The land of Aria is a magical place full of many myths and legends, some holding more truth than others. One such tale, being one children's tale of a group of heroes and a demon. Famerin(fa-meer-in) was said to be the demon that would bring the end. Five brave heroes, with the help of a powerful mage, crafted weapons with which they trapped Famerin in an eternal prison, bringing peace to the land for many years. That is what the tales say, there are varied versions, some holding more truth, but that is the most common. What people don't know, is that it's not some fairy tail. Famerin is a real demon, and the six heroes really trapped the demon in what was meant to be an eternal prison. But even the most intricate of prisons have flaws, the flaw in this one? Mankind. The prison was the grimoire of the mage, and was locked using the weapons of the other five as a sort of key, and only by gathering them was the lock supposed to be removed. Over time however, mankind stopped believing in magic, weakening it significantly, causing this lock to deterierate, though not enough to free the demon. The grimoire, found it's way onto an imperial trading vessel, which as luck would have it would come to be siezed by pirates.

Character sheet requirements:
Character sheets are going to be done just a little differently here. I'm not going to give you a template, because I want you to give me what you think is important. While making your sheet, do keep in mind you'll be known by everyone on the ship already, be it only for a week, or for however long you've been on the ship, so if people would know something about you, it's probably important and should be mentioned.

Can you make a 'non-human'? I'm going to say, if you can sell me the idea. Don't however get upset if you craft this idea for a non-human, and I ask you to make a human instead. Aria has it's supernatural stuff, but it's not common enough for every member of the ship to be such, so I'll be limiting it by both number and creativity.

@Neo Is Delight Can you see if anything needed to change? Thanks

Issue one: The image. I prefer you use anime/artistic, not real.
Issue two: This one isn't too big of a deal, but grammar. I get a mistake here and there, but you have a bunch.
Issue three: I ask you to describe what exactly a lamellar and gambeson is, not everyone knows, and of those who don't, very few would be willing to google it as I did, so it's necessary for people to know what they are if your character wears them often.
Issue four: Did you not want your character to obtain a relic down the line? You'll remember in the int check I said you would be decided what sort of artifact your character obtains later, and as such, that is necessary in the character sheet.

Please don't be concerned that I addressed these as 'issues', they aren't too severe, and I really do love your character concept. I would just ask you to at least consider these things mentioned. ^.^

I have a continuity question about your character. If he doesn't like to be around people. Prefers to spend time to himself. Why did he chose to join a pirate ship on a boat full of people?

Because of freedom, and gold of course. Freedom to kill and experiment, and to be rich.

Seriously? That is the most shallow motivation I have ever heard. Ruby gives you the opportunity to add your own character's lore into the world. And you manage a doctor who experiments on people and wants freedom to kill people. Meanwhile, discussing with her on discord in about a day I worked on some God Lores, some extra demon lores, some secret plot stuff. And you manage that? When a GM is giving you an opportunity to write your own story and your own sheet.

Okay.
Take this with a grain of salt please.
First, I'd like to thank you for listening to my concerns.

But, like Angel said. I did things the way I did so you could add to the world. I'm not one of those GMs that likes to be like "This how things are, you have to mold your character in this way." I like the world to mold around the characters.

If your character is 'famous' for being 'The bloody surgeon' then I find it hard to believe nothing is known about his past. Not to mention, he wouldn't have just shown up mysteriously on the ship the day we start the roleplay, and be trusted enough to be given one of these powerful weapons. I would say expand on his history, but you didn't even give us one. I get maybe he wants to keep some stuff unknown, but share with us some of his 'bloody surgeon' days. Share with us his history on the ship. How many people has he killed on the ship? Has he saved any of the crew members lives with his doctoring skills? Stuff like that. Doesn't have to be anything too personal. But stuff people would know.

And about your relic. It needs more info. Honestly, I love the concept, and it actually fit's into the stories about the original heroes, one of them being an alchemist. But, it needs more. What exactly does it do. What are it's applications. What are it's limits. What does it's curse do. And if the pain side of things is supposed to be the curse, the cursed can absolutely NOT become immune to it after any amount of time.

Well, give me a better reason then. Should I give him the goal to save everyone, to donate to poor people? No, because it is stupid. He is a pirate, no matter what. He kills and steals from the weak. That is what pirates are. NOT saving, taking. Agree that there are good pirates, but there is a reason for this to be tag as "18+" right? Plus, I don't see my character as a good person. The world is corrupted enough it wouldn't mind having another. And besides, he is a normal people, who will never know when he is going to die. So, tell me? What reason should I give for him? What honorable reason should I just for his action of killing and plundering? Just tell me. I'm open for it.

On a second note, I know you are a co-GM and you have power near the GM, but that is not the right thing to say others character as redundant. It is my work, my character creation. You could say he has errors, but it is not for you to tell it is shallow. I knew you could create a better character, and that is great. You are better than me, so I could learn something from your writing. But on my side, he is as good as I could create. So yeah, again, I'm open to constructive comment, but not decry. If you could @AngelofOctober

And you ask

Just flat out because he wants to kill. Of course, you could say than "why don't he lived on an isolated island or somewhere outside the reach of human civilization?" The answer is easy for me if you can't think of it yet because he wants to kill, simple as that. He could not control his urge to kill. And how many people would come to a place there are no town or cities had established? The answer is almost none. And I would think my character would die by the fifth month due to hydration and starvation even before meeting the crew.

So yeah, that is my reason. Just waiting for you to have any glorious goal suggestion for him for me to add on.

Well not every character has to be a pirate because their a murdering pile of shit either. My first character I am creating name is Kasper, he is a famed smuggler who helps the pirate swindle goods from one place to another. While his goals may seem basic, he's with the pirates because it's a business move. Kasper pays the pirates in information, while the pirates pay the pirates in valuable, who then swindle his good elsewhere and he slips off to the next country and the next ship to swing the next set of goods. Sure he's a criminal, but it's not because he just wants to murder people;

1) He doesn't want to get caught, a good idea to move with folks who know how to avoid authorities

2) Pirates find valuables Kasper might be able to trade for another lesser valuable good, but the pirates don't need to know that

3) Kasper can gain the pirates influence with his business

Kasper reason to being with the pirates is simple, it's easier to smuggle goods you're not supposed to on a ship of very deadly armed men. Then it is trying to sneak it onto an imperial ship and smuggle yourself without getting caught.

Whenever creating a character it's about asking yourself questions;

Why does he do this?

What makes them this way?

How did they get this way?

Do they enjoy it?

When the answer I get is "because he has urges to kill and wants to kill" I'm like O.o, but he's a doctor foremost. What if he had a daughter who died of genetic disease and he couldn't save her from the disease and so to run from his troubles he took on a job as a pirate to flee heartbreak? Or what if he owes the pirate captain something because he had the captain smuggle him rare medicines they couldn't get elsewhere and when the authorities found out he fled pledging his service to the captain?

I didn't mean to decry. But seriously play around with ideas. Experiment. The sky is the limit. Doctor Jekyl who wants to kill somebody is not doing anyone any favors.

@Neo Is Delight What is the timeline we are in? What is the ship name? And where are we at?

I'll answer these in order:

1. I'm not sure I understand the question. Time period is a mix of victorian/medieval. If you mean an actual date, I haven't gotten a date implemented yet, but I do have a base idea. Essentially, it's going to be days and years, no months. So instead of say, may 12, you'd say 'day 118'. For historical records it would be listed as 'year x, day y'. Time of rp will be updated when I finish fleshing out the system. o7

2. That is a darned good question, but is up to whoever makes the captain. :p

3. I'm afraid I don't understand this one, so if I fail to answer correctly, pester @AngelofOctober about it. Where will the rp be taking place? Aria, a fantasy world. Where will be starting? The ship of course.

If I didn't answer anything properly I apologize. My mind is elsewhere today. Any further questions today should be directed to Angel. o7

1 - I believe the date is more based on our own world we're creating

2 - I may be the one creating the captain so let me get back to you

3 - the Aria sea? I am not sure I understand the question either

You deceitful backstabbing wretch. Forming alliances before the RP begins are we?

On another note, can I be the captain?

+I think I discovered everything there is about the mystery on why they imprisoned the demon. The mage was in love with the demon but since he couldn't live forever and would die, he would rather imprison her than see her with another man. So that stingy cringy old fart hired 5 gullible stooges saying world end this apocalypse that to motivate them to imprison the innocent girl.

Make me the best damn captain. I always pictured him as not having a relict and putting him more a NPC. And a coward. But sure I can give you the captain.

And I known Neo for a year now. So alliances were formed long ago
