A few centuries ago, Luck was a fickle friend. The wheel of fortune would turn and turn, casting princes into ruin and paupers into fame. At any moment, one's luck could take a sharp turn, for better or for worse. Like a lottery, no one could truly control it, merely attempting to survive in the thrashing, violent rivers of fate and destiny.
Altsoba is no exception to this. The first victim has been claimed, and so has the first seal been broken. The horrors and monstrosity gripping the planet have come true, as when a righteous mortal is plunged into darkness and despair, so will the Cage of All Evil begin to break. Blood will have blood, so they say.
Blood will have blood. The Cage is breaking. Sutton Smith was murdered by one once of integrity and grace.
The apocalypse has begun, my children. It does not matter what you do, whether you are kind or foul. Your fate and destiny are unknown to all, with the threads ever spun and ever changing.
Welcome to the end.
@Witch Cat: Daniyal's burns and boils vanish, yet his soul has become tainted. As a witch, he was already heading towards hell, but he is now eternally damned. He has opened the apocalypse and caused the end of the world.
@Lady Amalthea @Sohtem: The press begin to return the generators, pouting almost as they arrive at the hospital. They almost dump them in the parking lot before speeding off, however, one of them has a remarkable similarity to John Moses. He was a travel writer who died just a year ago in a freak rock climbing accident. More alarmingly, however, is the fact that Elizabeth's wounds seemed to have....vanished. It was as if they were never there, and her heart has ceased beating. There's no pulse, and any attempts to revive her are futile.
@Morose: Vivian's body continues to deteriorate rapidly, her eyes constantly flashing black. She doesn't have too long. Better do something--perhaps abandon ship.
@Pundii: The press begrudgingly do as you say. One of them steps apart from the crowd and claps you on the back, smiling a bit with respect. You may notice the name on her badge reads Amelia Pilkvist--the famed anchor for
World News Now. "That was good of you, Leo," she says, before walking off.
@Pirouette: The strange woman flashes you a grin, watching you glance at the photograph. "My master wants her blood," she explains with a whisper, her form almost fluctuating. She seems almost blurry, clearly not human. "Have you seen her?" she asks, with a toss of her hair.
If your characters were not mentioned above, events have either been PMed to you or you are safe....for now.
Location: Jake's
Interacting With: Death
Sutton finished serving Mitsukuri, and wiped down the counters one last time. She waved to the Japanese woman as she left, and went about securing the cash register. The Town Meeting would be starting shortly, and afterwards, practically everyone in town would be coming to Jake's.
She also couldn't deny that she was hoping the reporter would come back. He wasn't too hard on the eyes, and his accent was practically to die for. Smiling softly to herself, Sutton locked up the cash register, and took off the tiny apron around her waist. She hanged it on a hook, glancing into the mirror, only to see someone else staring back at her.
"Sorry, sir, we're closing up," Sutton apologized, turning around to face
the grey man. There was no one there.
Pulling her pistol out from underneath the table, Sutton undid the safety. Slowly, she walked forward, making a careful inspection of each spot of the dinner. Nothing stood out to her. All of the tables were the same, and nothing hid itself underneath them. The fans continued to remain off, with the light outside serving as a decent alternative to the electricity. The jukebox in the corner, however, sprang to life,
music playing from it.
"This isn't funny!" Sutton shouted.
"Show your crazy ass or I will shoot!"There was no answer.
Glancing into the mirror, Sutton saw the frayed hand in front of her face. She shot two rounds quickly, only to have them hit the wall. Through the mirror, she saw the hand grip her, and by an invisible force, she was suspended in air. Boils and burns quickly covered her, and in an instant, she fell to the ground. Her hair and clothing remained in tact, but otherwise, only a charred corpse remained.
The sign at the door still indicated that Jake's was open. The food for the lunchtime rush was still heating up. On the walls, the clocks were stopped at precisely 11:45 AM. Only the burnt and destroyed body of Sutton Smith revealed that anything happened there.
The first seal had been broken.
The Reverend and the Sheriff
Location: The Town Meeting
Interacting With: The Good People of Altsoba
There was something wrong with the Reverend's daughter, and there wasn't anything he could do right now. The mayor left everyone all alone there, so there was no one else who had any authority in the town. He had to be at that meeting, no matter what. Zach knew he had to run it, but maybe he could get the Reverend to help him. He probably knew more about this than anyone else.
He got into his car and headed to the Town Center. A few people were already there, along with a news crew. They had somehow gotten a generator in with them, allowing them to film and broadcast the meeting. He scanned the crowded square, eventually finding the Reverend. He waved at him, and motioned to the crowd, shrugging a little. Once everyone was in the square, Zach walked up to the front, meeting up with him there. Everyone quieted a little, and looked at the two off them.
" Good afternoon everyone!" he said to the crowd of people, "As most of you know, there have been several problems over the past day, and these incidents involve the whole town. Several of the town"s citizens have left so far because they are fearful of what is happening in the town. I have Reverend Adder with me, who has thankfully agreed to help with the meeting, since he knows a lot of what is happening here. Now, I"ll turn things over to him, and see if he can shine some light on what is happening here".The Reverend stepped forward, his hand folded neatly on a gilded bible. The spine didn't have a single crease or crack in it, as if it had never been opened before. Stepping behind the podium, the Reverend set it down, and folded his hands neatly.
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."He paused, scanning the crowd.
"That's Jeremiah 29:11. In these perilous and fearful times, I take a special comfort in that. God has a plan for us-- God has a plan for us all. He is not condemning us to fear. He is not causing these disasters, these famines, these attacks... These are perils made by us."Glancing down, he placed his hands on the podium.
"Who are we to question God? Who are we to sin, and declare it is in God's name? We must have faith in the Lord, for if we have lost that, then the apocalypse has truly come, and Satan's children shall run the Earth."Bowing his head, the Reverend offered a prayer, before taking a step back, done with his theatrics.
"Thank you Reverend Adder for that. Now everyone, we need to remain calm about this. We need to prepare for whatever comes our way. There is nothing more we can do, so stay calm and keep going about your usual business if you can. We need to stand together when the time comes, so stay on guard. If you notice anything strange, be sure to let me know at the Police Station. " he said.
A young forensic tech came forward, Cecily was her name. She tapped Zachary on the shoulder and whispered something in his ear. His face grew grim, and he turned to her nodding silently. She walked away, and he let out a sigh, turning towards the crowd once more.
"Alright, I have some very grave news concerning our mayor. As most of you know, he was in the last group to leave town. His body was found in the woods, not long ago. It appears that he was killed by a grizzly, but we will be investigating into this don"t worry. Currently, the next person in line to run the city is me, since everyone between the mayor and myself in the line of command has decided to leave town. If anyone has any questions, now is the time to ask." the sheriff said, stepping back from the podium, and waiting for the onslaught of questions.
