I'll need to borrow those tweasers after you're done picking nits with them.
Not my fault you mentioned two titles from the PSX but actually were talking about a PSX game and a totally different DS game. That's not a nitpick. That's you saying a totally different game title.
Ah yes the gold standard of big website reviews.
Yes all final fantasy games get consistently high game ratings. Including 10-2 which has a higher meta-critic score than 13.
Yeah because 10-2 is a good game.
Also remember that Tales Series that you don't like? Tales of Symphonia scores equal or better than 13 on damn near every site you listed.
Does it, though?
IGN: 8.5
1UP: B+ compared to an A
GameInformer: 8.75
Famitsu: 34 compared to 39
Gamespot and Eurogamer are the two that rate it higher at 8.8 and 9 respectively.
But thing is: My not liking the Tales of series doesn't mean I think they are
objectively bad games yet somehow you think FF13 is when evidence points to the contrary.
I also think that 13-2 is an enjoyable game, and Famitsu loved it so much they gave it a perfect score.
They also gave 13 a 39/40 so it wasn't like it was a massive jump.
You know what else gets high marks on IGN and Gamespot? Assassins Creed games and FIFA. These sites put too much stock into 'presentation' and 'legacy' over any sort of serious critique and you know it.
Or, here's a thought, maybe the games are good? Game criticism and publications don't just kowtow to the highest bidder and the fact that people still think they do or that they don't count when they review a game highly in a franchise is bullshit, especially considering the point of reviews aren't the number at the end.
