Hi all! So I've finally gotten around to making the new thread, and it's, well, a work in progress!
In the next few days, I'll be working on finalizing all information and editing the post layouts provided by Balthazar, and many of those posts will contain tags to all of you (but I'll keep them out of your notifications with the edit system ;) ), but here's the link to the thread anyway:
The thread, however, is not complete yet, and I'm working on figuring out the final layout of the site, so please don't post anything yet! When the time comes, I'll be making another tag announcement like this and providing instructions as to how everyone can move their posts over (location + character), but not yet!
Hope this is as exciting for you as it is for me, and fingers crossed in hopes that the "closed" marker on the thread is enough to ward off posters xD
Sorry I've been out for a while; I was hit with a pretty heavy loss a couple weeks ago and everything went out of whack for me... there's a few essays I still need to finish up but I'll try to get back into the swing of things this week.

No worries, i've been out of it too. Just been in that state of bleh and everyone around me keeps getting sick. UGgggggh
@ToadRopes Hope you're feeling better! I know how hard it is trying to get back into the loop :/ Hope it's going well for you!
@Silver Fox Hope you find your motivation/inspiration soon! And don't worry, I haven't been sick, and this RP is still going xD (jk I hope everyone around you feels better soon)
Well, glad you're both back in time for the sunset post (one of the two uniting times in this rp, the other being the sunrise post...)
@ToadRopes Yeesh, sorry to hear that. Take your time.
@Dusksong So, seeing as Pokemon evolve like they do in the games, are evo stones and other evolution inducing items now necessary (once the Pokemon's at the appropriate level, of course)? I was thinking of replacing the evolution shard in Feyhollow mart with a Moon Stone.
@LuckyBlackCat Ah, I don't think evolution stones will be necessary since Pokemon that don't have a specified evo level are all down to evolve at lvl 30. Stones and other means of evolution by item will probably just be an "optional" part of the process, although preferred since such be more "realistic."
So, I'd like to leave stones out of the RP for now. Maybe sell an item that helps with combat/level earning or such? One can never have too many items, and there's a wide array of them in the games :)
@Dusksong Ok. I'll have my characters just find the evo stones they need, then, to keep things closer to canon. The replacement item in the mart could be Rose Incense or something like that.
Edit: For some reason I forgot there wasn't even an evolution shard in the mart to begin with! I must have gotten it confused with other marts.
@Darkmoon Angel The general on them is just what types are found there and the current weather (negligible, but a nice detail). Here's an offsite doc that links to all the location posts:
Any additional information can be found by opening the link and reading the information written on that location (fleshed out by the users who made them). You can choose any city for your character to start at, be it growing up there or just flying/stopping in by plane or train.
Name: Luna D. Dharc Age: 15 Gender: Female Starting Location: Tefan Village Rank: Beginner Organization: TBD Occupation: Breeder
Appearance: Luna is a little on the short and small side, standing at about 4'5" and weighing about 89 lbs. She usually wears dark colored sleeveless dresses (mostly either black, blue, or purple) and black skirts that go down to about, or over, her knees. She has short, wavy hair that has a lavender sheen to it and her eyes, which don't match her color scheme, are a light shade of brown. Her running shoes are purple with black highlights and she also has a little hairpin with a yellow crescent moon on it.
Biography: Luna was born as a member of the family that runs the daycare in the Unova region. It didn't come as a surprise that she inherited her family's love for pokemon and their desire to care and raise them. However, unlike most of her family, Luna developed a love for battling alongside her love for pokemon and would always have a quick battle with a few of the breeders who were around the daycare. It is from these experiences that Luna discovered her love of the infamous dragon and fairy types, of which dragon was her favorite of the two.
Upon receiving an egg for her fifteenth birthday, Luna knew that the time was right to start a journey of her own. After saying goodbye and receiving best wishes from her family, Luna set out to become a strong trainer and a great breeder. On her journey, the egg she received would hatch into an adorable Deino, of which Luna formed a strong bond with. At first it was hard to raise the fuzzy, dark dragon but Luna soon had Deino's care on point, a good first step on becoming a breeder. Luna will then board a train that was bound to Tefan Village, at that point her journey will continue on from there.
Personality: Luna is a hard worker when it comes to helping other people and pokemon. She usually has a bright smile on her face and always has a cheerful attitude. Although, despite her outgoing personality, Luna is a girl of a few words, making it hard to keep up a conversation with others for too long.
@Darkmoon Angel She looks good! Just one thing: your first trainer doesn't currently have any official Pokemon, but she can catch one asap IC. Just keep in mind that your character has just gotten her Pokeball prior to your first IC post, and you're good to go! Go ahead and post her in the CS section :)
Also, don't forget to use something like this to keep track of your stats for your first post:
@Dusksong Sweet, I can't wait to start Luna's journey in this rp. Just a few minor questions: I get TP and CP everytime I catch a pokemon and win a battle? How do battles play out? And am I allowed to catch any pokemon of the types in the village (minus any really tough pokemon)?
@Darkmoon Angel The region doesn't have a name. Your trainer gets TP with every post, and your Pokemon gets a single level for a battle with wild Pokemon every fifteen days. CP is counted by every post as well, but applies to you rather than to your trainer. And yes, you're allowed to catch any type of pokemon in the village, as long as it fits with your rank/device (Pokeballs can only catch basic Pokemon).
Battles, especially informal ones, currently play out with a lot of freedom.
How to Battle:
Battling is a long time tradition in the Pokemon world, but to make it work in this play-by-post setting, some changes had to be made. Moves should be moves that the Pokemon are actually capable of carrying out, most likely pulled from their moveset (reference Bulbapedia for movesets, if needed), as TMs have not yet been incorporated. There are two different options for battling:
Battles: Friendly VS. Competitive VS. League: Friendly battles are done just for fun; there is nothing to lose, and you can even opt out of using Pokemon Showdown. Competitive battles happen when two trainers want to put their own trainer points and/or items on the line if they lose, and these must be done with Pokemon Showdown. League battles are sponsored by a certain type of Functional Organization called a Battle League; the leagues themselves determine what sort of prizes will be handed out, and you must also use Pokemon Showdown.
Friendly Battles: The outcomes of friendly battles are generally discussed privately and concluded prior to the end of the battle, saving both parties involved the hassle of using Showdown. Theses are the only battles in which the usage of Showdown is not required. Of course, Showdown is an option, but should anyone wish to avoid the Showdown system altogether, you are welcome to just participating in a battle. The process of hosting a friendly, non-Showdown battle goes as follows:
The OOC Post: Each trainer will make an OOC post that includes participants (character and user), terms, and agreed-upon rewards of the battle. The terms include anything the participants agreed upon, including the number of Pokemon eligible for use from both sides and the posting speed you wish to set, if needed. Here is an example of an opening post:
John Doe v.s. Jane Doe
Users: [@nobody01] & [@nobody02] Terms: Three Pokemon from either trainer, no items Prize: 4 Pokeballs to the winner, prepaid by both trainers (2 Pokeballs each, 10CP per trainer)
The Battle Itself: The battle itself, because it is an informal battle, should be planned or discussed in OOC or over PM. The winner will depend on what either trainer wants, and if there is no agreement, Showdown is there as an option to resolve disagreements.
Battle posts usually have two parts: the Reaction and Action phases. During the Reaction phase, trainers and their Pokemon “react” to what happened in the last post, dodging attacks or tanking them. In the Action phase, trainers and their Pokemon carry out an action — usually an attack— so that the other user can respond. Basically, battle posts are just normal IC posts. Use common sense and whatnot, and we’ll be fine.
Ending a Friendly Battle: A friendly battle is over when the trainers decide it to be, most likely in some prior PM discussion. After the battle has concluded, one or both users should tag me @Dusksong in a post so I can oversee the friendly transfer or rewards as well as check if rules have been followed. Whether the users want the battle to tie or be a KO to one trainer, that’s all fine. Should one of the participants of the battle mysteriously vanish, the other participant may inform me OOC or over PM, and we will discuss how to remedy this situation — most likely ending with the battle going to the user still active.
Showdown Battles:
Pokemon Showdown: If you have never used Pokemon Showdown, be sure to familiarize yourself with the site before using it for this RP. For all Showdown battles, we will be using the "Anything Goes" format. When building your Pokemon, be sure to use the following guidelines:
One, use the same level, gender, and shiny status as listed here in this RP.
Two, refer to bulbapedia when choosing your move sets; only use moves that the Pokemon can learn through levelling up (unless you have bought and used a TM within this RP).
Three, only use hold items that you have purchased within this RP.
Four, there are no restrictions on setting a Pokemon's happiness levels, ability, or stats spread.
Once you have recreated your team on Showdown, simply click find a user and search for your opponent (let your opponent know if your Showdown name differs from your user name on this RP). From there, everything works just like the handheld games; battle back and forth until you have a winner.
Dramatizing Battles:
After your battle concludes and all awards are dealt out accordingly, you are encouraged to reenact your battle. This serves three purposes. One, it makes things more interesting for readers that haven't seen the outcome yet. Two, you still rack up one CP per post you spend reenacting the battle. Three, all Pokemon that participated in the Showdown battle and reenactment battle will earn two extra bonus levels. Finally, when the reenactment is over, provide a link so that people can re-watch the showdown battle if they would like. As we said before, you may skip using Showdown all together and only use post-by-post battling to Dramatize the battle, IF your battle is only a "friendly". If you choose to not use Pokemon Showdown, we encourage the participants to kindly talk through the outcome of their battle via PMs (this way the illusion isn't ruined for observers).
League Battles:
League Battles can vary from League to League. They can use different formats on Showdown besides the "Anything Goes" format. They can have further limitations such as typing, tier, or level restrictions. Be sure to read the Battle League section of the "Create an Organization" thread. League battles will require the usage of Showdown, though, so it may be wise to familiarize yourself with the system before entering. Or not.
@Darkmoon Angel Luna can still have the Deino as her unofficial Pokemon before catching him though, my character Florence had a Chikorita following her around for years.
@Darkmoon Angel Okay, so reading your first post, it seems like your trainer now has two Pokemon? This shouldn't be possible since, again, your trainer doesn't start off with a Pokemon to her name. She has one Pokeball total, and it's empty at the start of the RP. She can catch whatever Pokemon she wants with that Pokeball, and that Pokemon, as Cat said in her earlier tag, could have followed your trainer around for years prior to your post, but there is only one Pokeball. So, unless your trainer saves up 5TP and purchases a second pokeball, catching the fairy-type shouldn't have been possible.
Of course, you could say that the Deino is just following your character around and isn't technically owned by her. This would probably be the easiest way to spin things so you don't have to rewrite/edit :)
Also, don't forget to add the aforementioned status box to the end of your post! Just copy-paste it over and fill it out — keep track of your trainer's Pokemon, their TP total, and your CP total!
