Salvation—the right to exist.

Once upon a time that was a man's single wish. However, he didn't want that neither for himself nor his bloodkin. Those tainted by the weight of their sins have no right to wish for a future other than to return to the Dust from which all are made and be forgotten.

No, that man wished something greater. He wished for all of Mankind to be saved—to be spared of the dire fate waiting for them beyond the horizon.

The fate he saw with his own eyes.

Nevertheless, such wish—small and childish as it may be—is well beyond the grasp of any man.

For that to happen, one would need to sacrifice more than he could ever hope to gain in return. Unless a miracle happened. Unless a shining light of hope descended upon us.

An almighty tool to grant any wishes. The last hope of mankind...

— The Holy Grail War —

The all-out, bloody battle royale between Seven Mages for the right to pray upon the Holy Grail for any wish their hearts desired.

Or so a man thought.

However, no matter how much he sought, how far he traveled, he would never find a place, a world, where his wish could be granted. All of the Holy Grails he ever came across were fakes—empty cups, wells of curses, broken contraptions—well below what he sought.

A perfect, golden cup filled with nothing but blessings. A tool with which Humanity can surpass the Gods who long since turned their back on us, Fate and its cruel hand, and even the dying wishes of a Star outlived by its Children.

"If there's none to be found, I'll have to make my own..."

With these words his fate was sealed. If there was no true Holy Grail War upon which he could pray for his single wish, he would have to make his own.

All that was needed now was a Vessel and...

In a small city, of a tiny island, in the bosom of a lone, twinkling Star...

A Holy Grail War not unlike many others, in many different worlds and times, was about to begin. Seven Masters and seven Servants vying for the right to kneel down and make a single prayer.

In the heart of this conflict—The First Holy Grail War—laid a man and his quest to fulfill a single wish which was worth sacrificing everything for.

— The Story —

First of all, thank you for reading so far and apologies for the lengthy intro. I needed to lay down some groundwork to make this simpler.

If you clicked this, I assume that you know what the Fate Franchise is about, and all of the intricacies surrounding the many types of Holy Grail Wars, the Holy Grail itself, Masters, and Servants.

This story will follow the classic Fuyuki-style of Holy Grail War. In fact, it is going to be held at the heart of the Holy Grail Wars, the place that began it all, Fuyuki City itself.

However, the battle royale component isn't the main purpose of this story. Unbeknownst to anyone at the beginning of the story, the true objective lies deeper under the surface of what looks like to be just a another bloody ritual.

Uncovering the Truth of and working together to overcome it are the keys to survival. But, can you really trust someone who's fighting with tooth and nail for the same prize as you?

A few key points of interest before we move to what interests everyone the most:
— The story will happen on late December of 2015.

— Players aren't forbidden—in fact, they are encouraged—to engage in all sorts of interactions with other players be them hostile or not.

— Even battles to the death won't be discouraged—and are very much expected—thanks to the fact that, anyone who dies during the conflict will come back to life in the very next dawn.

— Naturally, everyone will just forget any circumstances that led to a death. Memories, recordings, and even Noble Phantasms being altered to make the encounter seem like it ended in a circumstance that forced the losing pair to retreat.

— This isn't a time loop, however. As far as anyone can tell, there's no difference in the flow of time. The days and hours go by without any discernible pattern, or so it seems.

— Furthermore, no one is trapped in Fuyuki as well. Aside from the normal consequences of leaving the Holy Grail War's staging grounds, there are no consequences for those who go away. In other words, this isn't a pocket dimension, Singularity, Lost Belt, or anything similar either.

— There's a perfectly abnormal explanation for the imperfectly normal world.

— One last thing, you are allowed to change characters (both Masters and Servants) upon death. You can even trade Servant Classes—with the approval of the current user of that Class. Once again everyone's memories will be just slightly tweaked to match the new reality as soon as dawn comes.

With that said, we finally move to the meat of the story.

• Name: Self Explanatory. You can play canon, or canon-related, characters as long as you can keep them from going OOC.
• Age: No children (age 14 and below), or overtly unnaturally old (above 200 years), Masters, please.
• Appearance: A drawing, text description, or both are all good. Just avoid real life photos, paintings, statues, and the likes of it for consistency reasons.

• Magecraft: Only relevant information, please. Like their overall skill, specialty, any favorite/trademark spells, and sorcery traits. If you feel like adding information of Ranks, Origins, Elements, etc, do so in the Extra Info section.

Servants

• Class: Only the seven basic Classes (Saber, Archer, Lancer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker) will be available for this story.
• True Name: No needlessly overpowered Heroic Spirits, joke characters, Divine Spirits, etc. Heroic Spirits that exist in different forms in different branches of the Greater History of Mankind (e.g.: Arthur and Artoria) are allowed in either of their forms, however, both can't be present at the same time. East Asian Servants aren't banned, but Staging Grounds bonuses won't apply to them either.
• Alignment:

  She lost her life after being cruelly betrayed by the brother she still worships up to this day. Yet, the chronicles of her adventures inspire people to this day. A tragic hero through and through.

      A brilliant slash using Usumidori. This attack, delivered after a Shukuchi footwork of the Tengu's, is difficult to avoid.

      Creates an imitation of Musashibou Benkei's body alone. The more faith Ushiwakamaru has in Benkei, the stronger the body is, making it a sturdy shield. It can block up to B-rank Anti-Army Noble Phantasms

    • Type: Anti-Unit Secret Technique
      

      The manifestation of the feat of leaping eight boats that Yoshitsune displayed at Dan-no-ura. No matter how difficult the terrain, leaping movements are possible as long as there is even the slightest foothold. This technique also enhances Ushiwakamaru's jumping power.

    • Name: Act 5 — Hoemaru「Spider Slayer」
    • Type: Anti-Army Secret Technique
      

      Unleashes Usumidori's true power. It repels demons in the area, and deals additional sonic damage.

    • Name: Act 6 — Kikenjou「Icicle Cutting」
    • Type: Anti-Army Secret Technique
      

      An extremely fast spinning slash. The wind it generates protects Ushiwakamaru like a shield. As long as she continues to spin, even crossing a sea of flames will cause her no harm.

• Extra Info: In addition to all of the above abilities, Ushiwakamaru can summon her mount, Tayuuguro, an splendid steed beloved by her.
  
  Because of the combination of her Skills and Noble Phantasm, the + on Ushiwakamaru's agility is nearly permanently active which makes her dazzling fast by Servant's standards.

True Name: Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino (Raphael)

Bio: Raphael was an Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance. His work is admired for its clarity of form, ease of composition, and visual achievement of the Neoplatonic ideal of human grandeur. Together with Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, he forms the traditional trinity of great masters of that period.
Raphael was enormously productive, running an unusually large workshop and, despite his death at 37, leaving a large body of work. Many of his works are found in the Vatican Palace, where the frescoed Raphael Rooms were the central, and the largest, work of his career. The best known work is The School of Athens in the Vatican Stanza della Segnatura. After his early years in Rome, much of his work was executed by his workshop from his drawings. He was extremely influential in his lifetime, though outside Rome his work was mostly known from his collaborative printmaking.
After his death, the influence of his great rival Michelangelo was more widespread until the 18th and 19th centuries, when Raphael's more serene and harmonious qualities were again regarded as the highest models.

- Territory Creation A+: Vasari says that Raphael eventually had a workshop of fifty pupils and assistants, many of whom later became significant artists in their own right. This was arguably the largest workshop team assembled under any single old master painter, and much higher than the norm. This is partially true. These pupils and assistants were in reality a collection of automatons he had created himself. Ones that could copy his delicate brush strokes. Covering them in paints and clothing to make them impossible to discern from humans. as such, his workshop is greater than any other workshop of his time, including that of the fabulous Da Vinci. Thus the rank.
- Item Construction A: A Caster-class Skill. It is the Skill to manufacture magical items, from implements of war to items for daily use. Also, this Skill requires time to gather components and manufacture items. Raphael is a genius of the arts. A mastercraft who's works echo through history. He was the pioneer of the arts in his time. It is possible for him to make automatons that are perfect replicas of people, to a point where one might live with one for years, and not even realize they're fakes.

Personal Skills:

- Natural Born Genius A: A Skill that shows one who has unparalleled natural knowledge. Allows the use of most Skills, excluding those inherent to the body (such as Divinity) or ones unique to particular heroes, at proficiency of A~B Rank. As a genius of his era, there is no doubt in the mind that Raphael deserves such a skill. But it is limited in a way. As he is not the 'omnipotent' genius of Da Vinci, nor was he a wild eccentric, he is fit only to be a genius, rather than a wild madman who would possess this skill at EX.
- Familiars (Automatons) C: Raphael is never alone. Rather he is surrounded by his pupils. A series of automatons that exist to copy and replicate his genius work. Because they went on to become talented artists after his death, these automatons are all viable casters in their own sense. But as their genius comes from Raphael, they are effectively incapable of creating things that he himself cannot make.
- Pioneer of the Stars EX: The unique Skill given to heroes that became turning points in human history. All difficult voyages and challenges which are considered "impossible" turn into "events that can be realized". A genius of the arts, who followed the rules, but somehow managed to create something beyond them. He is one who works within the confines of human knowledge to create true art. Impossible to replicate.

Description: The genius of Raphael is in how even a sketch was deliberate. Detailed. Inspired by both the area around him, and the area it should occupy. Including his presence and perspective in a location. This is why for a time, he was the most adored architect in all of Rome, even surpassing the beloved Da Vinci in fame. As such, his noble phantasm is no doubt the ability to improve upon the structure of the world around him.
This is a Reality Marble, born from either the genius of Raphael, or perhaps an inhumane presence built into the core of his being. Or maybe he just willed it as such to challenge Leonardo. This is a world that exists as 'The Mind' of Raphael. A collection of all buildings, structures, and domains he had ever seen or imagined in his lifetime. A city, a world composed of his works that stretch into eternity. Raphael becomes in effect master of a domain. In this defined area, often mapped out in his mind, he can manipulate all aspects of said space. Moving alleys, or the internal elements of a location about with the simplest of ease. For example, taking an alleyway with a dead end, and simply adjusting the spatial parameters so that this alley can go from one side of a city to another, and drop one off at a nearby museum when it's over. Even the act of climbing a set of stairs can lead one to run in place forever, gaining no ground or distance. It even becomes possible to leave one room in a building, and enter the same room. It just makes sense to Raphael that his world can connect in such a way.
While active, all allies to Raphael gain an 'internal compass' that allows them to navigate the impossible labyrinth. Skills like divination or Clairvoyance though may help one navigate the maze, but even then success is not completely guaranteed in finding the way out.

Extra Info:
- Raphael utilizes quite a few simple weapons. Primarily ones that can be hidden under his clothing. For maneuvering, he utilizes a series of mechanical spider-legs that can be ejected from a pack on his back. Otherwise, he utilizes a series of elemental weapons that are hidden under the sleeves of his jacket.
- Raphael considers DaVinci to be another of his rivals. It is unknown if she feels the same way.
- Raphael likes that a turtle was named after him.

I don't want this to be a rush, but I don't think there's any other way of handling this situation that wouldn't look like I'm picking favorites. You can settle it between yourselves, of course, which would be the most desirable outcome. But, failing that, it'll be as described before.

Also, please, don't think just of the Servants and forget to build the Masters as well. Ideally, I want to kickstart this story at most this weekend so that I can try to catch your interest before we're dragged down by the Holiday season.

Her legend is well known all over Japan, in particular her battle at Okehazama, Onin War and the Honno-ji, last to say was Totoyomi Hideyoshi, her vassal succeeding her after her death.

The Demon King of the Sixth Heaven (第六天魔王波旬だいろくてんまおうはじゅん, Dairokutenmaōhajun?) is the "true Noble Phantasm" of Demon King Oda Nobunaga, known as the destroyer of Shinto and Buddhism. Based on the burning of Mount Hiei and the other brutal deeds she had performed in life, it is a Reality Marble that makes her into a being that "holds absolute power against those with Divinity and Mystery." Upon its activation, it renders her nude as a visual effect, and the world, acting as the "accumulation of the fear and reverence that the people held for Nobunaga after death", materializes a scorching hell. Like her Tenka Fubu Skill, it is something that displays great power against those with high Divinity and Mystery, making it difficult for such Servants to even continue existing while in the space, and displays little power against those with low Divinity and Mystery, making the landscape "a tad hot" to them.

It is her famous policy, having dreamed about the unification of the country of Japan, and the "three lines of fire" strategy she is said to have employed at the Battle of Nagashino. It brings about three thousand arquebuses in her surroundings, and they fire volleys in every direction while matching the guns she holds in both of her hands.

Having its moniker as a "Rider Slayer Technique"

She evaluates it as "a Mami-like Arquebus-Kata (火縄カタ, Hinawa-kata?) action by means of three thousand arquebuses." Affected by her "Tenka Fubu - Innovation" Skill, it is more dangerous against Servants possessing higher ranks of Divinity and Mystery.

As there was the "all too famous anecdote" of consigning the cavalry of the Takeda Army, the most powerful cavalry in the age of the warring states, to oblivion, it also displays a particularly strong effectiveness against Heroic Spirits possessing the Riding Skill, increasing its attack power against them.

Against those with low Divinity and Mystery or those with a lack of Divinity, Mystery and Riding, the guns would act as "mere matchlocks." They can still be annoying for them to cope with, and with the volley firing of three thousand guns, it can still be a common threat, such as allowing its tremendous destructive power and overwhelming fire-density to push her enemies into a corner.

She, who sought to destroy Shinto and Buddhism, serves an absolute advantage over servants with Divinity and Ancient Mystery unless they are of the Age of Man.

• Name: Kogyouku Fuu
• Age: 17 years
• Bio: Fuu is the successor of a lineage with deep roots on Chinese mysticism. By their accounts, their bloodline dates all the way back to the Three Kingdoms era when they were part of Wu's courtly mages. However, that's highly debatable.
  
  She has a mild-choleric temper. While not being particularly easy to anger, she can be imperious and as stubborn as the Ox whose sign she shares. However, once you earn her trust, she'll become a reliable friend.
• Magecraft: Her magecraft style is based on traditional Eastern methods, mainly I-Ching numerology, and Taijutsu. It's a varied art that's mainly used for divination and excels at Bounded Field creations, but she's also capable of some combative applications.
  
  In addition to her magecraft, she also possesses Mystic Eyes, called Mystic of Vertigo「Disorientation」, they are capable of causing nausea, disorientation, and even knocking someone out, depending on their resistance to Magecraft.
• Mystic Codes: Fuu has a tame collection of mystic codes that she brought to the war.
  
  The first of with are her robes, which are a type of formal dress that passively collect mana, and actual as an anti-magic charm.
  
  The second is a set of magecraft implements consisting of an ancient bronze Jian covered in ceremonial inscriptions, ink made from special herbs, a brush made from a kirin's mane, and bamboo paper charms. While these are just tools for the preparation and casting of magecraft, the Jian is a tool capable of inflicting harm to spiritual beings. It would never be enough to pose any serious threat to a Servant, it can be used to fend off wraiths and similar beings.
  
  The last, but not least of the Mystic Codes brought by Fuu is a miniature I-Ching/Feng Shui board that is small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. It can be used to speed up her Taijutsu magecraft, making it comparable to High-Speed Incantation for a short time. Once the magical energy stored in the talisman is depleted, it'll take some time to recharge it either by absorbing excess mana from the air or by being recharged directly. In a way, it's similar to a reusable form of Gem Magecraft jewels.
• Skills: Fuu is really good at cooking Chinese food, and very knowledgeable in many sorts of esoteric fields, as expected of an heiress of a mage family. However, Western Mysticism isn't really her forte.
  
  In addition to the above, Fuu is a very skilled martial artist. Her proficiency in Taijiquan and Bajiquan might actually surprise some who would take her smallish build to be a sign of weakness.
• Tools: Nothing particularly useful in a Holy Grail War. However, she brought a set of cooking implements and some Chinese novels—both classic and modern—to occupy herself while not fighting in the war.
• Extra Info: Fuu isn't very fond of taking direct sunlight because of her pale complexion. The war being fought mostly during the night and in Winter is a boon for her.
  
  Her Mystic Eyes are a vestigial trace of her bloodline, which is said to be descended from a Dead Apostle who possessed Jewel-class Mystic Eyes that have long since been lost to time.

• Bio: The Once and Forever King of Britain. The wielder of the greatest Holy Sword, Excalibur. Arthur is the child of Uther Pendragon, chosen and raised from the youngest age to be the Ruler who would restore Britain to its former glory. He's the greatest and, perhaps, most known Hero. The archetypal Knight in Shining Armor, who's said to rest on the legendary island of Avalon, waiting for the day he'll once again be needed.
  
  He ruled over Camelot besides his peers, the Knights of the Round Table, a group of heroes who can be compared to France's Twelve Peers, and Greece's Argonauts.
  
  As long as his Master's cause is a just one, Arthur will fight selflessly and with unwavering bravery for them.

Motorcycles and automobiles are treated as "modern mounts", thus a high rank in Riding is also applicable. However, King Arthur can ultimately only control normal mounts. This is due to his Class not being Rider, as well as the fact that he was a King in the Age of Man, thus, he did not have the fortune of having “Legends of Riding Phantasmal Species".

  • Magic Resistance: A

    As his "Pendragon" name shows, King Arthur is the holder of the Element of the Red Dragon, charged with the task of protecting the kingdom. He carries the very magical power of the Dragon. This humongous magical power is also the source of King Arthur’s Magic Resistance. Due to the characteristics of a Dragon, King Arthur has much trouble with existences such as Siegfried, who is associated with tales of "Dragon extermination". If he is targeted by "Dragon-slaying Sorceries", it is possible that Magic Resistance will not function to its fullest extent.

    Having B Rank in this Skill is sufficient to lead a nation as its King/Queen. The morale of military forces he commands is extremely high.

  • Giant Beast Hunt: A

    A Skill that denotes having abundant combat experience against giant enemy lifeforms. King Arthur fought against and managed to completely defeat all the magical beasts that attempted to trample Britain.

  • Instinct: A

    At Rank A, it is essentially in the realm of predicting the future. Through this ability, it is possible to negate the penalties inflicted by visual and auditory interference to a certain extent.

  • Mana Burst: A

    King Arthur uses this Skill mainly for defense and high-speed movement. Executing large-scale body reinforcement through Mana Burst is only possible with King Arthur’s immense magical power. While he herself possesses average physical strength, he managed to defeat countless enemies by strengthening all of his actions with his excessive magical energy.

    The shining holy sword that saves the planet.
    
    A golden blade that repels pretty much any evil, built to defeat an outside enemy that destroys the planet.
    
    The sword grows in power based on the number of Restraints that have been broken. With six of them, it's able to reach enough power to be considered an unmatched Holy Sword, but it'll never be able to show its true brilliance until at least seven of the Thirteen Restraints have been lifted.
    
    Even so, this is unmistakably an intense light that defeats a great evil.

@Parallel Hearts I mean, sure? Like if a servant ran in and stabbed one, that's like an obvious win for a servant. If they ran into a room where fifty of them are running about and had time to prep, that might be another thing altogether. They're a strengths in numbers kinda thing.

A C rank familiar cannot beat a servant in 1v1, but 1v50? Sure.
