Lovely work, all! I am just not graphically talented in the least, so I am impressed by any and all iterations.

As to living situations, I think it's valid to say the player (or rather, the character's 'parents') choose where to live. For example, even if Mario's pizza place is wildly successful, his family might choose to live in the middle class section, just for funsies.

Max actually lives in the apartments at the north end of the map, which I see as just slightly above LI housing. It is a single parent household, after all, with three children. I'd say the only reason they aren't in the LI housing is because Max's mother, a nurse, regularly works double shifts, and half of Max's paycheck at the gym (which I'll say is near the mall, which will give her that reason to be at the mall, tada!) goes toward groceries and the like.

Also, since Jason, Max, and maybe one or two other characters (?) don't have cars, maybe we ought to discuss public transit?

It's a small town, I don't think there would be public transit. I think people either work in town, and walk/bike, or else work out of town and drive.

Jason appears to be the odd man out with the Mazda, and Iikka has thus far either walked everywhere or mooched rides off of other people. And, since all of our characters can be expected to gain some bird morphs eventually, travel across long distances shouldn't be too big an issue.

That is a HUGE construction site. The original was like, the start of a new neighborhood or something. That's like half of Main Street.

I was just trying to make it so that the short cut would actually shave off a significant amount of time for our characters getting home. The only problem now is how would it be a shortcut for Max, because in all the maps in this thread, we would be taking the long way around for getting to Max's house (we would even have to backtrack to get to her house in the first one map).

For the most part, unless the players whose characters live in any of the subdivisions take issue with them. The main difference is that the high school is the one farthest north.
