When the world was brought into the Dark Ages by the Great Witch, turmoil blanketed the skies. Pestilence and horror lay in wake of every which way the Great Witch was strewn. Its influence corroding and presence encompassing, it was only by a shining miracle that the Great Witch was beaten back into the Abyss. Warriors of all races and backgrounds, of the humane and supernatural, banded together to cast the creature away from the world and save it.

These were the first Dawn Slayers. And centuries later, the world has been rebuilt and rejuvenated under the dutiful eye that continues to protect the world. Times have changed however. A peaceful cooperation between humanity and the paranormal has been established via the Dawn Slayers and academies have sprung up all over for the sake of fostering a new generation.

Enter Hikari Ryodan Academy: A pristine school created and headed by the Head Magister, a mage considered to be the strongest of our time. Its purpose is to train Dawn Slayers as well as maintain the balance of the world. The duties of a Dawn Slayer now vary greatly. One's task could be as simple as guiding a lost spirit back to the afterlife or as challenging as slaying a demon that threatens mankind. All culminate into keeping the balance of the world as it should be.

Hikari is open to a roster of different and unique creatures with equally unique backgrounds, and welcomes all students who are willing to learn. From mages, humans, and other beings of the paranormal, Hikari is a school that seeks to harmonize all beings in its student body. Make friends, combat the shadows, and carry on. Your life at Hikari Ryodan Academy has only just begun.

^INTRODUCTION

Welcome to your new home, the glorious Hikari Ryodan Academy. It is here where you will be under the instruction of the Head Magister and the rest of the staff here in Hikari. Each of you will receive your own dorms and will be taught in the ways of the Dawn Slayer to protect the balance of the World and keep the forces of the chaos from running rampant.

However, a demonic and dark force is rising, overbearing the world as we know it. Hikari Ryodan Academy is strangely receiving more and more students than ever before, suggesting a shift in the paranormal balance. Soon, mysterious occurrences begin happening to students, and rumors are spreading that chaos is afoot. The forces of evil are rising in rebellion, and leading them is an ancient enemy. The only thing keeping this world in balance now is the future generation of Dawn Slayers. The students of Hikari.

^RULES

• No Godmodding, Power Gaming, Metagaming, Mary Sues/Gary Stus, and or similar types of characters/behavior.

• Each student will start the school year fresh, making then all first years in the Academy.

• Each player may have two characters each, as they are allowed to play as both students and staff.

• There will be no specific posting order. However, wait at least two turns before posting again to let others have fun as well.

• Discussion in the OOC is nice, but if there is prolonged heated argument, take it in the PMs. Otherwise, the GMs will solve the problem. Criticism is ok but, if you want to come here to argue, please refrain from doing so. This will result in a quick and swift ban.

• RPers who "sporadically" lose interest or leave without saying anything are discouraged. I strongly suggest you either inform me or the Co-GMs of your leave of absence. If it’s an emergency, then at least tell us it is. We're reasonable people.

• Please post your Character Sheets onto the OOC for evaluation. After being accepted, you may then post them onto the Character Tab.

• Follow the Guild's rules for content/language. Take any improper material to PMs, please.

• Keep your IC posts at a minimum length of one or two paragraphs (i.e.: around 500 to 1000 characters), for each character in your post. Furthermore, try to write as well as you can.

• We take suggestions from the players into consideration with a great deal of importance. However, we are the final arbiters of any issue. Do not question our final verdict.

-Familiar: The ability to create and animate an imaginary creature. By drawing the image of a creature and infusing it with part of her spirit, she can bring it into reality. The summoned being seems to be intelligent, but lacks the ability to speak and often requires orders to function. The familiar's abilities are determined by the type of creature it is (A living suit of armor will be stronger and slower than a cat), but by average they will be five times as able as Alice herself. She also cannot give them supernatural abilities of their own, like psychic powers or fire breath.
Alice can only maintain two familiars at a time, and only for five minutes.

Alice is physically frail, sometimes even requiring assistance to perform drawn out physical activity, like climbing a long set of stairs.

Sample Post

It was the perfect day. The sun shone overhead, filtering softly through the branches of her willow tree as Alice put the finishing touches on her drawing. The fresh country air did more for her body now than any number of supplements and drugs back in the city. Taking another deep breath, Alice closed her eyes and enjoyed the soothing sounds of nature until she heard a voice calling her name.

"Alice! It's time to eat lunch!" Her mother yelled from the house. Smiling, Alice packed away her supplies and stood up carefully. Then, as she turned to head inside, a menacing shadow fell over her, and the world was darkness and screams.

Alice woke with a start, confusion and fear overriding her mind for a few seconds as she scrabbled to get a hand on something solid. Managing to clutch the arm of her seat, she raised one hand to shield her eyes from the sunlight streaming through the window as she fought to control her breathing. "That dream again," She muttered under her breath, reaching over to pull the curtains over the offending sheet of glass. She got a look of the countryside as she did, and saw shops and billboards flanking the highway running parallel to her. Stopping a conductor passing her room, she asked "How long until we arrive, sir?"

"The train will arrive in roughly one hour miss." The man responded, "Is there anything I can do to assist you?"

"No, thank you very much," She replied, smiling at the man as he continued his duties. One hour until she got to her new home. A place where she might be able to put a stop to those dreams, if nothing else.

Her powers are a bit much for this kind of setting, especially if she's a First Year student in the school. Your sample post can also have more substance to it and can be placed in a hider. Finally, you need an appearance.

Abilities

Neutra Magic: An exceptionally rare type of magic. Aster has the ability to manipulate his own Mana in its purest form which he calls; Pure Mana. Over the course of a few centuries of training, Aster's Pure Mana actually shows itself as a blue flame-like essence due to its sheer density. He uses his Pure Mana to shield and reflect most other forms of Mana which may be directed towards him. For instance, an Explosion-type attack would be shielded initially before being reflected back towards its' origin, though the reflected spell would be considerably weaker than the original. Illusions would have a weakened effect, being unable to simply pass through the density of his Pure Mana. Low level Illusions would be easily reflected back towards their origin, though they would have little effect against the one casting them.

Aster may also choose to focus solely on shielding or reflecting Mana.
- When focusing on shielding, Aster may increase the area that is being shielded in a dome-like manner, essentially being able to protect an area the size of the Academy from magical attacks for a limited time.
- When focusing on reflecting, Aster completely foregoes his shield in order to return spells back toward their origin almost instantly.

Alchemia Magic: Another rare form of magic, discovered and developed by Aster whilst teaching at Hikari Ryodan Academy. After mastering how to manipulate his own Pure Mana, Aster discovered that you could change the properties of all Mana. Based on the fact that Mana contained far more properties which could be altered in its' pure form than it did after it had been used to cast spells. As such, Aster has theoretically invented a way to change the density of Mana in his surrounding area, essentially strengthening or weakening spells by injecting his own Mana into a spell or withdrawing the Mana from it.

Practically, however, Aster has only been able to inject his own Pure Mana into other spells, strengthening them. He has not yet found a way to withdraw Mana, an issue which has remained a mystery to him.

Other

Personality:
Nonchalant - As a teacher at Hikari, Aster is rather laid back when it comes to teaching. He refuses to become agitated by those who are not willing to learn or better themselves and only dedicates his efforts to those who try. The prospect of failure never bothers him, as he believes failure is just another hurdle one must overcome. His many years of experience have shown him that nothing is truly worth overworking yourself for.

Perverted - Like the old man that he truly is, Aster is secretly perverted. However, his young looking appearance does a lot to help him out where women are concerned. And although he is not as vivacious in his attempts to woo women or 'catch-the-odd-glimpse' as most other perverts, he most certainly will take up the odd opportunity to sate his debauchery tastes whenever he can. Above all, four-hundred years has blessed Aster with the uncanny ability to guess the age of nearly every female he comes across and, so long as they are of the legal age, he can quite often correctly guess their various measurements.

Backstory:
One of the few remaining Demon Princes born of the Demonic Realms, a sub-race of Demon who have proven themselves far more intelligent and civilized than the majority of their cousins. He came to the Earthen Realm hoping to study more about the properties of Mana and thus traveled to the only place where he'd heard would help him find the answers he sought: Hikari Ryodan Academy. Upon arriving, he requested to be able to study in solitude, stating that he had no intention of teaching kids. His request was denied, being told that he would only be allowed to stay at the Academy if he became a teacher, he accepted begrudgingly. During his time at the Academy, Aster finished an extensive thesis on his findings of Mana entitled, 'Properties of Mana: The Force Behind Magic.' His studies into Mana has garnered him popular renown throughout the world of magic.

- Aster is addicted to candy, specifically lollipops. He makes sure to carry at least three on his person at all times.
- Whenever he isn't busy teaching students, studying new theories about Mana or interacting with his fellow teachers, Aster will often hide himself away to play Pocket Monster mobile games.
- He is currently one of the world's leading experts on the study of Mana.

Sample

"Don't move!" Aster's voice silenced the boisterous class. He had initially tasked them with trying to develop their personal Mana into a visible state, much-like his own blue flames. It was proving to be far more difficult than he'd anticipated, especially given that this was his Advanced Study Class. Like him, this collective of students had all been enthralled by the idea of studying Mana. A fact that had excited him to no end, given that more than a few of his colleagues had long grown tired of Aster's numerous and frenzied outbursts about some new theory regarding the properties of Mana and how it could be applied. With these kids he was able to discuss and expand upon his passion; Mana.

His furor expelled within these classes, however, often gave rise to a certain level of competition amongst his students, especially those from this particular 201 class. Which, more often than not, resulted in many a heated debate and certainly more than one fireball launched across the class room in anger or jealousy. This happened to be one of those instances. But rather than scolding the two students who had, mere moments ago, been exchanging spiteful expletives followed by spells, Aster stood behind his desk, eyes wide with bewilderment and an expression of elation.

Amongst the spat between two of his students, Aster had, by pure coincidence, stumbled across the perfect testing conditions for his theory regarding the withdrawal of Mana from an existing spell. Where one student had launched a medium-sized fireball across the room toward the target of his anger, another student in her defense of the target had managed to stop the ball of flames in mid-air. Had he not momentarily glanced up from his latest Pocket Monster game to witness the erupting argument, the scene in front of him may have passed as quickly as it had begun.

"This. Is. Perfect." He whispered, holding his hands out as if to freeze everyone in their place. The students suddenly realized the look of excitement on his face, rather than anger, and decided to roll with it. Aster regarded the girl, who was still maintaining her force-field around the fireball that had stopped it initially. "Keep it going for as long as you can." He said, nodding with approval. She struggled to answer with a hampered nod of her own. Clearly the act of stopping the spell in the first place had taken a lot out of her and maintaining her field was continuing to drain her Mana reserves at an alarmingly fast rate. He would not have long to act.

He reached towards the floating embers with his right hand and began to extend his own Mana towards it, invisible at first but he soon decided to raise the density to allow his students to witness what he was attempting to do. This would be a learning opportunity for them all. His Mana flickered and lashed out at the orange flames suspended in mid-air. He could sense the two separate types of Mana that were already present in the air; the force-field's and the fireball's. Aster attempted to envelope his Mana around the ball of fire and, as he did so, he could feel the blue and orange flames start to reach out towards each other as if attracted like magnets. It was only brief and the feeling soon drifted away before his Mana began pouring itself into the fireball, strengthening it.

"No, no, no!" He growled. Before he could retract his Mana, however, the force-field gave out and the girl fainted. Horror quickly became Aster's expression as the enhanced fireball flashed across the room. He tried to release his Mana in order to cast a shield but he wouldn't make it in time. "GET DOWN!" He yelled, diving towards his students to protect them in a last-ditch effort.

If not for the caster directing it upward into the ceiling at the last moment, Aster was certain someone would have died. He had been fortunate that the explosion of ceiling and the resulting collapse of the floor above had not caused any serious injuries. Even so, he was about to be in for the ass-chewing of his life. 'Dammit!'

As long as it's reasonable, it's ok. What's reasonable varies on the character's species. Students are supposed to be the equivalent of teenager of their race.

• Abilities: Physical Magic: Havish has been practicing physical magic for some time now after learning about his talents, his most notable spell is his Armadillo Cloak, he can summon a tough chitinous armor that can with effort, cover his entire body. the shape of the armor is all dependent on his will, he has before managed to have a sharpened appendage protrude from the gauntlet but was able to make nothing more than the gauntlet. Other talents of his are other physical modification magics like increasing strength or speed or durability, of course the extent of this power is very limited.

• Skills: Havish is not very skilled at much but he is a very skilled cook, he spent much of his formative years at home and learned much from his mother about food.

• Inventory: A family ring, a silver band with a ruby set in it. inside the inscription reads "A Greyson always stands."

Havish woke up this morning, sun shining in his eyes, the smell of breakfast was... absent. Havish got up and put on a pair of his sweatpants he had set out the night previous and moved to the door, usually by this time of day his mother had already started to cook and he would come down to help her out, but there was nothing, no one was in the kitchen, no food was being cooked, nothing. "Mom. Mom!" There was no response, and Havish began to panic. Up the stairs he ran, and burst through the door of his mothers bedroom, and there she was, lying in bed, the panic subsided, he ran over to her and tried to shake her awake. "Mom, come on get up, we need to make breakfast, I have school today." No response was given, the woman lay there still, eyes remained closed. "Mom....mom...." The panic returned and collapsed the young boy, he was twelve this year, and now he wondered what future was set in place for him.
The funeral was quaint, and was surprisingly enough, paid for entirely by his father, with whom he was to stay with now. Havish hadn't seen his father in several years, they had divorced when he was a child and his mother never explained why, only that his father loved him but the two of them felt it was better for Havish to not be around him. "Havish, I want you to know something." his father was looking down at him now, a tear of his own running down his cheek, "The life your mother wanted for you, I can't give, but I can give you another, one that will be hard, it will be scary, and it will be dangerous, but I swear that if you take the chance, you could be more than you can imagine." His father was smiling, but there was genuine fear in his eyes, but Havish couldn't say no, he had no other family, so all he could do was nod.
The next three years were spent with his father training with magic, magic he had never known he had. There were days when his father would show him offensive magic and he would wonder, if I had had this magic when I was younger I could fought back against the bullies I dealt with. Havish knew that was a lie though, he wouldn't have fought them, he never fought, he was always beaten and beaten, never once did he stand up. "Havish, come on now, you have to try harder, the academy won't accept you if you don't give them something to work with." The man flung spell after spell at the boy, but Havish continued to dodge and weakly deflect, "No, no, you need to stand strong, you are a Greyson, we always stand." As the man finished speaking, Havish felt his feet stop, the ground seemingly mounding up over them, "Stand and show me who you are." The man flung spell after spell, Havish fearfully doing his best to not be hit, but soon he was caught directly in the line of fire, literally, the flames sprang from his fathers hand and struck dead center of Havish's chest, Havish could only think of one thing, if only he could just curl up and hide, not let any of this hurt him. The flames curled and hissed, but there was no pain, it was hot, but not painful, when Havish opened his eyes, he looked down to see a plate of armor, it covered his chest and stomach, he laughed nervously and looked at his father, the man was smiling wide, "You did it, a spell to be proud of, a living armament is a powerful..." mid sentence the armor dissolved and Havish collapsed unable to handle the strain of the spell yet, but, at least promise was there.

Title: King of the Vampires.

Species: Vampire

Role: Teacher

Abilities:

-Adrenaline Rush: The key behind his strength and pride. Blessed ever since he was born, Yurius has the ability to strengthen himself by inflicting physical damage his own body. The more he damages himself, the stronger he becomes. This enables him the ability to make a great comeback as his opponents try to overwhelm him. His enemy also has to pay attention to him and fight with caution rather than relying on brute strength. However this comes with a risky scenario where he can potentially faint or even die due to going overboard, and if he tries to regain his life energy - AKA blood - the adrenaline's effects will become weaker.

-Drain: Like any normal vampire, blood is his main source of life. He uses his sharp fangs to drain the blood from others as a means to regain life. This serves to diminish the drawbacks of his Adrenaline Rush ability, but it is difficult to actually use it in combat scenario, so he does not rely much on this ability. His fighting style is risky, but gives him high rewards.

-Cannot turn into bats: Surprisingly, Yurius does not possess the ability to turn himself into bats like a normal vampire. However, the King of the Vampires did not mind such inconveniences

-Great endurance

Personality and Traits:

-Prideful and Arrogant: Yurius has his reasons to be titled King of the Vampires (even that he isn't actually king), and he takes great pride in it. He ultimately sees himself as superior to most species out there, even his own kind. He looks down upon most warriors, seeing them as competent, but unworthy and hopeless, and wishes to guide his students to a different path. Those who are not willing to learn in his class will be looked upon with scorn, while those eager for strength and knowledge he will consider worthy and mostly devotes himself to them.

-Polite: Despite being prideful and sometimes feared by students, he acts relatively polite and mannered towards those who he considers worthy and respectful.

-Used to be Evil: His distaste for other warriors used to be extreme back in his younger days hundreds of years ago. Some of the warriors at the time were fueled with self-interests and only desire for fame and wealth, which disgusts him. He saw them as gluttons and hunted them down. This act once stirred up a large vampire-hunt, especially made to hunt down Yurius and end his terror. Nevertheless, most vampire hunters are unable to take him down, except for one man: Alister Marid. Sent by the Head Magister, he was regarded by Yurius, even by today's standard, as the most powerful opponent he has ever faced. The fight ended after a long and tiring series of blow exchanges. Lucky for Yurius is that Alister was also a warrior. He also desired for victory, for strength to protect his people. And most importantly he comprehended Yurius's cause for his actions, unlike others who only saw him as a monster. Out of respect for him, Alister did not kill him, and vice versa, Yurius agrees to go into a hundred years self-exile, promising not to interfere with his affairs anymore. His sentiment changed as well during that time.

Yurius's tiring groan echoed inside his room in the morning, as the glimmering sunlight signaled him the dawn of a new day. Soon, his bloody red eyes shot open, and the old vampire woke up from his slumber. His hand crawled into a fist as he struck his shoulders a few times.

"The current of time is slowly carrying me away..."

He was indeed getting old. Five hundred years. Five hundred springs of his life had now gone to past. When he looked at it, he was kind of surprised that he had become this old. A vampire's life might be a lot longer than a human, but they end all the same. There were all the early games, the golden age and the late games in life. For Yurius, he was slowly reaching the late one.

Taking a rare and brief moment of silence as he gazed out of the window, Yurius reflected on his current life. Who would have thought? The once King of the Vampires would be teaching children about combat. He wouldn't believe it either, if he was his own self a few hundred years ago. The man who hated the world, whose only means of existence is to hunt down those gluttonous warriors. And to be honest, he did not really regret that life. He hated those fools. Those whose thirst for victory was impure, corrupt and pathetic! He had no doubts that there were still some people like that in this era. They are everywhere.

What had exactly brought the vampire to the career of teaching, people may ask? Yurius chuckled, as he reminisces. That faithful fight...

"Alister! Fighting you is so exhilarating!" The younger vampire, donning a comfortable and semi-formal suit, with a portion of his chest muscle exposed, cried out at his opponent.

"I second you, Yurius Diencrade. Battling you makes me want to forget everything that I have achieved, and only become a warrior!" The man, dressed in knight armor and a sword, yelled back, his tone aggressive but still held respect for his adversary.

"You are truly a man unlike any other. Your blade is artful, and your strike holds desire and determination. It is unfortunate, however, that there will be only one winner in this fight." Yurius replied.

"A shame indeed Yurius. You have the strength of a hundred men, and yet you devote it to a devilish cause." Alister countered him, with his familiar mocking tone.

"Ha! Believe it or not Alister. This world is barren, filled with rampant self-interests. Warriors like you are nearly extinct. Extinguished and overshadowed by those sluggish fools!" Yurius shouted back, as he stepped forward, his claws matched the knight's blade. "And I wish to reverse it!"

Alister yanked his blade, and Yurius charged forward for another blow. It was his intentions though, as he agilely danced to the side, avoiding the incoming attack. He gave a horizontal slash, to be blocked by the vampire's gloved hand, while continue the conversation

"If you had wished for such warriors, why don't you train them yourselves?" He retracted his blade and went for another slash, only to be blocked again by the vampire. But this time, the block was a lot softer, as the sentence Alister just said appeared to have penetrated him.

"Your strength would be wasted on killing."

The vampire took a moment, separating him and his combatant ahead of him, his expressions seemingly unimpressed.

"...Enough of this nonsense. Let us bring this fight to a conclusion!"

And they clashed, yet again...

Never Yurius had thought that he would have taken that advice seriously back then. But after his defeat and self-exile, in the depths of solitude, he soon realized that he was right. There were those who were gluttons, but there were those that were truly the great warrior Yurius wanted them to be. Miraculously, he was accepted into the teaching role, and more surprisingly by the man who ordered his death centuries ago. There were still gazes of cautions and distrusts, but his place was pretty much stable. He had a place to live, and was able to instruct his students his ways. That was the only thing that mattered to him now.

After taking a brief shower, brushing his teeth and got dressed in his old yet unworn suit, he was ready to begin teaching. Straight up after opening the door, he saw a student, apparently a senior one, waiting eagerly for him to come out.

"Teacher! Today I shall show you what I have learnt! I shall challenge you to a fight!"

Yurius laughed audibly, his all-too-familiar friendly mocking tone was present.

"Though you are weak, your courage and passion is admirable."

Then finally...

"Let us fight!" (Ok he did not fight at the school ground)

Through the application of this skill, Tiina is technically capable of storing information on any theory discussed in any class, but regardless, she still decides to take notes in class and study like any other student, claiming that the last thing she wants is to become the center of attention amongst her peers. However, she often puts this skill to good use in battle, allowing her to catalog crucial details about her foes such as their weaknesses and attack patterns all in her head.

Advanced Forethought - While Tiina is unable to actually see the future through clairvoyance like a fortune teller, she can handle analyzing various hypothetical scenarios several steps ahead of time. With the right data, she becomes a peerless strategist, capable of using her predictions to take on and defeat foes far stronger and far faster than her.

Fluency in Various tongues - Tiina has mastered reading and writing in over 30 human languages and many variations of elven tongues. She has some trouble reading scriptures written in ancient and dead tongues, and can barely understand non-verbal languages, such as sign language and body language.

Enhanced Hearing - While Tiina has more acute hearing than most other students, she sometimes has to put on a pair of headphones during class because the constant sound of chalk clacking against the chalkboard causes her headaches.

Skills: Tiina is quite clumsy and her skills at sewing, tying her own shoelaces, eating with chopsticks, and many other activities that require fine motor skills. Despite this, however, she is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to competitive video games, particularly those of the 2D Fighting genre. Also, being half-elf, Tiina is a natural at archery.

I don't really have much to do in my spare time, so I tend to coop inside the chilly air-conditioned library, reading as many novels I can get my hands on until the sun drops. Right now, I'm reading a novel about an old man who's read so many stories of knightly romance that he went crazy and traveled the country aimlessly under the delusion that he's an actual knight! It's a really good read, and according to the librarian, the book represents a very important advance in the literary world at the time.

I let out a loud sigh and slump down in my chair. "It's no use," I tell myself, closing the book with an audible thud. "I am so not in the mood today." Without speaking a word, I placed the novel back to the section I had removed it from and somberly walk out of the library with my head hanging low.

I am assaulted by negative thoughts as soon as I step out. I pull out my cellphone and plug my pink earbuds into it. "I need some tunes," I conclude before shuffling my playlist.

As I aimlessly stroll around the campus, I stumble upon the bulletin board with dozens of requests from all over the land. I stop and skim through these requests until I find one that catches my eye. "Recruiting able-bodied students to find and slay a rogue dragon." A playful smirk creeps onto my face as I pull out a pen and write down my name on the last empty spot on the sheet.

"A dragon, huh?" I ask. "I hope this is as entertaining as it sounds..."
