I am a little late to the derailing of the thread, but uh... stop it.

I guess being burned alive and being used to stuff teddy bears isn't threatening enough.

Perhaps I'll gut them and use their intestines to make charm braclets for their mothers.

to far?

I know this is supremely ironic because of how off-topic it is, but I appreciate your signature. #DawiPride

That's when the tagging system comes into play for helping determine that kind of stuff.

Y'know, that sounds like such a good idea that I'm surprised I didn't think of it. I might actually use the tag system if that were the case!

My thoughts exactly. You'd have a board for all types on one RP and you'd be forced to tag your 'writing level'. Say you'll stick with the free/casual/advanced system. I and a few others tag a few RPs as casual in the 'fandom' board. Then, users can check the 'fandom' board and either leave it unfiltered, or filter for the free/casual/advanced tags.

This way you leave freedom for both those who want a certain experiences and the ones that just like to throw darts and see what sticks.

Well, the audience shouldn't tag things. The GM should. And the GMs already have this feature in our current framework. We just can't search by tags yet.

lmao poor word choice, mb

I meant me and a few others, as the GMs, tag our RPs as casual

Ok but seriously, we need to stay on topic or else I have to be the bad cop. Usually that's Ruby and she scares me so. Do me the favor.

Dal Tromm, brother.
Too bad most Warhammer Roleplays don't have dedicated players. You'd think the Advanced section would but nah.

I have no idea why but it feels like the 40K and Fantasy scene has the quickest turnover rate of any of the fandoms, with the only real exception I can think of being Star Wars. It's weird, and I have no idea what causes it, but I've yet to join a game that didn't fall off a cliff in two week's time.

I find it kind of ironic that a hobby like ours has a community with such poor retention. Roleplaying games, both of the tabletop and video variety, require hundreds of hours of gameplay to reach completion at times. Writing tends to be one of the longest forms of entertainment we have. Yet when the two end up smashed together, nobody wants to stick around!

Role-Playing is a fickle hobby and has been since I started doing it in 2001. But that's a subject for another thread.

Niche hobby overlapped with another niche hobby into a niche, specific subsection.

Can't say I'm surprised retention is that poor.

Maybe if it's not in a real tabletop setting, people lose interest. We dont have miniatures to paint or armies to throw at each other.

I'm honestly eighty percent sure you're trolling at this point, but I'll bite.

One guy saying he doesn't want to RP with you does not mean there's some site-wide conspiracy to keep the poor, victimized arena posters down.

No I'll drop it when you stop repeating this damn lie. He did want to RP with me, despite me being apart of said sub forum which was why the initial 'I dont RP with arena posters' was stupid. I was pointing out a contradiction. Now maybe because its an uncomfortable truth, it seem to have gotten him and his friends in a huff but I'm not claiming any conspiracy, everyone reacting to it is the only reason we are still talking about it.

@Dynamo Frokane okay dude holy fucking shit, I'll take your bait.

I have, not ever not once, contradicted myself. I have never stated when I got this opinion of Arena, and even when I did, I even knew the first time around full-well that you were a notorious figure around the guild. I decided to give you a shot anyway. Then you decided to have an absolute fucking *meltdown* in your RP and nuke the whole thing for no reason despite having a dedicated playerbase.

Then I was like 'aight, okay.' when I saw you going for the reboot. I'm like "Eh, maybe he'll be an adult about it. We could set our differences aside, I could join his RP and show him I'm not malicious and we could still get along somewhat."

You respond to this by absolutely lashing out against me, refusing to open dialogue and then locking me out of the thread.

You want people to not have a toxic view of arena? Start with self-improvement.

So just to be clear you dont RP with Arena users except when you do?

I think you probably hit that one on the head. With how little you have to invest to get into an RP, it's pretty easy to just give it up partway through. You put down sixty bucks for a game, or you've spent an ungodly amount of money on a bunch of figures, so it's a great deal harder to simply walk away for no other reason than a spell of boredom.

We need a system in place that forces GMs to post within a certain period or their computer sprays them with water.
