Humanity is constantly driven by desire—the desire for fame and wealth, the desire for adventure and the unknown, the desire for knowledge and enlightenment. A path exists for those who seek the means of attaining their desire heedless of the danger that lies ahead. That path is to become a Hunter!

Hunters enjoy countless free amenities and services, they have access to exclusive information and can enter many restricted areas. However, becoming a Hunter is not easy. You eventually arrive at the city of Avent at the edge of the Burial Sands where the Hunter Exam is said to be held this year. Millions of people seek out this deadly exam each year, but only a handful ever pass. It is here where your journey will finally begin.

This roleplay takes place in a different, but thematically similar universe to the source material. Although the ancients called this world the Little Garden, the world is anything but small and countless exotic locales have yet to be explored.

Civilisation has come a long way and overcome many cataclysmic events throughout its rich history. Compared to our world, the Little Garden is less densely populated. Even so, technology has managed to reach modern day levels in urban areas, while countless colorful traditional lifestyles still persist in the countryside. Society is advanced in most places, but dictatorships, monarchies, and theocracies still exist.

The most prominent feature of this world is its fantastical assortment of flora and fauna, a great number of which are as deadly as they are beautiful. Many lands are inhabited only by indigenous tribes due the danger of the natural environment. Beyond these dangerous lands, there also exist Extremity Zones that are forbidden for anyone to even approach for fear of rousing the beasts that sleep within.

Collaborative world building is a big part of this roleplay. Once I have verified you on Discord, you will be given access to a Google Doc which you can add entries to flesh out this world.

Alright, so first IC post is up.

So what has happened thus far, before the present time, is that your character has already passed all the tests of the people who appear before the Hunter Exam even starts. Then your character also passed the test of the Navigator, a person hired by the Hunter Association who actually knows the exam location and can point you to it. If you remember, only like 500 people make it to the actual Exam site, this is because of these pre-exams.

If you passed your Navigator's test with flying colors, they will have given you a VIP card to the Hotel's 101st floor which is where the true Exam will start. Each Navigator only has 1 card, so they have to give it out wisely.

You may make up the tests that you faced before the Hunter Exam or just be vague about it and pretend your character faced some great trials.

Now, as for making it up to the 101st floor. You can sneak up there, but there'll be guards with swords and guns. You can buy your way up there with the equivalent of 1 million USD. You can also just say your Navigator gave you the card.

Ink-Warrior of Xirriasca

Name: Túlio

Race: Human

Age: Twenty-Six

Sex: Male

Personality: Clashing of culture doesn't shy Túlio, though a person wouldn't use the words 'social butterfly' to describe him. Strong-willed, honest, blunt, prideful, courageous, and stoic are better words to explain the man. On the other hand, he's stubborn concerning beliefs and morals. Displays habits of placing self at wrong place, or situation, at wrong times. Proclaims he's "treading the 'path of life', while aiding the lost and breaking the twisted." Overall protective over others, especially allies.

Living in a jungle, where desire for survival can be constant. Túlio subsequently possesses a natural skill for quick thinking and even faster actions. In fact, sometimes muscle memory takes hold and forces self to act before considering the consequences. Sadly enough if Túlio endures enough trauma. Especially if the man is risking imprisonment. Túlio can 'snap' and mentally revert to what he refers to 'the primal state'. Regard for life, friend or foe, becomes obscured. Ability to associate consequences to actions lessens even more so than normal.

• Strengths: Navigation and sense of direction. Pride and courage.
• Flaws: Stubborn, arrogance, and minor greed.
• Motivation to become a Hunter: "the most invigorating traveling companions to walk with" and "the most fearsome or dangerous foes the Xirriasca tribe has encountered" are Hunters. Thus, there was nothing else Túlio wished to be...
• Morals: "Protect & guide the weak/lost." and "Violators of peace must be maintained or eliminated/Balance of life must be kept."

Biography: Mankind stands at the bottom of the totem poll within the Vryfunt Jungle. Traversing the territory is nigh impossible without a guide. Few tribes, or civilizations, of humans/sentient beings exist within the jungle. Lists of rare ingredients and valuables are obtainable from the jungles. Lack of law and civilizations creates a sort of 'safe-haven' for criminals. However, outsiders and even natives to the Vryfunt jungle typically do not last long. Simply due to the one code of life the jungle lives by; Survival of the fittest.

Túlio grew-up among the Xirriasca-Tribe, luckily their civilization was the kindest towards outsiders. Key term, was. Childhood for Túlio involved learning the ways of the jungle and life. Two other jobs were honed as well. Successfully working as a guide for trespassers as low as age nine. Then around twelve began training in "exterminating trespassers which violate their privilege to stay within the jungle". Sadly Túlio hardly escaped his homeland at the age of 17. Leaders of the Xirriasca Tribe exiled Túlio for killing a powerful member of their culture. Yet Túlio was framed by a Hunter, which Túlio had served as a guide several times during his life.

Aiding many hunters during times of being a guide of Vryfunt Jungle. Túlio received a visitor of his past while wandering the newly found world he'd been thrown into. The hunter, obviously, took high interest in Túlio and decided to; "repay Túlio for the times in Vryfunt Jungle". This repayment was done by giving Túlio connections and faintly mentoring the boy.

Abilities:

• Vryfunt Jungle Survivor/[ex]Tribesman: Ordinary wilderness survival skills are second nature. Extensive information on how to handle the flora and fauna of the Vryfunt Jungle exists. Knowledgeable of the languages, traveled paths, or territories, of all the tribes. Cultures, traps and other topics concerning the Vryfunt Tribes are also known by Túlio.
• Physical Status: Climbing trees and rocks. Evading and attacking wildlife. Sprinting miles to reach different resources or destinations. Training under fellow tribesman, as well as several (yet brief times) hunters. All of these things result in Túlio possessing Agility, strength, endurance, and reflexes of impressive levels.
• Herbalism/Poisons: Dealing with ingredients, which outsiders of the Vryfrunt jungle can consider 'rare', ever since Túlio was a child. Currently Túlio possesses considerable skill with making salves or other concoctions with herbs and other ingredients.
• Xirriasca Ink-Warrior: Select members of the Xirriasca are entrusted with the title of 'Ink-Warrior'. These individuals are responsible for quelling dangers of outsiders who've overstayed their welcome. More importantly, these Ink-Warriors are known for marking the trails which fellow tribesman should follow throughout the seasons. Typically natural disasters, hostile animal migration, and enemy tribes/outsiders are factors which prevent usage of paths. Name suggests, these warriors carry massive jars or pouches of ink and use brushes or other utensils to leave their marks. Honoring the Xirriasca people, Túlio continues to utilize the style taught to him.
• Foreign Fighting-Styles: Time spent outside his homeland jungles and culture has enabled Túlio to not only improve, but incorporate new fighting techniques/styles into, his original fighting methods/style.

Miscellaneous: Four jars of paint/ink dangle from Túlio. One of black, red, yellow, and blue color. Red-Ink, rarely used, typically contains a form of poison. (Hallucinogen, or paralysis/slowing status effect.)

My reaction to browsing through casual roleplays on the site, seeing as Hunter x Hunter RP that looks really good was a sharp gasp, I really didn't expect to be so excited. but I do adore Hunter x Hunter, so I guess it makes sense. Guiles Marmor

Name: Guiles Marmor

Race: Human

Age: 24

Sex: Male

Personality: Partially due to his upbringing, Guiles is an incredibly hard worker, give him a task, and he'll get it done as efficiently as he can without a single complaint, of course, that isn't too impressive, as Guiles hardly ever complains. Guiles is incredibly cheerful, and sociable, he tries to make friends with everyone he meets, but he does understand that people need boundaries, and thus won't get overly friendly with people who are uncomfortable around him. His voice is loud, cheerful, and full of warmth, and he speaks with a familiarity that signifies closeness, even to strangers.

However, he's also incredibly naive, to anything subtle, how to act in most scenarios, and especially technology. Guiles doesn't know how to operate a phone, and looks at cars as if they are foreign technology from another realm. He's terrified of riding in trains, as they go far too fast for his liking, and that stresses him out, a lot. And while he is a friendly, dumb nice guy, he isn't immune to negative emotions, he can get sad like most people, but most of the time his sorrow turns into anger, and he can act really nasty when he gets angry, not like, getting really violent angry, well, he sometimes does that too, but mostly, he just starts laying into people, like how his Ma used to give him a stern talking-to, when he misbehaved, and as he is, like previously stated, very naive, he thinks that this is how people normally react when angry. Despite being a giant of a man with plenty of physical strength, he's a very nervous person, often worrying over unimportant stuff, like if strangers will judge him for messing up. He can also be totally blind to how people are feeling, especially if they are attempting to push all of their emotions down, or hide them. And can accidentally say insensitive things, of course he doesn't mean to, but it happens regardless. He sometimes struggles to communicate properly, not finding the right words to say, or phrasing it all wrong, and coming off as an ass when he had no intention of being one, and on top of that, he's very blunt, which is both a strength, and a flaw. His self esteem is surprisingly low, despite being a big friendly dumb teddy-bear of a person, he's incredibly hard on himself, with himself being the only person he seems not to respect. His black and white point of view on the world can be dangerous. As he fails to see grey moralities, if something is good, then he should protect it, if something is bad, then he should beat it down. He also has a very short temper.

Guiles is almost entirely driven by wanderlust, and self-improvement. He wants to travel, and to experience everything there is to experience in the world, good and bad. Well, he's okay with skipping the bad stuff. But of course, without being a hunter, there are many, many places that are restricted, and that Guiles will have no way of exploring until he becomes one. He is self-aware about how naive he is, and believes that by becoming a hunter, and exploring the world, he can understand people better, and become a wiser person in the process.

His morality is about as simple as it gets. If someone's in a bind, he'll try and help out. If that person happens to be a homeless person who has no way to repay him? Oh well, he intends to travel around the world anyway, he doesn't need connections. So Guiles tries to be as helpful as possible, and refuses to impose on the kindness of others. He'd rather sleep in the middle of a park than ask an innkeeper he helped out for a room. However, his morality concerning those who he considers to be going down the wrong path is surprisingly brutal. He doesn't view them in the same kind light he views everyone else, he'll try and take down and destroy everything he deems evil to the point where others could even consider him crazed. A good example of how scary having a simple worldview can be.

Biography: Guiles was born to a small family, who lived miles away from the nearest village, in a shack, right in the middle of a massive field, that seems to go on forever. Guiles' parents were kind and simple folk. His father was a massive man, he had a large, scraggly brown beard, scars on his face, and a missing arm. He looked ready to snap a man in half if they so much as sneezed, but in actuality, he was a jolly old man, who just happened to have a very angry looking face, and some imposing scars from his time adventuring. Guiles' mother was a small woman with long blonde hair, and a soft gaze. But she was incredibly stern, if Guiles messed up, she'd chew him out so bad he wouldn't ever make the same mistake twice. His father had started planting trees in the field when he was much younger, and now, had his own tiny forest around the house. Which was great, as he worked as a lumberjack. Chopping down trees, and delivering them to the town for the construction and expansion of the town.

Guiles had a very simple life for most of his childhood. He played with his family in the fields, and always begged them to take him with them when they made trips to the town. He didn't have many friends, as he lived so far away from civilization, but he was friendly to everyone he met. Sometimes, he'd help his father with chopping wood, but was of course, no actual help. Because he was just a kid. But he felt like he was helping, and it made him feel great. His dad was like, the strongest guy he knew, but he was old, and only had one arm. So if he could help him out, he'd be doing a good thing. That was how his thought process worked. Every night before bed, he'd ask his dad to tell him a story. And his dad always had a new story to tell. Of his adventures before he met his wife. Guiles' father used to travel with a group of people who protected endangered species from poachers. The man who formed the group being a hunter, and the only one among the group who was legally allowed to do most of what they did. Guiles' father traveled with them for five years, before settling down here, and making his family. So every night, he'd tell Guiles another story about one of his adventures. Guiles, being a child who had only experienced life as a simple lumberjack's kid, was blown away by these stories, and quickly gained an intense fascination towards Hunters, and the rest of the world, that seemed almost magical to him.

After managing to gather up enough courage, he asked his dad how to become a hunter, and his father smiled larger than Guiles had ever seen. He had been hoping Guiles would ask that, and explained that once every year, there was an exam. This exam tested everything from physical power, to fast thinking, and that only the best of the best passed, and became hunters. Guiles quickly decided that he would definitely take pass this exam some day, much to his father's amusement. From that day forth, Guiles went to work with his father, learning how to chop down trees, carry the lumber, and deliver it to town properly. It was hard labor, of course Guiles wasn't expected to drag trees around and chop them with one blow, but his father didn't give him any slack either. Day after day passed, and Guiles got better, little by little, until eventually, he was chopping down the trees himself, and carrying the entire thing into town over one shoulder. It was at this point that his father, now much older, but still capable of carrying a tree with one arm, sat him down, and explained how he lost his arm. He was on another job with his friends, going after a group of poachers hunting an endangered species called the Hunchback Roo, which his father then stopped to explain that hunchback roos were purple kangaroo like creatures, but were far bigger, and had, like the name implied, hunchbacks, but their backs were harder than steel. After getting back on track, his father explained that the poachers responded far more aggressively than usual, and attacked him and his friends. During the fight, the leader of the group was attacked while his back was turned, and Guiles' father got in the way of the attack, costing him his arm. Guiles, confused by this story, asked why his father had told him. His father responded that it was a warning, that despite all of the amazing things he had seen traveling with a hunter, it was also an incredibly dangerous job. And he wanted Guiles to be prepared. When his 24th birthday came around, he was given an old camera, and a ticket for a bullet train that was taking those who wanted to go to the hunter exam to the town that was holding it this year. So Guiles, after crying and hugging his parents for so long he nearly missed the train, set off to finally see the world.

Abilities And Talents:
Physical Capabilities Far and away Guiles' most impressive talent, is his physical abilities, he's strong enough to fell a massive tree in one to two blows from his trusty hatchet, and then carry that tree for miles to the nearest town to sell the lumber. While his endurance is enough to run those several miles without running out of breath. His agility is likely his worst aspect when it comes to physical capabilities, but he is still far too agile for someone his size.
Craftsmanship Being surrounded by trees and lumber, many times when Guiles was bored, he would try and carve something from the wood to pass time, and while he started off as terrible as can be, he slowly became surprisingly capable, not a master-class artist or anything, but far better than he originally thought possible. What is really impressive, is how quick he's able to carve things.
Foraging Knowledge What Guiles lacks in the general intelligence department, he makes up for in his talent for surviving off the land, which is a skill he'd have to pick up living so far from civilization, he knows which plants are poisonous, and which are safe to eat. He knows how to start fires, find his way home using the stars, and how to hunt wildlife. He tries to avoid hunting, though. Because he always cries when he kills the animals. A side-effect from his foraging knowledge, is that he's very aware of his surroundings.
Self-Defense While never officially trained, Guiles knows how to defend himself. The fields were home to some predators brave enough to snack on humans, so Guiles was taught how to use his felling axe to fight. Any capable fighter could see several holes in his fighting style, but it doesn't really matter when someone with immense physical strength is swinging an axe at you really fast. He can fight with his bare hands too, but he isn't talented, just using his size and physical strength to fight.
Adept Lumberjack As Guiles spent most of his life as one, it's no wonder he became rather talented at it. He knows how to fell a tree so it will fall just where he wants it to, he knows how to operate a sawmill, and he knows how to be a good Whistle Punk, (Safety Lookout) and a good High-Climber (They climb up the trees, and chop off the branches.)

]Miscellaneous: Guiles is incredibly scared of trains after his trip on the bullet train, which went so fast Guiles had to force himself not to scream the entire way there. Guiles loves to sing, country songs mostly, but is also a terrible singer. Guiles cried when he accidentally tore a teddy-bear his mom got him..for his 16th birthday. Guiles has rations, a felling axe, and caulks (spiked boots that lumberjacks tended to wear) along with an old camera, and climbing spikes on his person, and in his backpack. Guiles was meant to be a play on Guileless, while also actually sounding like a name someone could have. I don't have a theme song in mind for him, but it's probably something overly cheerful, and very country.

Hopefully it's not trash. I tend not to be too self-aware with my own characters. But I'm fairly proud of this one.

Lily Natche

Name: Lily Natche

Race: Human

Age: 16

Sex: Female

Appearance:

Lily possesses light purple eyes, with a very dark brown to her hair that is on the borderline of being black. She is about 5'2 with around 90 pounds of body weight, making her exceptionally petite. On her body, there is little to no visual muscle, but her body is extremely toned despite being so petite. She doesn't wear make up and her hair, despite being naturally straight, is unkempt. Considering all these factors, Lily is notably attractive.

Personality: Lily is an extremely unique individual. She possesses a presence to her that seems as if she is much wiser than her years and her appearance would lead you to believe. And partially, this is true. She possesses the wisdom in combat that you'd expect a 3 star hunter or a grizzled veteran to possess. Her decision making at crucial moments is unparalleled and her ability to maintain her composure as everything around her falls apart is unrivalled.

On top of this, Lily seems to have a continuously callous emotional state, which to onlookers seemingly looks as if she has an inability to feel emotion. To onlookers, she never appears to be happy, sad, humoured or angry, rather in a constant state of thought as if she was away on another planet or deep within her own universe. This doesn't mean she is a sociopath, or incapable of feeling emotion, rather that she is exceptionally bad at expressing it and as a result, does not seem to let out any emotion, whether positive or negative unless she finds herself talking to a person that really clicks with her. This leads to people believing that Lily is a lot stronger mentally than she truly is, and as a result, makes people think she is somebody to be relied on. Despite this, if Lilies temper was ever to be evoked, it's safe to say that the fight wouldn't go well for the one that she'd be against.

Lily is quite slow to pick up jokes about herself, mostly due to a lack of caring and she always finds herself entering situations without much thought, leaving her vulnerable to planning and other such events. Due to this, she often burns many bridges that would end up being helpful to her later due to her lack of awareness. On top of this, Lily is not very talented at conversation. Her answers are blunt and to the point, and lack any depth or meaning to them despite the message that she's trying to portray, and she has no real interest in prying information out of other people, making her terrible at work that requires her to talk or listen. Despite this, her level of self awareness is astounding.

Lilies motivation to become a hunter came from curiosity. She saw that hunters are some of the most gifted people on the planet and she wondered if she made the cut. She wanted to find out whether she was in that top percentile of people on the planet, or whether she was another lemming without any inherent value.

Lilies morals are based off pure Darwinism. Having been brought up in a dog eat dog environment, she sees the natural order of things as the way that the world should go, with those who are independent and able to think for themselves at the forefront, and those who are too weak to follow in the footsteps as those who should either die or find a way to become stronger. She is not inherently cruel or heartless but in her mind, this philosophy is true for the world and cannot be changed by tears.

Biography:

Lilies life has been pretty interesting. She was born at the cost of her mothers life due to a poorly executed childbirth and living in a rural region, and as a result, earned the resent of her father. Due to the death of his wife, he also committed suicide and as a result, Lily never grew up with a parental figure. She was passed from family member to family member up until the point where she was put up for adoption within the village that she lived.

She ended up being brought up into the village dojo, which had practiced the same martial art style for generations upon generations. For a frail, sickly girl like Lily, it was amazing that she was even brought into the fold. From the moment she was brought in, ever day since she could walk she was taught to fight. What surprised those at the dojo was not the amount of strength she somehow packed into the tiny body she possessed, but rather the sheer determination she displayed as a disciple.

Her training continued throughout the years, following an extremely tense regimen once she hit the age of 10. Training that would break a normal human adult was brushed aside and muscled through by a girl that weighed next to nothing. Lily ended up breaking every limit that was set in front of her and more, consistently proving those who doubted her wrong in their assumptions.

Before Lilies training had been completed, there was some concerns on who was going to be the next master of the dojo. Many of those within the Dojo supported the son of the current master, but it was clear that the majority saw Lily as the next prospect, as she had the most potential in their eyes and was currently the most powerful disciple. As a result, it was difficult for the dojo to allow her to leave but deciding that Lily was loyal to the dojo and would likely come back, that it wasn't a worry that she'd abandon the place that raised her and as a result, they allowed her to explore the world.

Around the age of 14 was when Lily finished her training From that point, she did not know what she wanted to pursue. In essence, the Dojo had dumped an incredibly strong toddler onto the plains of the world, and from this, strange things ensued. Lily had little to no idea of social customs outside of those taught within her martial arts classes and the village she was in, she knew nothing about technology or food outside of cattle. Lily fondly remembers her first encounter with sweets when she made her first purchase at the supermarket. From that point onwards, she became enfatuated with the world around her.

Every single thing that Lily did from that point onwards filled her with joy. Drinking a cup of hot chocolate, watching television, playing video games. What might seem like mundane tasks to those who have experienced it, were the equivalent of skydiving or bungee jumping every day for the girl who had not experienced modern life.

Around the age of 15, Lily ended up encountering a blast from the past when she discovered that people viewed fighting as a sport. Overjoyed, Lily decided to enlist in every fighting tournament she could find, but she was disappointed time and time again. None were strong enough to match her one on one, and this filled her with a sense of being. This was when Lily believed herself to be evolved beyond everybody else.

On her sixteenth birthday, Lily found out about the hunter exam after extensive research into a challenge that could test her theory. Figuring that if she passed it, she'd prove to herself that she was something special rather than another number, she decided to try the hunters examination, and see if she could find anone else who she would consider evolved.

Abilities:
Insane Physical Strength and Agility: Lily is an incredibly petite, small person. Despite this, she possesses the strength you'd expect to come from a behemoth or an ogre. On top of this, she's extremely fast. This is likely due to the lack of weight that she has to carry when using her strength meaning that the momentum takes her further simply from the amount of strength that she possesses. She obtained this strength through training similar to that at the Zoldyck residence. Despite this, she has very little endurance and her stamina is much lower than somebody who would normally have this strength. This power base is stronger in her legs than in her arms.

Non-threatening: Due to Lilies small figure, many people vastly underestimate her physical potential and as a result are quite surprised when they find out her actual level of strength. This gives her an edge in combat as often times she is brushed off as a little girl.

Martial Artist: Lily trained herself in a martial art similar to that of Muay Thai. Due to this in combination with her strength, it makes Lily a fearsome duellist and opponent.

Miscellaneous: Lily constantly appears as if she was insanely tired, with massive amounts of bags underneath her eyes no matter how much sleep she gets. She's incredibly addicted to candies and sugar filled goods as well. She's also an incredibly talented musician when using a flute and piano. On top of this, she's a lucid dreamer and keeps a journal of what she experiences within her own dreams.
