- K'Vari, Star Breaker -

Ritske would soon be loyal to K'Vari. With the measures he had placed she would join him, either by choice or by force. It would be far more pleasant for her if she chose the former. The means he had in place allowed him to apply a most unpleasant sort of pleasure, and one that would not accept refusal.

The Eldar would soon be dead or enslaved. Either by Gregori's order or by his own volition the peacekeeper would investigate K'Vari, either directly on his ships or indirectly via the Obsidian Crusade. On his own he would certainly be quite competent, even with the security K'Vari kept, but little did the little assassin know that the hunter had become the hunted. A specialised death squad awaited the right moment, a group that would be defeated by neither stealth nor skill. He would be nothing more than an unfortunate casualty at worst, or at best an excuse for K'Vari to demand reparation from Gregori.

The main forces of the Imperium Reborn were compromised. They were oblivious, spread out, and the Obsidian Crusade would wipe out the forces on their homeworld if necessary. A group of uncoordinated rebels would be swiftly dealt with. An army of highly trained men with nothing to lose, armed and armoured in the very best K'Vari had to offer, would not be so easily dispatched. Should it be necessary he could with relative ease capture this planet's strategic resources, to hold it hostage. Should Gregori personally be present on the planet it would be fairly easy to send the entire little Imperium into anarchy with one well-timed coup.

The remaining problems were as such. The Ordo Chronos, the Adeptas Sororitas, the Relictors, the dual Inquisitors, and the Adeptus Astartes of the Space Wolves and Black Dragons chapters. Each of those groups formed a potential threat and obstacle, and each would need to be dealt with in turn. Once he had most of these factions in hand, he would possess domination over the Imperium Reborn. While he could not replace Gregori, he could at least play the strings behind the scenes.

Now he would need to deal with the most pressing matter. He was at his most powerful while the main forces of the Imperium were distracted, so he would need to ensure they stayed distracted. And that distraction could easily work in his favour. So Gregori wished to have this forge world? That was a motive that could be exploited. This Forge World would become the distraction K'Vari needed, so that he could strew the string of his webs until he had bound the entire Imperium to his will.

With a great burst of crackling energy, an immense hole in reality seemed to pop into being. Warp Stuff attempted to pour into the materium as the Battle Barge slowly moved into the Empyrean. Within moments he would be gone, sailing on the tides of the warp as if they were merely stormy water. Far above the primitive human warp technology, K'Vari had no need for navigators or an Astronomican. It was both his Stryxis heritage and his technological knowledge that allowed him to navigate the Warp with such ease. He could move from system to system with a casual mobility that was surpassed only by the warlike Biel-Tan Eldar. Within moments K'Vari would arrive at his destination, the very forge world that Gregori sought to incorporate into his realm. With just as thunderous a spectacle the ship emerged from the Warp, sending out coded signals to the inhabitants of this system.

This would not be the first time he had come here to trade. Where there was war, there was profit, and with war erupting across the galaxy, K'Vari was a very well-travelled creature. Those that dwelled here despised him, but knew his prices, if not fair, were worth it. All sides received his attention as his ship moved from place to place. Weapons, soldiers, assistance.... traps. Those previously ill-equipped and weary were revitalised as K'Vari gave out discounts like it was Christmas, all the while bleeding the world dry for those things his most generous ally would have valued. The Forge World itself was unfortunately not a prize to be traded away, even against K'Vari's considerable arsenal of goods, but he had done what needed doing. Those who fought here were equipped with a blueprint for a mass-producible Bolter variant, a smaller design of the sort often favoured by Inquisitors and Rogue Traders, not requiring the superhuman strength of the Angels of Death to wield. With the ability to construct such weapons they would form far more formidable enemies. More dangerous yet were the rumours and secrets he sold freely, truth and lie mixed equally, of enemies lying in wait and forces waiting just beyond the edge of the system. Incursions of Chaos, small Imperiums, the New Devourer reborn.... it didn't matter what enemy they feared. What mattered is that they holed up, and prepared their weapons. Gregori would find his enemies prepared and ready.

Of course, K'Vari also set several traps beyond the understanding of those he sold them to. Foremost among them was a rare item from across the galaxy, sold as a relic of great power and placed as a trap upon the surface of the Forge World itself. Insurance, to make sure that matters here did not progress too far, and Gregori did not retrieve his prize too easily. He needed to make sure that this Forge World was won at the cost of blood and pain, and that his honoured trading partner would return victorious only at great cost. The more he needed, the more K'Vari could provide, and the more influence he gained. And it would certainly help if some of those forces within Gregori's little council managed to get themselves eliminated in the struggle.

His business concluded K'Vari once more left, his ship moving through the Warp back to it's original position. There was no doubt that his little excursion had been noticed, although those at home base would know little more than that his ship had warped out. There was no way of telling where he had been or what business he had conducted, and he responded to Vox-transmitted demands only with the scan reassurance that he had merely gone on a trading expedition.

This was but the third in a long series of schemes for which he was laying the groundwork. For even as K'Vari himself went about his business on another world, his agents were securing another of his devious goals. Next up, Gabriel Corbec and his soldiers.

@Hecticlord@TemplarKnight07@Thecrash20

Gregori sighed as Lord Gabriel asked for further information. "I shall give you what I have Lord General, but know any information I have is several millennia out of date. The two other worlds were hive worlds controlled by despots who are now surely long dead. Even before the fall the worlds had a... tenuous relationship at best. Skirmishes and sponsored privateering were common between them. The Forge Moon itself is a Mechanicus installation that supplied Legions Skitarii and other Mechanicusa forces throughout the sector and had virtually no dealings with the other two worlds. If we are exceedingly lucky it is possible the Forge Moon was forgotten and has been left alone... but I do not believe in luck. Likely the Forge Moon had to seek help in order to keep itself fed, but we have no idea. That... is really all we know. Records are scattered, partial and long out of date. We are essentially going in blind.", The emperor sighed.

"As for numbers, the Forge moon was said to house two personal skitarii War Cohorts along with other mechanicus war conclaves of varying size. The hive worlds had large PDF and merchant fleets but virtually nothing else. So Lord Corbec, Inquisitors... give me your far more experienced educated guesses on what we should prepare for, this is a critical objective that we must take in-tact."

Of course Gregori had not shared everything. Like the fact that his family had stashed a massive stockpile of weapons in the forge world many millennia ago and had a small faction of techpriests loyal to them... of course Gregori had no idea if that faction still lived or if the stash had been plundered since then... or that the Forge Moon itself could have been destroyed long ago... it was impossible to tell, but he was not one to reveal the secrets of his success to just anyone.

Forge Moon Amatheus, Manufactorum Alpha I

@Marx@CaptainBritton

"++CYCLING MUNITION RESERVES. PLASMA CULVERIN FUEL CELLS OVER-HEATED 100% CAPACITY. SET FOR COOLDOWN 30.2 STANDARD TERRAM SECONDS. PHOSHPOR BLASTER CYCLING. . . OPENING FIRE++", the Kataphron destroyer's phosphor blaster expoded to life, white hot phosphor orbs slamming home into the hordes of cultists trying to rush over the barricades. The globes seared through the thin, makeshift armor into soft flesh, screaming-sizzling bodies collapsing under the rate of fire. Magos Dominus Xerxes Fekten grimaced... or would have is he had enough flesh to do so. Now only one of his escort still had a functioning primary weapon. The three Kataphron destroyers had done well thus far, two Grav cannons and a Plasma culverin proved more than sufficient to hold this breach with the Dominus' guidance when they were working. One Grav cannon had taken a direct hit from a rocket, ruining it for now and now the Plasma Culverin was silenced. A loud whine and *phut* sound accompanied a shot from the remaining fully functional Kataphron destroyer servitor. Xerxes watched as a loud crunch could be heard, a dent in the metal ground as a squad of heretics were flung into the air screaming. Their bodies were tossed above the crater like ragdolls, necks and bones snapping and tearing out of flesh as organs ruptured and exploded within their bodies. A few had their insides turned to slurry as their fleshy casing remained intact, falling to steaming piles of slurry as the gravity well died down... Xerxes loved Grav weaponry.

His own eradication beamer whined to life and fired, vaporising three charging cultists without a second thought. His Phoshor serpenta clicked empty, the pistol in need of a new clip as another heretic fell with a burnt crater where his face used to be. A Champion roared a challenge, Xerxes turning to the the massive brute as his shotgun fired, the pellets ricocheting off the techpriest without damage. He raised his power sword eagerly, eyes full of rage and murder... until the Magos' power axe lopped the big ugly brute's head from his shoulders, his body tumbling limply to the ground as the Xerxes hissed in annoyance... there were far too many.

A burst of binary and his servitors traks began to pull them backwards, their guns never falling silent in the fighting retreat as Xerxes fell back under their covering fire. They couldn't lose this breach... Xerxes cycled through all available units to seek support, finding no Skitarii, Kastelan Maniples or other such forces within range... luckily something far better was quite nearby. "+++Lord Askelad. Captain Vallis. Divert forces to sector I-z1346 immediately, the breach is being pushed and I have not the forces to hold it adequately. I shall await your arrival+++", he swung his axe in a wide arc behind himself, 4 cultists falling screaming cut in half as he turned, reloaded phosphor serpenta and eradication beamer firing.

"++PLASMA CULVERIN FUNCTIONAL. CYCLING RESERVE AMMUNITION. PRAISE THE OMNISSIAH, FIRE TO THE ENEMIES OF MANKIND++", Xerxes would have smiled if he could as the Kataphron destroyer vaporized a squad with a blast of plasma. Truly the fury of the of the Machine-god knew no bounds.

@thewizardguy

Gregori sighed as he sat heavily into his luxurious chair. His personal office was surprisngly free of ornament aside from his chair and lavish wooden desk. He had talked down to Space marines today and one had saluted him for it... it was certainly not what he expected. The sounds of his door opening and shutting again gave him cause to casually swing his chair about to see the Captain of his Protectorate. "My lord-", Gregori cut him off.

"What have I told you about calling me that brother? Only when we aren't in private quarters... now what is it?"

Cornelius laughed, "Of course Gregori. I grow used to it. I have the reports you asked for from Arexia Prime... why are you interested in these vigilantes?"

Gregori smiled at his brother, "Simple. They are challenging my authority. If they are killing gangers and helping people who will the people name their savior? I can only do so much on crusade and the populace is... fickle even with the ecclesiarchy. More freedom means they are more likely to support other things. Luckily, whoever these vigilantes are they have made a fatal error, they gave themselves a symbol. As technical criminals they cannot publicly defend themselves, so any act under their symbol becomes theirs. Even as I speak my agents are planting bombs at civilian centers across the hive and leaving the calling card of these hooded men. Soon the populace will hate them more than any other under hive gang. That my dear brother is where you come in. You will take half the Palace Protectorate down under the guise of cleaning up the under hive. Instead you and the PDF will target these 'heroes' while currently heavily damaged gangs are re-armed. They are an important part of the Hives society and I'm tired of seeing them get rubbed out."

Cornelius nodded in understanding. "Of course. It will be done before we leave for the Forge moon."

Gregori smiled. He could always trust Cornelius. It helped his relation to the Emperor was such a closely guarded secret. Family records hidden in the Amastov estate rather than the Emperor's palace. It could prove catastrophic should his enemies or even allies discover this fact. For now though his brother was simply the Captain of the Palace Protectorate, and Gregori aimed to keep it that way.

"Now, make sure K'varii is on his way. I need to see just how much the cretinous little shit of a xeno will charge me for his stealth ships... make sure our finest amasec arrives just after him, I'm going to need it."

@agentmanatee@Hecticlord@Thecrash20

Inquisitor Alexius leaned back in his chair and steepled his fingers, he had already formulated an elaborate series of plans to take the Forge-world. It was the kind of plans he had utilized for years when coordinated the Errant Cohort, one which was multi-layered and adaptable to suit the uncertainties reality could bring, and it was also one which didn't so much require his own experience so much as the experience of others, making the blame not entirely his if it all went sour.

"I propose a plan, it is quite complex, but it is one that I believe draws upon most, if not all of our forces' talents, and should serve as the perfect test of loyalty and capability . . . Since the objective is to take this world without destroying or seriously damaging it, I propose we begin with diplomacy. A delegation of myself, Inquisitor Consulve, and the Cannoness Thamus shall enter the Forge-World under a flag of peace and seek to negotiate the world and its personnels' induction into the Imperium. Simply tell us what we have to bargain with, and we will negotiate as hard or as soft as you wish.

Alexius then inclines his head over to Corbec.

"I would have you be the overseer of all that transpires regarding this matter, Lord Corbec. We shall have the might of our fleet fully on display. Appearing toothless would not serve well for appearances, so even if the fleet is never used, the mere sight of it should give others pause and take notice of us by that factor alone. I highly doubt those aboard wish their Forge-World ruined anymore than us.

He turned his eyes back to Gregori.

"Captain Tyros and those of his choosing shall be our delegation's personal protectors. If things turn bloody within the World, I have full confidence in his abilities to eliminate any foes within and extract us, and I do not doubt his loyalty . . . Which if the negotiations are inconclusive, or turn sour, then we immediately enact Plan B . . . We seize control of the Forge-World in a stroke so swift and precise that they won't even see it coming. Your assassin eliminates those who are in command of the world's operations . . . Throne, we may as well sneak him aboard on the same ship we come in so that he's in position . . . Captain Lattore and his brothers will secure the primary systems alongside any Kasarkin units that can be utilized, and Lady Ritske shall be the bait, the center of attention for the Forge-World's forces to focus on as she carves a bloody-swathe through any non-essential systems . . . As to how Plan B shall be pulled off, that is where our bold little Xeno Merchant shall have the opportunity to actually sell us on his technology's capabilities. It is one thing to shock and awe a room full of potential buyers with a demonstration that means as much as a conjuror's trick, it is another to sell said product with a proper field-test. Let him prove his value by sneaking our strike force aboard that world in such away that those aged Mechanicus sensors cannot see them. Such a strike team will be waiting and ready to deploy the moment negotiations turn bad or are concluded without our satisfaction.

Alexius leans back forward, his glance briefly going to the Lord-Militant and rival Inquisitor, the latter of whom he'd barely regarded for most of the time he was outlining his plans.

"Those are my thoughts on how the Forge-World operation should be dealt with. If any of you disagree or have concerns, feel free to propose another plan for his Imperial Majesty to consider."

Silently Alexius hoped that there would not be much argument here that would involve him. He had business to attend to back on his ship if the incessant vox-pings he was getting on his communicator were any indicator, and if his Ordo had done their job as he had instructed them to in his absence they may have turned up more work for him of a more private nature.

Ingenis Karthis
Lord Regent of the Ark Imperialis

The Materium was ripped open with a great crack as a void shattering rift blew open, sending ships hurling into real space like bullets. They were a pattering of ships that ranged from corvettes to cruisers lead by an elite, intimidating echelon of carriers and battle cruisers with a battleship to be found somewhere in the mix. Many were of clear Imperial origins with their Macro Cannon batteries and faded white battering ramps watched over by aging golden eagles who had saw countless battles and shots. But they had long lost their glorious mantle of elegance and divinity as many sported critical wounds to their hulls, crudely but efficiently patched up or fixed with make shift equipment. Even more add new additions to their superstructures that jutted out at strange angles cannibalized from the husks of other ships, a few even sports bits of meteors in their hulls that had since been mined out and treated as yet another part of the ship.

But all of these, even the mighty battleships, were dwarfed and cowered as the warp rift stretched and groaned as it expanded and a true behemoth thrusted its way into real space, dragged out of the Warp by its massive engine array. With an ominous creaking and groaning of metal and rock, the Ark Imperialis made an entrance which only a spacehulk like it could manage. But a spacehulk it was not as on board where thousands of souls and lives and the word of the Emperor. Not the bastardized cult that people blindly followed as the "will of the Emperor", but the real will of the Emperor, his Imperial Truth.

"We have successfully reentered real space my lord." a officers on the secondary command bridges voxed in to the main bridge, "All ships accounted for, Gellar fields held well so minimal deaths or warp entities. Minimal hull damage due to debris encountered in travel. Successful Warp jump I say sir. Releasing anchored vessels" Anchored vessels reffered to any ship that was perfectly functional barring a warp drive meaning that it had to attached and connect itself to the Ark in order to enter the warp and travel with the rest of the fleet.

"Thank the Emperor." Karthis sighed anbreath of relief as he sank into his plush chair located in the center of the main bridge. It was a strange yet beautiful mix of practical and opulence, perhaps even more well decorated than Karthis's humbly wealthy personal quarters. The fleet was forced to make a random warp jump when scanners displayed a Nurgle-devouted Chaos fleet arriving on the horizon. They managed to make the necessary preparations for a relatively safe jump and lost the diease ridden vessels in the stormy tides of the Immaterium, "Someone, where have we landed exactly?"

"I believe we are in..." cogitators whirred as star charts were reviewed, "I believe this is the Arexia System. and of course its another petty Imperium." The man rolled his eyes in exasperation, "These things are literally everywhere aren't they?"

"What did you expect?" Karthis chortled before his face returned to seriousness, "Send a local call for response, lets see if this "imperium" is any better than the last."

:: COMMUNICATIONS REQUEST
:: TO WHO LEADS THIS SYSTEM

This is Lord Regent Karthis of the Ark Imperialis.
We come in peace but are prepared to war. Me and my fleet have arrived in this system after exiting the cruel waves of the Immaterium. I humbly request access for asylum in this system and trade for supplies. We are able to trade but should the light of the Emperor still shine in your hearts, charity and donations would be very much appreciated.

We are guardians of the Emperor's Truth and his faithful adherents to his words and seek to protect a past that has since been long lost in the faith that he will one day return to us in his true, glorious form to lead us once more. Many thanks to thou.

The Emperor Protects. Long Live the Imperium of Man, even in Death.

"Duw ya fink we shoulda told 'em 'bout da fact we're a damn spahs holk sirah?" one of the more accented members of the crew noted.

"No." Karthis brusquely smirked, "Let it be a little surprise in the case they aren't as welcoming as we hope."

@agentmanatee@TemplarKnight07@Thecrash20

As Gabriel listened to the Inquisitor's plan he couldn't help but nod along. It was a good plan, it just had a few issues. After the Inquisitor finished Gabriel leaned forward to address his concerns.

"All in all Inquisitor Alexius you have a good plan. There are only a few flaws that I could think of. The first is that I do not believe that we should bring the Cannoness along for our attempts at diplomacy. While her zeal is commendable it would not serve her well when negotiating with the Mechanicus. You must remember the Mechanicus have their own beliefs and I would rather not have our diplomatic meeting ruined by a theological debate. The second flaw is a bit bigger. We can not afford to kill the leaders of the Forge Moon. They are just as irreplaceable as the technology on the Forge Moon itself. Because what use is the Forge Moon without the tech priests to run it."

After addressing the Inquisitor, Gabriel turned to Gregori.

"Now if turns out we do have to fight them my recommendation for fighting the Mechanicus is this, don't. The Mechanicus will have just about better everything then we would have and the only way we could beat them would be to drown them in bodies. Our best bet really is diplomacy as otherwise we will likely cause irreparable damage to either the Forge Moon or its inhabitants. Though we must remember our plans must be flexible as we don't actually know the situation at the Forge Moon. For all we know they were wiped off the map centuries ago and when we get there the planet is just an empty husk. I'm sorry that I don't have much to contribute at this stage, but I promise that when we arrive I will be able to come up with a much better plan."

As Gabriel leaned back again he couldn't help but grimace once more at the thought of trying to take a Forge Moon relatively intact. If this turned violent chances were many Imperial Guardsmen would die.

- Unknown, Arexia Prime -

The first of the bombs had come as a surprise. It was a devastating tactic, in multiple ways. The symbol they left certainly began turning popular opinion once more against the Obsidian Crusade, but it also had the effect of absolutely infuriating those who had joined. To those members that had already signed up it was clear that the government of Arexia Prime was behind these stunts, and some even lost direct family in these terroristic actions. It appeared that Gregori would rather slaughter his own civilians than tolerate a vigilante group. But while such actions were undeniably effective they were also undeniably reckless. Because, having made his move he had revealed himself, and in doing so might endanger his seat of power. K'Vari had already sent his response orders, and even now his soldiers scurried about to prepare for his counterattack.

The next morning a pile of corpses would be found near one of the bomb planting devices. No human could possibly have tracked down and killed these attackers without inside information, but then again K'Vari also employed some questionable creatures. And those that had been deployed for this mission specialised in such 'impossible' tasks. The scene of this particular crime differed from others for several important reasons. The most obvious was the man in black who remained standing out in the open, a tattoed member of the Black Crusade, who stared down the arriving enforcers. The other two reasons were at least as shocking, as a bomb powerful enough to blow up the entire complex was found in the back of the room, and the corpses were identified as Imperium officials. Even if attempts had been made to disguise the origin of these agents, K'Vari had made sure to dress them up as proper guardsmen. The member who remained was an initially somewhat reluctant recruit who had lost what remained of his family in one of the bombings. And when they came to arrest him he loudly and publicly proclaimed that the Imperium had declared war on the crusade by impersonating them. That there would be consequences to these actions, and that the world of Arexia Prime would soon be rid of it's corrupt overlords. He decried this new Imperium, and promised that the Obsidian Crusade would work to prevent such bombings in the future. All the while several other agents broadcasted the event, making sure that every citizen on Arexia knew of these happenings. Even if the reputation of the Oblivion Crusade could not be entirely salvaged the world would be thrown into a state of confusion, as the blame for such events was thrown around.

Controlling the upper echelons of the underworld, K'Vari soon noticed when the gangs began to receive new armaments. Using such weapons and the chaos and poverty caused by the explosions these gangs would soon grow in size and strength, threatening K'Vari's control of the black market. But such things were no longer important if he simply destroyed the market. Using his existing gangs he instigated gang wars, setting group against group and army against army. Shootouts occured in broad daylight, lasgun-wielding maniacs fighting for territory over the ruins of newly bombed locations. Old rivalries were renewed, and attacks both real and imaginary provoked brutal counterattacks. Civilian quarters were blown to pieces, schools became battlegrounds, and hundreds of heavily armed maniacs roamed the streets. No longer was Arexia Prime a safe place to live, and even officials of the Imperium soon had trouble. With the world in such a state of chaos and anarchy it would be impossible to root out the Obsidian Crusade, who mostly pulled back from the world to be enslaved on K'Vari's large trade ships. His plans were ruined, perhaps, but he had suffered no great loss. In slaves, he had gained. But he would make Gregori pay quite dearly for this little victory, as production, morale and recruitment rates plumetted.

When you bomb your own civilians it spreads chaos and unrest. When you arm your criminals you only encourage crime and anarchy. While these were initially balanced out by the Obsidian Crusade, by throwing his weight onto the opposite side of the equation K'Vari had effectively begun a chain reaction that would see all of Arexia become a crime-infested hellhole. It would take an army of dedicated Arbites weeks to clean up anything, and the loss of hundreds of men. And in the meantime the critical losses in production, transportation and recruitment would inflict grievous wounds that Gregori could not afford so shortly before an invasion. And even years after this event had passed it would be remembered, scars in the population's trust and morale that would not heal so easily. Even if now Gregori made himself the conquering here there would be those that blamed him, and there would be those who thought him incompetent.

The Obsidian Crusade was no more, but at what cost?

- K'Vari, Arexia System, Star Breaker -

The mention of 'trade' in a vox transmission practically lit up the dashboard of K'Vari's ship. K'Vari himself immediately decided to reply to these strange new arrivals, certain to act before Gregori did. A new faction had entered this area, and K'Vari would need to analyse them as soon as was possible. From what his scanners told him the force that now emerged from the Warp easily matched Gregori's personal forces, not including the many ships belonging to his allies. Such an important player would need to have a welcome.

"Greetings, Ark Imperialis. This is K'Vari of the Star Breaker, representative of K'Vari enterprises and current guest of Gregori Amastov, honoured ruler of the Imperium Reborn. I have received your request for assistance, and profess myself open to trade. You appear to possess many ships, perhaps more than you need. Although I believe that Gregori's pet Imperium at this stage will be quite unable to assist you, being in the midst of war preparations and a minor riot, my caravan ships certainly contain the supplies you need. We would be happy to engage in trade. I believe I should be able to provide you with all of the food, ammo, scrap metal and other resources your honourable fleet may required." With this humble little message K'Vari hoped to open friendly communication with these outsiders. He would need to ensure that they were not all too attached to Gregori. It was a good thing that his honoured trading partner would be hard-pressed to provide them with charity, as that would certainly earn some degree of loyalty, or at least improve relations between the two. Any supplies given to the Ark Imperialis would cut out of those he himself needed to prepare for the war, and would make the battle ahead that much more dangerous.

- Shifar, Dark Moon -

The Goliath-Class transport ship was perhaps K'Vari's main store of supplies. While most of the supplies he had brought with him had been traded away, he was in need of a refill. For relatively little he bought up vast amounts of food from the agri-worlds under Gregori's control, one of the reasons he had managed to keep his Imperium relatively prosperous. Having been loaded with an immense amount of food and small amounts of other supplies the ship set off into the Warp.

Shifar sat behind a series of consoles, carefully and skillfully navigating the ever-changing tides of the Warp. With a degree of skill that was unmatched in other races the Stryxis pilot manoeuvred his ship to his destination, as he considered his situation. As one of the few Stryxis under K'Vari's control he was technically free to keep a share of the profits made. But like all Stryxis he dreamed of one day usurping K'Vari's position and becoming Caravan Master. While he currently lived a life of luxury, as caravan master he would be able to buy and sell entire planets. K'Vari knew nothing of how to wield true power, his position was wasted on the cunning but unimaginative little trader. They had the military might and secrets to devastate entire worlds, and yet K'Vari insisted on trading for their goods, even if his manner of trade wasn't always what others would consider 'fair'.

The immense ship soon emerged from the warp, interrupting his musing. A small Forge World resided many systems away, extensive defence platforms and skitarii regiments keeping the local Imperiums from getting too greedy. The Forge World had the military might to protect it's secrets, but lacked food, and that was exactly what K'Vari had been providing. In exchange for cargoes of weaponry, servitors, and other important constructed items, K'Vari would deliver great stores of food from far-off Agri-Worlds. It was a task the Stryxis were uniquely suited for, not requiring Navigators, Geller Fields or the Astronomican. Instead their technology and unique heritage allowed them to sail the warp in safety and comfort, with a speed only the Eldar could match. And as such K'Vari and his predecessors had accrued a network of worlds that needed certain items, and a great knowledge of where to acquire such items. Of all of the Stryxis' mysterious gifts, perhaps this ability to safely move through the warp was their greatest advantage in this time of shattered trade routes and great needs. It certainly helped propel K'Vari to fortune, and allowed him to possess what he now had. It was simply a shame that there were so few placed still capable of constructing ships, and K'Vari had been unable to replace those ships he had lost in his encounters. Hence why he was in the market for new void-capable vessels.

About a day later Shifar once more guided the Dark Moon back through the warp, allowing the immense ship to languish once more in Imperium territory, now loaded with a variety of goods. Perhaps one day soon Shifar would make his move, when his mysterious master least expected it, and all that wealth would be his for the taking.

- K'Vari, Emperor's Chariot -

Once more flanked by his honour guard of two vat-brutes, K'Vari made his way into Gregori's audience chamber. This time, however, a series of slaves behind him dragged large metal boxes, containing a variety of goods he hoped to either sell or show off. Smiling upward at Gregori he made a little bow, causing the variety of trinkets haphazardly attached to his robes to clink together. "Honoured biped, I believe that it is time for us to engage in trade? The first order of business shall be the stealth device that you witnessed before. It is the Phase Reality Field, surely a most stunning and astonishing weapon. Wielding such a devastatingly effective device one ship is as a hundred, and a fleet equipped as such could conquer the very stars. A weapon truly unmatched within this universe. Truly befitting of your fleet, is it not?" With another bow K'Vari sent a series of tinkling sounds echoing through the room, and a ruby sheat attached to his shoulder threatened to fall off entirely. "Surely there is no need to discuss price for such a fine weapon, such a device. Any price would be too low, for in truth, am I not selling you the Empire of Man, the dream you pursue? Why certainly it ruins me to sell it to you at all, for anything I would ask would be too low a price. But I am a fair trade, and you are an honourable trade partner, and as such I believe I will choose to sell it to you, as opposed to any other force in this universe. That you, and no other, might inherit the power to rule, and to rule without opposition even from the vast armies of the Dark Ones." Looking over Gregori stood straight and made a dismissive gesture, as if the price he named was trivial, barely even a scrap. "I believe that I will, just for you my honourable trading partner, settle for merely 10%."

Aboard the Ark Imperialis

A jolt ran through the entirety of the ship, even the massive spacehulk still suffered from the effects of tearing a hole into realspace and being pushed through it. It groaned as various internals shifted and moved in unsettling directions as it bore the brunt of the forces. Any normal person would no doubt become worried about the structural integrity of the vessel with all the unsettling noises, but those who lived aboard the Ark Imperialis for generations went about their business normally, apathetic in the sounds they had long been accustom too. They knew how much the ship could take and a normal warp jump would equate to some shaking ground and nothing else.

That said, it was a pretty effective wakeup alarm as Ahral Judaca quickly found out. He was always a light sleeper (for a space marine) and these forays into the warp/real space almost always woke him up. Good thing that he didn't exactly need to sleep for a very long time. The Knight Eternal rolled onto his side as he blinked his eyes into clarity and smiled as he saw his wife doing some prayers to a small shine they had in their luxurious abode wearing some causal robes. "Luxurious" might be stretching it but their dorm was twice the size that of a normal dorm that many people slept in, a generous four meter by four meter for an Astartes and a War Maiden to live in.

"... And so with the true Emperor as my witness with his words of fatherly guidance I do swear upon his most glorious Imperium of hold to up hold his ideals so it may live on unto generations beyond when he may lead mankind once more, amen." the War Maiden's pretty, feminine voice ended the prayer and opened her eyes to see Ahral in a nearby mirror, "Awake now I see? Slept for quite a while, almost six hours."

The man shrugged as he climbed out of the mattress on the ground and cracked his shoulders, "Even the most loyal servants must rest their heads and refresh their minds sometimes, Seilya."

"Than you must be quite refreshed." she replied as she brushed her dyed-white hair out of her eyes and checked on a stewing pot on a cooker. All War Maidens of age had their hair dyed that shade of white; a symbol of spiritual purity back in the old Imperium where it seemed all Sisters of Battle had that style.

"Quite." Ahral grunted as he stripped of his sleeping fatigues before opening the door into the well lit halls. His power armor and gear was located outside, locked and sealed in plasteel container that opened only to him or his wife. It also served as his mailbox and address indicator. With the assisting arms of a servitor, Ahral's power armor was quickly fitted onto his massive body and the space marine stepped back inside for a second with a thud, now holding another suit of smaller, more flexible power armor in his hand.

"Careful not to get dirt onto the bed dear." Seilya handed Ahral his meal canisters with a several meals's worth of food, exchanging it for her own power armor that Ahral brought in.

Ahral just rolled his great blue eyes and carefully kissed Seilya on the fleur-de-lis tattoo on her cheek as she stripped before walking out, chortling a "I love you" before locking the door. Another visit to his personal armory had him come out with a power sword and bolt pistol; it was mandated that a Knight should never be far from his weapons. Lacking a helmet, the space marine gingerly inserted a comm bead into one ear and left for the nearest lift.

The hall was relatively crips and clean, servitors and janitors made regular rounds in these higher-end living quarters that held major personas. Light decorations such as purity seals, line draped along the walls and sparse mix of propaganda and advertisement posters. With thundering footslogging, Ahral made it to the lift and called it down. The clattering and screeching of gears and a shower of sparks soon brought down a platform with a pair of citizens who immediately bowed at the sigh of the astartes in unison, "Greetings milord, honor to thou."

"Blessings to thy." Ahral nodded his head as he walked in, completing the greeting. The two citizens who literally stood in his shadow resumed their conversation, the massive superhuman next to them clearly a regular appearance that didn't warrant any stammering and awkwardness from them. From what Ahral picked up, they were just engaging in normal gossip and discussing the newest deals in one of several market areas on the Ark. Floors flashed past them as the lift descended, the space marine stood at perfect, unflinching attention and watched lights fly past, the daily running exercise of a Nova Militarum squad, shouting of an incoherent argument and the rumbling of a Rhino transport on one of the more open levels. The lift suddenly jerked to a halt, the pair of gossipers walked off discussing rumors of some husband cheating on his wife with some strumpet but their spot was soon filled with another figure.

"Greetings Knight Eternal Ahral Judaca." A red robed figure spoke with a noticeable metallic twang in his voice that emphasized the start of every word, a small contraption replacing most his voice box after he lost it in a freak accident. The architek was hoisting a tool box at his side along with a Libre Logos, a half manual half holy script carried by nearly all architeks, "On Your Way To The Training Grounds?"

"No, not today Tarch my friend, the Chapter Master has assigned me to provide assistance one of the hanger bays for an upcoming mining survey." Ahral shook his head at his friend. Trach was an "architek", descendant of the hereteks who originally found their way in the fleet of House Karthis or techpreists who accompanied the Knights Eternal when they were still the Wardens Aegis. They were the closest things to techpriests the Ark Fleet had but many aboard say that they're far more effective at what they're supposed to be doing no doubt to the culminations of their various minor tech-heresies. Tarch himself was one who dedicated himself to the School of Generation and found himself working in the various Generatorums that powered the Ark.

"I Seeeee...." Tarch's voice box trailed off as several more floors flew by the pair, "How Is Seilya Doing?"

"She is preforming exceptionally." the space marine engaged the architek in small talk as they waited, "I was told that she demonstrated great finness in a recent combat simulation and was awarded accordingly."

"That Is Nice. Has Her Cooking Improved?"

"It is suitable for nutritional requirements."

"I Take That Answer As A 'No'. Funny How Someone Who Can Make Such Good Pickled Root Stew Can Literally Only Make Pickled Root Stew."

"To be fair, she did not burn the meat too badly the last time we got Eating Squig rations." the couple burst into light chuckling, "In her defense, she was a warrior first and a wife second. I still adore her regardless even if I only see for a short duration during breaks when I'm on duty."

Tarch moved to reply but sighed once he heard the buzzing of a servo-skull whizzing down the elevator shaft from above. Both of the men knew what it meant: someone higher up decided that it was an opportune time to mess up Tarch's work day. Cursing in the mysterious language of the architeks, the red robed man shot out his arm and shook the skull, yelling at it in a hilarious monotone voice to tell him the message it carried. After a brutal shakedown, the servo-skull's eye lit up and flashed a message to Tarch.

"Pardons Architek Tarch VI... You Are Being Moved Blah Blah Blah... Please Do Make Haste... Blah Blah Blah Bureaucratic Bullshit... Generatorum XVII? Those Reactors Again?" the robes visibly sighed as his increasingly depressed voice only got increasingly monotone, "Why Do They Always Put Me There? The Machine Spirits There Hate Me... They Should Have Gotten Arado Instead Dammit."

"We all must preform our duties, even if we do not favor them." recited the space marine as the rumbling lift came to a stop and its chain-linked fence door opened to let him out, "Farewell Tarch, good tidings at work. Don't let the Praetorians catch you doing Daedalus again!"

"You Bastard! You Know That I Stopped Taking That Ages Agoooo....." the voice of the architek faded as the lift dissapeared into the darkness, clearly unamused by an inside joke between two friends.

Streching his back as much as his armor allowed him to, Ahral looked at the sign opposite to the now empty shaft that stated the letters of "Welcome to the Gospel" with the various wards and facilities listed under it that now occupied the former Ministorum ship. Having long since remembered his route, the space marine turned and made way for one of the hanger bays he was assigned too. As he peered out of reinforced window, he saw a dozen or so Augur Probes being shot out into the void and wondered what was this place going to hold for the fleet.

–=✦=– –=✦=– –=✦=– –=✦=– –=✦=–

With her husband out, Seilya confined in herself that she wouldn't be seeing him for the next few days besides during extended breaks and such as the ability of an astartes to stay awake and function for multiple days on end also meant some pretty bizarre work schedules for them on the Ark by normal standard. But alas, such was life when you decide to marry a space marine.

With her power armored donned and hair combed neatly in a small, old mirror, the War Maiden grabbed her pack and slung it over the shoulder. Locking the door and obtaining her rifle from the container outside, Seilya dashed to the nearest shuttle terminal. Now that the Ark was finally out of the Immaterium, it meant that the shuttle craft were operational again and no more having to sit in internal transport trams or walk all the way across the ship.

One trip down a staircase and up a lift later, the maiden got to the terminal. It was an open area with a wide bay window to look out into the void from and it seemed that there was already plenty of void traffic with other shutters and cargo transports zipping about along with routine strike craft patrols and exercises. Seilya's heels clacked loudly against the grimy, cracked marble floor of what was previously part of a corvette. The entire terminal was was like an internal space port, a massive electronic billboard update periodically with incoming arrivals and departures as a PA system blared the same times only much louder. Passing through a crowd of people, Seilya flashed her Ordo Sororitas icon at the ticket master who nodded as she past through the gate.

Skipping through the security check, Seilya stopped before a child psyker with a coat loaded with seals and runes and trinkets, flanked by a pair of Nova Militarum guardsmen; clearly assigned to both protect the psyker and escort anyone she deemed dangerous out and to also kill her if she proved to be unable to control her power. "She's all clear." the little girl looked up from a text made to educate young psykers like her, and warmly waved with a big cute smile "Hello sister!~"

Seilya waved back and continued on wards with renewed haste; her shuttle was already at the gate and set to leave. Pushing through the looser gaggle of people, holding her Sororitas icon high to signify who she was and why people should let her through, the maiden got on to her shuttle. It was an odd little thing, the bastard child Valkyrie transport and a Taurox Prime that was sealed and safe for space travel after it got a visit by some architeks. With most of the seats taken, Seilya took a standing spot and held on to dangling cord to let an elderly old man take the last seat.

A gently dinging tone played in the hold before an image of a strapping young pilot flashed up on an archic screen attached to the back wall before a voice crackled over the intercom:

"This is your pilot speaking. My name is Atams Wodend and this is Shuttle Flight DT-6-4 to Cathedral Ward 9 aboard the Yonder Light. Our flight should take around about ten minutes and we've been blessed with clear space with no debris of any sort but it is recommended that you hold on to something at all times just in case. We will be lifting off in less than a minute once the hanger bay has cleared, thank you for flying with us today and we'll be landing shortly. Imperium Aeternum."

Sure enough, within a few seconds Seilya could hear the engines charging before a sudden surge forward signaled that they were moving and now in the void. Looking out of a sealed view port, the sister had a chance to meditate and look out into all the lights that danced between the behemoths. One thing she was taught is that even in the darkest times such as these, people must be able to see the light and beauty of things less they fall to despair which in turn leads to heresy. It was oddly calming these shuttle flights, they always managed to calm Seilya down even after a long, busy day. Some days could be quite busy surprisingly enough, just like the busy teens who where chattering away in the peanut gallery.

"Hey hey, did you hear? Apparently a daemon appeared in block A6!"
"Oh my Emperor, what happened?!"
"Hehe... well, apparently -I heard this all from my friend by the way- someone spotted a red daemon on catwalk with this big ol' sword-"
"Musta been one of them Corny daemons!"
"Shut it and let me finish. But anyways, they screamed and ran with the thing right behind them. Thought he was going to be killed but then one of the Knights appeared in his underwear and beat the shit out of it with his hands! Apparently he was coming back from washing."
"Really? I don't believe it."
"Oh yeah? Than how do you explain the blood on the wall in A6?"
"Whose this other 'friend' of your's who told you about this mate?"

Seilya chuckled as the story teller went silent only to insist that it actually happened. A small tap of her heels brought the young ones to rapt attention that they were telling such a story in the presence of a Sororitas. In unison, they clapped their hands together and begged for forgiveness to which Seilya brought out her icon and held it in one hand as she granted forgiveness to them with her other. She wasn't fully qualified to deliver forgivenesses, but she reckoned that her actions would be enough of a pardon for them to get to a proper Priest to confess. They were going to a Cathedral Ward after all.

After some profuse thanking, the rest of the trip was uneventful and relatively silent minus some humming from another passenger. As advertisements and PSA flashed regularly on the screen behind her, Seilya thought it appropriate to close her eyes in silent prayer. She could feel it, the vibrations of the machine that flew her, the hissing of the air refreshers but more importantly, the gentle, loving touch of the Emperor of Mankind. Not the false proxy which had torn holy Terra apart, but the one who would come back one day.

Another tone brought her out of her trance and the pilot spoke again:

Alright folks, we are a minute out from landing in the Yonder Light. Please remain seated or stationary until the craft has come to a complete stop and I've turned on the 'okay' light. I hope you have enjoyed your shuttle flight and me and my fellow pilots will be waiting to take you on your next flight, thanks for flying with us. Imperium Aeternum.

In short time, the Valkyrie/Taurox hybrid came into an airlock, hissing winds blew into the void as the doors closed and pressure was stabilized. Once the green light flooded the compartment, everyone began to filter out into the terminal.

This one was a fair bit grander than the one which Seilya had come from, no doubt due to it being a former holy ship of the Emperor and the home to a Cathedral Ward. Golden leaf was artfully plastered on select decorations as dedicated servitors helped to mop up the floors and shine the innumerable skulls and busts giving the place an aurora of cleanliness found in few other places in the fleet.

"Ahh, there you are Sister Seilya!" a jovial priest with a bionic eye and cane appeared in front of the wife of Ahral, a pregnant hospitaler right behind hime waved at Seilyra from behind the man.

"Father Lutz, Sister Frei, greetings to the both of you." Seilya gave the priest a firm handshake and hugged the medical sister, "How's the baby?"

"She's coming along just fine, I checked it myself earlier." Frei chirrped, "My husband is also overjoyed, says he's glad that we had the procedure done."

"Glad to hear it, will he be joining us today?"

"Sadly not, Villiam is currently training some guardsmen. He's probably giving them hell right now."

The trio laughed as a servo-skull whizzed over the crowd, dodging several others before dropping straight down and resting on Father Lutz's shoulder. It bore a small golden crest on its forehead, one that detailed the fluer-de-lis of the Ordo Sororitas and held in its metallic jaw a scroll of parchment that the priest reviewed, bionic eye zooming in an out, "Well, we shouldn't keep the Canoness waiting it seems; the Emperor demands his will be carried out with great haste. Shall we depart sisters?"

Seilya nodded and smiled, looking forward with a face full of pride, "Let us carry on to the abby. May the Emperor guide us, Imperium Aeternum."

Ingenis Karthis
Lord Regent of the Ark Imperialis

@thewizardguy

Unable to hide his scowling, the Lord Regent was less than impressed by his first contact, this "K'Vari" person. Judging by the voice, it was either xenos or someone with an absolutely atrocious inability to speak low gothic. The whole "perhaps you have more ships than you need" bit really got to Karthis's core as his heart flared up but he calmed himself down. Clenching his fists, his whispered to himself "Emperor give me thy strength" and breathed in. Five paces later, he breathed out. And then in for five paces, and exhale. He continued this process another three times until he felt his heart rate was sufficiently calm and he was suitable for action.

"I would like to send a reply to our newest 'friend'." Karthis barked uncharacteristically, "Get me a servitor to record all of this as well. I'm especially interested in this Gregori Amastov person."

"How much you want to bet he's one of them 'the Emperor chose me' kind of guys?" One of the crewmen betted.

"Nah, I think he's 'I am da emprah!' person." the other preformed a crude jesture of a man twisting his arms and legs in right angle positions with a stupid dance to follow.

"Gentlemen." Karthis coughed, "You two have a job remember."

::TRADE PROPOSAL::
::ONE "K'VARI"::

While the Ark Imperialis and her fleet are in need of resources, we are by no means willing to give up ANY of our ships for whatever reason due to our circumstances. Our ships are under the protection of the Emperor and only in death will we give them to other hands. We are willing to negotiate trade and donations with whatever other resources we deem fit but with no guarantees of accepting random, unhelpful trades.

However, we would also like to request a direct line to this "Gregori Amastov" who you have mentioned being your primary beneficiary. As Lord Regent of the Ark Imperialis, I would like to converse with a fellow leader of men and see for myself what kind of a man he is.

@Hecticlord@agentmanatee@Thecrash20

Alexius turned his head back to Corbec at the Lord Militant's reply.

"I understand your concerns regarding the Cannoness, Lord Corbec. One would not expect her excellency to be the first choice as a diplomat, especially to former representatives of the Mechanicus due to her zealousness. But you see that is precisely why I believe she could serve well on it, especially since we possess no members of the former Tech-Priest Cult of Mars among us of any significant prominence.

This is a matter of image as much as substance, this campaign will not only be watched with interest by us and our peoples, but by many others. Most easily being the two known competitors within the system, and who knows how many others? If we are to establish ourselves as the Imperium Reborn, we need to set the right impression in whatever we do, in everything we do, ideally. The Cannoness' role is not so much as a diplomat, but rather to show the Mechanicus, and others, our legitimacy through faith. Anyone with enough self-authority can claim to be an Inquisitor with our offices being so drug through the dirt over the centuries by, regrettably, many of our own former comrades. However, few can mimic the authenticity of a vested Cannoness of the Ecclesiarchy without possessing a high degree of knowledge and skill that is not easy to come by these days with the Ecclesiarchy itself in ruin.

Besides, we can play a hard bargainer to our advantage, potentially. I would have to discuss our strategy with the Cannoness and Inquisitor Consulve, should we go forward with this plan. But in principle, a mailed and righteous fist, while crude, can creatively be used by a cunning enough mind.
"

Inquisitor Alexius absently scratched his head, itching a bit. He was going to have quite a few appointments after this meeting was finished if this all went through. He and his Ordo would have no rest, but such was his plan.

"As for the role of the assassin, I concur. Though by "eliminate" I didn't necessarily mean "kill", wrong choice of phrase perhaps. Either way, the point is he'd be the one to remove from play anyone who might be able to turn the whole might of the Forge-World, and its not to be underestimated forces, against us quickly and in an organized fashion. We shall consider it a test of his skills along his chosen path that he complete his task without killing any of them, preferable and if possible . . . Though I still believe that, if necessary, we cannot allow for a protracted battle over the Forge-World under any circumstances. If killing the Magos and whatever other command staff they have on board is the only way to help mitigate or avoid what could result in the unnecessary loss of troops or material, I say we advise him to take the opportunity, just as with any who would be assaulting the Forge-World, if it came to that."

Captain Lattore - The Wandering Chronos

"So, your arrival into present time was indeed centuries ago. Seeing as how generations have passed on your ship since then, the old Imperium must still seem like the ancient past to you as much as it does to me. That is unfortunate." Truly, Leal had longed for some faint vision of history through these men, and was disappointed to find none. The rogue addict behind him wasn't much for words, which was certainly for the best in Leal's opinion, and he said nothing to her.

Leal decided it was time to broach another subject as they waited for Alexius. "Perhaps, if you are not at liberty to discuss the studies of your ordo, you would be able to inform me of the state of security aboard The Wandering Chronos?" His sharp blue eyes fixed uncomfortably on Varius as he sipped his water. "Could the situation benefit from the presence of a few Astartes on board? The protection of Inquisitor Commenus and your ordo is a top priority."

Forge Moon Amatheus, Manufactorum Alpha I

There was not a foot to be gained without a life taken for it and the Wolves had nearly reached a kilometer when Wolf Lord Askeladd Tyrfingr's vox blared to life. "Lord Askeladden, I have dire reports of our forces," communications officer Merrill spoke, continuing without waiting for acknowledgement. "Sector I-z1354 through 57 have held with minimal casualties. We've lost nearly all of our squadrens placed in zones 1360 and 1361. Less than a dozen guardsmen stand at 1360, half that at 1361. We've lost nearly a third of the men we've supplied and I hear losing anymore would leave us severely undermanned."

"Acknowledged," Askelad responded, ducking under the swipe of a Champion's ax before swiping a set of claws through the heretic's torso, spilling his entrails onto the ground. "They are to stand until there is lack of ground to stand on or foe to stand against," he swung both of his claws through a group of cultists firing ineffective weapons, sullying his claws with their blood and the earth with their corpses, "For the fallen, the Emperor, and Russ." A sudden burst of plasma caught the Wolf Lord off guard, nearing Askeladden before Harald could step in and take the blow onto his storm shield. The krack of bolter fire behind him, followed by the arm of the attacker flying into the air alerting the lord of Eiryk's presence. "Well met," he acknowledged, the others echoing back to him.

On hearing the Magos Dominus's call for reinforcements, the wolf lord activated a beacon to alert their pilot that he was in need of an immediate evac. "We are needed elsewhere, wolves. Hold the line until our men have reinforced themselves." Already he was receiving reports from Merrill updating him on the breach that his wolves had pushed through a kilometer back, verifying that it had been reinforced sufficiently and repaired as well as one can in several hours. Swarms of cultists approached, pelleting their armours with small arms fire. Harald and the other Blood Claw, Mathias formed rank before the Wolf Lord, planting their stormshields at his flanks while Hunter Eiryk and Rune Priest Aesir filed behind the two and fired into the crowds. Those that managed to make it past the bolter fire were met with the slamming of frost ax and thunder hammer, and the rending of claws. Gore showered the shields and their wolf lord and still they held, the bodies beginning to pile at their feet.

The roar of the Thunderhawk's engines slowly crept over the cries of battle and the firing of weapons, though not until its twin lascannons began to tear into the cultists, leaving cauterised holes in bodies large enough for a man to stick their arm through. "Back," Askeladd needlessly commanded, the formation already breaking and moving backwards toward the LZ. The Thunderhawk came to a rest before the pack, its bay doors opening while the duo of heavy bolters mounted along the fuselage provided coverfire. They were loaded and en route to the Magos Dominus before the cultists had so much as a chance to recover.

"Wolves en route, Magos Dominus Fekten," Askeladden broadcasted, turning to face his brothers. "Things look grim, my brothers. If we should die on this day, then die well brothers. For Russ."

"For the Emperor," they answered.

"For the fallen," they roared.

Aboard the Ark Imperialis

The gears ticked a steady, consistent beat with the industrial sounds of the piston hydraulics pumping and the gentle arcing of electricity forming a melody. Hisses of steam accentuated notes while the static hums of a generator provided a bass line. Pitched beeps and boops filled in the gaps in regular sequences as data rolled in like a lulling tide of information across the screen. Shuffling about, the sevitors clanked and stomped about, their foot steps weighed down by the machinery they carried without fail in their augmented arms; criminals they once were, forced to become mindless machines that obeyed every order dutifully and made to see their bodies act against their own wills for possibly decades to come.

Orchestrating this concerto of machinery and tinkering was one Architeck Alpha Sayun, tapping his fleshy heels to the sounds of his workshop in progress. It provided a lovely sight and inspiring sound of business to compliment his subordinate architeks with their servitors and apprentices going about. Today was just as busy as any other even if the post-warp travel normalities where taking place. It just meant that instead of forging bolter shells and transforming wrought iron into a fine blade for a Praetorian, he was ordering for the repair of cables, checks of hull integrity and purification of the machines from any warp-born spirits that sought to weed their wicked tendrils into the holy machine spirits.

His workshop was blessed to be next to one of the dozens of transport terminals, allowing for rapid dispatch of architeks and delivery of materials to his forges from stockpiles elsewhere. He had a storage facility close to him but it was far smaller than his workshop and carried either the most mundane of metals and alloys or the most exotic of isotopes and minerals which rarely found use in a place like him dedicated to repairs and simpler constructions. Perhaps if he had been authorized by the Lord Artificer of the Officio Fabricus to specialize his workshop to circuitry or gadgets that could make use of the rarer materials he would use them. But, it was common knowledge that it was the great forges and factories made from the Mechanicus Forge Ships and their workshop offshoots located towards the core of the Ark Imperialis would get all of the attention and favoritism. He and his outlying workshop at the edge of the outer hull of the ship would get little attention by the higher ups unless he proved that he was worthy.

To this end, he had been feverishly working in his private chambers, surrounded teetering towers of tomes of ancient knowledge that threaten and neatly filed documents, notes and technical drawings that were now spread all over his chamber, and a small data bank that servoskulls zipped to and fro to bring the Architek Alpha for his study. It had been nearly 50 hours since Sayun had slept and 30 since he last ate. He could feel his organics begging for nourishment and his mental implants overclocking to heir breaking points but he couldn't rest now. He was on the cusp of something, he could feel it! Something kept his circuits stirring and his tired eyes fixated on his auto-quill in his hand. There was a bubble of inspiration just begging to be burst by a sharp enough mind and Sayun thought himself the one to do it as he felt tingling in his bionics. "Could this be?" Architek Alpha Sayun looked at his trembling left claw, "Could this be the blessings of the Machine God within me?"

Renewed with a zealous fervor, the ink bled on to the parchment faster than ever as data was reivewed, recorded and transcribed at fast as the limited amount of mental implants Sayun possessed allowed him. He was an architek of a more zealous variety, still believing very much in the Omnissiah despite what had become of Holy Mars. While much of the Ark's inhabitants believed the Emperor of Mankind to be one in the same as the Machine God, Sayun saw them as two separate entities like competing brothers. Needless to say, it had gotten him into more than enough ideological troubles with others (and perhaps all the commotion he once caused was the exact reason he was assigned to such a remote workshop).

The nuero-circuits in his mind began to make connections, links he previously thought obscure synapsed to fruition that formed new thoughts. He could feel it, inching ever closer and closer to enlightenment and greatne––

"AAaaAARRrrRRrHHhhhHHhHHGGGGGggGGGgGgggg!" the man's face twisted and contorted as pain wraught his mind, clutching his mind with his organic hand as he screamed in pain. His cry soon devolved into mindless blubbering and gibberish as his lack of respect for his own body and implants lashed out in revenge for Sayun's negligence. He had worked himself too hard, his soul and drive too great for his body to handle.

"Alpha Sayun, are you okay?" An architek kicked down the door to the messy chamber and waded through the swamp of papers and scrap metal to the Architek Alpha who was now bent over his desk, face drowning in the diagram his hand still attempted to scribble out, "You really must know your limits Alpha Sayun."

Quickly reciting an abbreviated Litany of Renewed Power, the architek picked up his Alpha and used a handful of delicate tools to fix Sayun's bionic eye which clearly had overloaded and possibly even exploded, "Can you see out of this eye Alpha Sayun?"

"I... know my limits..." Sayun groaned and moaned as his body recalibrate with all of his implants, "My body... just can't... meet them... I'm going... to need... a new eye..."

"Acknowledge." the architek apathetically grunted as he grabbed one of several datapads off of Architek Alpha Sayun's table and began to tap his fingers on its holographic surface, requisition not only a new eye, but also food and drink for the tired Alpha, "You have more duties than to simply wait in here and wait for ideas, Alpha."

"Yes yes, I am well aware. Its just that I was so close too–" Architek Alpha Sayun suddenly went silent, his eyes widening as he probed and scanned his mind before it hit him and he let loose with a bellowing roar: He forgot all the data and information he had created when his systems shut dow, "NO! NO! DAMMIT ALL, NO! WHYWHYWHYWHYWHYWHY??! I WAS THIS CLOSE DAMMIT!"

"Please refrain from screaming at such decibels Alpha, you are going to scare everyone else into thinking you are having a meltdown and can possibly kill us all." the Architek's words were backed up by a pair of Tau heads that popped into the door frame along with two Apprentice Architeks and their servo-skull.

Architek Alpha Sayun just fell over on to his incomplete, useless notes and sighed heavily, almost at the brink of tears over his loss as some rations found there way beside him. He was so close, but so far. If only just even a single second longer and he would have arrived at some new conclusion. Was a single second so much to ask for for such a humble man trying to expand his horizons and advance innovation?

'Saint's Chariot', Personal battleship of Emperor Gregori Amastov, Present day

@TemplarKnight07@Hecticlord@Evil Snowman

Gregori listened as his generals discussed their strategy of diplomacy. Hopefully it would be true that the Forge moon was still under the control of the Adeptus Mechanicus and that they were open to negotiation. The idea of a small group of diplomats meeting to both assess the Forge Moons condition as well as possibly convince them to allow a further discussion of joining the Imperium Reborn was indeed a sound strategy. The talk of the Cannonness joining was worrisome, she could very well ruin any chance of a permanent relationship with the Forge Moon with her Zealotry. On that front he agreed with Lord Corbec.

"I agree with Lord Corbec. The Canoness Ishita is... to volatile for such a possibly delicate diplomatic situation. She shall remain in orbit with the fleet until we are certain she can cause no damage to our negotiations. The rest of the Diplomatic party seems... more than adequate."

The Emperor concluded with a nod of assurance. "If things do devolve into a war... we must avoid damaging the Forge Moon or it's Techpriests. They are a commodity we cannot afford to lose. Our current Mechanicus has but a hundred or so Priests, hardly enough to keep everything running, and they can only train more so quickly. Above all when we take the Priests prisoner they must be treated with utmost respect and civility, comfortable quarters and preferential treatment. I will not have Techpriests mistreated in any way. If possible they must become willing prisoners who we may release to work for and with us. Of course, this is all only if things devolve into a war, which I sincerely hope they will not. Well, Generals you may return to your ships, as the next strategy meeting will not be until we arrive in Orbit. If any of you have business to with me or other matters, feel free to remain here", he concluded decisively.

@thewizardguy

Gregori watched from beneath a mask of neutrality as K'vari arrived with his usual train of goods. More than a few were simply baubles and bribes in his many crates, but occasionally the Xeno would begrudgingly offer something of use to him. A weapon or personal object or Ecclesiastical relic. Perhaps he would receive something like that today along with stealth drives for his ships. As K'vari began his little rant Gregori purposefully spaced out to an extent, refusing to let the repugnant little thing butter him up. Despite the traders experience in trading far overshadowing the Emperor's own Gregori was not without advantages in these trades. First and foremost was the Aliens confidence. He had been swindling humans his entire life, with much success. Even the most careful of negotiators grow complacent and overconfident after enough victory, and K'vari had experienced much victory over humans in his life.

Gregori could almost not get over how... hideous the little creature was. Dog-like and haunting he looked not unlike the boogeymen of old bed time stories meant to scare children into obedience, the creature that hid under the bed and stole away foolish and naughty children. He watched the creases of his pug like face move and crack as he gestured about and attempted to hype up his super weapons. These 'Phase Reality fields' would surely prove invaluable, but Gregori had plan to not only ensure they would work but that he'd not be swindled for them. Speaking of price, Gregori raised an eybrow at the traders'.

"Ten percent of what Master Trader K'vari? You must be more specific, I will not blindly acceopt any price after all!", Gregori joked to the xeno as he waited for clarification on the price. "Ah, and what else have you brought before me today? I see your... servants heavy with goods."

Forge Moon Amatheus, Manufactorum Alpha I

@Marx

The Magos nodded as the Wolf Lord communicated that he as on approach. "+++Hurry Wolf Lord, I know not how long I can hold this breach.+++", even as he spoke the already damaged Kataphron servutors' chest exploded as a rocket slammed home into it. Blood, oil and metal sliced through the air, killing a fair number of nearby cultists. Xerxes shuddered at it as he cut down another squad, the other two Servitors had both their weapons blazing, Plasma culverin and phosphor blaster, Gravity Cannon and flamer tearing into the Hordes of Heretics. If the Wolves did not arrive soon, it may be they will arrive at a breach with no one to reinfiorce.

@agentmanatee@Hecticlord@Thecrash20

Inquisitor Alexius quietly drummed his fingers on the table as Gregori made his pronouncement. It was decided then, for now, and his presence was needed elsewhere. Thus, he politely stood up from his chair and spoke to the others in the room.

"Very well, your Imperial Majesty. That is all the business I have to discuss here for now, I'll prepare my forces and await the campaign and our next meeting."

He glanced over at Lord Corbec.

"I'll have the manifests and records of my fleet's forces sent your people in short order to utilize as you wish, Lord-Militant. My Inquisitors who remain in command positions shall assist your officers in the transition, and we shall be ever-present in our oversight, as is our purpose. Regardless, the Errant Cohort and its martial might shall pass to your command with plenty of time to fashion them to your liking before the campaign."

Bowing slightly in respect to Gregori and his Captain, Alexius briskly walked out of the chamber, his escort Stormtroopers stepping in behind him outside of the chamber and back through the vessel to his Cutter, which speedily took off towards The Wandering Chronos. Leaving Alexius to silently contemplate how to proceed next as a short communication over his vox unit informed him that Captain Lattore and Lady Ritske were awaiting his arrival, with Inquisitor Malodrax attending them, and Inquisitor Gerion awaiting to brief him on Ordo-related concerns which demanded his attention.

The Wandering Chronos, Ordo Receptacle, Present Day

@Wraithblade6

Inquisitor Varius Malodrax smiled tightly at the Captain's remarks and questions. Alexius was going to enjoy the good Captain, but then why else had his Master called for this audience?

His smile dropped to a more neutral state before he answered, glancing briefly at Lady Ritske, still smoking and still reclining before answering, his gaze fixing back on Captain Lattore.

"Frankly, Captain, your Chapter certainly would be the one for Master Alexius to choose should he desire such protection. Captain Tyros' force, by our reckoning, could hardly do it themselves in their current state, faithful in their service though they remain, but to each their own suitable task.

As to the matter of security . . . without stepping on my Master's, or fellow Ordo members' heels . . . it is more a matter of leaks, loose tongues, and even looser suspicions at the moment than actual physical threats, at least from what I know. An Astartes' presence could go towards solving a number of those problems, but also could run the risk of burying many of them to the point where investigation becomes impossible . . . such is the course of many choices we Inquisitors are forced to make. Personally, given what basics I know about the situation, the latter may not be much of a worry in this case, and think the assistance of Astartes would be invaluable, but it shall have to be Alexius' judgement."

Canoness Ishitta Thamus - Aboard the Redeemer of Worlds

@NecroKnight
Having prayed to point where her knees were sore. Ishitta felt content, to move on to the long list of things she needed to do while she waited for the embodiment to summon her. Ishitta always having something that needed her attention. Her aide by the door to the shrine waiting for Ishitta to finish her prayers. Know it wasn't worth his life to disrupt the Canoness. The middle-aged man went over the stack of documents his was carrying trying to organize them in a manner his mistress would deem worth her time.

As Ishitta left the shine her aide ambushed her listing of some of the things needed to do before the days end. Earning an annoyed sigh from the Canoness. As she marched to her office to look over her aide's documents. Which were mostly reports and requests by various department heads for permission for various personnel, extra resources or permission to do one thing or another. Ishitta's aide reading the requests out loud to her while she started to read over reports. Ishitta denying many of the requests that were read to her. Only her tech cult who wanted to use some rare material make some minor improvements the Redeemers ancient void shield generators. Ishitta allowing it hoping it would keep the machine worshiping nut cases out of her hair for some time. Ishitta having no love for the Cult Mechanicus. However, they were too useful. So Ishitta tolerated them and made and effort to keep them happy. Most of the time it was easy as giving them what they wanted or shoving an Inferno pistol in a few faces.

The reports were proving to be the normal mundane affair which Ishitta believed was good. To her, it meant everything was running smoothly and everyone aboard ship was at least content. She was about order her aide to finish going over the reports himself when one of her aide's underlings entered the room. Earning a glare from Ishitta. She really didn't like it when people didn't knock.
"Mistress! Sister Iona reports possible rebel factions in the lower ward are fighting in habitat sector alpha 2. Normally I wouldn't bother bringing this to you directly Mistress. However, the fighting is posing a threat to the convent-shine we've been working on establishing. Sister Iona is concerned with her current numbers she will be unable to hold the Convent-shine should it come under fire. She is requesting reinforcement or direct intervention. Iona reports one group of rebels had already attempted to breach the convent-shine. But was successfully repelled. After that, we lost contact." Her aide's underling spoke with a bow hoping he'd not overstepped his bounds by barging into the Canoness's office.

The news made Ishitta frown and sigh. How dare some rebellious citizenry threaten her people. Ishitta starting to think of different methods on how to deal with this situation, without risking too much of her current forces. Aware the putting every sister she had on the ground would most likely end poorly and destroy what little good faith the order had been able to cultivate. However, she couldn't let some rebellious citizenry simply get away harming faithful servants to the god emperor and the embodiment. Not to mention an attack against the order directly was unacceptable. These who ever there people where they needed to learn that the Order wouldn't tolerate being attacked. They were traitors to the Emporer and Embodiment.

Get me the Astartes Captain Tyros. Tell him I demand ... no request to speak with him. At his earliest convenience. In the meantime, I want two squads of Celestian's ready to deploy. Ishitta spoke. It was annoying to deal with this so close to departing on a crusade. But she wanted to make sure her Sisters she left on Arexia would safe once the Redeemer had left the system. She needed to be sure. Hopefully, these rebels would weak of will and a quick assault with the aid of the Astartes and her most elite would prove to be an effective deterrent. At her command, Ishitta's aide nodded promptly left the room along with his underling. Leaving Ishitta on her own to go over reports and working out a quick and most likely brutal means of dealing with these treacherous citizens. For as far as she was concerned they no long had any rights. Aware that given these rebels had attacked her order the agreement the Embodiment signed gave her the right to deal with them as she saw fit. To Ishitta there was only one way to deal with traitors.

Several minutes later a transmission was sent from the Redeemer to the Black Flame.
"Captain Tyros Maxim your presence is requested by Canoness Ishitta Thamus, who wish to speak with you at your earliest convenience. The matter concerning a report of fighting in the lower wards. Near a sisterhood Covenant-Shine. Further details will be provided by the Canoness in person. Should find yourself unable to meet. Please inform me. Otherwise, the Canoness would like to see you soon."

Sister Superior Iona - Arexia Prime Hive Amastov Lower Wards Habitat Sector Alpha 2

The fighting had been going on for several hours. Iona unsure what exactly was going on. All she could hear was the sound of Lasguns ringing in the streets near the Convent-shrine. The sounds of fighting slowly drawing closer for the second time. The Sister Superior looking towards the sister under her command. Who guarding the already battered door. Sister Iona concerned a decent or dedicated attack on the Covent-shrine would overwhelm them. The Covent Shrine housed in a run down long abandoned church Iona and her squad had cleared out a few days prior.

"What are they PDF doing?" Iona muttered looking towards the door. She wanted to go out there and deal with the whoever was causing all of this herself. However, her orders were to protect the Convent-shrine and those within its walls. So that is what she would do. Until she was either dead or until the fighting in the streets had stopped.

'Saint's Chariot', Personal battleship of Emperor Gregori Amastov, Present day

@agentmanatee@TemplarKnight07@Thecrash20

As Gregori made his announcement Gabriel was glad that he had agreed to leave the Canoness in orbit. The Munitorum in general never had good relations with the cult Mechanicus and Gabriel doubted that had changed. Though as Gregori mentioned capturing Tech Priests alive Gabriel couldn't help but grimace a little. Tech Priests had a reputation for stubbornness and would not come easily if it came to blows. Nevertheless his would order his men to do the best that they could. When Inquisitor Alexius began addressing him Gabriel couldn't help but smile.

"I thank you Inquisitor for giving me command of your troops. I will use them to the best of my ability, though I hope I won't need them in the upcoming campaign" he said as he returned the bow to the Inquisitor.

Gabriel remained in the stayed in the chamber as the Inquisitors exited before turning to Gregori.

"My Emperor, I have a request regarding the stealth drive that the xeno, K'vari, demonstrated. While yes it is revolutionary and could change our void tactics, I do not trust him. I would ask that you ask him to allow further tests with the device before you think of purchasing it. I would not want to rely on a device that would only suddenly fail when we need it most."

His request made Gabriel bowed before leaving the chamber to board his shuttle down to the surface.

Imperial Guard Headquarter, Arexia Prime, Present day

Gabriel had been busy in the last couple of days as he had been drafting orders for the PDF, Imperial Guard, and the Inquisition troops under his command. Most of the orders had been to start preparing for the campaign, though a few consisted of orders telling what the men left behind would be doing. Namely, the continuation of the training of the next generation of guardsmen. Because of that he was a bit behind on reports of what were going on Arexia Prime. Though now that he was done he could start to go over the reports that had been put on his desk.

As Gabriel read through the reports on the Obsidian Crusade and what had happened to them, he couldn't help but sigh in exasperation. As got to the gang wars that were occurring in the underhives right now Gabriel put down the dataslate and cursed. That situation was handled poorly to say the least. When Gabriel had first read the reports on the Obsidian Crusade he had hopes that he might be able to recruit them to the Imperial Guard to serve as a militia here on the capital. But that oppurtunity was gone now.

Gabriel sighed once more as he began to draft new orders for some of the units of the PDF who would be staying behind to garrison Arexia Prime. They were to march down into the underhive and subdue the gangs that were currently fighting. In the process though they would also begin the construction of aid stations down there and begin to provide better food, water, and medicine that the underhivers probably didn't have access to. These aid stations would also serve as recruiting stations for those that wished to leave the underhive by offering them places among either the Imperial Guard or PDF. They were also ordered to induct the gangs that surrendered into the Guard so that they might prove their loyalty to the Imperium.

As Gabriel finished drafting the orders and began issuing them to the appropriate units he couldn't help but sigh once more. He didn't want to do this, but unfortunately the Arbites were having trouble handling this and the gang wars could not be allowed to rage unchecked. Gabriel could only hope that this would perhaps improve the public's view of the Guard and he would see an upsurge of volunteers. He didn't want to have to rely on conscripts.

"Dear Sister. I shall arrive momentarily," replied Captain Tyros on his vox-channel at that. As he had his ship prepare to teleport him onto the ship of the Canoness.

His remaining tech-priest soon sent word, via the vox - to the manager to the Sororitas ship, Redeemer of Worlds to lower their void shields - so that Captain Tyros Maxim, could teleport onboard their vessel.

It was the fastest way to travel there and if rebellion was flaring beneeath the planet - then swift and decisive action was required post-haste.

Leal nodded his head in vague response to the Inquisitor, dropping his gaze. A gave shadow seemed to depress his previous alacrity as he was clearly having a disturbing thought. "Then there is naught left but to wait for the good Inquisitor." A simple statement, difficult to read for any inflection of annoyance or impatience, but the good captain seemed done talking.

Leal turned slightly and took solace in the paintings on the wall as he quietly considered his situation. The powersword at his side, even wrapped in seals and parchments seemed to shimmer intentionally for a moment. Leal clasped his hands behind his back, strangely feeling the need to speak again. "I always wonder what to do in moments like these, when precious time seems like a flood that can't be drained fast enough. At every moment, I am aware that our enemies in this universe are rapidly gaining ground on us. Planets are being lost, Inquisitor, faster than I dare to estimate, and our Imperium is still collapsing. Every moment is precious and a shame to waste.

I was made for battle, and there is simply nothing I would rather do than fight, for an eternity if I could. Yet, I know, that to waste my and my men's lives on a failing front would gain us only wretched time, not victory, which is what we ultimately need. More and more I begin to think that it is the little battles that mean the most, the ones that hold us together that will save us in the end. They are what we need right now. The gangs in the hiveworld, the Sister Sororitas, the forgemoon mechanicus, the Astartes, the Relictors, the rogue traders.... everyone. We must win the battles between ourselves. This is imperative for our return to the path of greatness which the Emperor had begun for us." Leal looked back at Varius again, his zeal seemingly returned. "When Inquisitor Alexius returns to this ship, there will be another victory."

Aide Leto - Aboard the Redeemer of Worlds

@NecroKnight

Upon receiving the transmission the Redeemer lowered it void shields allowing the Space Mariane Captain to teleport aboard. The Captain greeted by Ishitta's aide and a pair of young sister's who the moment Tyros materialized had their bolters trained on him. However, with single a gesture from Ishitta's aide, the sister's lowered their weapons slowly.
"Please forgive them my Lord. The order is distrust of all outsider at first. I am Leto aide to Canoness Ishitta TThamus, welcome aboard The Redeemer of Worlds. If you could be so kind as to follow me I'll take you to the Canoness. She'll be most pleased you have arrived so promptly." Leto spoke with a large bow. To show the Marine some of the respect he was due. The pair Sisters glaring at the Captain. Adjusting their respective grips on their bolters.

Ignoring the lack of respect from the two sisters Leto began the trek to Ishitta's office. Move quickly through the ships twisting corridors. Slowing a few seconds at a time to glance behind him to make sure that Captain Tyros had gotten lost. As they moved through the corridors every sister they passed looked at Tyros watching him closely as he passed some muttering the word outsider under their breath. While most none sisters gave Tyros a small bow provided they were not busy. Upon arrival Ishitta's office. Leto stopped before and gestured for the Captain enter.
"She awaits you inside my lord. Should you require anything please do not hesitate to call for me. I'm right across the corridor." Leto stated quickly before scurrying off into a room directly opposite Ishitta's office. Leaving the Astartes to enter at his own leisure. The sisters that had been with Leto when Tyros had arrived remaining with him following him in when he decided to enter the room.

"Thank you, aide," he replied, giving a slight nod to the servant - as he soon got lead to the meeting room of the Adeptus Sororitas. They seemed to be like the young youth, he had remembred them be centuries ago. All fire, fury and anger bottled up into a single purpose.

He rolled his eyes underneath the helmet, for all their fervor - they were still in an ironic way, human and with human weaknesses. The fact of the matter was, the Sisters whom were sent to 'guard' or 'follow' him were simply wasting their time. He could easily eliminate all of them, without drawing his weapon and before they could draw their own.

Somewhat, humorous was their attempt at trying to make him feel uneasy - he had been longer, than their new order had existed and had likely seen horrors to fracture their minds seven times over at that. But he soon banished those personal thoughts, before he pushed open the doors the Canoness' office and walked inside.
