“Whoa, whoa. I never said I’m leaving.” James put his hands up and back away a step. “My uncle’s a purifier sympathizer. I go home and he’ll probably just hand me over. Just wasn’t really expecting,” James gestured widely. “This today. You know, wake up, explore, hit the gym, a little work. That’s what I expected. Not to cross the police and piss off half my family but I guess that's life. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and all that.” James shrugged.

“I don’t know anything about this stuff. I’ve ignored it for as long as I could.” James admitted sheepishly. “My power isn’t very obvious so it was easy just to skate by. Not a lot of people notice fast healing unless its big and I made sure to run my tests far away from people.” Now that he thought about it, he was kinda awful. These were technically his people, people who were suffering, and he just hid with those that wanted him locked up or worse. All while people lived hidden away, just struggling to get by.

“I don’t have a lot in the way of powers but I have a dual degree in electrical and mechanical engineering. I’ll help out in whatever way I can as thanks.” James promised.

Leighton Brooks

Location: Outside Target
Skills N/A

Leighton made it past the doorway, aware of the growing stares she was facing and the ever-increasing amount of cold she was leaving behind. Once outside she made a split decision to run off to the side, especially having heard the distant call of sirens. The police would be coming in this direction now and she didn't have the time or the patience to explain.

And then it hit her. Explain what? That for one second she was normal and then all of a sudden she froze a poor boy? She shook her head in disbelief. No, she was not a fre....a mutant. She couldn't be! How had she lived her life up until now without ever knowing? But the proof was there. The detection system going off. The fact she froze that aisle. It was all there.

She hid behind some dumpsters, grossed out but unwilling to move. She closed her eyes. "Okay Leighton, try to control it. Try..." And she let it out again. This time, everything around her spiraled into an icy blast. She cursed under her breath. She had no choice. She couldn't stay around here anymore. So she made a beeline away from the stores and eateries. She needed to get back to her hotel and go back home.

Anastasia Reinhardt

Location: Hellfire HQ
Skills N/A

Anastasia understood the plan now. If the Underground was just destroyed then there was nothing to gain. She wanted a war and she wanted to be at the head of it. The first step would be to find the closest Underground and get inside of it. Easier said than done, of course, but having things be easy was not fun. "Interesting. How fun. You, of course, do not expect this to be done for free. My demands are not much but they are high."

She would wait to see what was offered, but she had already decided to go along with this plan. If anything, it would allow her to see all sides of the growing mutant vs humanity battle and it would give her choices and options as to what side would be the winner and loser. And she would be on the winning side, of course.

Sapphire

Location: Apartment Complex - Balcony
Skills Her Powers

She glanced over at Veil, before looking over at Callie and Colossus. This was not a good situation, not a good situation at all. Hearing Veil telling them to leave her behind, that was basically a suicide run and she was fairly certain that Veil knew it. Sapphire was hesitant, but hearing them needing to get Callie to a hospital or something fast, she sprung into action. Listening to Colossus' suggestion, she froze the road, so it was basically a sheet of ice now. "Get in the car and get her help!" she said to them, before she rushed over to help Veil.

"Not leaving you behind Veil," she said with a slight smirk. She'd already done the jailbird thing by herself once, and she wasn't going to let her friend be stuck there by herself. It usually got incredibly boring, not to mention she had someone that might be able to bail them out. "Besides, who else do you know whose already done the whole imprisoned thing? It sucks a lot, but still, not leaving you Veil, at all. So you can suck it up and deal with it."

@FantasyChic: If I could describe Leighton's luck, it would be lukewarm. (Alright, I can feel you glaring into the screen at me for that pun, so I'll stop lol). The police sirens are getting closer and closer, but the vehicles are speeding off in the direction of the Target, where the initial distress call was placed. They don't seem to notice the modern day Elsa running away like mad, leaving an icy trail behind her.

Eventually, Leighton will come to an intersection. To go straight ahead, she would end up running near a public high school. To go east, it would take her past the police station but would be on the way to her hotel. To go west, she would end up in what seems to be a cool little park. It's not too busy at the moment. There are some cars parked on the side of the road, the windows cracked down slightly due to the heat. There is also a sewer grating not too far from her.

@FantasyChic: "What do you want?" Reeva simply asked Anastasia. She had been at this game for a long time, long enough to know that everyone had a price and it was only a matter of knowing what it was. With the resources of the Hellfire Club, she could make anything Anastasia desired a reality. "Beyond, of course, helping to found a nation - becoming royalty," Reeva said with a smile. Anastasia reminded her so much of herself at that age. And with the crisp blonde hair, Anastasia easily could pass for one of her girls - a fourth to the triplets.

"Name your price, Anastasia."

"Good thinking, Little One," Colossus praised Spark Plug, after she managed to cauterize her own wound. He then quickly carried Spark Plug into the car, getting her settled, and Havok jumped in as well. Colossus hesitated for a moment, looking back at Veil and Sapphire. "Come home safe," he told them, before he gave the car a good push to get it going and he jumped inside. The sled worked magnificently and they were speeding down the road. The clinic was coming into view and Colossus shifted back into his normal, non-metal form.

"Spark Plug, hey, hey wake up," Havok said, incredibly worried and stressed out for her. He gave her a kiss on the forehead, before glancing out the window as Colossus stuck his leg out, turning it into metal, and he made contact with the road, forcing the car to a halt. "Can you walk?" Havok asked.

Meanwhile, back at the apartment complex, Veil sighed a bit and rolled her eyes. "Honestly, you are terrible at following orders Sapphire," she pointed out. The police had the two girls surrounded, aiming guns at them and canisters that contained aerosol temporary inhibitors.

"PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR, YOU ARE UNDER ARREST!"

Veil glanced at Sapphire from the corner of her eye.

"WE WILL OPEN FIRE!"

"We don't have a way out of this," Veil whispered, raising her hands slowly. She just hoped that Spark Plug and the other mutants they had helped would be fine.

Erg and Blink were dutifully leading them through the sewer, knowing the place like the back of their hand. At one point, they even walked through what seemed like a solid wall, later turning out to just be an illusion. Eventually, they walked into a large clearing. People were all over the place, some of them at little repurposed picnic tables playing what looked like cards. Little kids with powers were running in and out of tents, scolded by the occasional grown up as they went by. It was a small little community in the darkness and Erg smiled a bit.

"This is our community - we are the Morlocks," he said, turning to face the three mutants he had found. "You are welcome to stay for the night. Should you wish to join, we require that you take the mark if you do not have a visible mutation such as Blink's," he said, tapping the scarred M on his face. Blink's alien like green eyes and purple markings made it no doubt that she was a mutant.

"You said you know electrical engineering?" Blink asked, curious. James would recognize that the power set up here wasn't great. They were mostly relying on out of date, barely working generators to keep things powered, that way they wouldn't be sitting in the dark. "We're kind of about to collapse into the stone age around here," Blink then joked.

Erg laughed slightly, shaking his head. "At least we have Glow to keep us out of the dark."

"Okay, this is awesome and all and I definitely want to stay, buuut I am also starving," Sunshine pointed out. Her little face was a bit scrunched up, mostly because she was resisting the urge to go and fight someone for a chocolate bar. Her stomach was audibly grumbly and Erg nodded, leading them over to a little table. Once they were sat down, he returned with a few bowls of what looked like chili. He then handed each of them a juice box.

"Now this is more like it!" Sunshine exclaimed, before she started wolfing down her food like a wild child.

"Your daughter's cute," Blink said to James and Grey with a smile.

Callie slowly opened her eyes and gave Colossus a slight smile, she just really wanted to go and sleep right now as she was carried into the car. At least the bleeding was stopped for now, and wouldn't bleed out she could barely see Sapphire going after veil after she froze the road to get them to where she needed the most. Callie rested in the back seat of the car, a they moved and eventually they were at the clinic now. Callie opened her eyes again and groaned slightly when Havok kissed her forehead, and slowly prepped herself back up looking over at him.

"Ewww guy germs.." Callie said, jokingly trying to lighten the mood a little bit, as she gave him a slight nod and slowly pulled herself up and out of the car. "I'll manage, thanks for the concern." Callie said as she slowly walked her way towards the clinic holding her chest, and pushed open the door looking around at anyone who was inside. She was grateful for their help, Callie then started to worry about Veil and Sapphire, they would certainly be in a lot of trouble now and certainly be arrested as well to. "I need a doctor now please." Callie said as she leaned herself up against the closest wall inside of the clinic breathing heavily.

James Kingston

Location: The Morlock Tunnels
Skills: Electrical Wiring

James sputtered and coughed at the mention of daughter. Not only was he twenty four, he count count the number of dates he had on one hand. Sure an occasional make out session here and there but nothing further! He was practically still a child himself. Definitely not ready to be a parent. And now with all this going on, definitely not ready for a relationship. Not until he got a handle of his new situation.

“Okay well, um I actually have no idea who either of these people are outside of their names. Cool people for sure but uh, I met them just before I met you.” James explained, eating between words. “But if that was a first date, definitely the most exciting I’ve been on! Real phone number is still on the fence though. Not a first man hunt kinda guy, you know?” He joked through his embarrassment.

James did take a moment to cast a critical eye over the electrical set up like Blink asked. Out of date generators, crumbling insulation, frayed wiring, corroded panels and plates… James initial response to Blink’s request would demand whatever black magic they employed because there is zero reason any of this should still function. However, they were doing the best they could in a horrible situation and that was commendable at the very least.

“I’d need to look inside the generators to finish my eval but your setup is on its last legs. You’ve got generator failure at best, a fire trap at worst.” James spoke bluntly. It seemed like they relied on this setup too much to sugar coat it. “Uh, wire stripper, a few crimp wire connectors, a hand full of wire nuts, and preferably a heat strength tube seal or seven should fix up the general wiring issues. If you guys are okay doing some blackouts, I can pop open your generators and see how bad the corrosion is and how its holding up inside.”

Max awkwardly rubbed his arm at the mention of a daughter. A nervous laughter began to emerge at the thought of James and him being together."I don't think I'm quite ready to be a father yet." Max barely spat out as he took a couple steps away from James, his eyes looking back at him every so often. The defenses were amazing, illusionary walls, genius. However the actual base...was left to be desired for. This was no way to make a living theyd need new clothes, sheets, blankets, tarps, the list went on. His eyes began to dance around the room from mutant to mutant, checking their expressions as well as wondering what powers they may hold.

As they made their way towards the chili, James felt the need to spew a few dad jokes, probably to let go of some of the awkward tension that built up from being called a father. He mentioned he was twenty four years old, funny he looked about Max's age but I guess he just aged gracefully. Max's eyes looked away again as he realized the six year gap between the two. That would never work, besides he barely knew him. "I'm eighteen so if you're not ready to be a father, I definitely am no where near it. Thank you for the food by the way. It's much better than having meal supplements and protein bars every day, gotta keep the strength up though. Its not easy ripping into the cosmic fabric of space/time to manifest my desires...or at least the ones that are given to me by an unknown force." Max shrugged and grabbed a bowl of chili, eating it slowly and savoring every bite.

Leighton Brooks

Location: The Streets of D.C.

Leighton had rushed forward without thinking. She had to get away. She heard the distant sound of sirens, figuring they had arrived or would be arriving at Target soon. She needed to get out of sight. She came to a crossroads. Her hotel was one way, but it was past the police station. She would have to be careful then and she was literally shooting ice. A park was nearby and it didn't seem busy, but that could change.

Then she noticed the sewer. It was bad enough she almost had to hide in a dumpster and now...was she really considering? It was not something she would have done under normal circumstances, but this was beyond normal. This was...wrong. How could she do this? She wasn't a fre...a mutant. She couldn't be!

She shook her head and resolved herself. Running to the sewer, she opened it up and shot in.

Anastasia Reinhardt

Location: Hellfire HQ

Anastasia pretended to give it some thought, but she knew what she wanted. It was what she always wanted. "Oh, you know. What every young girl wants really. A large mansion with plenty of servants to do my every bidding. I want to be revered and worshipped. I want people on their knees when they address me. Oh, and a puppy." Anastasia's face showed no emotion behind it, even if her words did. She knew her demands weren't morally just, but she did not care.

"Provided you were not kidding when you suggested royalty, I believe these demands can be met. I accept the mission then. Any particular one you wish me to hit first or is it fair game?" She positively shook with anticipation but that would show her hand too quickly. After all, she didn't trust this woman as far as she could have her throw herself. That would be stupid. She had just met her, after all.

But the prospect of being above others was to titillating to pass up.

Sapphire

Sapphire nodded her head slightly at Colossus, mainly hoping that they can get Spark Plug to a clinic in time. "Do you have any better ideas? The odds of you getting out of this are slim, so excuse me for not wanting to leave you by yourself," she said with an eye roll at Veil. Of course Veil likely would make comments about them both being arrested, but she didn't care. She wasn't going to leave her friend to deal with all of this alone. Being arrested was the least of her concerns, but the memories from the incident involving OMEN, and how she ended up stuck there, they still scorched her memories, and she was a bit worried that they might have to deal with that.

Hearing Veil's words, Sapphire took a look around them. Her sense of reason was telling her that Veil was right, that they were basically trapped and couldn't get out of this situation. Now the other part of her brain was starting to panic. She did not want to be caught, at all, but she knew that if she kept panicking she'd make things worse. Slowly, Sapphire raised her hands into the air, but they still had a slight frost to them, it wasn't something she could easily stop, since she was freaking out at the moment.

@FantasyChic: Leighton rolled a perfect 20 for luck. A perfect freaking 20. As she enters the sewers, not only will she largely manage to get her ice manipulation ability under control, but she'll be able to hear voices in the distance. She's practically on top of the Morlock tunnels. There's two directions that she can go, but neither of them seem to get her closer to the voices. If anything, the voices seem to be coming... from through the wall of the sewer?

@FantasyChic: Reeva smiled slightly. The beginning of the list was more or less what she had expected. Her girls didn't have to tell her what Anastasia wanted - it was easy to see when she looked at her. However, it was the puppy that caused the smile. Sometimes, it was easy to forget that at the end of the day, they were just people. Anastasia was just a kid. And she wanted a puppy. "Purebred or mutt?" Reeva asked. "As for who to hit first... Just the Washington D.C. station in particular. Otherwise, it's dealer's choice."

@Nallore: "I think guy germs are the least of your problems right now," Havok said with a smirk, trying to keep the mood light. He knew that there was a good chance either the police or the Purifiers would end up at the clinic looking for them. But they didn't have any other choice. If Spark Plug didn't see a doctor, then she would die and he refused to let that happen.

"She has bullet wound," Colossus explained, as a nurse ran on over and got Spark Plug onto a gurney. "Do you know her medical history, blood type?" the nurse asked. Her name tag identified her as Caitlin S. as they wheeled Spark Plug over into a private room. A doctor was then sent for as well, but the clinic was always frantic and at the moment, Caitlin was their best shot.

Havok thought for a moment. "A+," he said and the nurse nodded, getting a blood transfusion ready to go. "You're lucky, we have some on hand."

Veil

Location: MCU Truck
Skills: N/A
"I know - this isn't a mission we're going to have an easy time returning from," Veil admitted quietly. The Mutant Underground didn't have a lot of resources in terms of lawyers and whatnot. It also didn't help that in general, the public had a unfavorable view of mutants and that wasn't the greatest for juries in trials. Sure, they were founded by Professor Charles Xavier but they didn't get a lot of help from the X-Men. However, she could think of one or two people they might be able to call, but it was a long shot.

"Don't give them any information on the Underground," Veil muttered to her friend under her breath. The cops came forward and put cuffs and collars on them. If they tried to use their powers, they'd be shocked. A truck pulled out with MCU labeled on the side - the Mutant Containment Unit of the local police.

Veil and Sapphire were then loaded into the truck, their cuffs hooked up to shackles binding them to the metal posts.

"Hope neither of the freaks control metal," one of the guards mused. He had a huge gun and was staring at the girls.

"Nah, these muties aren't that strong - y'know the girls can't do stuff like that."

"Really?" the other asked, curious. "I didn't know that."

"Yeah man! Why do you think it's the X-Men and not the X-Women?"

Sunshine

Location: the Morlock Tunnels
Skills: N/A

"Oh," Blink said, a little surprised at that. She had assumed that they were a family - two gay dads and an adopted mutant daughter. Mutants on the run tended to make little family sub units like that from time to time, but of course it wasn't always the case. "Well even if you aren't an actual family - you have some nice aesthetics going on," she joked.

Erg then chuckled slightly at Max's joke. The leader of the Morlocks really liked these guys - they were making a good impression on him. "Puh-lease, you guys wish you were my dads. I'm kind of a big deal," Sunshine said, talking with her mouth full. She didn't even really pause to breathe, with Erg watching her intently like this was some sort of sport.

"I do not doubt that," he told Sunshine with a smile, before Erg returned his attention to the adults. "We can do some blackouts," Erg said, before he nodded at Blink. Blink then walked over to fetch someone, eventually coming back with the Morlock named Glow. "Glow, think you can give us some light while he checks things out?"

Glow nodded, holding out her hands and little orbs of light began to appear. They scattered around the Morlock tunnels, lighting the area while Erg went and shut off the generators, allowing James to get to work.

Callie laughed awkwardly at Havok's joke as a nurse quickly came over to her, getting a good look at her nametag that was on her shirt, letting out a slight groan as she was laid onto a gurney. She took a moment and gave both Havok and Colossus a friendly smile, Callie wasn't sure how long she would be in surgery or if she would even survive it either. She was wheeled off towards a private room, surprised that Havok knew her blood type as well.

"One or both of you guys should leave and tell the others what happened, Purifiers and the police are probably going to search the area. I'll be completely fine." Callie suggested, letting Caitlin get the blood transfusion started as well. Veil and Sapphire both got themselves arrested, just so that she and the other mutants from the apartment complex could make it out alive. Callie didn't want both Havok and Colossus to get killed by some Purifiers or caught by the local police either.

Sapphire

Sapphire nodded at Veil, trying her best to keep calm, so she decided to kind of correct the guards who were with them, and slightly annoyed that they seemed to be a bit of a sexist. "You idiots do realize that the leader of the X-Men is a woman right? Or are you all to dumb to understand things like that." she said with a slight eye roll, though even that quip didn't have her usual sort of bite that usually accompanies her words of mocking.

She was fairly panicked, and couldn't do anything about it at all. With the collars on them, she couldn't use her powers, and any sort of attempt results in shocks, which is exactly what was happening to her. With her fear of prisons and being caught, her body was trying to do the fight or flight response, with her now brunette hair trying to turn white. She kept getting shocked from her panicking, and she had no idea what to do to calm down and stop it.

Jack Theriot

Location: The Morlock Tunnels

Jack was mainly wandering around the tunnels, he was a bit of an outcast even among the Morlocks. Since after all, he did tend to interact with the world up above on a daily basis, not to mention he looked completely normal, without even a trace of the M brand or whatever it was on him. Yup, he was just a normal looking person, but he really wanted to do some good, which was the main reason he had joined the Morlocks. He wanted to help them out, not to mention he was trying to convince his drug addict of a half-brother to join him, since that likely would help him out when it came to his problems.

Hearing the voices of the others, he wandered over, giving a bit of a smile at the group. "How come no one told me we have guests down here? They aren't too common thought that would be a cause for a celebration of sorts," he said, somewhat puffing out his chest for a moment, before he stopped and started laughing slightly, before he glanced over at Sunshine. "Now who is this little lady? Name's Jack Theriot, though everyone calls me Stretch or just Jack is fine. Or there is my other nickname, Pinocchio! Which I get for my nose tending to grow," he said before his nose stretched out in length, just like Pinocchio's nose, before snapping back to normal. "So, what brings you all here?"

“You are pretty great. You saved us today.” James agreed with Sunshine while simultaneously ignoring whatever it was Max said. Not that he disliked the guy but James honestly had zero idea what he came out of his mouth. Something about space and time and it sounded a lot more like theoretical physics than he was comfortable with. James waved at Jack, eyebrows shooting up in surprise at the stretch. That was pretty cool. Seemed like it had a lot of potential. “Hey, I’m gonna go poke around their equipment. I’ll be right back.” He said to Max.

James followed Erg, prying open the generators carefully and whistled. Same as the rest of the set up. If they had the luxury of money, James would have suggested just replacing them all together but whatever luck they had seemed to be poured into keeping them out of the dark. He’d need all of the key components to get them working at the proper output and without acting as a massive safety hazard. James hissed through his teeth, explaining the issues to Erg as he went along.

“Honestly, these guys are about as stable as the rest of your kit here. If generators weren’t so bulky I’d say just replace them but we should be able to find some stuff at a junkyard or home improvement store to patch ‘em up with.” James explained, pointing out everything he would need. He just prayed the things didn’t fall apart when they turned them back on. It was a miracle they were running in the first place.

A big deal? Sure her powers were handy, but she seemed more like a big liability than a big deal. Max watched in amusement as Glow began to light up the sewers. "Woah." The lights began to dance around the tunnel until the lit up the area for Erg to begin the blackout. "I know this isn't Dungeons and Dragons but...that's clearly dancing lights and I cant wait to see more." He began to follow one of the orbitals for a few steps before he was caught off guard by another mutant. Stretch, was his name, and making horrible jokes seemed to be his game. Although, how much is he able to stretch?

Max shook the idea out of his head and offered a hand to Jack. "Names Tome, I uh...well it's kinda hard to say, so let's just say I'm a sorcerer. As for why we are all here, we had some run in with the authorities, being mutants and all. Sunshine and I held them back long enough to make a break into the sewers, after a while of getting lost we ran into Blink and Erg who kindly let us take refuge here. Speaking of, they mentioned getting branded like Hester Prynne, but I dont seem to see the mark on you. Are you not a Morlock?" Max looked Jack up and down, searching for any hint of the brand onto his body. As he examined him he realised, he may not know how old Stretch was, but he was really fine looking.

Leighton managed to get into the sewer without much effort. Good for her, she supposed, but now she was in a sewer. Thankfully, she managed to regain control of whatever the hell was going on with her body. No more ice was forming. She looked at her hands and shook her head. She was going insane. That had to be it. Something in the air made her sick and delirious.

However, she thought she could hear voices. Surely she would be alone in a sewer? She glanced around, able to pick up where she heard it. A wall stood in front of her. She touched it and found her hand passing through it. She nearly screamed but held it in. She continued forward through the wall.

And what stood before her was something she had not expected to be underneath the streets of D.C. It looked like a makeshift home for homeless people but seemed better put together. And there were people. Had she stumbled on something dangerous? She looked around, unsure what to do.

"Purebread. I wouldn't be caught dead with some average mutt." Anastasia had anticipated her fee would be met, though to what extent she hadn't figured out yet. After all, if this organization was as powerful as appearances shown, would they be comfortable having her rule in any form? She stood up and picked up the files with her, holding them in her arms.

"Do I have any assets at my disposal from you or am I on my own. I've no preference as I will be able to get whatever I need anyway. Just sensing the scope of how far you plan to back me up." She had a plan in her head anyway and she would need to go do some shopping. She would appear to be a down on her luck teenager, running from home due to her abilities. She would have to lie about them also.

Not an issue, she thought. She lied every day.

@FantasyChic: "If you need anything, I can see to it that it is provided," Reeva explained. She then pulled a burner phone out of her purse and she handed it to Anastasia. "I'll have one of my men - Fade - nearby. This phone has his number programmed into it, as well as mine and the girls. If you need anything additional technology wise, I suggest you speak to Sage before you leave." Sage was the computer genius of the Hellfire Club. Why? It was simple enough. Her mutation was that Sage's mind essentially was a computer. Telepaths couldn't even read it, just hearing a string of 0's and 1's in binary code.

@Nallore: Colossus nodded slightly. "You are very brave, Spark Plug," he said, but it was clear that he wasn't making any sort of motion to leave. Neither was Havok. In fact, the Hula Hooping mutant was more or less smirking at Callie as she was on the bed and Caitlin was doing her best to help her. "Nice try, but you can't get rid of me that easily, kiddo," he said with a bit of a chuckle.

However, the nurse was running into some problems. While Spark Plug had managed to stop the bleeding, she had started to notice something abnormal about her blood. It was as if Spark Plug's blood cells were charged with electricity - meaning that Caitlin had no idea if her body would even accept the transfusion properly. "Do either of you have an X-gene relating to energy manipulation of some sorts?" Caitlin asked.

"I do," Havok said. "But I'm B+," he then admitted, grimacing. Colossus shook his head at Caitlin. He didn't have that sort of power.

"Alright, I'm going to go and see if any of the other patients here have blood similar to hers. If not, I have an idea... Keep her awake and talking, okay?" Caitlin instructed, before she quickly left the room.

Veil

Location: MCU Truck
Skills: N/A
The police officers in the truck laughed, shaking their heads at Sapphire. "Yeah and so is the goddamn president," one of them jeered. To them, the leader of the X-Men was an old rich bald man who seemed to most likely be British. Not only did they hate Xavier for being a mutant, but he was a foreigner in their minds - an outsider who was infringing on American interests.

"You know, if a woman could be the leader of the X-Men, wouldn't they have changed the name?" his buddy chimed in.

"They aren't worth reasoning with, Sapphire," Veil muttered. One of the officers then walked up, holding his nightstick, and he hit the two of them over the head. His buddies roared with laughter, enjoying a little bit of fun as they beat up defenseless women on the way. No one would bat a second eye if a pair of muties went to jail looking a little worse than they had when taken into custody, anyways.

"You'd look real pretty in your mugshots if you smiled, girls," a third officer spoke up. "Blow me a kiss, will ya? I heard muties are real freaks in the sack if you know what I mean."

"Don't give them the satisfaction of making you angry..." This time, Veil was more or less talking to herself. She knew that if her emotions got out of control, she'd start to flicker in and out of sight. The collar would trigger and she would be shocked within an inch of her life. The officers would claim they were afraid for their lives and they would be shot. The only way they could get out of this would be to hold their head down.

And it was killing Veil to have to do that.

Sunshine

Location: the Morlock Tunnels
Skills: N/A

Erg's expression tightened as Stretch came over. It was more than obvious that he wasn't fond of the man. In fact, as Stretch started talking to Sunshine, Erg's hands clenched into fists, as if he were a witness to the corruption of America's youth. "We can do a supply run tomorrow," Erg told James, though he continued to stare in Stretch's direction. If looks could kill, Stretch would have been a cautionary tale for those who dared face the wrath of Erg. "There's a warehouse that Blink can portal you into - its security is dismal at best, especially on a slow Tuesday," he explained.

Back over with the others, Glow tilted her head slightly at Gray. "Dancing Lights?" she repeated, clearly confused. "What's Dungeon and Dragons? Is that some sort of dance routine or something?" she then asked. Although she didn't know a lot about nerd culture, Glow did seem very sweet and genuinely interested in what Gray had to say.

"Probably because no one realized you were here today," Blink shot back at Stretch, smirking a bit. She put a hand on his shoulder. "Try not to freak them out, okay?" Blink then waved at the others and headed off, going over into a corner where some little kids seemed to be playing. When they saw her, they got all happy and excited and they began to play in a group.

Sunshine wasn't too interested in what was going on around her, more of focused with the food in front of her. She was hitting the bottom of her bowl and she stuck her fingers in it, wiping them around to clean off the sides and then sticking them in her mouth. By the time she was done, Sunshine wiped her fingers clean on her arm and then glanced at Stretch, looking like she was sizing him up.

"Does this hurt?" Sunshine then asked him, standing up on her seat and grabbing his nose. She then started to pull as hard as she could, stretching and then adjusting her grip and stretching more and more, waiting for a snap but it never came.

Callie Johnson

Location: Medical Clinic
Skills: N/A

Callie stared at both Havok and Colossus who both refused to leave her behind, which made her smile slightly she didn't really want to be alone right now and was glad for that. "I hate you both." Callie said jokingly and laughed awkwardly while holding her sides she was hurting a lot still. Letting Caitlin continue to get the blood work set up, she wasn't really sure what the issue was but she also wasn't really a doctor either. She watched as Caitlin got out and left to find a proper blood donor for her, and turned back to look over at the two of them.

"At least call the others, tell them what happened or something." Callie said softly, she wanted to make sure that the others at the Underground knew what had happened, her being shot, and both Veil and Sapphire getting captured wasn't good news at all. She started to look around the room a little bit before looking over at Havok. "When did you become a medical expert anyway?" Callie asked as much as she was tired and wanted to sleep and in so much pain she was still fighting to stay awake.

"Oh, I know they aren't worth reasoning with, honestly it definitely is not worth reasoning with a pair of idiots like them, there are way better things to do with our time than think they actually have any sort of brains to use," Sapphire said with a slight laugh, knowing that was probably a very dumb thing to say. The problem is that her instant defense to stop panicking is to make snide remarks and insult people, and she was trying a lot not to get zapped by the collars anymore.

This was going to end badly, that much she knew, but hey, if odds were that she was going to get beaten up already, might as well keep going with the insults. "Honestly, not like these people have enough brains between them to do basic addition probably, bet they know absolutely nothing about what their jobs are. Seriously, I've been caught by people like them before, seriously, on the scale of really bad at their jobs to really good at their jobs I have to rate them in the negative numbers of really bad at their jobs."

Jack Theriot

"Erg? Being nice? I never thought that was possible," Jack said with a slight smile at Erg, before he decided to address the rest of what Max said. "As for am I a Morlock or not, well, yeah I am, just I don't have the mark on me cause my skin is like silly putty or play dough half the time," he said as he shook Max's hand, his hand felt a little strange, not quite completely solid. "And why do you think I'd freak them out! You honestly think too little of me clearly," he said to Blink with a grin. When Sunshine grabbed his nose and caused it to stretch, "Ouch!" he said suddenly, before he stretched his arm out to get her to let go, before his arm and his nose snapped back into place. "Just kidding, didn't feel a thing."

"Ooh, I've got a great," he said, before he turned away from them, ducking his head down so they couldn't see him. A moment later, when he stood up straight again and turned around, he now looked exactly like the one and only Captain America. "I'm so patriotic and everyone trusts just about everything I say!" he said, before he started laughing, he turned around again, before going back to looking like himself. "But yeah, no point in me getting that mark at all. Oh, and Erg doesn't like me cause I actually interact with the world above the sewers and out of the tunnels... He hates that, but eh, how else am I supposed to keep an eye on my troublesome family members and help out the Morlocks? Not too many options."

James Kingston

Location: The Morlock Tunnels
Skills: N/A

”Sounds like a plan.” James grunted as he finished his inspection of a particularly stubborn piece of the generator. He stood, brushing his hands off on his pants, and took in the little group. Their situation was absolute garbage but something about they all banded together man everything seem a little better. He missed those times, back before he discovered his abilities and the hardest decision of his way was which cereal he wanted for breakfast. But any semblance of that died years ago. He shook that thought away and watched Sunshine and Ralph do…whatever that was. James shook his head with a chuckle. But then a new face caught his attention. He elbowed Erg lightly, nodding his head at the new arrival.

“She looks a bit lost.” James pointed her out. The girl was definitely out of place; she screamed high life living. A lot like Max oddly. James considered approaching her but this wasn’t his home and he wasn’t sure how they handled unexpected arrivals. He’d wait for someone else before saying hi but for now, he made his way back over to Max and Sunshine. He smiled fondly at where Blink and children played.

He’d have to consider it a bit but maybe staying here wasn’t such a bad idea. It’d be like having a family that didn't hate you. But Erg’s comment of taking the mark made that thought pause. Could he do that with his power or would it just disappear? Maybe they had a special method or something. Something to consider later as he slid back onto the bench.

Maximillian Gray

Location: The Morlock Tunnels
Skills:

Max was unsure if the woman was genuinely confused yet interested, or if she was mocking him to some extent. "Um. No. Its...So it's a game that you play on a table top. You pretend to be these heros, adventurers, on a quest to defeat a great evil. Theres magic in it, well because it's a fantasy setting, and one of the cantrips, that's a 0th level spell essentially, is called Dancing Lights and it's essentially what you've done here. I believe the description for the spell is 'You create up to four torch-sized lights within range, making them appear as torches, lanterns, or glowing orbs that hover in the air for the duration. You can also combine the four lights into one glowing vaguely humanoid form of Medium size. Whichever form you choose, each light sheds dim light in a 10-foot radius.' Or you know, something like that." He laughed nervously, pretending as if he wasnt fully aware that that was the exact description that hed memorized from his countless times playing D&D.

Max tried to ignore the worlds oddest foreplay by Sunshine and Stretch as he spoke to Glow. Waiting for Stretch to finally acknowledge and answer his question, and after a moment he did, and not too soon either. "Oh. So there's no way to be a Morlock and not have to brand myself as well. I want to help, I really do but...I'm only 18 and that is a permanent brand on me. Perhaps if it was somewhere less visible than my face but..." Max spoke softly, trailing off as he watched someone enter the hidden area but seemingly confused. He wasn't sure if she was new here as well, but she did seem to have style. Max took a few steps towards her, patting Stretch on his shoulder as he made his way past him and offered a clean hand to the new comer. "Hey, names Tome. What's yours?"
