Foy Coiffeur

Location: (in front of) Prometheus - Newhope (Docks)

Despite the somewhat depressing circumstance of Foy's status with his business and family, a state that while temporary did limit his higher-end options, Foy was determined not to let any opportunity fall by the wayside. This was good. It was a public outing, semi-formal at best, where he had an opportunity to make new contacts and associate socially with his close friend and confidant. He would not even let the overwhelming snark of Captain Crowe dampen his mood on this occasion, responding to her with as much genteel optimism as his breeding would allow. "I've not the precognitive clarity to posit the actions of your decadent attire, Captain. I've only the basest of notions that, were your magnificently framed dress (cleaving to you as such) to pen a diary entry, it should contain sentiments of appropriate gratitude indeed!"

Naturally, he could not help but notice the restrained guffawing of the ship's resident Shepherd. He found it curious, really, as to why one would find humor in the application of upper-crust Farradayan manners. It seemed epidemic. The thought occurred to him that maybe, just maybe, additional examples of such matters of etiquette were needed in the man's vicinity so that he might see the light of debonair propriety given silver tongue. Why, it might even be a saint-worthy service.

He was about to voice this idea until he remembered that Jahosafat very recently gave a return query after his assessment of Foy's own observations of the scene unfolding, which naturally demanded he answer with humility and grace. "Indubitably, my good sir! You are as the flashy, Proud Peacock combined with the ambitious hunting instincts of a Mighty Mastiff, sniffing out the boldest and most dazzling of partners to offer your arm!" He punctuated the various nouns and adverbs of his highly sophisticated rant with highly affirming points and gestures, often stepping closer to the two of them and backing away as the observance of personal space became necessary. "And in sooth, she surely is likewise just as lucky to have acquired two such as we, jewels in the crown of her undoubtedly memorable tenure! Though (and you shall have to forgive me, friend of mine), but I daresay to proclaim her a sister might be a minuscule poorly aimed; a cousin perhaps, or better placed as a peer! It may be in bad form to commit one's self to a sibling for what proposes to be a raucous evening of carousing and debauchery, if you take my meaning sir!" An exaggerated wink issued from underneath his very fine bowler hat, rather overtly drawing attention to the last few words of his comments.

"Ah, but I have desire to be off from this plebeian dockfront and on to the festivities! There's drinks and 'stache-ing to be had; whyever do we tarry?"

William Harper

Location: (in front of)Prometheus - Newhope (Docks)

The look of utter confusion seemed glued to Harper's face as he witnessed the growing conversation between Foy and Jahosafat. It was the look of someone listening to a fully grown adult relate in painful detail the childhood explanation of Where Babies Come From, complete with cabbage patches, storks, and "special hugs", but genuinely believing every word of it. This was a problem that would only get worse with the application of alcohol. God help them all.

He took a little hope when Anisa met his eyes. There might be another mostly sane person in the crew. That thought was particularly uplifting to begin with, but the realization that normalcy was indeed the crushing minority threatened to fill him with annoyed depression. This aside, it looked like the crew was mostly all assembled outside of the ship, but still seemed to be waiting on something. A quick head count revealed that their other pilot had yet to arrive. He did hope to have a word or two with her as the evening progressed. There seemed to be an element of hostility he wished to squash; camaraderie between like professionals was far preferable, and alcohol was a fine social lubricant to ease those particular gears along. If she intended to stick with the ship, it might put a damper in his intentions for the evening. Still, reviewing his conversational options otherwise for the venture into Newhope's nightlife, he would be trying like hell to associate with Dorothy, Anisa, and/or a shaded corner with an easy path of egress and a clear view of the main entrances. Large crowds had the effect of making him a touch paranoid, as of late.

Dorothy Pender

Location: Prometheus - Cargo Bay

Hearing Anisa say her own voice, Dorothy was mentally prepared for the scolding of a lifetime. Her eyes widened slightly with surprise as Anisa sounded relieved, if anything. She couldn't help but feel relief as well. It seemed that business was off the table for now - and instead, they were simply acting like friends. As much as Anisa was her captain, she was also Dorothy's best friend. She chuckled slightly at Anisa's remarks. "I'm afraid you may be on your own," Dorothy admitted. "Seen plenty of drunks and bars for a lifetime," she explained.

"But if you give me a mo' before you depart, I can fix you up something to take the edge off - though with these two, it'll likely need to be extra strength." She looked in the direction of Anisa's gaze as she spotted the other pilot, Harper. She hadn't gotten a proper chance to judge his character, but he wasn't running his mouth constantly like Foy and Jahosafat, so perhaps he'd be someone Anisa would feel comfortable palling around with. She herself wasn't usually the most fun at bars. In the language of the Earth that Was, she was THE designated driver. She monitored everyone's alcohol consumption, made sure all of the bills were paid, and felt a need to keep a close eye on everyone's vitals. It was a habit from her childhood that wasn't going to go away at any point. It was how she had started her medical career, after all.

"Not sure if Daphne's joinin' you all - she's got a fair deal of work to do," Dorothy explained to Anisa. Of course, the real reason Dorothy doubted Daphne would be going to Lady Luck's was the same reason she didn't want to attend herself.

Fitz Townsley

Location: Lady Luck's

Fitz just stood awkwardly where he was when he came in, only jumping a bit to the side to avoid being trampled by anyone trying to leave or enter. As he took in his surroundings, his face paled as he realized just how out of his element he was. There were what looked like gambling tables filled with cards and dice, alcohol everywhere, people everywhere. He gulped a bit and for the first time since he left Osiris, he regretted it. He should've just stayed in the lab amongst people he had known for years, the very few friends in his life that he could speak to with minimal stuttering. Taking in a deep breath, his knees trembled a bit and Fitz grabbed onto them, as if that would make them hold still.

"W-w-w-what have I done?" Fitz whispered to himself, moving again to miss getting knocked into by another patron. He wanted nothing more than to run out of the establishment and find the fastest transport shuttle back to an Alliance planet that there was. He'd apply at the universities and hopefully get his old job back, if not one similar. Everyone had a need for an engineer who could, given enough time, figure out just about any system. He could do that - he was confident that he could. It was just the application of what he already knew to something that was unknown. To him, that was what engineering was all about.

The board game felt a little heavy, seemingly gaining weight the longer and longer Fitz thought about running away.

Daphne Pender

Location: Prometheus

Daphne was still debating about whether or not she should go. Memories of her unpleasent childhood danced through her mind. It would give her a chance to get out of this ship, with permission anyway. She didn't know what her sister was planning on doing though, though it did make her wonder. Daphne didn't really want to stay on the ship by herself, or with her sister at the moment.

Having decided to go along with anyone else who was going, even though she had never been much of a drinker. Daphne headed out towards where everyone was meeting up out on the docks. Being off ship with permission and with others would be better than being by herself. She walked up to where the others were, since she didn't really care much for dressing up. She avoided making a comment about Anisa's outfit though, since she did not feel like getting yelled at again today. "Are we going then?" she asked as she looked at the gathered group. She still wasn't too sure if Dorothy was going, but she didn't really care.

Newhope

Luck be a Lady tonight, Luck be a Lady tonight.... Luck isn't with Fitz on this evening. Seemed that the little ruffians that had followed him into the toy store were back. Whether this was just coincidence or this was their normal evening hang out was anyone's guess but they had already managed to pick the pockets of half a dozen people in the place so far without being noticed. Then one of them spotted Fitz and grinned, his probably never have been brushed teeth showing as he did. Oh he could still win the bet after all. Moving through the growing crowds he kept his eyes on Fitz as another of the ingrates started coming up behind him. It was a classic set up. One behind to trip, another coming towards the mark to bump into. With all the jostling, it would be easy to get his pocket and pretty much anything else he had on him. Or so they hoped.

Back at the docks, Atticus couldn't wait for the shit show to get under way. "Gods Speed people! Let's have some fun!" the Preacher said as he went ahead and started making his way off the docks and towards the town proper. He was ready to stretch his legs planet side, have a drink, take care of some of his vices and spend the rest of the evening confessing to himself. Which actually was a lot more like bragging. Either way, he was determined to have some fun. "Come on Sisters! Keep up or I am giving you nun outfits of old for the holidays!" he said in a joking manner with a wide grin on his face. He meant it as a joke but he was half serious. He would probably do it anyways just because he would love to see the look on their faces. It would be priceless.

Jahosafat slapped his old friend on the back. "That she is my good man. What better luck could such as her or any of these have than to be seen in town with two such as ourselves. I dare say we shall show them how the most enchanted of the lot do perform out in John Q. Publics eye. Taste, talent, tact. Though, if i may be so bold my tact might fall to the way side a bit come later this evening if the establishment pleases me. I could do with a right ripping mustaching if you catch the winds," Jahosafat laughed. "It seems our priest does wish to beat us to the punch. Perhaps arriving before us will be his only chance to gather a woman of the arm. Tell me, what level of sin is it to steal from the father? Would it be sinful to steal of a virtue considering what the prize maybe?" he jested. "At this moment I only am holding my position on this dock to wait for the Lady in Red," he winked before looking over towards Anisa.

Anisa let out a breath as she looked over towards Dorothy. "Bitch please. You can't avoid it all the time. You need some fucking time off, same as me. Now get yer shit and be back down on these docks in five. That's a fucking order girl," Anisa said sternly to Dorothy saying she wasn't coming. As Daphne came out and it seemed like she was joining them a little smirk crawled across the Captains features. "Aww shit, you have to come now."

Sighing a bit she leaned in. "Listen, it's been a tough few days for all of us. You are the only one I fully trust. At least have a single drink with me? A toast to Jackson. He deserves it from us," she said quietly before righting herself and looking at Dorothy in the eye. It was obvious the Captain was holding a lot of emotion back right then. She knew how much Dorothy hated drinking and drunks, but she also knew that Jackson meant a lot to the both of them. They all had been together a while and there still hadn't been any real goodbye type of moment for Jackson. The Captain needed her best friend right then.

Foy Coiffeur

Location: (in front of) Prometheus - Newhope Docks

Foy chortled a hearty and genuine chortle, listening to the words of his fine and stalwart compatriot. "Ho ho ho hoooo... as a certainty, chum of mine! I most wholeheartedly agree, that particular trio of alliterative descriptors perfectly befits the proper mantra of a Gentleman perusing social environs - Taste, Talent, and Tact. I might amend this last point upon the instance of one acting in a manner contrary to those virtues or threatening to upset one's moments of repose, altering to Tactic. Something of a more martial and decisive nature, with positive oodles of discretion."

Straightening his tie and refastening his platinum tie pin, the dapper gentleman continued, "So far as our more godly associate is concerned, I worry not about the spiritual ramifications of such matters. I am no theologian, and I must admit a sense of reigning apathy on the dour and unwavering topic of "Sin", brother of Farraday's arms. Regardless of his presence, were I gifted with a Reader's sense of clairvoyance, I too might predict the onset of a right and proper 'staching in our future; by strength of charisma or coin, matters not to me. Naturally, you recall my philosophy on the otherwise publicly taboo subject, yes?" Foy did not particularly wish to get into details, being in mixed company. "What does give me concern, dearest Jahosafat, is that the Gentleman of Starched Collar is a few paces closer to the jocularity than we. By your leave then, my good sir? We must away, and just the second that propriety dictates that it must be so."

Thankfully, the debonair fellow had a reputation of taciturn professionalism while the heat was on. Be it stabbing, sniping, or engaging in fisticuffs, Foy was ever the direct, smiling sociopath that one needed in that moment. However, this was leisure. All bets were off.

William Harper

Location: (in front of) Prometheus - Newhope Docks

In Harper's mind, this was taking way too long. He didn't particularly enjoy spending more time out in the open than was necessary, particularly now as it was getting dark out and they had a break-in earlier that day. Even Anisa's insistence that he accompany her to get the ship, despite the fact that he mistakenly took it for trust and not a security matter, had come to put just a trace more paranoia into his thoughts that evening. Everyone was present. It was time to go.

Unfortunately, there really wasn't a physical approach that he could take to speed things along. Some of these people were weightier, more experienced fighters than himself. Plus, he couldn't utilize his big wrench in the matter of getting people moving along. Sadly, he had left it inside. (Not that he would actually consider it seriously, but the mind wanders into inappropriate areas sometimes.) Instead, he comported himself with a rather businesslike note in the manner of a dutiful Lieutenant, approaching Anisa and Dorothy with hopeful but neutral sentiment.

"Ma'am? And ah, ma'am? If I may, I get that this piece of R & R is necessary, especially with us just getting to know each other. The truth is, I'm not sure if I want to go, either. But we need to stick together, and if you will forgive my presumption, you two should probably talk. I will be happy to keep conversation with the less sociable of us, seeing as I'm right there with them."

Decent enough sentiment, unless one surmised that the reason he suggested they stick together was that there was not an overabundance of trust established. "That being said: Captain Crowe, Doctor, I suggest we get this started. Ma'am and ma'am, if you will please excuse me for speaking freely, let's begin the evening." Harper knew if Dorothy found a way to stay on board the ship, he would use it as an excuse to stay, himself. He could use some semi-private quiet time. Anisa didn't seem to want that for anyone, so he might as well go with it.

Turning his attention to Daphne, he remembered his relatively mannered upbringing, be it not quite as mannered as some of the crew. "Miss Pender? May I escort you into town?" he inquired, offering her his arm.

Mei Qiáo

Location: Newhope - The Docks

Mei hurried along as quickly as her wounded leg would allow her. This was her last shot really. Otherwise she would have to find transport off this planet. That would be fairly easy. Either hiding out on board a ship or stealing one herself. The ends justified the means anyway. Thankfully, it seemed that people paid her little mind as she walked. Even her new Duster jacket got very few looks. She wondered if she looked the part of a Browncoat?

Jacqueline Croix

Location: Newhope - Lady Luck

Ah that sweet, innocent boy seemed to found himself some trouble. She saw the exchanged looks and the recognition, that little spark, in their eyes that they found a new quarry. That tingle always made her smile. She watched the two set up for the attempt. A classic ploy, in her book. One she would call....fucking basic. It was an embarrassment to thieves everywhere really. She would not sit idly by. Not when she saw the opportunity for fun.

She polished off her drink before she stood up, adjusting herself for maximum effect (letting the ladies get some air, of course) before she sauntered over. As the men began, she quickly put one heeled boot in front of the man, tripping him up. She tried to nab his ill-gotten gains herself as he fell, but he dropped like a sack too quickly than she anticipated. It was no matter. She didn't necessarily want what he had, just wanted to embarrass him a little. Since he was now almost licking her boots, she succeeded in her task.

She walked over to the cute boy and put an arm around him "Darling, lover! So good to see you. I do hope these nasty men weren't thinking of hurting you. That would be a no-no, especially in this place." Jackie leaned over as if to kiss Fitz on the cheek, instead whispering in his ear "Follow me over to the bar and I'll explain why a nice piece of ass like you needs to be more careful, sweetcheeks." She giggled like a school girl before gently pulling Fitz. "Come with me, handsome. I saved us a seat at the bar!"

Daphne Pender

Location: Docks

She looked around at the group, and noticed that she was the last one to show up. Looking over at her sister, it was clear that Dorothy wasn't really wanting to go. She knew the reason why, she also knew that her sister never really cared for parties or anything. The others looked ready to go already, and from Atticus' comment, as well as the fact that he was starting to head off to town made it obvious that a few people were getting antsy about heading out. She was actually wanting to hurry out into the town, earlier she had done some wandering, but didn't actually go into any of the buildings. It would be interesting to say the least.

Daphne was torn between waiting to see if her sister actually did come along, or just heading off after the preacher. However, it looked like the Captain had already made that decision for her. She hardly noticed Harper until he started talking to the two of them. After watching them for a moment, she was surprised to see him walk over to her. This was definitely not something that she was used to. She was starting to think that she probably should talk to him, get to know him a little better, though she doubted that she would ever consider him a friend. She looked at him, and said "Uh, sure," as she accepted, after a slight hesitation.

Dorothy Pender

Location: Prometheus - Cargo Bay ---> Dorothy's Quarters ---> Cargo Bay

Dorothy wasn't sure if she should be surprised or not that Daphne had decided to join them. Her sister had been working on her task for a while now she supposed and it was possible that she had finished, but Dorothy doubted it. Not every piece on the ship could've been cleaned by now, as most people still kept their personal guns on them. But at any rate, she had done her best and Anisa seemed to be fine with Daphne joining.

She didn't find Harper to be presumptuous at all. He was right. She and Anisa did probably need to talk. And if he was going to keep the three guys from being too much - or at least, keep them away from the pair of them - then perhaps it wouldn't be too bad. She didn't like bars or alcohol, but she could do one drink for her friend.

"I'll bring that anti-anxiety shot to go, then," Dorothy said. If Anisa needed her there, then she'd be there. She headed back into the ship and up to her personal quarters, quickly going through her belongings until she found one of the few dresses that she owned. It was a little old fashioned, but she felt more comfortable in those sort of dresses. It was a matter of personal preference. Hesitating for a moment, Dorothy put her hair up in a bun. She had to resist the urge to put her jacket on top of the entire ensemble. Her best friend wanted a night on town and a drink to one of their fallen friends. The least she could do for Jackson would be to leave the aviator coat behind.

Exactly five minutes after Anisa had ushered her off, Dorothy returned to the cargo bay. She hoped that there wouldn't be any rowdy comments, but there were a lot of unknowns in the crew -- namely, the pilot, Foy, and Jahosafat. But at any rate, she doubted Harper would suddenly act insane. He seemed to have been stable, for the most part.

Fitz Townsley

Location: Lady Luck's

Fitz was entirely unaware of the ploy going on around him. He hadn't noticed the looks from the pair that had attempted to steal from him earlier - he wouldn't have even recognized them. Royus had been the one to catch a would be thief in the Toy Store. Fitz, meanwhile, was practically oblivious the entire time to all manners of thievery going on around him, even the ones specifically targeting him. Hearing someone fall to the ground behind him, Fitz tried to dart out of the way, only for an incredibly attractive woman to pull her arm around him and then guide him away.

"W-w-w-w-what...?" Fitz asked quietly. What was she even talking about? No one had been trying to hurt him...Had they? The confusion was clear on his face, and he followed her over to the bar, only because that seemed to be the path of least resistance. But at the same time, he was regretting more and more stumbling into this place. He should've stayed and looked around the Toy Store some more.

Newhope - Docks -> Lady Luck

"Of course! Now, go ahead and catch up with the starched collar. I will be with you in two shakes of a lambs tail once I have that stunning Captain of our back on my arm," Jahosafat said with a tip of his hat. He did not want to hold his old friend up and they couldn't exactly let Atticus get first dibs on whatever the establishment they were going to would have to offer. Turning he looked over to Anisa and straightened his cufflinks. It seemed that Harper was going to be escorting the youngling, after he had had a few words with the captain that was. "Or you would wait and escort the doctor if she is attending."

Anisa nodded over to Dorothy, more than happy to wait. "Might be wantin' to bring enough to knock out an elephant, probably take that much to make either of those dandy's doze," she said with a smirk. Who knew, they might been to wrangle those two. They seemed to be a bit to energetic about... Everything. Her brow rose slightly as Harper went to Daphne and asked to escort her. Even more so when she accepted. Maybe the girl was finally growing up a bit since she didn't pull her usual attitude with Harper. Granted they weren't flying right then, so she wasn't going to hold her breath that it lasted.

The boy that was tripped growled slightly under his breath. "Nutin' like that miss! I just be tripping over them big feat of yers," he said trying to play it off before picking himself off the ground and scuttling off. His partner in failed crime meeting him over across the room. They kept looking over at the two and their failed chance to win the bet as they spoke between themselves out of ear shot.

Once Dorothy returned Anisa let out a small breath of relief. "Nice," she said with a smile to her oldest friend. Her eyes closed a bit as she heard Jahosafat come up to her side.

"Classic, elegant. My dear Doctor Pender, you are look just stunning. That color fits you far better than your normal attire. I dare say, you will leave many a man fit to be tied this evening. If he is lucky that is," the dapper ebony mouth said before offering his arm to Anisa and the group finally headed out. Anisa found it hard not to tell Jahosafat to shut the fuck up as they headed towards the Lady Luck. He went on and on about color combinations, fabrics, dress cuts, and more that he felt would looks just marvelous on the two women. God she needed that drink badly by the time they got to the Lady Luck and made their way inside.

There wasn't a table free but there were spots along the bar. As quick as she could she undid her arm from Jahosafat and grabbed Dorothy by the arm. "I gotta get a drink before I shoot that man," she whispered before beelining it for the bar. Taking a deep breath once she got there she held it and counted to ten in Chinese under her breath. Atticus had made it there before the rest of them and already was at the cards table, a pile of chips in front of him and a waitress in his lap. He looked as happy as a clam taking care of his vices. Jahosafat stood there looking around and seeming to plan out what he would do first.

"Oh still my beating heart. A dance floor. I must make my presence known there sooner or later this evening. I feel the need to prance like a proud lion this evening!"

Foy Coiffeur

Location: Newhope - Docks -> Lady Luck

"Posthaste, my loquacious companion! exclaimed Foy. "I believe the good doctor has expressed a desire apart from my attentions; at the very least until the first highball change her opinion. I am wearing my pleated trousers, you see. When combined with alcohol, they become positively magnetic. Pleated trousers, indeed. Tipping his own hat and taking off after Atticus at a jog. As he caught up to the Foysculpted Parson, he engaged the man in dialogue befitting someone of his station and experience. Oh, Shepherd? I say there, Atticus old boy... whyever must you accelerate beyond the desires of your cadre of fellow dock pedestrians? It might be misinterpreted as the act of a boorish individual, of which a minute minority of this crew holds any claim." He came to walk alongside the advancing priest, giving him a sharp and witty smile. "I've an idea, Shepherd. Myself and the highly esteemed Dr. Jahosafat Moreau were just engaged in dialogue concerning the appropriateness, or lack thereof, in casual and open displays of the fracturing of Biblical ethic. That is to say, how shall we acquire full understanding of the error of our ways, or to be succinct, "Sinning", unless we are give a structured tutorial on the very subject? Indeed, this is a head scratcher."

Foy pointed a finger toward the sky, displaying a very sarcastic Eureka moment. "Aha! Providence may have just provided the proper inspiration to achieve our goal, sir! We shall require a demonstration! Yes, a hands-on, participation required demonstration of several of the most decadent applications of our Seven Deadlies. How else will our Dear and Shiny Lord be able to forgive us, if we are bereft of incidents to forgive? Hmm?"

Naturally, upon actually entering the establishment, Foy saw several such opportunities for sinning in all of the usual ways. He listened intently as Jahosafat pointed out the dance floor, agreeing in totality with his sentiment. "Indubitably! I too feel the steadfast pull of the waxed, smooth wooden floor, prompting many a toe to be tapped. I simply must find out somehow if the house music or any live performers have a more or less civilized selection of music, naturally. Some good Core or Farradayan stock. Oh! A frontier line, perhaps? You know how I adore a good frontier line dance."

But in the meantime, I must see to tradition. Whisky, neat; as befits these surroundings. Come along, the first snort is on me, my finely suited compatriot, then I must find out if this place deals in less subtle, horizontal refreshments. To the barkeep!"

Jubilant but not stupid, Foy did not know the level of respectability of the establishment. He kept conscious of the weight of his valuables in the places he kept them, and bright, keen eyes scanned his surroundings (particularly the people in them), partially hidden by the brim of his very dapper bowler hat.

William Harper

Location: Newhope - Docks -> Lady Luck

Harper gave a polite nod as Daphne accepted his arm. He surprised himself with that level of contact, considering the mild paranoia that seemed to never quite go away. Maybe after a drink or two and some time to relax, the vast majority of the past three years would all be nothing more than an unpleasant memory. He had adopted a few different personas since breathing free air, this one was thankfully more like the person he was years ago. Still, he needed to assimilate into this new lifestyle. Leading a young lady to a social gathering was normal after all, wasn't it? Well, it was for them, so it would be for him.

He made himself remember what happened to the real Lieutenant Harper (that sadist), and it conjured the necessary warm smile that made him appear, for all intents and purposes, just a pilot looking forward to going out for a while with some company. "This way, ma'am," he said with plain optimism, leading Daphne down the dock and into the streets of Newhope, trailing others in the group who he really hoped knew the way to this nightspot. He made it a point to memorize his surroundings, just in case he had to beat a hasty retreat back to the ship.

As they neared the club, Harper removed his hard currency from his usual pocket, splitting it into separate amounts and changing their location on his person to deter pickpockets. Entering, he was momentarily set back to find that the best tables to preserve his anonymity with a quick shot to the outside were taken. It would be a wait for a table, if one opened at all. But there was a spot at the bar.

Harper wasn't an amazingly huge fan of the bar. Too exposed. But he was just one guy in a crowd, like everyone else. More colorful individuals would draw the attention, and subsequently, stick out in people's memory, making a couple of his new crewmates damn near ideal in this regard. So, with a shrug, he located an open couple of spaces and looked to Daphne. "Buy you a drink while we wait for a table?"

Mei Qiáo

Location: Newhope - The Docks -> The Town (Outside Lady Luck)

Mei was getting tired of walking, quite frankly. She was still nursing an injury. This had better be worth her time in the end. She had little else left to do. It was simple. She would get in, get her information, and get out. How she obtained that information would be left to chance.

She finally made her way into town and started toward the Lady Luck. It was the town's nightly hot spot, according to the people all going towards it. She had to imagine this town had little to offer in terms of entertainment, as far as she saw. Hopefully, all would go well and she would be out of this place soon.

Jacqueline Croix

Location: Newhope - Lady Luck

Jackie felt the hesitation in the boy as she dragged him along with her. She paid the thieves little mind. Their quarry was no hers. She made her way over to the seat. She pushed Fitz down on the stool next to her before she sat down herself. "Another drink please and one for my new friend here. Whatever he wants." Jackie smiled at the boy. Damn, he was kind of cute, in a "nerdy, goody, fuck-me-sideways" type of way.

"First thing you gotta know, don't open yourself up like that. You were easy pickings there. Hell, I thought about robbing ya, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. You just got that kind of face. You need to pay better attention to your surroundings. This town does not have the sparkliest of reputations. Like for example..." Jackie glanced around. A bunch of new people entered and she saw a few of them go to various places. "Ok so behind you, that woman that just walked up to the bar and looks like she is ready to blow a hole into the next person to talk to her...my guess is she's in charge. Not sure where or how, but she has that unmistakable air of having to ride people...and not in the fun way! And that other guy...with the funny mustache...he seems odd and eccentric, but I've a feeling you don't want to mess with him. He seems shady. And that's coming from me, hot cheeks."

Jackie looked back at Fitz, "So what brings you to this shit hole?"

Daphne Pender

Location: Docks

Daphne was still a little surprised that Harper offered to escort her into town. She had kind of snapped at him earlier, but it seemed that was forgotten, at least for now. Daphne could hear the others behind her as they left the docks. Following Harper's lead through town towards the Lady Luck, a place she hadn't really noticed when she was in town earlier.

The place was pretty crowded looking, she glanced around, seeing if there was any place to go. She caught a glimpse of Atticus, and was not very surprised that he had already found something to do. Daphne followed Harper over to the bar, since it looked like there was open space there. She still wasn't much of a drinker, but one drink wouldn't hurt. "Yes, thank you," she said in response.

Dorothy Pender

Location: Prometheus - Cargo Bay ---> Lady Luck's

Dorothy smiled a bit at Anisa's compliment, but her smile faded from Jahosafat's. It just confirmed her initial impression of him: that he was a spiritual twin to Foy. And while she had felt she misjudged Foy earlier, that didn't stop her from being irritated with the comments on her appearance. It was one thing to be complimented for looking nice - another to be told that her day-to-day attire should be substituted with a dress. "Yes, I am sure the blood stains from the latest series of bullet wounds would look positively dashin' with this dress," Dorothy quipped.

The entire way to Lady Luck's, Dorothy tried for a little bit to feign interest in Jahosafat's talk of color combinations but it grew old real quick. She felt a bit bad for Anisa, being escorted by the man. Dorothy was impressed, though, that Anisa hadn't smacked the man. She felt relieved when they finally arrived at the Lady Luck's, an emotion she never expected to associate with a den of gambling and alcoholism. She willingly let Anisa drag her over to the bar, glancing briefly at the labels they had on hand. A lot of them were staples that her father would always try to have stocked, but given how close they were to Boros, she supposed that made sense.

"I wouldn't blame you if you did," Dorothy commented. She paused for a moment, before ordering her drink. "I'll have a whiskey, neat. And then whatever my friend wants," Dorothy ordered, nodding towards Anisa.

Fitz Townsley

Location: Lady Luck's

Fitz opened his mouth, attempting to come up with something to order, but he ended up just closing his mouth once more. All his mind could think of was isopropyl alcohol at the moment. It didn't make any sense to him, but if he even tried to come up with another drink, water was the only other one that came to mind. And after that, it was industrial grade fuel. None of those seemed appropriate to order. He then resorted to simply looking at his new "friend" with a bit of nervousness. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a grown man with a waitress in his lap. All of the tables seemed to be filled, with only spots at the bar open.

Fitz opened his mouth again to protest, before he just nodded. He thought he had been well aware of all of his belongings, but clearly, that wasn't the case. Or was this some sort of double tactic on her part to get his things? But...she seemed so genuine and nice. He wanted to believe that she was a good person. He glanced at all of the people she pointed out and Fitz just nodded. He sort of guessed she was right about them all but...he wouldn't have been able to make that leap of deduction himself.

"T-t-t-trying to see the 'Verse," Fitz said. "S-s-sorry, can't help the st-st-stutter. I'm an engineer but...p-passenger maybe?"

Lady Luck

They hadn't been within the confines of the Lady Luck for 10 minutes and Atticus had already been drinking, gambled, and was currently getting drug up the stairs by a rather obvious lady of the night. As they reached one of the doors over looking the chaos below the woman opened it and stepped inside. Atticus glanced over his shoulder with a cheeky grin on his lips before her hands came out of the room and gabbed him by the lapels of his coat. "Hallelujah!" he exclaimed as he got pulled into the room and the door swung shut behind him.

Jahosafat pulled his hat from his brow and grinned ear to ear. "It does seem that our personal link to the almighty is setting a fine example indeed. We must make sure we have plenty to confess come the morrow. And we must do out finest to one up the starched collared man. We cannot let him be more sinful than we," Jahosafat laughed as he strolled over towards the bar, tucking his finery beneath his arm as he did. "Ladies," he added gallantly as he came up to Dorothy and Anisa. Giving a rather deep bow before placing his hat on the bartop and pulling out the chairs for the ladies. "Place theirs on my check good man," he said as he looked over to the bar tender.

"You don't have a tab here," the bartender pointed out but that didn't stop Jahosafat as he pushed the chair in while Anisa took her seat. Pulling out his wallet he leaned over the bar and had quick words with the man. "My mistake, of course." Pocketing whatever amount Jahosafat had just slipped him he got to work on fixing what the women ordered.

"Whiskey neat was it?" he ebony doctor asked and Anisa nodded slightly.

"Yeah, best you have," she said giving a slight smirk to Dorothy. Might as well get the best since the doctor was paying for it. Wasn't only that but Jackson had been known for collecting high quality spirits. Normally she would have rather paid herself but she figured with as much as this man went on and on and on, he owed them a drink.

"Of course, you heard the lovely lady. And for me, cognac. I do require my olfactory senses to be bombarded with the scent of utter civility," he said as he glanced over to his partner in finer crimes. "Oh to think of it, the gently wafting to my senses, warmed by my talented hands, the swirl of vapors filling me before that first splash tackles my pallet, washing over me. Oh yes, utter civility," he said as he reached over and picked up his sniffer as it was set before him. Picking it up, he rested the stem between his index and ring fingers, the base in his palm, swirling the contents as he lowered his head and rested his nose within the mouth. He breathed deeply and let out a moan that was probably best reserved for the boudoir. Lowering the glass he looked over to Dorothy and Anisa before turning towards Foy. "First a toast!" Holding up his glass to his brother from another mother. "To Mayhem, to folly, to brawls and bullets, to a night of debauchery along side the finest fellow born to the central planets or outer rim, besides myself of course. To lust, to sin, to all that comes tonight and with the hangover tomorrow. To us!" he bellowed before taking a sip of his cognac and letting out an ever satisfied breath as he swallowed.

Anisa picked up her whiskey and glanced out of the corner of her eye to Dorothy. "To whoever cuts out his tongue and gives me silence," she muttered under her breath. Taking a deep drink, she downed it all before motioning for a refill. Looking fully to Dorothy this time she had a solemn expression on her features. "There was so much I never told him... He was all that was left of my world and now that's gone." Looking down at her glass she ran her finger along the brim. "I loved you." she whispered quietly before stifling back a sniffle and a hard look drained the rest of the emotion that was threatening to bubble up. "To the toughest son of a bitch I never knew, my best mate. To Jackson," she added quickly before downing the shot like it was water.

Foy Coiffeur

Location: Newhope - Lady Luck

"Hmm..." mused Foy, his hum becoming the verbal equivalent of a child's squeal of glee at being released in a candy store. "Indeed, by fine sir. And despite these more pedestrian surroundings, I retain confidence that this is one such locale wherein Sin is commonly brokered commodity, ho ho!" His saunter up to the bar alongside his dearest friend turned into a polite step back as Jahosafat spoke in his usual grandiose manner to Anisa and Dorothy. Mostly Anisa. He took this opportunity to order. For him, it was a sharp rap upon the bar and the utterance of, "Three fingers of whiskey in a tumbler, my blue-collared fellow. Neat, and fast." Foy generally spoke less to persons who were paid to serve him.

It was not his manner to interrupt the initial conversational salvo, particularly when issued from a fellow Gentleman of Standing. Such an opener, when properly enunciated, set the tone for the remainder of the evening. While Jahosafat took care of this pre-debauch ritual, Foy made mental note of where everyone else in his group was located. Of course, the very notion of this being "his group" left him feeling momentarily woozy. Foy was officially a hired gun on a Dragonfly vessel captained by a Browncoat. Such odd times, indeed. But Foy mentally digressed; he was looking for the crew.

Atticus had very clearly been dragged into a quiet room by a prostitute with compelling upper body strength, apparently. The Captain and Dorothy were present and in front of him, as well as the enigmatic Dr. Moreau. Harper and Daphne seemed to be approaching the bar nearby from the side. Mostly, they were still clustered around one another. Whether it be happenstance, psychological need of the crew to stick together in unfamiliar surroundings, or the easier solution that these were the only spaces available, they were mostly all in a sort of staging area, hanging in formation until an appropriate target presented itself for individuals to attack. To this end, Atticus had gone rogue. Lucky bastard.

Then Jahosafat turned his attentions back to The Esteemed Mr. Coiffeur, offering up a toast in the manner that only a proper Farradayan could. With style, with vigor, and with a highly developed vocabulary. As he spoke, Foy's glass of neat whiskey arrived, as if on cue. One hand dropped a folded piece of scrip (intended to cover his whiskey and Jahosafat's cognac) and almost simultaneously snatched up the tumbler, just in time to take full part in Jahosafat's toast. "Indubitably and assured, my most dapper of compatriots! To us!" he took his own, drawing taste of whatever passed for whiskey in this place. He turned to one of the people tending bar, offering critique to the house's spirits. "I say, this tastes very much like what I used to provide my family's housemen on special occasions. Nostalgic, in a particularly mediocre capacity." He tapped his glass, signaled for another (though he had barely touched his first) and turned to the rest of the crew. "If you would be as kind as to excuse me, I must attend a matter of personal urgency."

Foy threw back the remainder of his first glass just as the second arrived. He tipped his cap to the crewmates assembled, swirled his glass, and began moving with the utmost of posture and propriety toward the card tables, or more appropriately, toward women of a certain type near them. Optimistically, he called back behind him, "To quote the immortal words of some general or another from antiquity; I Shall Return!"

William Harper

Location: Newhope - Lady Luck

The acceptance of Harper's offer to buy Daphne a drink was met by a small, polite smile. "Excellent," he vocalized in a low, melodic tone, and began ushering Daphne to the nearest open spots at the bar proper. As it turned out, they were very near to most of the rest of the crew. In a way, it was fortunate. Harper used to be a bar-hopping moderate drinker as the occasion called for it, but the events of recent years had brought marked changes in the man. Anymore, he wasn't a huge fan of being surrounded by people he didn't know, especially if they had varying levels of intoxication. Internally, it made him jumpy. His exterior remained as collected as ever, however; another feat mastered because of the events of the past few years.

The two of them reached the bar to be immediately set upon by the service staff. They seemed to be fully on top of things. Harper placed his order in the same calm but assertive manner. "Please make sure the young lady gets what she needs on me. I will have a Ginger beer and bitters, and a single whisky. Decent whiskey." As the drinks arrived, he looked to Daphne. "I don't mean to be rude, but I owe the Captain a quick "thank you". I'll just be a minute, but then I'd love to hear about your experience flying with these people."

Harper picked up his big mug of frothy, amber liquid and glass of whisky, temporarily relocating a meter or two down the bar. Foy had just left, and it created an area of open space that was much quieter for his absence. He stopped next to Anisa and set the glass down in front of her. "Ma'am?" he started, his voice showing a little of his cultured, Core World upbringing, "I appreciate you allowing me the first opportunity to pilot Prometheus. She's one hell of a boat, Ma'am." Absently, he pulled a bit of fluff from her hair and discarded it upon the floor. Raising his mug as to toast, Harper looked Anisa in the eye and gave a sincere, "Thank you, Captain."

Mei Qiáo

Location: Newhope - Lady Luck

Mei stopped outside. She needed a game plan. She couldn't just walk in and ask them for their ship info or any Alliance files they had. Plus, those that pursued her may be inside too. Surely they may start something. She couldn't turn back, but perhaps she could blend in. She shuffled her duster jacket a bit before she stepped inside.

It smelled of smoke, alcohol, and bad decisions. Normally, a place like this is a welcome sight for her. It was a good way to pick up business or let loose after a hard day. Even now, she could use a drink. But she couldn't right now. Instead, she did a quick scan. She didn't see anything out of the ordinary, but she noticed a few at the bar that got her attention. She moved her way over to the side to get as close to the bar as she could while still trying to remain inconspicuous.

Jacqueline Croix

Location: Newhope - Lady Luck

Normally, Jackie would have slapped this stuttering baby boy across the face to get him to shut up, but Jackie found herself kind of liking the boy. She had to admire the dream of seeing what the world had to offer. She was like that before. Still was, deep down. "Well fuck me sideways, that's adorable! Quite the dream you got there, cupcake. I have to admire that. If I had a ship in need of an engineer, I'd take you on in a minute, but sadly, I don't. Don't really have a ship to call my own anyway. I tend to...take my own rides off of planets."

Jackie's gaze was momentarily averted to the newcomers at the bar. The one that looked like she was about to gun someone down made a speech she only got the gist of, but they seemed to be cheersing for someone. She signaled the bartender "Hey, can you buy that dame a drink on me? She looks like she could use one." She signaled toward Anisa before she returned to Fitz, "Sorry 'bout that. Where were we? I'm bored, wanna do something fun?"

Dorothy Pender

Location: Lady Luck's

As Jahosafat came over to the bar and insisted on paying for their drinks, as well as going on and on in a toast, Dorothy turned her attention momentarily elsewhere. She spotted Atticus seemingly fall backwards with some questionable company and she rolled her eyes. This place was perfect for him - booze, sex, and gambling. Unconsciously frowning, Dorothy returned her attention to Anisa and Jahosafat. The moan elicited another eye roll from the former army doctor, and by the time Anisa muttered her near threat against Jahosafat, Dorothy was once again in complete agreement.

"To a good man, a great friend, and a kind soul," Dorothy said, before taking her own drink. It had been ages since she had had a proper drink - any drink, really. It felt like mild fire in her throat and she coughed, swallowing a few times to attempt to relieve the sensation. Had it been another occasion, perhaps she would have laughed at herself. But instead, she was focusing on Anisa. "He's still here with us," Dorothy said quietly, attempting to comfort Anisa. "It's the one thing religion got right - we don't go to nothingness when we die. Everything we are, it isn't destroyed. His matter, his energy - it's still here."

She was going to continue, to advise Anisa to say whatever she wanted to say to Jackson right now, only for Harper to come on over. She nursed her drink a little bit, knowing that Harper likely intended to have a chat with Anisa. She hoped that the man was trustworthy - especially if he was spending the evening with her little sister.

Fitz Townsley

Location: Lady Luck's

As for Fitz, he wasn't too certain what to think of this strange woman. He didn't even know her name and she seemed to be a little drunk - either that, or it was just her normal personality. Part of him wanted to run, but he doubted he'd be able to make it very far. There was a chaotic power to her - and he still wanted to believe the best of her. Gripping his pointer finger with his left hand, Fitz decided that he was going to stick this evening out and see what happened. At the very least, it'd be an adventure.

"U-uh...S-sure?" Fitz asked. "W-w-what do you have in mind?"

He really hoped that he hadn't agreed to anything he would end up regretting. While the drinking and the gambling in this place wasn't too bad, the after-school activities he saw some people heading off to were a bit too much for him. He wanted to venture outside of his bubble - not burst it with dynamite. "S-sorry, what's your name ag-again?" Fitz added. He really didn't want to keep thinking of her as the mystery woman.

Daphne Pender

Location: Lady Luck

Daphne followed Harper over to open spaces at the bar. Looking over, she saw her sister was seated with Anisa and Jahosafat, though she didn't really want to know why her sister was hanging around with the doctor. It was nice to know that most of the crew was in one spot in case something happened, though getting Atticus down here in the chance that something happened would probably be a problem since he clearly was preoccupied. Knowing their luck someone was going to start a brawl or something, that would definitely make the night interesting.

"I'll also have a whiskey," she said, as she watched Harper walk over to Anisa. Though his last words to her before walking away kind of made her think about how to respond. The most recent memories that came to mind were obviously the incident when they were on Whitefall. The incident with the Reavers that ended with their crews merging together also came to mind. She did wondered what Harper was saying thank you for that he hadn't already talked to Anisa about. She decided against eavesdropping on the conversation, though even if she did, she figured it would be pretty difficult to in the crowded room.

Lady Luck

Anisa nodded slightly towards Dorothy. "Well at least he ain't lost in the Black," she said as she sat there. She didn't know if there was anything beyond death but considering how things went she wouldn't be surprised if there was nothing. Then again, she did like the idea that he might still be around in some small part. Either way, as long as he was at peace now, that was the best she could ask for.

Because of the flamboyant ways of Foy and Jahosafat her attention was taken for a minute from her best friend. "Oh! Table! I shall go and lay claim to it for us, all those wishing to get waste deep into the folds and shuffles, do make your way over post haste," he exclaimed before excusing himself and rushing over and plopping himself down at the round table that had recently been cleared. He grinned like a cat that had just caught a mouse and waved joyously towards the rest of his comrades at the bar. Foy would return soon. It was too bad Atticus had already made his way upstairs but he doubted the man would be worried over missing a couple of hands of cards.

Anisa turned her attention back forward as the bar tender set a drink down in front of her. Her brow quirked a bit and he pointed at the lady down the bar. Anisa shrugged. In the mood she was in she wasn't about to turn down freeze booze. If she didn't get enough here she was determined to break into the stores of Jackson's good stuff when she got back to the ship and black out for the rest of the night. Picking up the glass she raised it towards the woman in thanks before downing it and setting the glass back down on the bar.

"Get her something weaker," she said to the bartender and motioned towards Dorothy with a chuckle. "Not expecting you to keep up," Anisa said with a smirk. She knew her friends revulsion to drinking and understood why. Granted that didn't stop her from insisting Dorothy tag along and drink with her. One, Jackson deserved a toast, especially by those who knew him best. Two, not drinking at all just because her father fucked up was not a good reason. It was about moderation. Complete abstinence tended to lead to just as many problems as over indulgence.

The Captain wasn't paying attention to what was going on around the Lady Luck and truly didn't even notice the other woman observing the group. She might have but as Harper came up her attention was diverted yet again. She felt a flicker of feeling on her scalp and her eyes darted over to see the man pulling some bit of something out of her hair. It hadn't registered to her what he had said at first and it took her a moment before it clicked. "Oh yeah, well might as well have been you," she said absently as the drink Harper had ordered for her was placed before her.

Picking it up she downed it without so much as a second glance, letting out a slight hiss. It wasn't bad but it wasn't as smooth as what she had been drinking. She was nearly half a dozen shots down already, three different types. If she didn't slow down she was going to end up on the floor before she even made it to her bed. Granted, it would take more than what she had had, a lot more, but at this rate anything was possible. Good thing she drank regularly with Atticus, and Jackson before he passed. So at least her tolerance was better than most on the ship.

Spinning around in her chair she leaned back against the bar and looked at Harper. "That she is, make sure no on fucks her up. Remember, I know where you live," she said giving him a bit of a jab with the tip of her nail against his chest as she slid out of her chair. Adjusting her skirt she looked over to Dorothy and motioned for the table. "Come on. If I have cards in my hands I drink slower," she said before walking off towards the table Jahosafat had claimed for the group and gave Harper a sideways glance as she brushed passed him. "And we might want to order something to eat," she added to Dorothy as she got to the table.

Jahosafat was already on his feet as the captain came over and smiled broadly to her. Pulling out the seat next to him and the next one down. "Ahh, ladies! If Luck is as wondrous as you two, it is sure to be my lucky night!"

Foy Coiffeur

Location: Newhope - Lady Luck

There come a time in every man's life (or a certain type of man), now and again, when the stresses of being in the Black for a time weigh upon him. Specifically, those weights tend to lean heavily upon the nethers of said men, and in such a way that it prompts them to remove those weights in the only way that is socially acceptable in a place that caters to the varies tastes of spacefaring individuals. Like many services that may require a specialized touch, it was always best to inquire of a professional.

While it was not certain what the charmingly dapper gentleman known as Foy Coiffeur said while addressing the young woman he had chosen for his intended professional activities (which he had to repeat twice, changing the wording each time to avoid confusion), the slap that resulted from it was visible from across the establishment. Foy looked confused for a second before laughing and pressing a single piece of scrip in the woman's hand under the pretense of taking her hand in a farewell gesture. The lady nodded, now also smiling, and pointed to another, more provocatively dressed lady. He tipped his hat and removed himself to start the initial conversation anew, this time with a slight change in cast.

Thankfully, this discussion went much smoother. Before you could say, "Sorry hon, that'll cost extra", Foy and this mystery woman were escorting one another toward the staircase leading up to the Rooms of Questionable Intent, her hanging off of Foy and genuinely appearing to be interested in his company with zeal that can only be sourced with capitalism. As they passed by near the table that Jahosafat reserved for the crew, one might hear him exclaim, "With certainty, my steampunk courtesan! You see, it is graced with its own moustache, of course. Ho ho... Indeed! A 'stache-ing we shall go!" Again thankfully, but this time for anyone else listening, the two of them ascended the stairs and were quickly out of earshot.

The Courtesan, as we will refer to her starting now, stopped by a door. She produced a key from somewhere inside of her corset and opened the door. Foy waited until she entered the room first, removed his hat and coat, and sauntered in with the certainty of a man who just paid for it. As the door swung closed, one could faintly hear the dapper gentleman's cry of "Indubitably!" before the lock clicked home.

William Harper

Location: Newhope - Lady Luck

Harper raised his glass to his lips as Anisa threw back her whiskey. Admittedly not much of a drinker and unwilling at that moment to take leave of his senses, Harper's beverage was something from the kiddie menu in comparison to hers. Still, the manner in which she handled her booze was impressive. Time would give the final tally on that one, however. He just wasn't comfortable enough to fully let loose.

The Captain seemed fairly dismissive of him at first, casually tossing a response at his small show of gratitude. It seemed to pass after he complimented the ship, he noted. Perhaps she wasn't the type who cared about manners and the like, or perhaps her priorities went to her ship first and herself second. So far as Harper could figure it could go either way with this lady. Though thinking about it, he didn't really have a baseline with which to measure her responses. If he was to pilot the Prometheus, he would need to be able to read his new Captain better; as much for his well-being as the ship's. When time permitted, he needed to observe the woman.

As she jabbed a finger into his chest and slid from her seat at the bar, Harper retreated a half step to allow her room to egress. It was the polite thing to do. Responding to her comment just prior, he confidently beamed, "Not to worry, Ma'am. Your ship is in excellent hands." then met her glance as she brushed past him, offering a wry smile in return. Addressing both Anisa and Dorothy as they stepped away, Harper intoned, "Ma'am, ma'am... do have a good time." and returned to his place at the bar next to Daphne.

He took a mental note of where the bartender had pointed earlier. Someone from outside of the crew had purchased a drink for Anisa. Had it delivered. It was a little unusual, granted, but as far as he knew it happened to the Captain all the time, which may account for the nonchalant way with which she knocked it back. But, Harper made the mental note anyway. Filing that particular piece of information away for another time, he leaned against the bar and took a sip from his big glass mug. "Sorry about that, Daphne. Dr. Moreau found us a table, but if you could indulge me, I would love to hear at least one story about piloting for these people before we join them." He raised his glass just short of obscuring his eyes and gave her a quick, "Cheers, Miss."
