@boomlover It's not gonna be like a plane where you actually adjust pitch and yaw manually - though for emergency situations there will be a manual override in terms of a control stick. You'll mainly be plotting our course through a terminal and controlling the speed of the ship.

As a BSG fan think of it like the folk that plot the course for the Galactica, they just use consoles.

@boomlover She's 7km long, it'd be too much for one person to manually control that. Even when on manual control the ships A.I double checks to make sure nothings going to go wrong.

I was amused to fine Zone-tan in the OOC this morning. Definitely a great way to start an otherwise boring day in college.

And on second note, Archimedes is now easily my favorite character so far. Asshole robots do it for me.

@OrangeInk I was going to suggest Min-jae and Dakota butt heads at some point, since their personalities are like.. direct causes for headbutts. But that's not romance, so I don't really need to PM you, right?

Archimedes isn't an asshole robot, it's just programmed a certain way. A certain ruthless and to the point way.

Seriously though, Archimedes is an old-style AI in some areas, like for instance following user-assigned protocols. And always remember: "Maintainance>Research>Medic"

Strengths:
-Charismatic. Not in a big playboy kind of way, but he’s just generally a nice guy who has a way with people.
-Pragmatic. He sees the simple solutions. He doesn’t generally overthink things and provides the simple alternative when other (smart) people do.
-Fit. He’s not a soldier, but he’s had basic training and knows his way in a fight. He is healthy and in shape.
-Strong-willed. Or maybe just headstrong. He won’t give up easy. Has the guts to match too.
-Literate. His wife managed to awaken an interest in him for English Literature. It is one of the few academic areas that he does know a thing or two about.
-A good investigator. He’s not Sherlock Holmes, but it’s what he does and he does it well. He will go to great lengths to discover the truth.

Weaknesses:
-His biggest weakness is that compared to the other people on the ship he is very much an average civilian. He’s not as smart as the smart people and not as capable as the soldiers. When the smart people talk, he will most likely not understand half of what they’re saying and when the soldiers fight he will easily be outmatched. He is very much an average Joe.
-He operates within the lines of red tape, but can get frustrated by them. Cases need to be solved, not hindered by technicality. He plays by the rules, but that doesn’t mean he has to like them.
-Having said that, he trusts the system with a certain naiveté that will easily get him in trouble if someone tries to frame him. He may not like the rules, but he will always play by them. Even if that system fails him.

“Of course I did, but surely there are other people who performed better than me. I’m nobody special sir, I’m good at what I do, but nothing that makes me more qualified for this job than any other.”

“Alright, let’s take a look at your file then shall we? You were born to Dutch parents so you’ve survived through extreme circumstances up until the age of eight. After your parents moved to the Roslin Federation you quickly caught up with the school system and managed fine through most of your basic education.

When you were fifteen years old the Three Day War broke loose and cost you your parents. You saved some civilians during the attack making you somewhat of a local hero. Considered old enough to live by yourself you were given limited allowance by the state, but didn’t let that stop you from finishing high school. Afterwards you successfully graduated from the police academy with practically every certificate and elective you could get your hands on. You were accepted into the local police force and quickly rose to the rank of chief.

Meanwhile you somehow managed to woo the lovely miss Sarah Rosenthal, a researcher praised by several major universities and with an IQ of 164, resulting in a surprisingly happy marriage. Continuing on with a spotless record nobody noticed because your district was small and insignificant, you solved almost eighty percent of all cases, almost none of which had to be reopened later.
Five years later your wife and four-year old son die in a car accident. You understand Nick, that most people that ended up on my desk had an experience like this, but none of them had the sense to take a year off duty and get help. In that year you have acquired the help of a certified psychologist and have been confirmed visiting a great number of support groups. You recovered and got faith in yourself again.”

“With all due respect, sir, I got the Faith back again. Not in myself, but in something higher. There’s a big difference there.”

“Whatever you want to call it, it showed that you can swallow your pride where most would swallow a double whiskey. You bounced back. @Sep quick question could Theodore have been on the ship a day before almost everyone else arrived? Considering he is the pilot. If not Where was the ark located before liftoff? And where was the crew of it located a day before?

@boomlover ships been getting crewed for months with important roles being filled as soon as it was ready, so over a year ago. You will have been aboard for the test flight to Mars and the one that flew it.
