(Forgotten how I formatted it last time, rip me) Volux
Dong, dong tolled the bell, a not-so-subtle prod to the Knights that it was time to fall back, and it seemed that the thick-skulled cannon fodder knew that too. A horde more streamed out onto the street, ugly faces snarling and displaying twisted smiles. Volux glanced around, meeting eyes with every since Orc before him, every single one causing the child to shudder. He froze, no magic spell could give him the courage to put himself through this. He caught the two orcs from before leering at him, almost like they found it funny that the tides had turned.
Conflicted, Volux decided to concede. It is one thing risking your neck on something you will likely survive, but when all the odds are stacked against you you may as well flee and fight another day he justified to himself, taking a step back. The orcs flashed their crooked teeth in delight, and took a seemingly pround and cocky step forward, then another, before charging forward amongst roars of victory and war cries.
Volux did not need to worry long about being viewed as a coward, a whistling arrow soared through the air and exploded, in a furious display of fire. The Retreat Signal he exclaimed inwardly, a smile of relief speading slowly across his countenance. Without a single moment more of hesitation, he turned tail and fled; emerald cape flapping through the air behind him. It took him a while to notice, but he hadn't seen Sereph anywhere when he took his retreat, and hoped she managed to make it to the rendezvous safely. And Arden, Volux hadn't seen him in even longer and began to worry about the boy. If anything happens to the boy, it was my fault he thought guiltily.
