FIRE EMBLEM: ABYSS
The Abyss, a seperate dimension from our current one, is slowly consuming our dimension for unknown reasons. Entire cities are being overtaken by strange beings seemingly acting as a vanguard for the spreading darkness. Two kingdoms in the south, Solvnir and Rjaskav, have already fallen to the Abyss over the course of a few weeks. Thankfully, the sea has slowed the spread as the water seems to be resistant to its influence. It could be weeks or months before the Abyss reaches the nearest landmass and continues its conquest.
Refugees from the destroyed kingdoms flooded New Capita, though even after experiencing the Abyss, they were unable to glean any information substantial enough to explain what was truly going on. The general consensus was that some strange force was set on conquering everything. The strange beings could be killed, but it wasn't as though it mattered. Their numbers seemed infinite, their strategy simply being a system of overwhelming everything they come across.
New Capita
New Capita is the specific island where our story takes place. It is a rather new location, only several hundred years old. It was discovered by voyagers who wished to travel the world, and decided to travel to places that had yet been mapped by current geographers and adventures. This group of travelers traveled by sea for weeks, nearly dying from lack of resources and horrid weather, before discovering and naming New Capita. When the found land upon their new home they discovered it was a rich and bountiful land still untouched by mankind. Its trees were bountiful, the wildlife plentiful, and it seemed as if disease had yet to find its way to this beautiful land.
The small group of seven spent the next few years mapping the layout of the Island, and recording the type of wildlife this place contained. But when they were done the group became torn. Half of the group wanted to leave and bring back others from their previous kingdom, to become heroes in their peoples' eyes and possibly royalty. But three out of the four wished ot stay, not wanting to bring others here. It was an amazing place in their minds, and they felt like bringing people from their old society would only corrupt the land. So the group split, the three staying deciding to settle in the south of the Island and prepared for the arrival of more people.
It did not take long for the group of four to return, in great numbers.
The island was quickly inhabited, mainly in the north due to the unfriendly group of three in the south, and kingdoms were built ruled by the four families who discovered the Island. The group of three in the south slowly let others join them who felt out of place in the north, and small settlements were built. And as more and more people arrived, people began settling in the surrounding islands around New Capita, far enough to be seperated by water but close enough to travel to and from island to island within a days time.
Islands
1: New Capita Island = kingdoms in New Capita - Mokata Kingdom of the north, Silvedon of the south
New Capita has a Skyrim-Esque layout, meaning lots of open spaces with moutains and caves with bountiful wildlife both friendly and dangerous. There are also small settlements and farms, with one gigantic city used as the capital for New Capita, right in the center of island. The north of the island is considerably more tamed than the south.
2. Santorini Island = Kingdoms in Santorini - Molto Kingdom
Santorini has been praised as one of the best vacation islands in the world. Well known for having the most relaxing hot springs and the most soothing music, people travel all over the world to have a chance to live in this paradise for even a short while. It is also known that there is an almost zero rate of crime on the island, and there is no military.
3. Airi Island = An island without any governing bodies. The closes thing is a few small camps generally composed of criminals and runaways. The dense forests make it the perfect refuge for such people. Unfortunately, without any type of centralized system, any type of warning of the Abyss would never be able to reach all of the inhabitants.
4.Irinoth Island = On the island furthest to the south the kingdoms of Solvnir and Rjaskav were always in a constant deadlock. While their war was more of a friendly competition than anything else, it did always keep its warriors sharp. Of course, even this was not enough to keep the Abyss from consuming the island.
