@KoL I will have to take another look at my 5th edition Players handbook because I don't recall seeing them in there. I had a list that I used to use for feats that characters could learn every few levels. I'll try and look at it while I'm at work and get back to you. Typically, I do allow feats.

Name: Xavio Rosmund

Age: 22

Race: Human

Class: Battle Sorcerer

Appearance: Grey hair & eyes (with all the stress he got from the doll all those years what do you expect ;) 1.70cm tall and weighs at about 73kg. Athletic build, a very fast runner, if you would put him in race with a horse... OK the horse would win but you get my point. Bearded (unshaven for close to 3 weeks) which combined with his overall facial appearance gives him off as a much older person. Leather gloves extending to his elbow also metal plated in the forearm part and boots,

a hood and cloth to cover his face below the eyes. Has a severe case of automatonophobia (fear of life-like objects:dolls,puppets,scarecrows,moving toys etc), more specifically fear of Plushie-like things.

Biography: His first memory, probably the happiest(in the start anyway), was when he got his first stuffed toy, a Plushie... It became his best friend, they talked about everything, well Xavio talked the most while the Plushie only responded with phrases like :"Knife is dull", "what do you taste like" or, "give me the black unibow cornrain"!". Having someone to talk to was always a good thing although as soon as the parents came to check on him the "toy" just seemed to stop in its tracks and become lifeless always with that creepy smile in its face.

The more Xavio grew up the more he found the fact that the thing was alive and conversing with him, saying many random stuff while making creepy gestures accompanying what it was saying, creepy. At one point he tried to tell his parents what was happening but they just dissed it as a child's fantasy until the fated day when his mother just vanished and his father would always avoid talking about her, getting sad every time he heard her name being mentioned...

...after this traumatic experience Xavio learned that his father was a sorcerer and his mother a wizard, and like them, Xavio also showed potential in the field. Many years went by as Xavio was tutored by his father in the ways of magic, more specifically lightning. Now, after learning his fathers most adept spells, he was ready to create his own path in life and the first thing he intended to do was search for the whereabouts of his mother.

Off to a new beginning...

Skills: A master of running away from danger and flawless evasion abilities. Has high dexterity coming from a ring located in his wedding finger in the left hand. If all else fails, as his last defense method he uses the metal plated parts on his forearms to defends against attacks. The metal is also enchanted so it repairs itself from any damage after battle. His preferred magic is lightning although he still can perform other spells types from other schools of magic. Carries many pouches holding many different materials needed to perform his spells. Also carries a dagger, mostly for gathering and other basic needs.

So I haven't used/made a list of future homebrew spells and mostly stayed on the low end spectrum of how much power he has, normal human after all that starts from lvl 0. If others post something more powerful I may or may not be inclined to change somethings.

Whenever you have time, they are on page 165 of the Player's Handbook. They substitute Ability Score increases for other features, it's mostly flavor and minor bonuses, but as 3.5 player, I can't see D&D without feats.

But, I do own the 5th edition Player's Handbook so I can read up on rules and such.

5e is surprisingly similar to second edition. They brought back proficiencies and scrapped the skill system.

The biggest difference is eliminating most of the "save or die" spells so you can't spam the Balor with a host of Disintegrate spells off of scrolls and other cheap tricks.

@Warborn123 I was thinking of starting somewhere between level 2-4 because it seems silly that all of the adventurer's in this party would be level 1 (especially given certain back stories). You don't have to worry about your level as far as fighting goes too much since you won't be rolling for fight sequences but you will be rolling for things like persuasion or stealth checks. It will still be possible for your character to die in the RP just like any regular D&D campaign but I do leave it up to the other players if they want to complete a special side quest at that point to bring your character back from the dead. You can also choose to make a new character at that point if you prefer and re-integrate yourself into the story.

@KoL Thank you for the page number, I used to work from a list that had the same information but condensed it down to a single page for easy reference. I will be using that. I typically don't use it as an optional feats rule as the game is set up. I use a house rule of at certain levels you can acquire a new feat in addition to your normal leveling features. I will let the players decide if they would rather play the way it is set out in 5E rules or if they would rather use the house rules.

I'm not familiar with that aspect of D&D and the limited research I was able to do on google just now (I'm on lunch at work) I don't think I would be comfortable GMing something I don't fully understand. If I can get around to doing more research before the start of the RP I might change my mind.

Strangely, they didn't mind me playing Morrowind, though, probably because someone hadn't poisoned the well where it was concerned.

Beivan

Name: Beivan Beivollio

Age: 550 Years Old

Race: High Elf

Appearance:

Biography: Beivan was born before Humans owned Ulna Themar, to a Soldier and a Doctor, he loved his parents very much, life was good, Then the Humans attacked and laid siege to the city hoping to take it over for a reason beyond Beivan, His Father died defending the walls while his Mother died trying to save him, eventually the Human’s won and the head’s of his family and friend’s adorned the walls.

Then to make matter’s worst, his home was taken from him and given to a family of human immigrants, Beivan had nothing else to do but cry in a alley all day and night until his eventual death of starvation, Beivan swore that he would make the human race pay for their crimes in time, no matter how long it would take. Beivan was a patient man.

But one day a Monk named Elanan met him and offered him a home in return that Beivan served the monastery, Beivan agreed and joined the monks, who trained him in the arts of fighting and religion, His family was replaced by his god and his fellow Monks.

But Beivan wanted revenge, he wanted a city free of Humans and restored to it’s former glory, so he asked Elanan how he could do this, Elanan told him about the legendary lost artifact of Eteyar and if it is found, he will likely get his wish, So Beivan became obsessed with it and searched far and wide for it, Centuries passed and he grew older and older, he almost gave up until he found a map to where the artifact could be.

But the Journey would be deadly and he would likely die if he went alone, none of the other monks wanted to help him so he hired the adventurer’s to help him find it.

Personality: Beivan is very optimistic, he’s the kinda guy that jokes at a funeral, he also loves pretending to be old and senile in order to throw off his enemies, also because he believes it’s funny.

He is a very religious man, to him there is only two kinds of people in the world, people who worship his god, and fools.

He really hate’s humans, and he doesn’t see human’s as people, instead seeing them as a kind of animal that is below him, he isn’t racist towards any other race but he is biased towards elves, He likes to constantly act wise like Yoda from star wars, though oftenly he’s not trying to help people with his advice, he does it in order to keep up the image of a old fool.

He’s very pragmatic and sees the world in a very simple way, he see’s both good and evil as stupid as to him, Good only creates Evil and Evil only creates good, to him being neutral is the only “Sane” way to him, his alignment can be summed up as True Neutral
He has a pet cat named Hery who he absolutely loves beyond anything in the world
