Personality: Gale is kind of a chill guy, in the sense that he doesn’t really care about a lot of things. He’s often seen as an optimistic idiot, he can weather just about any kind of hardship so long as he has food to eat and somewhere to sleep. He’s bad at reading the mood and often talks without reserve but usually isn’t particularly serious about what he says. While he looks careless, Gale actually takes into account the risks to what he can spend, even if he’s overly optimistic about the results. He’s not above giving up if he’ll definitely lose, but if he has a reason to get up then he’ll keep coming no matter what. He likes animals but they don’t like him very much.
He lived with his dad. Poor but happy life. Dad died. Foster parents were kind of shit. Got a friend and became the dynamic duo, lost a friend and became the dynamic one dude. Got the letter, took a year to get there. Read the rest for details.
Gale was raised by a single father, a hardworking man and kind man who worked as a builder. They lived in a small, dirty apartment on the outskirts of New York where a small company like the one Gale’s father worked at could at least hope to find some business. His father injected the meagre amount of money they had into Gale’s life and made sure that he always spent time with Option A. Their life was simple; Gale attended school and his father went to work. When they came back, they ate dinner. On special occasions or when they had the money to spare, they bought cheap pizza. Life was simple for Gale and he was happy to live with his father, but there was only so much one man could do.
Gale was always kind of a weird kid, he never really fit in. He was always sort of odd, he mostly kept to himself and was rather quiet, and there was this strange aura around him that would unconsciously keep people on edge. Animals would avoid him and technology didn’t do well around him. Adding to that, he was sorely lacking in social skills and his circumstances made him a frequent target of bullying. But his dad told him not to fight without a good reason, and Gale respected his father above all else.
When Gale turned 13, his father was hospitalised due to injuries. At the hospital, it was discovered that he also had a disease. Long story short, Gale’s dad eventually died and Gale was sent to his closest family of whom he knew nothing about. He attended a school where no one knew him and he knew no one. His life was turned upside down very quickly.
His new life was still fairly similar to his old life, he shrugged off insults and harassment since it wasn’t a big deal. It was harsh but his father wouldn’t want him to retaliate for no reason. But he could only take so much. His first fight in his new environment was with his own cousin who insulted his dad. This brought a swift retribution from his foster parents as well as incurring the wrath of that same cousin who commanded a group of lackeys to attack him. Despite Gale’s strength, he couldn’t deal well with numbers and would’ve lost if not for the timely intervention of a guy who became Gale’s only friend. The guy taught Gale to fight with his speed as well as his strength and generally refined his fighting style. They got into fights together often and gained a reputation before Gale’s friend had to move away. But by that point, Gale could make do on his own.
Gale got a fearsome reputation for fighting, though he hardly started any fights. People attracted to the reputation of the dynamic duo challenged him to duels which he accepted on occasion. In these fights, he was almost untouchable. Those who fought him became paralysed before they could touch him and no one knew the reason. It was around the age of 16 when Gale figured out what it was. When he looked in the mirror at his back one day, he noticed that his birthmark was glowing faintly. Then he got the letter in the mail, an invitation to a mysterious school. He was all too happy to take the opportunity and, funnily enough, so was his foster family, who were well past the point of hating the teen. They let him go but didn’t give him a plane ticket to Japan, stating that he’d have to figure out some way to get there himself. It took him quite some time, half a year, to work and save money for the plane ticket, before he realised that he was in the wrong place. A series of events allowed him to finally arrive at Mt Fuji on his 17th birthday, but that’s a story for another time.
Skills: Gale has good reflexes and instincts, and is fairly tenacious. Slightly above average strength and speed but nothing superhuman. His fighting style is choppy but it gets the job done, and it’s been practised over a long time.
[Name: Thunder Howling Type: Liberation Description: Gale has the ability to emit his magic in a small area around him in the form of electricity which surrounds his body. The range of Thunder howling is quite limited as he doesn’t know how to create ranged attacks yet, save for his special move which threads magic into his voice which he can then turn into an electric pulse. Generally speaking, his power output gets weaker the father out it goes. Gale’s sigil resembles a stylised beast made of thunder in a circle on his back, above his heart.
Inventory: The clothes on his back, sleeping bag, a change of clothes.
Man, that took longer than anticipated. RIP my other idea, you will be missed. Maybe I'll go study now.
@Lord of Evil Gale's good to go. You can post in the character tab and the IC thread. Feel free to join Rhian, Rey, and Rose. They're currently being harrassed by owls.
Sorry, guys. Update might take longer than I thought. I get access to the net, but I don't really have the time to finish it. I'll post as soon as I can.
@January@GreenGoat@Riffus Maximus@RoflsMazoy@Mercurial@Masaki Haruna@KOgaming@banjoanjo@Nanashi Ninanai@hagroden@hagroden@Letter Bee@BassDropp Update is up, but I'm not proud of it, I just felt that I owed you guys something given the amount of time we've been a bit quiet. This is simply one part of the update; I'll definitely follow this up soon with another one. I'm aware that the mistake I did here was pitting everyone against a single NPC, which actually limited how the scenario could have been played out. So some characters didn't really have that much time to shine and were somewhat turning into supporting characters. Won't happen again. Sorry guys. If anything is unclear with the update, feel free to ask me.
Anyway, @Lord of Evil@Baklava, I'll try typing up an update for you guys too. The initial plan was to update the forest group multiple times before I could update the larger group so that you guys could catch up, but I didn't factor in the sudden inactivity and inability to post from others. My bad.
Rip Junko, always forgotten, but remains still in my heart. ;w;
Its ok if Varus mist seeing Junko though. I, myself, in that situation wouldn't have the foggiest idea of whats happening. Even if I don't have my head up in the cloud most of the time. Water precipitation.
