@BladeSS4@Darkmoon Angel@FalloutJackHello Everyone,
I hope all is well. I am posting now to say that I'm adding to my routine. Besides being online from 3:00pm to 7:00pm (EST) every Thursday. I will also be online for
one hour every weekday morning (i.e. Monday through Friday).
This way, even if I don't have a post ready, I can at least respond to questions quickly.
Also, I would like to update our battle system, and update your characters.Starting with your characters, I would like everyone to increase their character's power level by 10.
Everyone should now have 110 power. From this point forward, let it be known, that the Human species has the ability to increase their max level by 10% every day (given they have battled strong enough opponents in that day). Since, we are in the middle of the World Martial Arts Tournament, and there are plenty of battles that took place off screen, if you will, it stands to reason your characters will get their maximum gains.
Now, for the update to the battle system. We are going to make battles more strategic by allowing you to split the use of your power level in three ways.
Attack - Speed - Defense. In other words, if your total level is 110, you can split 110 between these three focuses.
Attack Power will be treated similarly to how it has been in the past (with a few modifications). Your Attack stat will be rolled, dealing a minimum damage of
50% of the Attack power put in. So, if you put 50 points into your attack, it will do a minimum damage of 25. Also, there is still a 10% recoil on your attacks, so in this scenario, you would take 5 recoil damage.
Defense is the new way to block damage from your opponent. With Defense, there is no rolling of dice. You simply reduce damage taken by
half the amount of points spent on Defense. So if you put 50 points on defense, you're going to block 25 points of damage, regardless. And there is no recoil on defense.
Speed also does not require a dice roll. With speed, you divide however many points you dedicate to the speed stat by 4, and then add that number to both damage dealt to the opponent and damage blocked. It is the least efficient way to deal damage and block damage, but it's real purpose is neither of these things. The real purpose is to be a tie breaker when both combatants would otherwise be defeated. Whenever two people battle, the person that put less points on speed will take damage first. Then, granted they are not defeated, the other person will take damage. But if they are defeated, the other person (the one who spent more points on Speed) takes 0 damage.
In conclusion, from now on, when you make a battle post, the bottom of your post should look something like this...
Combo Attack, Power 110
- Attack 40; Speed 30; Defense 40
Also, with the addition of these three focuses, you need to add one new field to your character sheets. This field is called "Focuses" and it has been added to the first post in the Character's tab section. Basically, this is where you decide what kind of fighter you are creating. Refer to that post to understand what I mean, but basically, if your character has "Focuses" that look like "Attack > Defense > Speed" then you can't put more points on Defense than Attack, and you can't put more points on Speed than Defense or Attack. You can however make all three equal.
Finally, keep in mind that when you're battling, your total Power is brought down by 50% of whatever damage you have taken up to that point.
With these updates, you will probably want to use all of your available Power, every single time, rather than cutting it short because you don't want as much recoil. Instead, you will just dedicate more points to Defense or Speed, rather than putting it all on Attack.
Thank you for taking the time to read this long post. I hope everyone understands and appreciates the changes, as I believe they will make battles a lot more strategic and interesting. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
I will be back online to answer questions tomorrow morning.
