Major Galactic Events: Who knows that the shroud holds
Teaser
"Humans. These wretched and filthy creatures appeared in our galaxy 370 years ago and brought the end of an era. As soon as their ships appeared they began to colonize the empty planets and conquer those that already had owners. They were merciless and killed trillions in their galactic conquest. Some of us fought back of course, but every time it looked like they were on the run, more ships appeared out of the blue and slaughtered our forces. Even our galaxy's own large empires couldn't strike a deal with the humans, and ended up dying out after so many dynasties. In a last ditch attempt the small kingdoms of the galaxy united under the Free Planets Allinace to deter these invaders. They failed. Now we must praise the name of THEIR emperor, speak THEIR language, eat THEIR food, wear THEIR clothes and OBEY THEM. But we've had enough, and this time, they'll see what the many races of the Triangulum are capable of. Carry these seeds of rebellion and spread the word: We are not broken, but reforged! Glory to the Rebellion!"
BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT
Ahhh, Messier 33, better known as the Triangulum galaxy. Relatively close to the Milky Way, only a measely 2.7 million light years away, this galaxy may dwarf next to both Andromeda and our own galaxy, but it is the third largest spiral galaxy in our local group. And now, the humans rule over it with an iron fist, enslaving and controlling the alien species who live here. The Emporium of Man has appeared 370 years ago, and conquered every inch of the Triangulum in less than 30 years. For 300 years now, all of the alien species have been either subdued or exterminated, and most of the dead population has been replaced with humans. The majority of alien races live alongside other humans daily, and there are some who question whther this galaxy is theirs anymore, or one where the original inhabitants are the minority. Truth is that these quickly aging and even quicker breeding humans live meaningless lives trying to accomplish something, but they are only driving out the xenos from their homeworlds. It is rare to see places where there aren't any humans or where they are the minority. This large popolus gives enormous support and confidence to the Empire and they are not afraid to use the civilians against any rebel cells. A well spread propaganda can change the world. Truth is however, they are not the only ones in the galaxy that pull the strings. Two more nations exist, who still managed to survive against the empire for such a long time.
Mekhar Independance, a race that nobody knows a lot about, but are incredibly advanced in technology, and they survived against the Empire up until now. They arrived some 300 years before the humans, and they quitely settled those planets where no-one else could live, most notably a large interconnetced terriotry around the supermassive blackhole in the core. Ever since they have lived in relative silence and isolation, defending themselves against the Empire.
Kegran Trade Confederacy, a mutual trade partner of the Empire, the Kegran consider themselves a neutral party, and they are the head of most large scale transporting companies. They provide services to all the nations of the Empire, even trading with the Mekhar. They live in democracy which disgusts the Empire, but they know better than to mess with the people who have the money. The Kegran control a large region of the galaxy knonw as the Unknown Region, most ot their territory hidden from the Empire in a massive nebula that covers the galactic north-west region of the Triangulum.
Free Planets Alliance, an old empire that rose up against the humans some time after it became appearent that the small nations cannot compete against the might of the Empire. They controlled the galactic eastern part of the galaxy, the same region where the humans came from.
(thats all I can write now, but any question answers or new things will be updated here.)
Emporium of Man
The main antagonist of the RP, the bad guys who took away your land and then enslaved your people. They replaced your killed population with humans of their own, and now control most of your governements assets, and keep you, the leader, under a tight watch.
The Empire, as most call it, is very oppressive and it enforces its own rules. As such all recordings from before their time were destroyed. They now are trying to tell their own human population that the other species, your species, is nothing more than people they uplifted, or aliens who came to their land. Most of the humans beleive this, and look at the xenos with disgrace. They built large cities of metal and plastic that hide any signs of them not being the first ones to be there. They even built monuments that look like they have been there for quite a while. Obviously aliens from species that live for hundreds of years still remember the old times, but no one beleives them, and if they raise voice then they quickly disappear without a trace.
Every corner, every little opening is overseen by an EOM soldier. They are in every building and inspect every decision. They often randomly stop a xeno to harass them for their ID cards, or just to make fun of them. For the human populus they are the great guardians, the keepers of peace who keep the filthy aliens away. For us, xenos, they are the embodiment of the curse that we carry every day. They are the pawns of the Empire and they make sure you remember that. They stop you from raising your voice, and their intimidating presence keeps you on your toes.
At nights the sky is filled with mayn stars. For the unsuspecting it is just the beautiful sight of our home galaxy, but for those that know the truth, those shiny dots are no more than the engines of the blockading fleets. But every xeno or human living in large cities knows the sight of an EOM Battleship. These giant metallic beasts hover over every major setllement and port, making sure everything that goes in and out is to the liking of the Emperor. Only a miniscule part of the fleets of the Empire, these ships are the ultimate and true rulers of space, commanding every other ship around the planet, and thus ultimately governing the people who live on said planets. They are the highest form of propaganda and deterrement against xenos.
The Emperor is the man of steel, the immortal ruler, the true leader of the miserable bunch they call humans. He was the one who signed the bill to kill of any and every xeno who opposes his will, and he was the one who lead the genocide of our people during the war. He is never held any mercy for the people of this galaxy in his heart, and he never responded kindly to any agression. Every xeno knows his face from the posters that litter the streets of city centers, and from the Empire's broadcasts on the television. His "graces" sight reaches everywhere, but mostly us, and it is by his will that you'll be taken away and killed if you speak anything against him. Not to mention that most of the humans are absolutely in love with him, and would stone you themselves if you said a single bad word about their immortal ruler. The same man who once lead the fleets of humankind into our galaxy is the one who controls this massive empire now. Nobody knows how he managed to survive for so long, avoiding any signs of aging, but even the humans can agree that something shady is going on in the background. Whether its the work of some medicine, or a new kind of humans, this man has been on the throne for too long, and somebody needs to put him to his place.

Government description: The Providence is headed by a Grand Theurge, a simultaneously religious and political leader. Each Grand Theurge rules until death or abdication, and is chosen by the previous Grand Theurge to take over after them. They wield absolute power, but a council of twelve Lesser Theurges advises them, and vote on decisions in the rare absence of a Grand Theurge, such as when they die before they get a chance to choose a successor. All thirteen are said to have a special relationship with the Iratoc's cheif deity, Ashula.
Main race: Iratoc - A bipedal, humanoid race with blue-white skin, elongated ears and three horns. They are well adapted to the intense cold and near-constant snowfall of Arlan, but have difficulty sustaining themselves in hot environments. Additionally, having spent large amounts of their lives underground, Iratoc have naturally good night vision, but find sunlight and other bright light difficult to see in and slightly painful.
Minority races: Just humans.
Demography: 60% Iratoc, 40% human.
Religion: As a theocratic society, Iratoc religion is very important. They worship deities of the sun, Ashula, his three sisters, the moons Kaluseth, Alunen and Batret, and the stars, which hold a place similar to Abrahamic angels in the real world. Most are unnamed, barring a few exceptions such as Jarallian and Noellus, but are collectively known as the Valeston. Ashula rules the sky as a chief deity and the creator of all, whiles his sisters and their Valeston army guard his world for him when darkness preys upon it.
Culture: Most of Arlan at any given time is completely covered with snow, in some places going up to a hundred metres deep. As such, surface travel is awkward, and ground vehicles are practically useless, while the entirety of Arlan's civilised locations are deep underground, in the rock below the snow. Food is produced primarily from fungi and other plantlike sources with low light requirements. Every Iratoc (and some humans) follows the same religion, and any who can make a pilgrimage to the surface in order to see the sky for themselves. For a typical citizen of the Providence, life is dull, but not harsh. Everyone needs to do their part for it to survive as a whole, but as long as they do, things are generally uneventful. They have their role, they perform it, things continue safely. They do, however, have a strong sense of identity. They do not call themselves "The Glorious Providence" because they wish to serve the humans' interests over their own. Questioning the Providence's religion is a sure-fire way to get oneself treated poorly on Arlan, and outright denying it is a crime.
History: During the invasion, the Iratoc hadn't yet ventured into space. The humans largely ignored Arlan, as the planet's climate made settlement difficult, and the Iratoc were undetectable to basic scans. It was only a few years later, when Arlan was considered for mining, that a mineral scan revealed huge underground networks wthin Arlan - the Providence's cities. The Providence fought the humans in a guerrilla war. They knew the tunnels better, and were more used to fighting in the darkness. Eventually, though, the humans' superior technology and numbers defeated the Providence. Since then, a number of humans have settled in existing Iratoc cities. They were initially treated with animosity, but they made themselves useful, allowing the Providence to expand. They eventually reached high enough numbers that they could spare some materials, and began selling metals to the Empire. Ultimately, the Providence has largely benefitted from the humans, gaining significantly in technology and wealth, but these are beginning to fade. The Empire is driving a harder bargain on its trade. A few of the Lesser Theurges think they could do better alone, though so far they haven't said it aloud. Many Iratoc think those "faithless humans" could do with a conversion.
Important characters: Grand Theurge Kalwara - A young but willful Iratoc, chosen by the previous Grand Theurge for her cleverness and ability to improvise. Having lead the Providence for four years, it has so far proven to be the correct decision. Utwarn, Lesser Theurge of the Eleventh Seat - It is no secret that Utwarn is the elder brother of Kalwara, and her most trusted advisor. He is a zealous believer of the Providence's faith, next in line to be the Grand Theurge, and one of the strongest believers that the humans need to be ousted. Joseph Clint, Lesser Theurge of the Eighth Seat - The decision to allow humans to become Lesser Theurges was controversial, but there has been no reason to regret it so far. Joseph is the first and only human Lesser Theurge, and an Iratoc sympathiser. Despite this, he has had difficulty in gaining any real influence on decisions. Field Marshal Maltarn - While the Theurges hold political power, it takes someone with military expertise to command an army, and Maltarn fulfills this role. While there have been no major conflicts in the recent history of the Providence, war games have shown Maltarn to be one of the planet's brightest.
Description of military: While the Providence is lacking in ground vehicles, its infantry are strong guerrilla fighters and have a massive advantage in dark conditions (assuming the enemy isn't using night vision equipment). In addition, their defensive capabilities are second to none. What's a missile to them when their fortifications have to hold back several tonnes of snow anyway? And that would only be relevant if the enemy knew where they were in the first place. In terms of ships, it has a good presence of fighters and small ships, but very few large ones.
Technology: The Providence is approximately fourty years ahead of real-world technology. It still uses ballistic weapons and armour, albeit relatively advanced ones. Most of its power comes from nuclear sources, and so containment methods have been advanced to make this safer. Technologies useful underground, such as mining and the farming of low-light flora have been advanced out of proportion to other technologies, for obvious reasons.
Additional: It is worth noting that there is no difference in power between the seats of the Lesser Theurges - the numbers are purely to differentiate between them (i.e. the Lesser Theurge of the First Seat is neither the most nor the least powerful simply because their seat is first).
@Ciaran "faithless humans" you say? Their faith is based around burning xenos and admiring their God-Emperor, so I wouldn't say that to their face haha.
@6slyboy6 Before I start working on the NS. Are hive-mind races allowed in the RP or changeling races ? I ask because I've got a few ideas but don't want to work on something if it's now allowed :)
@6slyboy6 A race of hive minded changeling then ? Or an idea that just "hit me. I totally forgot about it 'till now that is. A race of brainwashing worms. Let me explain. A race that works as a simbiotic race. They enter their hosts and assume control over them. Giving them enhanced strength and regenerative abilities (nothing OP ofc. Something like a cut would heal in a few hours instead of a day or two). How does it sound?
Type of Government: -- Traditionally, a sort of collectivist meritocracy - since the Last Stand of the Pariah, however, they are officially an imperial colony at the whims of the imperial government.
Description of Government: -- Prior to the Last Stand, Iukkoth's numerous clans and nomadic tribes were united by a set of three governments that functioned independently of each other but worked together due to their specializations. The result was somewhat difficult for outsiders to follow due to its complexity, but essentially proved to be a stable - if occasionally corrupt and easily exploited - government with three distinct 'branches'. Following the Last Stand, however, much of the government's power has been turned over to the imperial government and all Triumvirate decisions are rigorously screened and evaluated before approval is permitted. ---- The Landmarker's Coalition is currently the most authoritative of the Triumvirate following the events of the Last Stand, since its primary purpose - organizing the distribution and arrangement of territory, property and resources belonging to the Yaephath's many tribes - is seen as the least dangerous and intrusive form of independence. Primarily made up of government appointed Scout and Soldier-caste Yaephath, it is a bureaucratic nightmare that is widely disliked by the majority of Yaephath who live more traditional life-styles, since the hunting of wildlife and growing of food are tightly controlled and food shortages amongst smaller tribes are often caused by their mistakes and biases. ---- The Starspeakers/Yae'thon (Children of Yae) are the religious branch of the Triumvirate and have always been moderately powerful, since they represent the boundaries between life and death, land and sky, past and future, memory and oblivion. Since most tribes hold to a fairly common set of spiritual beliefs, the Starspeakers consist of shamans and priests from most tribes and attempt to achieve some sort of common ideas and teachings through debate and discussion. The imperial government, however, insists on closely monitoring their discussions after their role in the Last Stand, and much of their traditional theology has been deemed dangerous and heretical, with many shamans bowing to the pressure to work in worship of the human God Emperor into their discussions. Worship of the God Emperor is common across much of Iukkoth and wider Yaephath society. ---- The Trailblazer Council is the largest of the three branches and consists of representatives from all major tribes of the first through till twenty-eighth generations (IE up to twenty-eight degrees of 'we got too big and had to split off into a new tribe'). It decides on matters of lawmaking, inter-tribal conflict, education, childcare, medicine and most forms of industry or scientific research (though the study of physics and anything strongly related to space travel is controlled by the Starspeakers). It is also traditionally the seat of authority for anything involving military action between multiple tribes, though they lack the authority to take or order such action unless requested to do so by the imperial government. They are under the heaviest scrutiny due to their open rebellion during the Last Stand and their inaction during the earlier Moon Rebellions.
Main race: Yaephath -- A seemingly reptilian species that reproduces through spores, they traditionally live nomadic life-styles across the vast plains and valleys of their dark and volcanic home world. Though they are hermaphrodites, they are born into reoccuring and distinctive Servant, Soldier and Scout castes focused on specific aspects of survival and function in a wider community and thus their languages frequently use distinctive terms or pronouns to define individuals (and often other organisms, machines, inanimate objects and even abstract concepts) according to this 'rule of three', sometimes with fourth or fifth variations for 'without caste' or 'containing all castes', respectively.
-- Though not technically nocturnal, the thick atmospheric clouds of their home-world - coupled with heavy pollution caused by their own industry and the arrival of human mining operations - has left it a permanently dark and unpleasant place. Although they struggle to form deep one-on-one bonds, their survival instincts and deeply ingrained senses of low self-worth lead them to naturally step into line by the opinions and decisions of those considered to be either 'older' or 'more numerous'. -- At the front of their skull is a series of organs designed to produce high-powered 'clicks' and to then detect the echoes from such and interpret the data received as images. Echolocation is a key sense for their species, even more so than their eyesight, which though widespread due to the width of their eyes, can only see in a smaller spectrum of light and cannot pick out fine detail with the effectiveness as human eyes. The shorter and more stoutly-built Servant caste are very distinctive for their complete lack of eyes, instead possessing a second set of forward facing ears and a more refined echolatory system that makes them excellent wardens and miners. Traditionally, this extreme distinction in their body-structure was often seen as a sign of being more 'in touch' with the universe, and most traditional Yaephath religious beliefs hold that the Servants are 'closer to the ancestors'. For this reason, many tribes and clans reserve the position of 'shaman' or other religiously and spiritually significant roles for Servant caste Yaephath. -- Their Soldier caste are the genetically most common and 'typical' of their species, the most adaptable, tallest and physically strongest, and traditionally become 'leaders' in their communities. However, following the Last Stand, imperial decree states that all tribes are limited to no more than 20% of their population to be of this caste, and abortions, cannibalism or abandonment of Soldier caste infants is extremely common. There are rumours that many tribes ignore or minimize this requirement, however, and the number of supposed 'accidents' at imperial mining facilities has drastically increased following the introduction of this law.
Minority races: -- Humans, who mainly live on mining stations or military and research outposts. A small imperial fleet is based at the Iukkoth moon station due to the planet's valuable strategic location and the risk of future rebellions. It seems that, for reasons not fully understood, there is a higher than usual concentration of anti-Imperial sentiment amongst the humans on Iukkoth. -- Klideu, a species of spindly, many-jointed, six limbed crustacean like creatures. Naturally short-lived and isolationist, they were often outnumbered and existed in a bitter rivalry with the Yaephath for thousands of years but were slowly dwindled away by their larger, more numerous and technologically advanced rivals. Although their role in the Last Stand nearly led to their extinction at the hands of both human and Yaephath, a sustainable population exist in specially cordoned and monitored 'Klideu Homelands' in a number of river deltas - carefully patrolled by the imperial army, these are little more than work camps and breeding grounds, the Klideu brainwashed and genetically engineered from birth to serve the empire and then used as highly effective engineers, surgeons and fighter-pilots across the galaxy.
Demographics: -- Yaephath (~58%) -- Human (~41%) -- Klideu (<1%)
Religion & Culture: -- Traditionally ancestor and star worship, whereby the two concepts are tightly linked - each star in the sky is a Yaephath to be or a Yaephath that was. While modern science has refuted much of this, it is often justified with the idea that stars either contain the resting place for Yaephath souls, or else that the frequent death and birth of new stars somehow correlates, usually through very complex deductions, to the birth and death of tribes. -- Cannibalism is a common motif and cultural tradition tied up with a number of religious beliefs that has drastically increased over the last few centuries. Since the stars are so difficult to see, it is feared that new souls will struggle to arrive and old ones will fail to leave. For this reason, most funeral rites involve consumption of the dead body by a close relative, which is said to ensure the soul will survive through the relative as a sort of 'host body'. Critics note that this would mean current generations consist of 'hosts' for dozens of souls each at least, and the subject is hotly debated by the Yae'thon, with some claiming this explains why the current generations live longer lives - apparently ignoring advancements in medical science that have eradicated several diseases and made many formerly fatal injuries no longer fatal. -- Especially since the Last Stand, the empire has placed a great deal of pressure for the Yae'thon to spread the ideals of Emperor-worship, and although it is often unpopular - especially amongst the more traditional tribes - it has slowly been gaining traction in more densely packed (and military controlled) areas. Ironically, most Yaephath will, if asked, openly pledge their allegiance to the God Emperor, but their description of his personality will usually sound an awful lot like the personality of some key founding member of their tribe or important ancestral figure, and they'll all swear that the Emperor is some sort of reborn ancestral figure or a well of Yaephath souls. More apockalyptic shamans will often claim that the Emperor is soon approaching a sort of critical mass of ---- tl;dr Yaephath religion is complicated and often contradictory, but they'll still swear by it because that's what every other Yaephath does, and if every other Yaephath does, it's got to be right, right?
History: -- Pre-Imperial -- Initial Resistance -- Moon Rebellions -- The Last Stand of the Pariah -- Post-Last Stand
Important characters: -- Manak Li'Roe, head speaker/representative for the Landmarker's Coalition, a blue-speckled Scout caste of the Kure tribe. Fears the slow extinction of the Yaephath species, and has been working to redistribute resources for the creation of mass medical supply depots and more widely available check-ups, something that some Imperial officers have discouraged on the grounds of 'unnecessary spending'. -- Avaz No'Kure, main representative of the Starspeakers/Yae'thon, a shaman with the special title of 'Voice for the Stars' who holds great weight on the Triumvirate. A Servant caste of the Roe tribe with a prominent scar across zhyr front-left ear, sister tribe to the Kure. Is a fiery and impassioned speaker, which draws some criticism from other members of the Yae'thon but has made zhyr popular with the common people. -- Varaz Moln, main representative of the Trailblazer Council, a dark-red Soldier caste of the Moln family and rumoured to have been a veteran of the Last Stand. The Triumvirate denies that xe had any such connections to such events, however, and xe primarily now just works in the oversight of (imperial sanctioned) mining operations. -- Kree Jamieson, chief 'ambassador' to the Imperial garrisons stationed on the planet and in orbit/on the moon, originally 'adopted' by an imperial officer following the end of the Last Stand. A dark blue/purple Scout caste from an extinct tribe. -- Iuon'Ka Nden'Wi, a member of the Starspeakers responsible for managing the Yaephath used as workers on the orbital stations/fleet used by the empire. A very loyal, mid-green Servant caste.
Description of Military (ships and ground troops): -- Prior to the arrival of the empire, the Yaephath lacked a large-scale military. Individual tribes handled their own defense and rarely used anything more powerful than simple pre-industrial handheld weapons for hunting or intimidation of enemy tribes. During the initial invasion, the larger city-states - known as the 'crossroads' for their highly multicultural and loosely governed nature - did attempt some larger and more organized resistance, reconfiguring a number of powerful non-military mining and exploratory technologies to create bombs and artillery, but these were ineffective in the long-term in comparison to the Empire's far greater resources, manpower, and military-focus. -- During the Moon Rebellions - and later during the Last Stand - the tribes were able to produce and use a surprising quantity of both stolen Imperial weapons and 'home-made' vehicles of surprising durability and containing impressive firepower at a large number of secret facilities managed by the Trailblazer Council. This coupled with clever guerilla tactics, human collaborators and a short-lived alliance with the remaining 'free Klideu' nearly granted them independance... only for it to be crushed by the empire with renewed and brutal vigour. -- After the Last Stand, the Triumvirate lacks the authority to organize or produce potentially dangerous military technology without strict supervision by imperial officials, and individual tribes are no longer allowed to carry personal or handheld weapons unless they apply for an imperial-allocated license. That said, a number of tribes residing in less heavily controlled regions are noted to flaunt these rules or find loopholes, and many tribes have used the imperial-provided technology for 'neurological harnesses' (a kind of mind-control through implants/cybernetics, provided by the empire to help calm fears that with less access to firearms the tribes would be unable to hunt safely or protect themselves from criminals/rival tribes) to bend the will of the wildlife on their planet. -- In the totally hypothetical (and in no way realistic because they'd never try it again) situation that the Triumvirate was to seize enough power to start a new wave of rebellion and take another attempt at independence, their forces would likely consist of a mixture of secretly produced or stolen Imperial armoured vehicles and massed part-time/volunteer/civilian infantry, using tamed/harnessed/augmented wildlife as shock/support-troops and making heavy use of guerilla warfare or sabotage long enough to establish some sort of heavy anti-orbital or orbital defense against Imperial retaliation.
Technology: -- This mostly consists of Imperial tech that has been built using available Yaephath materials and resources, resulting in an often hardier but less power-efficient variation. The introduction of Imperial technology has theoretically improved the lives of Yaephath on the planet, but in practice the advancements in medicine, transportation, communication and infrastructure are limited to the Yaephath living in human managed towns or facilities, with the average Yaephath nomad not living much different from xyr ancestors a thousand years ago - accept some stranger from an alien world gets to decide what's best for xyr entire social circle, culture, and family member.
Additional: -- Will start off very much as pawns of the Empire with little autonomy, but will likely rebel given a number of circumstances or the arrival of outside help.
Description of Governement: Very straight forward, the Voreli Remnant is ruled by the Immortal Crusader Zoroul Verimi, who has the final say in any matter within his nation, whether the problem be small or much larger, though he does have some administrative staff to take care of some minor things.
Main race: The Voreli are a very large race, standing at eight feet tall as well as being two times wider than the average human. They are the apex among the wilds of their planet, able to crush skulls in their grips and able to shrug off pistol fire with their tough hide. They might be physically stronger than humans but they are clumsy and reckless, though they are natural warriors adapted to warfare and survival. Their large girth is not for nothing, it is a nutrient and water reservoir, much like and eath camel, which can allow them to survive weeks without water or food.
Minority races: Humans
Demography: 80% Voreli 20% Human
Religion: Much like Imperium of Man, the Voreli worship the Immortal Crusader himself, albeit in secret with the human now controlling every aspect of life. To worship is to give of flesh and blood as tribute for the Immortal one allowing them to walk, to fight, and to die with honor. To not worship is to be dishonorable and to be cast out from all of society, these kinds are those who seem to aid the humans the most.

History(what you did under the rule of the empire fo roughly 300 years): In progress

Description of Military Ground Forces
The Cabal - The basic footman of the military is a force to be reckoned with even when outnumbered by, they are fanatical and armed with the standard rifle that fires explosive slugs at the enemy. No matter what, most EOM soldiers warn against direct engagements with these units at all costs, or else everyone is going to have a bad time.
The Nil – These are soldiers armed with an explosive-firing pistol a large metal shield of an alloy that not even the Imperium knows how to explain, this shield is able to deflect large caliber rounds and can really only be pierced by a dedicated anti-armor round designed against this shield. Seeing one of these on the field is a tough cookie to fight against without the proper armaments.
The Engineers – dedicated footmen who tend to the despairs and logistics of their brothers’ weapons and armor. While also armed with a cabal rifle, they also have explosives such as satchel charges and many grenades. The EOM highly advises keeping a minimum distance of 30 yards away, mainly so the soldier will have a chance to run away if they see a grenade being thrown at them.
The Caliphates – These are the biggest and the baddest of the Voreli foot troop, physically larger and wearing a flag standard on their back, they are easily distinguished as a squad’s leader or platoon leader depending on flag color. Armed with a sword the size of a man and a pistol, they would seem like easy picking if it weren’t for the armor they were wearing which would call for explosives or the same anti-armor weapon used against the Nil. All EOM troops are advised to not try and fight these behemoths, unless acting as a sacrificial lamb in the name of his squad mates and the Emperor.
Doom Tanks – Tanks, dedicated to about everything, able to slaughter anything within a 300 foot radius. Not only armed with a dual barrel cannon, with explosive ordnance of course, but has flame throwers and machine guns that allow it a 360-degree field of fire. All EOM soldiers are advised to run the hell away to the nearest tank squadron or to get within range of a starship immediately.
Everything else – The Voreli rarely rely on air or space superiority, but they have one singular ship still remaining, the Everything Else, the Immortal Crusader’s personal ship which can match another battlecruiser and its respective escort. While heavily damaged and unable to make repairs very easily, this ship is still potent enough to ram enemy ships into submission.
Technology(note that there are no energy shields, and that doomsday weapons are not a thing.): In progress
Additional(whatever you feel like you want to add): In progress
I'm still in the middle of typing out the characters, someone turned off my laptop before I got to save it, so I have to make revisions all over again.
@Lauder Really high power level, edgy design, and a cinically saturated description of armed forces. This calls for mamdatory shock collars and automated cannons on every intersection.
@6slyboy6 This is my WIP for the race. Tell me if it's acceptable before I continue, please :)
Name: Ubi Vermis (Latin for worm)
Flag: None
Hive-Mind
All Ubi Vermis submit to the all knowing will of the Matriarch. Free will between the ubi vermis is considered taboo.
The Ubi Vermis are a worm-like race that live within their hosts most of their lives. From the moment they exit the eggs laid by the Matriarch, they are hers to command. While mostly defenseless while outside a host, they become stronger when infecting a creature. As soon as they enter a host's body either by entering through an open orifice,an open wound or by making a small incision with their small but sharp teeth, they make their way to the host's brain and assume complete control. When the control is established, the host's body starts changing itself at DNA level and 'thus enhancing the host's natural abilities. Be them simply a greater physical strength and a higher regenerative ability or changing the host's DNA in a way that would make him a monster in the eyes of his brethren. Ubi Vermis can enter the host's body and stay in a "latent" phase for as long as the host doesn't die / make an X-ray control 'thus making the worm visible. In their natural form, a Ubi Vermis can withstand extreme temperatures (from -100°C to 150°C). They can burrow into the ground using their teeth while also being able to cut through ice and low level materials (plastic and the like).
Uninfected humans, Ubi Vermis that have not infected humans and Fugere Explosiva
Fugere Explosiva are the first race that the Ubi Vermis infected when the first Matriarch evolved. Additional(whatever you feel like you want to add):
The Government operates with five different worlds in an imperial controlled sector of space near the fringes. These five planets Mirrodin II, Typhus VI, Ahnron, Spehis, and Polyserak. These planets constituted the seats of power in the Federal administration. They are often military leaders and officials of their union, overseeing production, commerce, naval doctrine, army doctrine, and recognition of other alien species as part of the Concordate.
The Concordate consists of roughly 10 planets and assists the Empire in financial and military support.
Main race(Your own species, unless you want to play as humans): Human
Minority races(humans and what other. Needs to be at least 50% humans if you majority is them):
Gulgaran
Gulgaran’s, the Ice warriors of Nordos Prime. They were once hostile towards human occupation, viewing them weak and incapable of command, they were of course crushed by human forces within the course of three days. The Gulgarans respected the strength displayed by the humans. For the Gulgarans, the first battle determines their opinion of the people they meet, they of course liked the human forces enough to agree to being an auxiliary force after their short tussle.
The Gulgarans are massive, a full two feet taller than the tallest human. The Gulgaran’s believe in honor through both servitude and action, they would rather die in combat than survive a losing battle. They have a slim, tall, but muscular build; they are hairless, and their skin and complexion is similar to that of humans with color being the only thing that differs. They were not adapted to cold climates, but their planet’s climate shifted rapidly, the Gulgarans needed to adapt. They used their technology to create underground, geo-thermally heated, super-cities; for traversing the surface, they used suits that were armed to the teeth, they were a warrior race, they were always prepared to fight, even in the harshest environments. In fact, their climate was caused by their warfare. The last great war on Nordos Prime ended with gigantic explosives caused by their superweapons, hundreds of thousands crashing into specific areas at once.
The people who were spared from the war continued on for several centuries, most of the radiation has subsided, but their climate has not improved since the war. Being under radiation for so long, the Gulgaran’s might have developed a resistance to the effects, though this has not been thoroughly researched. The Gulgaran’s serve the Emporium loyaly, revering them as gods, masters, prophets. The Gulgaran’s worship humanity to the point where it’s almost religious. Some Gulgaran’s achieve the rank of War master within the Concordat military due to their sheer loyalty to the Human cause, their loyalty is rewarded as such and used as propaganda to further propagate the Emporiums influence.
Kragat
Excellent engineers, they were discovered on Ronin IV, a small mining world. They lived dormant underground until the met the human explorers. The Humans immediately assumed a very weary action, however they found that the Kragat did not display any intention of fighting. It seems their world harbored little danger to them, with absolutely no natural predators and their strong sense of social unity, they completely went stagnant in terms of weapons development. They did however drown their free time in building and understanding the laws of physics with the very limited amount of knowledge they had.
Once the humans integrated English into the Kragat, they made it mandatory, the Kragat did not like this. However, over the period of time they were under the Concordat and the constant barrage of propaganda, overtime, the English in Kragat society became normalized, and the Concordat made sure that there were no records of the cultural purge.
The Kragat’s underground home was well lit by bio luminescence; they often harvested the creatures around them to create a well-lit environment. The Kragat are an arthropodal race with their DNA closely resembling that of crabs and other crustaceans and Isopods. They have slow metabolisms and require shedding their carapace every ten months. Their pacifism has made them easy to enslave, and with more well-placed propaganda and neo-colonialist tactics, they’ve been absorbed into the human workforce.
Their multiple limbs, high hand eye coordination, tough exoskeletons, and overall high dexterity and complex understanding of blueprints make them an amazing workforce for building and engineering works.
Furok
The newest of the subjugated races of the concordate. The Furok, also known as the businessmen of Azure Montal an artificial world – once the center of trade – where they would conduct business, they offered their starcharts and their business experience in exchange for their autonomy. They had no way of fighting, it seemed they were much interested in business and profiteering. The Concordat, being a military backed trade committee was very interested in what they could bring to the table, of course the negotiations were stiff, as the humans of the Concordat would take no less than 70% of their total profit, and on top of that all of their transactions must be overseen by a military presence.
The Furok agreed, they were not fickle with how much they earn, just so long as they could spend it. The Furok bought themselves a lofty life within the Concordat, and subsequently the Emporium. While to the dismay of humanity, they were the engines of commerce, and one could not argue that they were highly effective con artists and businessmen.
The Furok look short, around 3’6-4’4 in height; their build is somewhat bloated and their hair was short and white; their complexion was rough and warty and their skin was colored a light brown. They were sometimes called derogatory names such as “Frog Skins”, “Midgets”, and “Wannabe Suits”. They didn’t mind the names, they had profit, they had shares all over the Emporium, and a single rebellion could jeopardize those shares. They’d throw money at the problem, buying and funding whatever would make the bad thing disappear. The Concordat was perfect for these Shrewd, and repulsive businessmen.
The Anuvayash
The Anuvayash or in English, The Metal Ones, are a mere six percent of the entire population, the lowest of all the species that make up the concordat. They are an abandoned race of sentient computers and robots whose design was immaculate with clear intentions to make them serviceable to a public demographic. The Anuvayash and their creators were destroyed during the Triangulum war, and the Anuvayash commandeered. Though the Anuvayash were sentient, they were had no qualms, their main purpose in life was to serve. They made an excellent slave race, but instead of being put to use to construction, they were put to use in A.I. and ship design roles.
The Anuvayash’s creators were somewhat militaristic, however, their ships quickly fell to the might of the Concordat. The Anuvayash – a spoil of war – was quickly subdued, their creation matrix, studied, reverse engineered, and remade. New A.I. machines that were completely submissive. The Anuvayash’s creators were brilliant in making sure that the Anuvayash wasn’t too advanced, it couldn’t learn new things, it could only do what it was programed to do. The Anuvayash could operate individually without a signal, and will only respond to authorized personnel. The Creators of the Anuvayash also contributed many other technologies, such as a new ship engine called the Electromagnetic Ion Drive (EID) and drone tech.
The Electromagnetic Ion Drive used an ionized field manipulated by an electromagnetic pulse to propel the ship, this method of travel used a fraction of the fuel compared to what the normal method of transportation used. The drone tech was much the same with the Anuvayash themselves, they could operate independently and obey orders by authorized personnel. Codes for Anuvayash controls would change every other day, and each code was unique for each officer of a certain ship or sector. The Anuvayash are also strictly controlled. They were dangerous in the wrong hands, thus they were monitored, and had to pass certain regulations, making them a luxury item in the Concordat. For military use, the Drone technology was further advanced and was used to help fill out the ranks of the Concordat starfighter corps; they also used EID’s on their ships to make travel more efficient.
Overall, the Anuvayash, are subservient, sentient, yet limited robots. In other cases they are also used as security on some planets. Other times their used alongside Gulgarans as an assault force. They are however, extremely fragile, and only served as another weapon that could fire back at the enemy to soften them up before the main-force crushes them.
Demography(Min 20% humans):
Throughout the Concordat consisting of billions of individuals
60% is Human 13% is Gulgaran 10% is Kragat 11% is Furok 6%
Religion:
The Gulgarans believe that the Humans are powerful beings, wise, old, and incredibly intelligent. They are nearly fanatical in their loyalty. The Gulgarans believe that if they serve humanity well and with honor, they will be rewarded in the afterlife; how they’re rewarded depends on how much they’ve achieved in their life, thus their fanaticism.
The Humans revere the Emperor, even more so than the Gulgarans revere the Human race. They believe him to be
Culture:
The Concordat is a human founded Autonomous nation that focuses on business, technological development, propaganda, and strong military presence. The Concordat culture is diverse due to the Xeno races that it managed to subjugate, the Gulgarans and Furok are the major contributors to these ethics.
History:
The Concordat dates back to the start of the war for the Triangulum. They were a human expeditionary and colony force. They ventured into unexplored territory when they were cut off from Emporium high command. There they settled five planets and grew outwards. They remained loyal to the Emperor, and with each conquered civilization, they found new technologies that solidified Imperial dominance in the Triangulum.
The Concordat was signed in Mirrodin, as without a governing force, they had to govern themselves for the majority of twenty three years. The Concordat in that time span managed to defeat, exterminate, and dethrone entire empires. The leadership and resourcefulness of the Expeditionary Force’s commanders were more than a match to what the Xenos could throw at them. This led to them becoming reigning council members of the Concordat government system.
When the dust settled, and they were reestablished with the Emporium, they were given special commendations, and their region became autonomous. Their loyalty to the Emperor for the twenty-three years without contact was rewarded graciously. They had free reign to construct ships, explore, and subjugate any planet that interested them. Of course, the Emporium still sees the Concordat as part of the Imperial fold, and in many ways they are. They are fanatical in their service to the Emperor, they see Xenos as lesser beings, albeit with a few exceptions, which the Emporium have found to be quite useful. They exert the demands of the Emporium when they are commanded to as that is their duty to the Emperor. Despite their similarities, their ships vastly differ in design due to the Twenty Three year divergence, their entire time spent away from the empire as an Exploratory and colonial force was put to use. Their entire fleet was equipped to turn planets into bustling cities within months. Their military and first contact routines are also different, however they are still -as a whole- a lot like the Emporium, with demands such as “Surrender your planet” and “You are to only buy Concordat products” and other such things.
They have several planets, ten of which are considered Emporium loyal and are the source of power in the Concordat. Other planets and worlds have experienced population culling, rapid industrialization, enslavement, and planet stripping. The Concordat use all of these to free up real estate, create thousands of ships and products, provide a labor force for the emporium, and create a large resource pool to pull from. The Concordat’s main strategy is to use its military might to impose the will of the Emporium and subjugate a planet, they will then annex it using propaganda and culture culling in order to make the xeno population easier to manipulate, at the end of those processes the Xeno planet in question will no longer have the will and reason to oppose their rule. Some have openly invited Human colonization, others were just too easy to enslave, and others still bargained for their freedom. Those were the only exceptions that the Concordat ever made.
Overall, the Concordat is an effective military and industrial machine that acts as the extension of the Emporiums will in their sector of the Galaxy.
Important characters:
Grand Magisterial Viceroy, Julius Kaveran.
Julius was an Ensign during the expansion wars in the Concordat. After twenty-three years and many dead officers, Lord High Marshal Kaveran became the leader of the Concordat. Back then, the highest seat of power was Lord, but when the Emporium came, they assisted with the governmental reforms; Kaveran became Grand Magisterial Viceroy, he was to be the iron fist of the emporium in their sector.
Kaveran himself was not a man of words, he was a man of action and he demanded such. The Concordat became his tool to better serve the Emperor, to better serve mankind and those who would worship it. He was cunning, smart, strict, and most of all, he was ruthless. He served the emperor like a lap dog, for this, he and the Concordat itself received additional benefits. But do not let his brutality fool you, he is as sophisticated and cunning as three Grand Admirals and has the same training and combat experience as a Gulgaran, a warrior race. Many find Julius to be a fitting leader for the Concordat and praise the Emperor for making him such.
Kaveran and the Emperor have had short discussions about the Expansion wars, he had to do some explaining as to why Xenos were given such liberties as they had given them. He of course answered, “because it was beneficial”, and found himself staring into the stars naming each and every system that the Concordat had exterminated life on, he continued with his explanation,
“The races of this universe are beneficial, I merely use them as tools – a means to an end. The Concordat gives these liberties simply because they displayed obedience and subservience. I simply rewarded their loyalty, they are after all tools, and even tools need a simple cleaning, a touchup, an upgrade. I believe they can serve us better in their current position and their current liberties, ensuring their loyalty, because even loyalty can be bought, however, the best kind of loyalty is genuine.”
He took a sip of his wine and afterwards wiped his beard, he then turned to look the Emperor in the eye standing straight as he did and continued.
“My lord Emperor, I have exterminated, purged, and purified many Xeno worlds, but that is only because they were deemed too radical to live; I have enslaved and subjugated a countless more, simply because they were weak; but the xenos that have liberties now have displayed an undying loyalty to not only the Concordat or the Emporium, but to mankind itself. They EARNED their way to where they are now, and they earned it after twenty three years of loyal service to the Concordat which justifies why I gave them those liberties. However, if you would wish of me to get rid of them, or tighten up our leash with them, I will gladly do so my Lord.”
Lord Grand Inquisitor James Mott
James Mott, a sly, shrewd, and secretive individual. He was inducted into the military at a young age, he became the interest of the intelligence bureau when they found he was able to steal enemy plans from behind their lines. He was not only an active agent, but he was a cunning strategist and he was a shrewd investigator. He masterminded the manipulation of the Kragats, and set up the devastation that brought the Anuvayash’s creators, the Adwani to crumble.
He was not renowned, he was never acknowledged, or thanked for his work, he was a spymaster, no one thanks a spymaster. As a person, James was overly talkative, he would spout things out, he was a blabber mouth; this did not contribute well to his esteemed image, but it put most at ease around him. It let everyone who didn’t know about his job, his work, feel comfortable sharing secrets with him. This allowed him, the Concordat, and ultimately, the Emporium know what their people were thinking, and it helped that he was also in good terms with a few Xenos as he was once a criminal. He knew people who would provide information based on his background, he was street smart. This made all the difference when determining which worlds to put heavy patrols on. Because of his elusive and manipulative nature, he is called the “Whisperer” among his enemies. He incites fear, people are so afraid of him manipulating them they’re afraid to plan anything against the Concordat, fearing that he may be manipulating them into planning something. And most of the time, they’re right fear.
Lord Grand Admiral, Julia Greystone
She is the first, and only female officer to reach a lord’s position in any branch of the military. There are four branches and four lords, Lord Grand Arbiter, Lord Grand Admiral, Lord Grand Marshal, Lord Grand ; the Lord Grand Arbiter looks oversees the Auxiliary forces, the Lord Grand Admiral oversees the fleets, the Lord Grand Marshal oversees the army, and finally, the Lord Grand Inquisitor oversees internal security, they are like spymasters but they operate as the sword rather than the needle.
Julia Greystone, is as ruthless as she is voluptuous, with fine red hair usually neatly tied in a bun, and rubenesque figure. She is strategically brilliant and aggressive, many Xenos now know her by the name of the Huntress. Her strategy is to chase down an enemy, even indirectly, in order to finish them off, not many have escaped her grasp. To the Humans, she is a symbol of power due to her gender, and her many triumphs. She is however headstrong, and will not retreat until she is absolutely certain that she will lose in combat, and because of this trait, many die under her command. She is also often referred to by her men as Julia “Gravestone” due to the many that have died for her pride.
Lord Grand Arbiter, Valarian Marduke
Valarian had the worst lords job in the concordat, but he was undeterred by this. Valarian prided himself with the discipline and coordination of his Auxiliary corps, he is known by the derogatory name of “Circus Master”. The Auxiliary consisted of Gulgarans, Anuvayash drones, and Furok infantry. The Furok, while short in stature, contributed their most able-bodied personnel, they were usually more well-groomed than a regular Furok, thus less warty and pathetic. The Auxiliary Corps always went in first before the main army, and Valarian oversees the actions of each Arbiter in the Concordat.
Overly excessive losses were still punishable, even though they were just Xeno Auxiliary and drones. Auxiliaries still cost money, and further, the expenses to equip each Auxiliary is quite expensive, thus the Auxiliary have to be fairly decent. Valarian himself commands the Auxiliary to such a degree that the main force was never needed in most combat situations. Many downplay his actions but not his fellow Lords. He was pragmatic about the Xenos in the military, sure they were Xenos but he thought, “Why waste a chance to bolster our forces?” and he has time and time again proven this to be necessary. Most men are still apprehensive about armed Xenos but they can’t deny that they enjoy the cannon fodder taking most of the fire for them.
Lord Grand Marshal, William Merlock
William Merlock, a tactful, skilled, and disciplined commander of the Concordat armed forces. He like many others have experienced successes that allows him to bolster esteemed reputation. His calm, quiet, apathy allows him to out-pace his enemies, thinking several steps ahead even before the battle began; scenario upon scenario upon scenario upon scenario. He was precise and patient when it came to his duties as Lord Grand Marshal. He was upheld just as much as an Julia, and as human culture is sometimes, they were usually mistaken to be a couple. Merlock is also the one of the few who commend Valarian with his exploits. Auxiliaries to Merlock are as important as flour in bread.
William and Valarian work closely together, they often share ideas and have frequent exchanges in terms of tactics and strategy. However, it is clear that Valarian is the better of the two when it comes to guerilla warfare. William is a posh man, he has standards, even in warfare. His enemies call him the “Red Gentleman”, his men call him the “Governor”, he himself likes these nicknames and continues to make these his traits. He is careful not to be too predictable, he has lost to Velarian because of his standards, that was a harrowing lesson for him being the overseer of the Army.
Description of Military(ships and ground troops): -WIP Technology(note that there are no energy shields, and that doomsday weapons are not a thing.): -WIP Additional(whatever you feel like you want to add): -WIP
I'm gonna make this look prettier when I get all the stuff I need. And I'm still assuming Lasers are allowed with a yield roughly similar to that of a main capital ship weapon for its upper limits? Just making doubley sure so when I get to tech I won't be hindered by "I wonder if this is too much..." -> Literally me worrying about the tiniest details.
EDIT: Also yes, I'm really getting into this, cause I've been dying for fleet combat and politics again.
@Timemaster Quite interesting. However I do need to know how the humans came to colonise the world and if they know about the worm or not (I assume not)
@Liotrent I feel like you and me would be awesome partners for playing a race of mine that is very similar to yours. Actually, we might just do that. Definetly accepted.
Uninfected humans, Ubi Vermis that have not infected humans, Fugere Explosiva and Lupe Demona
IGNORE THE IMAGE ON THE LEFT(the small head) AND THE WRITING PLEASE
The Lupe Demona are a race of wolf-life creatures that can survive in the harshest conditions due to their natural habitat being the "Wasteland" as the humans now call the third habitat of Aes 3. The Lupe Demona's are the first race that the Ubi Vermis infected when they first evolved, making them the creatures they are now today. Once they had fur and no claws but their ability to run for an extended time made sure that they could hunt for their food even if it meant exiting their natural habitat. Now that 99% of the Lupe Demona's have been infected and the rest original Lupe Demona became extinct, the Lupe Demona evolved in what they look like now.
Fugere Explosiva are the second race that the Ubi Vermis infected. Flying creatures that are akin to flies from Earth except for their natural ability explode at will, spewing their acid blood in a 1 meter radius and their size (big enough to be able to hold a human on their backs).
25% humans, 50% latent Ubi Vermis infected humans, 5% Ubi Vermis, 10% Fugere Explosiva and 10% Lupe Demona
The Matriarch is their Goddess
The Ubi Vermis don't have a culture per se. Because of the Hive-Mind is their will and thought. The Ubi Vermis adapt to the culture of the hosts they inhabit so that they pass undetected.
Planet Aes 3 was the homeworld of the Ubi Vermis since their evolution 2000 years ago. The planet itself is split in three different huge habitats. The first habitat is a huge jungle in which the Fugere Explosiva evolved and expanded on the whole planet from there, the second habitat is a rocky zone with valuable minerals beneath the earth and is the reason why the Empire colonized the planet and the third habitat is considered a dead zone because of it is a massive radioactive desert with quicksand and occasionally glow-pits (a glow-pit is basically a big hole in the ground covered by radioactive sand and at the bottom of the pit acid floods the pit). The third habitat is the place from where Ubi Vermis first appeared on the planet and slowly started to search for different species to infect. They took control of most of the Fugere Explosiva race and continued their infection-spree. That is when the Empire came to colonize the planet. At first, The Matriarch gave the order to study the humans and then infect them but soon retreated back to the Wasteland where humans couldn't survive. Seeing the power of the humans, a plan was formed by the Matriarch. Remain hidden until an opportune time would present itself.
After a few years of hiding in the deep sands of the Wasteland, the humans expanded and built giant machines to dig into the earth, eating away it's minerals. The Matriarch waited still for the moment to strike and it soon presented itself. A group of human colonist entered the Wasteland to explore it. Using Lupe Demona to attack and confuse them, Ubi Vermis larvae slowly but surely entered the human food and as soon as the humans ate it, they became The Matriatch's subjects. The Matriarch extracted the information they had on the human mining colony and then sent the humans back to their colony, making the Ubi Vermis inside them latent so they could pass undetected. 200 years later, the Matriarch watched the humans take control of most of the planet and retreated even further underground. The Lupe Demona became "domesticated" by the humans as hounds of hunt but unbeknown of the humans, they all served the Matriarch and she used them as silent spies and egg carriers. Ubi Vermis would exit their eggs from within the bodies of the Lupe Demona and infect the human masters while sleeping then going into a latent phase.
The Matriarch is the overriding will of the Ubi Vermis. She is their leader, spy master and Goddess. *IF ALLOWED IF NOT SIMPLY IGNORE THE FOLLOWING PART* Several security officers and the Chief of Security of the Aes 3 are infected with Ubi Vermis.
The Ubi Vermis do not have much in the means of the military but they can use anything that their current host can use so that means basically anything the Empire has and one of the infected human knows how to use it's usable by any Ubi Vermis infected host.
The two major military-like uses that the Ubi Vermis are the two minor races that live on Aes 3. They use Lupe Demona to attack and confuse attackers while Fugere Explosiva attack from the sky and if needed sacrifice themselves to kill the enemies of The Matriarch.
Ubi Vermis specialize on bio-tech, evolving their hosts beyond their normal form. Different creatures mean different evolution possibilities. For the use of Empire Tech or other races, the Ubi Vermis must enter a host that knows how to operate the said technology to be able to use it.
@6slyboy6 This is it. Tell me if you like my creation (which I am rather proud of, to be honest). If something needs changes, don't hesitate to tell me please ^_^
