Jean stopped for a moment, and heard faint giggling. He picked up his sabre, and with malice in his tone, spoke. "I'll cut you out of that tree if you don't show yourself." He smirked, his tears gone. "Besides, Aya is dead to me. She died because she was weak." He spat. "The weak disgust me. We don't need them in the fight against the vampires. She would just slow us down, don't you agree?" He stood up, laughing. "She deserved it."

Eleanor doesnt move from the tree... "A-Aya was... was not weak... She gave her life for us... AND THIS IS HOW YOU PAY HER BACK?!" Her voice slowly seems to become slightly different to how it started "If it wasnt for her, you would be dead! Just like everyone else!" Eleanor jumps down from the tree, her eyes filled with tears "Y-you dont understand what I go through each day! Knowing that I should of been the one to die, not her!" She draws the Katana known as Asuramaru

"Trust me, she was worthless. Just another pawn in the game of chess that is life." He grinned, readying his sabre, Gengu. "And you don't want to fight me. It's just pointless violence that anger-filled brats use to express their feelings, like you." He laughed. "You can't let yourself get caught with people like that. The vampires will take advantage of it." He shook his head, still smirking. "Ah, you have so much to learn. Now, brat, move. I need to take my midnight stroll."

Eleanor clenches her fist as she trembles a bit with rage "I was Aya's partner, I defended you and all the other kids when vampires were outside our house... I was the one who distracted the vampires while you guys ran. SO maybe I am an anger filled brat, but my anger is caused by the fact you are saying Aya is weak" She put her other hand on the katana like you are meant to to wield a katana. "The vampires will take adavntage of it, but at the moment I dont see a vampire around" She smirks "I have learnt more in my life time than you will ever know, you dont even remember what happened on that night"

"Are you kidding? I would have loved to see the weakling killed! I didn't get a good enough view!" He readied his sabre. "Listen, I'm not trying to be mean, but I can't get attached to people like that." He pinched the bridge of his nose, and reached out his hand. "Truce?"

She glares at you and she seemed pissed "You should of died rather than Aya, she deserves to live unlike you. I cant believe we defended you from the vampires during our escape" She sheathes Asuramaru and storms off completely ignoring the hand Jean extended to her. She walks off into the distance and cries a bit before slapping herself "I hate him, I hate them all. But I must stay strong, I know Aya would want that" Eleanor finds a nearby sheltered area and makes that her bed for the night. She goes to ''sleep'' for the night

Jean mentally slapped himself. "Idiot, idiot. You're so dumb. No one wants to hang out with you, you're just a soulless jerk." He sheathed Gengu and tried to follow Eleanor. "Listen, I'm sorry, ok? You're right. I deserve to die a horrible fucking death, that's the truth. I'm just a jerk, ok? Just completely ignore everything I f*cking say." He started to walk away. "Listen, if you want to join me because you forgive me, just walk around a bit. I'll appear." He laughed. "I don't think that'll happen though." He strolled into the shadows.

"So, you say you're able to stealth me, Lyn?"
"Sure, for at least a few minutes. That should be enough to prove what I said, right?"
"I hope so. But then again, if what you've told me about Aya is true, then I'd wish it isn't."
"You're just going to have to kill her."
"I couldn't watch her die again, Lyn. Let alone kill her. If she's alive, she's going to stay that way."
"If she stays alive when you meet her, you won't be."
"Aya would never hurt us intentionally. I'm sure of it."

Lyn was a strange demon weapon. She claimed to actually want to kill vampires; Valerian hadn't even been through the test that the other demons had put the others through. She simply asked him if he would help her; Valerian accepted. Yet he didn't realise how much this weapon hungered for the culling of vampires. Sure, he could repress her easily; but he could feel her anger. A cold, harsh anger, that would never be nullified except when all the vampires were dead. But he didn't have to listen to her at all.

"It's strange that Guren chose me to be with you."
"Hmm. The buffoon probably thought it would be funny to put people who felt completely the opposite together. But don't worry; I'm sure you'll have vampires as much as I do soon enough."
"Revenge is a dirty thing. It corrupts and poisons your mind, causing you to make irrational decisions."
"Hmm. I'm already corrupted enough, aren't I? What I'm really wondering is why Guren sent you to get your demon weapon before your..." Lyn sniggered, "Friends."
"I wonder that too. I also wonder why he let us do as we pleased."
"Well, he's letting you do what you want. I'm being forced to tag along."

They soon reached the area that the barracks were in. Supposedly where Aya was.

"You've only got a few minutes of stealth. Go on."

He headed towards it, hoping that maybe Aya was the same as she was beforehand.

I almost feel bad for him.

Aya slept quietly on her back as she had in life. No one else was in the barracks with her. She woke upon sensing someone in there with her and she sat up, ready to grab her weapon just in case. She sniffed the air. Human? What were they doing here? She looked and she saw Valerian standing there. She froze. "No. You're not here...I must be dreaming...That's it...I must be dreaming...Valerian is safe somewhere..." Her lips were parted slightly as she stared at what she thought was an apparition. She had been seeing apparitions of the other orphans she had saved that night she was supposed to die. Her blue eyes were wide in disbelief.

"A-aya?"

Valerian was shocked. He hadn't truly believed what Lyn had said, since how would she know? But the proof was right in front of him. She hadn't died. She still had blue eyes. She was still human.

"I-it's me, Valerian..."

He staggered forward, ready to embrace her.

This can only end badly, Val. It's a shame you don't listen to me.

Aya stepped back, her eyes wide. "Valerian? It's best if you don't come closer." At feeling him embrace her though, she stood there for a moment, tears in her eyes, then she hugged him tightly.

"Alright, Geng. Where are they?" Jean asked, calmly. "Here you go." The demon replied, happily. Jean ran through the forest, stopping when he saw a group of four vampires. He ran up behind a straggler, cleanly slicing the vampire's head off. The others noticed, and formed a circle. Jean dropped from a tree, kicking two away while impaling another, and using him as a meat shield. The vampire slid off his blade. He jumped back into the trees, pulling another vampire with him, dropping it after slicing it in half. The remaining vampire looked around, nervous. "This is for the humans." Jean whispered in his ear as he killed him.

Aya gasped as she felt him embrace her and she smelled him. She had never felt the apparitions before...So this must be Valerian. "Valerian, it really is you!" she whispered.

"Aya, we have to take you back to the others. They'll be so happy to know you're alive."

He smiled, ending the embrace. He felt happy that she had recognised him even though it had been four years.

He then remembered what Lyn had said.

"You're a vampire now, right?"

Jean walked back to the barracks, tired, but staying outside. "Eleanor? Listen, if you're still awake, I'm sorry, ok? We all have to do something to cope. Me, I build a wall. Between my feelings and me. I'm trying to cope, that's all. Sorry."

Aya nodded. "Yes, I'm a vampire now. Have been for four years. That's why it's not safe for you here. Even...Even if I was accepted there...I can't be far from the queen for very long." She swallowed hard, fighting her bloodlust. "I'm sorry, Valerian, but this time you have to leave me behind too." There were tears in her eyes, making them shine in the dim light. She held him at arm's length, looking him over. "You've grown so much...So tall and handsome...So brave. But you've got to go before someone catches you here. Tell... Tell Ellie nothing about this meeting, okay?"

Eleanor doesnt reply, she lies somewhere in the barracks pretending to sleep knowing full well that Jean didnt need to explain. But she was happy that Jean did explain to her. She waits for Jean to leave before she unsheathes Asuramaru. She stares at the blade for a bit before falling asleep.

Jean dreamed of death. The death of his parents. The death of Aya. And, the very possible death of his comrades. They were in the middle of a battle, when the vampires surrounded them. This is when they impaled Rai. Jean tried to save him, but it was too late, and the vampires took his blood. Valerie was next. Him and Jean were back to back, but he tripped, and the swarm of vampires took him, too. Then it was just Jean and Eleanor. They were running, knowing they couldn't win. The vampires dropped down, and grabbed Eleanor. Jean tried to pull her away, but she recoiled from his touch, and met her end.

"B-bu- Okay, you have my word." He didn't need to ask for a reason; it was Aya, why should he?

"You should probably leave now, Val. Before the other's come."

"Alright, Lyn. Aya, I'll be off now..." He stepped forward and kissed her on the cheek. "I stil can't believe it's you." He smiled.

He left silently without anymore words; it was painful to leave Aya like this, but he knew they would likely both die if found together.
