I would have had Eris post a photo of the group to some random social media but it would be way too obvious that she was plotting something if she just turned around and snapped a picture of them for no apparent reason.

Actually, that would have been a lot easier to do sneakily. Eris could have played along and took a picture of her new friends before walking off to make a call, which would have been much less suspicious than ignoring a friendly person before walking away to make a call. Or you could have went with them and pretended the group of weirdos kidnapped you. Personally speaking, taking a detour to get to my goals helps get the creative juices flowing.

I'm pretty sure it is, but I've noticed people trying to "win" in RPs like that before with vague powers which really kills the fun. I think the GM might be worried about that.
