║ Appearance ║Jocelyn is a curvaceous, young black woman, standing at five feet six inches tall and weighing in at a little over one-hundred forty pounds. Her skin is beautifully brown. Her soft-curled, shoulder length hair is dense but yielding, and thick enough to lose your fingers in. Although having a head full of gorgeous hair, Jocelyn prefers to wear her hair in protective styles (braids, weaves, wigs), which allow her hair to grow quicker and healthier. There's a certain elegance in the way that Jocelyn holds herself: good posture, long confident strides and head held high. She often looks taller than her height of 5'6, especially since she's always wearing heels whenever she has the chance.
Her eyes are large and almond shaped, the brown of the irises so dark that they almost appear to be black. Her eyes are fringed with long, thick lashes. She has a short, delicate nose and perfectly arched, dark eyebrows. Her face is heart-shaped; she has high cheekbones and a pointed chin. Her lips are full and always covered with a clear lip gloss. When smiling, you can see that she has two rows of perfectly white teeth, a slight overbite present. She has helix piercings, conch piercings, tragus piercings, and lobe piercings in both of her ears. She has a septum piercing, as well. Jocelyn has three tattoos: two on her left thigh and one on the back of her neck. She plans on getting more, despite her parents' disapproval.
When it comes to her fashion sense, Jocelyn always tries her best to "dress to impress." Her wardrobe consists of affordable, yet stunning pantsuits, dresses, blouses, and a wide array of heels, boots, and sneakers. She likes to look her best everyday, and usually spends about an hour each morning making sure that there's nothing out of place. It's rare to see her in a state of disarray, as her mother raised her to believe that she should always look prepared and presentable, especially when she's the most frazzled. When it comes to jewelry, Jocelyn does not like to be flashy. At the most, she'll wear a large pair of hoop earrings and a ring on her index finger. Every now and then, Jocelyn will visit the thrift store to find clothes that she can "revamp."
║ Personality ║ The Positive:- Confident

What You See:
Those that do not truly know Jocelyn think of her as their school's "unfriendly black hottie." While being a very beautiful girl, many are turned off and away by her strong case of "resting bitch face." People assume that she is unfriendly, a statement that is supported by the fact that she doesn't take bullshit from anyone, and will stand up for herself and others whenever the opportunity presents itself. For this reason she has a bit of trouble making friends which, to the outside eye, is perceived as a preference of keep to herself, a notion which at times isn't entirely untrue. Due to her pricey wardrobe and makeup, some even assume that Jocelyn is full of herself. If you walk into the bathroom during third period, for example, there is a ninety-nine percent chance that you'll find Jocelyn standing in the mirror, touching up her makeup.
Along with her seemingly expressionless face and expensive clothing comes a very intelligent mind and confident demeanor. If you have a class with Jocelyn, you know that she is always on her game when it comes to her grades. Having maintained a solid A average since the sixth grade, she is the person who everyone tries to snag as their lab partner. Everyone knows and respects that Jocelyn is gunning for the number one spot in her class. They know that she has big plans for her future. She is also very confident in herself and her actions, and doesn't let anyone pull her down.
What I Know:
Jocelyn is very intelligent and very articulate, and loves having meaningful conversations and debates with others. Her confidence is shown through her powerful mannerisms. She is, more often than not, very kind and humble, and is well liked by those that get to know her. She is generally friendly, unless you give her a reason not to be. While being confident in both herself and her actions, this is often to a fault. She is very opinionated, has trouble asking for help, and hates admitting when she's wrong. Jocelyn also has a bit of a "potty mouth." Despite all of her flaws, there's no denying that Jocelyn is kind and dependable. If you ask her to meet you somewhere, she will be there; if she promises to do something, she will do it; if you ask her for help, she will do everything in her power to assist. Overall, Jocelyn is a kind soul looking to find her place in this world.
While some know that her parents can be a bit intense, they do not know of the amount of pressure that they put on her to strive in school and work towards becoming a lawyer. Another thing about Jocelyn is that she loves to rap and write songs, and wants to pursue a music career after graduation. She also smokes weed, unbeknownst to her parents, to help take her mind off of things and relax. What most also do not know about Jocelyn is the amount of volunteer work she does in her free time. If she isn't at home writing lyrics or smoking, she's at a homeless shelter or nursing home, eager to lend a hand.

║ My Dreams ║As far as her parents know, after pushing through high school while consistently maintaining an A average, Jocelyn plans to attend an ivy league school and major in Pre-law. After Law-School, she'll go on to becoming a defense attorney and working until she can open her own office.
Her real dream, however, is to go to Howard University in Washington D.C., all while pursuing her career as a female MC, following in the footsteps of her number one inspiration Lauryn Hill.

║ Brief History ║Jocelyn was born and raised in the "ghetto" slums of Brooklyn, New York. She was an only child, a product of an unexpected and unwanted teen pregnancy. Despite being deemed "not ready" to raise a kid by her family, Jocelyn's mother still brought her "bundle of joy" into this world. After just one long year of motherhood, however, Jocelyn's mother had reached her breaking point. After being forced to move into her baby father's place and fend for herself (and her newborn), her mother had much trouble affording clothes, diapers, and formula for her child. Jocelyn's father dropped out of high school and got a job, but it still wasn't enough to support all three of them. Long story short, the parents decided to put their baby girl up for adoption, and not much later, she was taken in by a beautiful Dominican couple originally from North Carolina. The couple were nice enough, and raised her well.
Growing up, Jocelyn was always very independent and ambitious. In elementary school, she was often recognized and rewarded for her academic and social achievements. Her adoptive parents were both high school teachers, and pushed for their daughter to partake in numerous activities: piano lessons, basketball, spelling bees, volunteer work, etc. From the age of seven, Jocelyn knew that she was adopted as a baby, but her parents had no great desire of letting her meet her birth parents. However, that did not stop her from figuring out who they were and digging up as much information about them as she could. Apparently, three years after she'd been given away, her father was shot and killed during a home-invasion, and her mother married, had three children, and became an English professor at Howard University. It was as if she'd forgotten all about her.
Before her Sophomore year, Jocelyn's daddy moved the family to a small town in Colorado because of a job promotion; he would soon become the principal of a local high school. Not being used to living in the "country," Jocelyn immediately felt out of place within the town. For a long time she missed the commotion of the city, her friends back home, and even the stray cat she used to feed on her walk to class everyday. This changed as time went on, and she began to make more friends and connections within her new school. She also had the chance to connect with family members she never even knew existed. As she grew older, her parents pushed her harder and harder to become who they wanted her to become rather than who she wanted to be. Instead of standing up to them,
she went along with what they wanted without complaint.
