I have a concept for a 'Mother Slime' her whole living life has been a struggle to protect herself and her loved ones from others, almost to the point of becoming a bit sociopathic. That tendency transfers to her reborn self as she seeks to acquire people and things and 'protect them' like a possessive mother.

Would something like that work?

Um, hi. This RP caught my attention, and honestly, I actually like it. I do have some anxieties about it - primarily because it's 'late in the game', like someone else said, and I don't generally have the confidence to apply to roleplays after they've begun. That said, I'm willing to go for it with this one. Does anyone have much idea what 'classes' are in short supply? I have my preferences, but I believe the Wisp, Rat and Lizard are in abundance, right?

What classes you choose are up to you, even if it seems like we have a lot of that species already--if you want to be more unique or fill a certain role that's fine, I don't expect everyone to make a perfectly balanced party.

I'm sorry I haven't been around to answer questions and the like, I've had a busy couple of days at work. You can still join if you'd like, and I'll try to answer any questions you have--your initial character concept, the obsessive mother, sounded fine to me.

Everyone, please be aware that while this final batch of players submits their CS applications, I'm going to go ahead and close the RP to new applications. Right now I feel like we have enough players that I'm on the verge of not being able to put the proper amount of focus on everyone as a GM, so I'm going to shut 'er down until we have a good rhythm going again.

To the new players, we are still in the "Noob Cave" type area, not a lot has happened in terms of plot and story. Most characters have simply been surviving by hunting, gathering resources, fighting off other monsters, and exploring. They have discovered information on the Boss and his second-in-command, the Mana Crystals and Healing Herbs are getting low because they have been harvested so much, and the entrance to the cave has suffered a partial cave-in. Other than that it's been mostly character interaction and combat.

Past Life:

In his previous life, Naji's family ran a hookah bar in the bustling art deco blur of Cairo's Zalamek district. They were barely scraping into ‘modest' wealth, though one could hardly tell by looking at them, always dressed finely and exuding an air of practiced and well worn hospitality. Their apartment sitting comfortably atop their lounge, quietly sequestered away from the ruckus of the bar patrons save for the occasional VIP being brought up for food and more...discreet conversation.

For much of his early life, Naji’s mother was forced him to focus on studying, only letting him help the bar in small ways. Cleaning hookahs, fetching supplies, mixing drinks, lighting cigars. The normal little chores one would assign to a young child that would not distract them from their school work. However, by the time he turned 17, both he and his parents realized that academically he was...rather worthless all things considered. His mathematical skills were passable at best, but everything else was abysmal to almost baffling. The only thing he seemed able to learn with any degree of ease were other languages, but that was mostly due to having no shortage of foreigners to practice with.

It was decided between the three of them that college was not going to be worth the money. Naji just didn't have the head for anything besides talking and with his parents starting to grow too old for the night life, it was best that he take over as the host while they kept the books. Atleast until his sister finished college and they could retire properly. This suited Naji just fine and he thrived in his new position, making fast friends with the regular patrons and doling out the charm to ensure new customers BECAME regulars.

Oil barons, priests, Terrorist, Counter Terrorists, college girls on tour. No matter who walked into his bar over the next four years all were welcomed with the same joyous cheer and a list of recommended flavors and liquor to pair it with far too long to repeat in one breath. And Naji couldn't have been happier. His sister would finish school soon, his parents could retire, and he would finally

Slip and crack his open on the tile floor of his own bar.

That...that last part stung a little more than it should have. It just wasn't fair! If he at least been killed by some dangerous bar patron he could have least made a good story! But no. The man who drank happily with suicide bombers and police alike was done in by...what smelled like a Mojito.

The Demon King's offer was met with no small degree of confusion and (swiftly following) bemusement. He was pretty sure all of this was some sort of elaborate pre-brain death hallucination or something. But hey, if its not, then he could just made a few buddies and ride this whole mess out.

Past Life:
Edith had to work and hold onto everything she ever got. The youngest of three sisters and two brothers, she learned very quickly that she needed to do whatever she could to just stand out and get attention. She acted out, becoming a bit of a brat. She got the attention she craved even if it was only to receive discipline. It taught her a valuable lesson. That she could control her life. She could get what she wanted, even if you had to do bad things.

She put all her efforts into standing out and getting the best results for herself. It didn't matter if she studied all the time, as long as she got the best grade, so cheating was definitely a solid tactic. She used her friends to get to other more popular friends, and then left her old ones in the dust when they were no longer useful to her. She would keep herself attractive and fit, and flirted with boys so they would do her favors. Control was the name of the game. She had to control everything in her life and had to control the people in it. To say she was possessive would be an understatement as she resorted to ever more cruel and backhanded ways to remove the competition.

This served her well in the position of real estate broker. Having been an agent herself and quite successful, she took all the tests, greased all the palms, slept with all the district managers she needed to get an office and a team all her own, and she put her little minions through hell. Quitting was not something she would allow. It wasn't part of her plan and she couldnt have that.

Finding a useful, rich, and gullible man was all too easy for her as well. She treated her marriage as another little stepping stone in acquiring as much possessions, money, and influence as she could. Her mindset changed the moment she held her first child, a daughter just like her. Finally she actually thought of something other than herself. She became a doting mother, obsessed with the safety, health, and success of her children, having four of them in all.

They had lives without troubles, but being as controlling as she was, her love was met with equal parts bitterness as each of them had ever single parts of their childhood planned and adhering to a strict schedule. Even in love she could not change who she was deep inside, even if her heart was technically in the right place.

It all came to a screeching and crashing end when in a car, her oldest daughter refused to go to law school like Edith planned. The refusal became an argument, the argument became shouting, the shouting led to carelessness, and carelessness led to Edith crashing into a guard rail.

Her daughter survived. She did not.

@Zeroth So can I write that my character regained him memories while floating above the lake collecting those greens? I know we're past that already but I want to add it in there before they meet up.

Already pushed this too much. I did that with his memories so my character could try all those stuff I wrote in the first post. In a role-playing sense he'd never do those things if he had his former memories.
