"If Neko doesn't figure out a way around that Bind, he'll be defeated," stated Shiranui.

[NekoMizu]

The bind was released and Rattata fainted. Neko took Rattata back and sent Caterpie out.
"String shot!" Caterpie sprayed a ton of string at Onix. Onix's speed was reduced.
"Tackle" Onix slammed into Caterpie and the bug pokemon fainted.
Neko was down to only Bulbasaur left, who had only half of its hp left.
"Bulbasaur!" He called out, throwing his pokeball, sending his Pokemon out.
"Vine whip once more!"
"Bide!"
Onix quickly charged up a bide before being whipped.
"Vine Whip!"
Onix was almost fainted. "We can do this, just one more attack and he's done. Vine Whip for a final time!"
"All right now attack"

"If Bide is released after taking all that damage, there's no chance Bulbasaur would survive," stated Shiranui.

[NekoMizu]

The whips from Bulbasaur's bulb hit Onix swiftly, though at the same time, Onix hit Bulbasaur. They had both fainted at the same time. It was a draw. "So then... Who won?"

Shiranui knew what happened in the event of a gym battle ending in a draw—if the gym leader thought the challenger battled well enough, the victory would go to the challenger.

[NekoMizu]

With a sigh "You did all right" Flint handed Neko the badge to the gym. "Though you lacked a solid strategy. Train your other Pokemon and don't think you'll win all the time, either."

He had gotten his first badge, he was cheering, very happy, suddenly Neko whited out.

Shiranui snapped into action and ran over to the challenger's side of the battlefield. "Titania, keep a watch on him and use Heal Pulse if necessary!" He let his Gardevoir out and the psychic fairy was scanning Neko's physical and mental vitals.
"Master, I know you're having a feeling of déjà vu," Titania commented.

[NekoMizu]

"What's happened to him?" Koneko asked "He just fainted out of nowhere."

[James Davy]

"Shock and a lot of dopamine in his brain," Titania evaluated, "In other words he felt so much surprise and joy from winning his first gym badge that he fainted. He should come to any time now." Shiranui realised that Koneko may not have heard a psychic Pokémon's telepathic voice before.

[NekoMizu]

Neko wakes up. "What's going on?" Remembering that he needs to heal his Pokemon he jumps back up. "I gotta go to the pokemon centre." He dashes off once more, Koneko following behind him.

"He seemed a tad too sprightly for someone who just regained consciousness," Titania commented feeling perplexed.
"I'm just as surprised as you are, Titania," replied Shiranui.

[NekoMizu]

"So what am I doing here exactly?" Inuzu demanded, now completely signed up for team rocket. They made him dye and cut his hair, since red long hair made him stand out. Though, the outfit isn't exactly what normal trainers wear.

"Just go about everything as you did with the forest. Destruction is key." The grunt told him. "Also before you do anything you must train. Giovanni actually wants to train you personally."

"Who's this Giovanni guy?"

"Oh you'll see."

"Shouldn't you get a badge?" Neko asked his sister who had followed along.
"Yeah, but I'd rather train quite a bit first. I don't wanna rush it after I saw that battle." She answered smiling.
"You think we should go back into route 2 for a while?"
Koneko nodded and the two went into route 2 to train.

"Well, me an Shiranui will be doing the contest in the mean time." Liam said.

[NekoMizu]

"Bubble!" Koneko demanded as her Squirtle had obeyed. She threw a Pokeball and snatch. She caught a Pidgey.
The twins trained in route 2 for a while.
"Koneko... What's going on with my caterpie?" The caterpie shined and changed shape into a Metapod. "It evolved?"

Liam went to the contest hall and got completely ready to go. He was sitting in the green room.

Shiranui got ready for the contest as well. He donned his ninja outfit and was busy preparing his Ball Capsule.

Liam had his first ball capsule ready and was working on the other.

Shiranui settled on a simple design and slotted a Great Ball into the capsule. He was now ready for the contest. He wondered if the rules would be any different since they were competing in a different region.

"Hello! And welcome to the Pewter City Contest! I'm your host, Lillian Meridian! Today, these lovely contestant will battle it out for the Pewter Ribbon! In case we have any new comers, here in Kanto coordinators will use one Pokémon in the appeals round, and may if they so wish, use a different one in the second round. But for now, allow me to introduce our panel of judges! The Head of the Pokémon Contest Committee,Mr. Raoul Contesta!"
"It's great to be here today! I look forward to seeing everyone do their best." Contesta said into the mike. His comment was followed up by applause. Then, Lillian continued.
"The Head if the Pokémon Fan Club,Mr. Sukizo!"
"Pewter City is remarkable!" Sukizo said, ending with his catchphrase. After the applause, Lillian moved on.
"And last, but not least; Pewter City's very own,Nurse Joy!"
"I'm happy to be here today. Let's all have some fun." Joy said with a smile. The crowd cheered once more.
"Without further ado, let's begin with contestant #1, from Blackthorn City, Johto and the newly crowned Hoenn Champion, 'Dragon Master' Liam Coleman!"
Liam came out onto the stage. He had a Luxury Ball in a capsule in hand.
"Jiriya! Time to shine! Use Double Team!" The ball was tossed out. Smoke poured out from the ball and took the form of the Greninja.
"Double team!" Jiriya made a single copy of himself. "One of you use Cut, the other Night Slash!" The two began to spar with one another, zipping all over the stage at high speeds. "Now, Water Shuriken!" Both copies began to throw the shurikens up into the air. They than tossed their conjured blades upward, slicing the shurikens into a rain. Liam and the two Greninjas took a bow.

"A great performance! But, what do our judge think?"
"Mr. Coleman, you never fail to impress."
"Water Shurikien is remarkable!"
"I can see that you have put a lot of effort and care into raising your Greninja."

Lillian than asked to see the scores.

After several coordinators made their appeals, it was now time for Shiranui to make his appeal. "Next up is contestant #8, from Ecruteak City, Johto and Hoenn's Top Coordinator, Champion Shiranui Tsukiko!" Shiranui made a ninja-style entrance and produced a Great Ball that was encased in a capsule.
"It's time to show you one of Hoenn's favourites! Zoro, do your thing!" Shiranui tossed the ball out and it opened. Dark shuriken-like stars, lots of shadowy Unown-Z and black smoke came out. The smoke formed a Ninetales that soon ran a lap around the stage before forming a "real" Ninetales. Zoro used Sunny Day to simulate the Drought ability. "Start with a Solar Ring!" The disguised Zoroark conjured a Solar Beam illusion and manipulated it into a ring of sunlight. "Follow it up with Will-O-Wisp!" Zoro's "tails" lit up with spooky bluish-white flames that were soon launched up into the air and formed inside the ring. "Dark Pulse!" Using a real Dark Pulse, Zoro fired it into the air and the attacks formed a bullseye. "Finish it with Incinerate!" Zoro unleashed a searing flame at the Dark Pulse in the centre and the bullseye exploded. The "Ninetales" jumped into the explosion and amidst a shower of dark and illusory sparkles, Zoro was seen in his true form somersaulting down onto the stage. The audience erupted into a deafening applause.

"Time to find out what our judges think of that marvellous performance!" announced Lillian.
"There's no doubt in my mind you'll go far here in Kanto."
"Zoroark are remarkable!"
"I see from the shine in your Zoroark's coat that you raise it very well."

"How do you rate this performance?" Lillian asked. The scores lit up on the judges' screens.
