@Flamelord@Tyki
To interject:

Tyki's standard troops possess the ability to absorb a small amount of energy, but at nowhere near the rate of Xel'Rath. Therefore, a sufficiently powerful energy weapon will still wipe out his troops. And a weapon of sufficient power (re: death star, nuke to the face, etc.) can still overwhelm Xel'Rath's energy absorption and kill him/it.

Certain elite troops, such as Nim, carry a nigh-indestructible forcefield that can protect them from all but the most potent of weapons, but can only be maintained for 10 seconds. It'll make pretty much anything below Nuke level pointless, but it has a stunningly limited duration. A version with a 10-minute duration and an even higher damage cap can be found on his main fortress, allowing it to tank massive amounts of enemy fire for the duration.

However, despite the fact that you CAN kill Tyki's characters with energy weapons, they are still highly resistant to them. And their nature is very different from that of the Ascended beings in the Stargate universe. They are material beings who possess limited control over energy/matter, instead of relying on the more ki-esque powers of the Ascended, who are also nonphysical entities. As such I doubt a weapon designed to fight Ascended beings would function against Xel'Rath and his ilk.

Lastly, no dickmeasuring. Tyki's faction is momentarily weaker than most pre-existing factions due to being newly formed, but will be allowed to consolidate it's position in Hawaii, and gain greater power swiftly.

I didn't actually think the Sangraal would work, but the bluff is half the fun. I just wanted to imagine that for once I was being faced with a problem in this RP where the only solution wasn't a variant of 'throw bodies at the problem' or 'apply nuke directly to forehead, repeat step 1.'

Within the Stargate universe, the Goa'Uld solve many problems through extensive research. Discovering new tech, or nicking someone else's tech, is a great way to develop countermeasures to a particular foe or strategy. Knowing your enemy can make the scientific difference between complete victory and utter defeat, regardless of numbers.

If you want a more creative solution, then study your enemies, and attempt to discover a scientific counter. Regardless of what form the Tyranid may take there is always at least one weakness to their current state, which can be exploited. And when facing an opponent like Tyki, knowing how their assimilation works might assist you in developing a countermeasure. Perhaps a defensive field that hinders this process somehow, better protecting your troops/vehicles.

I encourage any and all factions to attempt to 'advance' in terms of technology, and to develop counters to your opponent. Military science is often as a game of chess, but with many more players.

To add to matt's point, study of the Acianry (xel'rath's faction) is actually surprisingly difficult due to their physical structre causing mild disintegration upon contact with matter as well as most of them being able to eat most forms of communication (radio wave emissions, deep space hailing, etc.) so scanning is pointless...

@thewizardguy

First off, the avianry actually have a greater rate of disintegration than xel'rath, as a base they're an improvement of xel'rath in most fields with the distinct difference being that they have far lesser control over energy without tools (hence why they actually need 'guns' to fire pewpew beams of doom rather than just spewing them out like xel'rath) however, their main weakness currently is that every single Avianry has a 'cap' on how much energy they can store within them at one time, making it actually viable to simply overload them.

Secondly, before you bitch at the fortress not giving a fuck about your storms and monsters, keep in mind that every brick of said fortress has similar qualities as the avianry themselves however are vastly decreased for the most part in terms of individual use, however, there's ALOT of bricks there and a storm isn't even going to put the energy core over a 1% charge increase. This thing is built to tank sustained fire from WMD's HENCE WHY I'M NOT MAKING ANOTHER ONE.

Part of the reason i gave xel'rath an adversion to expanding was to, frankly, balance him because he can get blantantly overpowered if he was smart and just kind of rolled over the planet the right way.

EDIT: there's also an issue that if i didn't make his faction this potent from the get-go i was worried someone would just nuke it to death. I still don't trust people to not meta game after all the times I've tried doing something sneaky that no one should know about, and then they learn about it ooc, and their characters come to cluster fuck it to death (matt might know what I'm talking about from our experience in other rps)

Well, I will do science if/when I can. As was just explained it's a bit hard against the Aviary, and there aren't really Tyranid available to experiment on at the moment (since the ones from the previous battle received several doses of nuclear weapons) That sort of thing tends to skew your test results a bit.

I forget if i said it or not, but there are actually remnants of half-completed avianry buildings left in japan that kinda formed together and burrowed underground, and tyranid study is actually as simple as fishing... literally... just sit out on a dock over the atlantic with big enough bait and you'll probably catch a ripper or something.

You did, though from indication the remnants aren't easy to reach at the moment. And I wasn't aware that the Tyranid infestation of the Atlantic was so wide spread as to basically be able to ravage every coastline at the moment. Besides, it did say in the Day 1 update that provoking the Tyranids was a Bad Idea. Leaving aside however much research can get done in a week and produce something viable.

I was told they'd infested the atlantic so i figured it was the entire atlantic. Also, if it's a ripper that far out they're most likely feral and not amongst the swarm so they honetly wouldn't know. there's also the issue of genestealers but that's a whole nother can of 'nids

Thanks. Unfortunately Goa'uld airspace is in South America, since they don't really have an established presence in Asia yet. They only got permission to settle there yesterday after all, so there isn't large scale habitation yet.

Ozo? Figurtively, he could eventually eat the entire planet, if given enough time, and a motive. Although, that'd involve moving everyone off the planet who was good, or able to be redeemed in terms of being able to be good...He is a hero after all.

I apologise profusely for my truly abysmal posting rate, school and other real-life forces have conspired to devour a significant chunk of my free time. I will start off Day 2 as soon as the current interactions are at an end, in a couple of posts. I will also be able to post more rapidly over the weekend, and hopefully also thereafter.

i don't really feel like i can do anything aside from cut off alucard's arm to keep it from devouring him due to the blatant flaws it would have without the supporting systems xel'rath and the Avianry construct to keep their shit from killing them.

After a talk with matt, it has become apparent that I don't really care to keep playing xel'rath due to a mix of the sheer egotisticaly masterbatory nature of the high end of the power spectrum of the rp (looking at flamelord with that one for the most part. Seriously dude, if you want your dick sucked go get a hooker, don't come here) and have thus decided that i will no longer be playing him, and unless matt wishes to take the race over, he's going to be assuming his new life as the Emperor's tactical warp sponge shortly. My next post will be the new character i'll be playing which has already been oked by matt but i'll still post it here in case you wanna have a gander before she goes in the characters tab.

Name: Kyoko Tanno
Appearance:

Personality: Soft spoken, somewhat shy, tries to be polite when she can though this can sometimes backfire. Think every anime girl with glasses from every anime ever.
Abilities:
Bio-matter Assimilation: She can 'eat' biomatter via various process, normally preferring to do so with dead biomatter though if it's small enough she can do so while it's alive though this does normally require it to be incapacitated or surprised in some way (by small enough, i mean human sized so something like a person or a tyranid hormogaunt.) and then digest it with the time depending on how big the creature was, allowing her to use it's biomass for her other abilities.

Biological Adjustment: Normally manifesting in arm blades or other form of weaponry, she can also use this ability to make herself stronger, more durable, faster, etc. though she can also use it to heal someone else if she knows what their issue is, including turning back aging.

Immense regeneration: does what it says on the tin, while capable of regenerating instantly from small (even if they are deep) wounds, regenerating a limb can take a few days, and if she's reduced to little more than a blood splat or 'meat football' as has been done to other characters, it can take to if not more than a month. It should be noted, however, that she can still FEEL wounds, so getting shot still hurts like a massive bitch even if it's not a very serious wound. It should be noted, however, that fire can drastically slow down her regeneration process, and while it doesn't kill her, being frozen solid does cause her to become comatose until thawed, also poisons can keep her from using her other abilities until they pass through her system though she can't be killed by them.

Equipment: Clothes, shoes, glasses, cellphone (most likely inoperable), and a laptop
Origin: Was just a normal girl up until about a week ago when she was slapped both with her new powers and into arcadia. She's since gotten used to them for the most part, though she still thinks of them as unsightly.
Theme Song: DO NOTE, THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE
