I'm thinking surfaces in an area around him become very elastic and bouncy at his command. Opponents get thrown off balance by the sudden trampoline underneath them, Luffy gets a massive maneuverability boost by bouncing all over the place, and he could probably also double up the force of his attacks by charging them into a hyper-stretched wall or whatever before firing.

@dragonmancer That is also a point. To be frank, I was thinking your guy's full dragon form would have actually been a proper dragon from the get-go, as opposed to a lizardman, which is definitely more akin to a hybrid form of sorts.
