That was nice; it seemed that this Wisemon--whoever it was--had worked out that the strange group of students and creatures had nothing to do with the theft of its books and wanted to show them off. That was great and all but... she didn't really care all that much about going and looking at a book; that sounded too much like the detention they'd just gotten out of. Finding out why the baker girl was calling herself a queen or what Mr. Panic's problem over there was... those seemed far more interesting. Though Aoi shrugged, continuing to look Wisemon up and down in an eerily similar manner to how the digimon had judged her in the first place.

"So... what's it like being a magic librarian? Do you get a lot of visitors? I guess you don't do much lending, because I'd slap something to teleport books back whenever they're late rather than chase them... that's too much work," the white-haired schoolgirl said, trying to strike up a conversation with Wisemon.

"M-Miss Aoi! Is this really the time...?" the Sistermon asked, looking between her and Wisemon with a worried expression. She wasn't afraid of having to fight the demonic librarian... well, she wasn't afraid of losing, the fight itself seemed simultaneously exciting but terrifying. Had she the information to make a comparison, Silvia would probably have been thinking of rollercoasters. And the girl she had looked up to so much... it was becoming obvious that she was quite the sinner, if the skimpy outfit and professed laziness were any indication.

"Yeah? When else am I going to get to talk to this guy?"

Kuroko put a hand on Buck's shoulder. The Digimon's muscles were tensed up and ready for a fight. But at the very least this Wisemon seemed to be willing to listen... for now. Kuroko gave Buck a gentle bop on the head to get his attention. "Calm down," she said softly, kneeling down. "If you do, I'll get you some snacks as soon as I can."

That got his attention. Buck's eyes lit up like a kid in a candy store. "Really?"

"Really-really."

"Okay, but for the record, if Wisemon decides to attack, I'm not going down without a fight." Kuroko frowned. She'd heard Buck say something like that before. When the two were sitting in an alleyway while people ran and hid from monsters, the little Digimon had made a promise to her.

"Just like you swore before," she muttered.

"Of course. But that Sangloupmon... he wasn't as strong as Wisemon. Even with modifications to our Digicores as Champion-levels, we still can't beat an Ultimate-level Digimon on our own."

"So you'd have to work in a team?"

"Absolutely, but..." Buck scratched under his chin. "Admittedly, I'm not much of a team player..."

Kuroko glanced at the others. "If something like the Yokai Incident is happening right now, I think that's gonna have to change."

"Y-you dare insult my queen!?" Chessy seethed.

"Ohoho, aren't you the rude little thing," Estelle smiled, curls swaying lightly from a tilt of her head. "Well, I'll have you know, I'm no tyrant. I love all of my little chessmon and they love me." She patted Chessy on the head. Regardless, this was rather boring, wasn't it? Nothing interesting in this dusty old library at all.

"Tch, very well...but know that any further insult will be remembered and returned ten fold, cretin!" Chessy beat the front of his shield with his spear, a loud bang of metal and metal filling the area before returning to an at the ready position next to Estelle.

"Hmm...Wisemon was it? You don't supposed I could take a look around the other areas of the library?" Truth be told, she had no interest in helping this...creature. Not after it called her a tyrant of all things. Perhaps there might be a fun or interesting book or some other fascinating document here she could read. It'd certainly alleviate her boredom a bit.

Wakana and Tinkermon

Wakana was a bit dumbfounded by the guy who almost looked like he was going to flip out and go on a tantrum or something. He... Seemed like he was going to be an issue in resolving this calmly if he kept it up. How annoying. The others... Well, they haven't attack the Wisemon yet though she was half-way worried about the little black dinosaur thing. It looks like its human partner had it under control for now though. Well, at least Wisemon was moving them along now and everyone seemed to go along with it. Well, everyone but the curl haired dumbass.

"Of course the idiot doesn't want to help the situation at hand." Wakana sighed as she heard Estelle mentioned exploring the library more. She went into the room with the books, curious about what they looked like. They looked like thick leather-bound grimoires. "Hmmm." Wakana mused as she looked over the ones remaining. "Hmmm. How odd."

"What's odd?" Tinkermon asked as she rested herself on Wakana's head. "The books?" The little pixie joined Wakana in looking over the books.

Wakana gave a silent nod as she moved her hand up to her mouth in a thinking pose. "Well. The books are a bit odd looking." One called to her. The one with the diamond shape on it. "Not to mention... I find it odd that Wisemon wouldn't know where it is or who took it if he knows what goes on in this library." She scratched her head and sighed. "Obviously, if it's true that Wisemon knows everything in this library, if he doesn't know about it, then it's not here. It's quite likely somewhere else."

Tinkermon's eyes lit up. "Oh wow, Wakana! You got really smart!" The small fairy said as she gleefully patted the high-schooler on the head.

"Huh? N-no... Anyone could figure that much out." Wakana sighed as the fairy continued her patting. She watched the girl attempt to touch the book earlier and noted there seemed to be no guard against touching it probably. "I'm curious who could have got to it before us. Well, it's that or Wisemon is lying to our faces." The girl continued to muse.

Tinkermon gave a forced laugh at something that was an obviously not a joke. "Hahaha... I don't think that's the case.

"Probably. Wisemon would notice there was no guilt in Wakana. None outwardly at least. There was a bit of agitation, though it seemed like it stemmed more from lack of information than anything about the room. Probably. "So, these books can cause a calamity. Bypass natural life cycle, increase power, intake data?" Wakana said as she tried to put the pieces together. She didn't have enough information on digimon to really say anything.

Luckily, Tinkermon was around. The small fairy nonchalantly spoke, "Huh. Thinking about it, that's kinda like Digivolving, ain't it?" She pondered aloud before getting that Wakana was confused by that. "Oh, right, so... You know how we mentioned Wisemon is an Ultimate level Digimon? It's like a stage of a Digimon's life. I'm a Rookie. Petermon is a Champion. There's a clear power divide between stages, ah! But, I can still beat up Petermon when I want to!"

"So, the books can be used to force that?"

"Ahh... Maybe. I don't really want to try it out myself. I'm happy as I am, thank you very much."

"So, someone came into Wisemon's library without him knowing and stole a book that can possibly cause Digivolving?" Wakana questioned aloud. The more and more she thought about it, the more and more this seemed like some fever dream she was concocting in her head. Well, whatever the case, that was the what, why and where. An old looking grimoire because it could possibly cause digivolution in this library. Who though? Likely wasn't Wisemon. Then who? Another human? Wisemon said Digimon can't open it at least.

Now she was invested in this mystery. It was like one of her books. "Caper in the Digital Library!" She giggled, electing a raised eyebrow from Tinkermon. "Either way, I didn't know that was even a thing... Wisemon. Wakana got his attention after he was done with the other... pedantic questions. "You don't remember there being other guests-visitors-invaders in your library before us? For a time before that book was stolen. Or, perhaps you talked to someone about these before?"

Wisemon offering to show them the location of the books to 'jog' their memory came as a slight relief as it meant that hostilities were not quite open yet. Gil relaxed slightly, and followed Wisemon and the others into the room. With things slightly calmer, people started introducing themselves, so Gil felt it was as good a time as any to do the same. "I'm God-King Gilgamesh, and I'm an Armadimon," Gil declared, then turned to Wisemon, who had bristled at the mention of royalty, "But don't worry, I am neither a god nor a king, it's just a nickname. Makes me sound tough, right? But I get that it's a mouthful, so you can just call me 'Gil'."

As the others discussed the books and explained to the humans the details of digimon growth, Gil came up with an idea. Turning back to Wisemon, he said, "So, since you trust that we didn't steal your book, but are understandably distraught by its absence, maybe you could...send us on a mission to retrieve it! I'll put my life on the line to help you get your precious book back." Gil didn't know what a Wisemon was exactly capable of, but he assumed that Wisemon was some sort of magician-type, what with being surrounded by so much digital information, so his next suggestion sort of came from left field, "Do you know any, like, spells? I get that you might think I'm saying all this just so that we can escape, but maybe you could place like a beacon or tracking spell on me or something, so you can check on the status of our mission. And to make sure I stay on track, you can...you can make it an exploding beacon! Whoops! Haha, I mean, but just on me, of course..." He looked around sheepishly, afraid that he had just volunteered the entire group to a pretty messy situation.

Wisemon's Lament

Wisemon would fixate their eyes upon the fixtures that upheld the great books well emblazoned marble, no damage to any of them, hence why Wisemon was so stumped. Nobody should have the authority to remove them so easily save for Wisemon. Hence why it had to be these unknown variables. That was why Wisemon without a doubt believed that even if they did tell the truth. They weren't being entirely honest with the protector of the library that was Wisemon's personal belief though the Librarian could at least be somewhat cordial.

Turning its towering figure around to the arrogant little chessmon and its arrogant partner. Wisemon would stoop low to look at them both directly and personally. "Why do you think-process-CONCLUDE that I would allow a arrogant-suspicious-INTRUDER like yourself to freely move about my library while under suspicion-interrogation-WATCH, So know that you have no right to make such threats in this library." Wisemon would say before creaking back up to full height. Towering over the two as an imposing figure, before merely floating away.

Wisemon would next address the organism that was paired with one of the rather rare Sistermon types. Wisemon wasn't unfamiliar with the standard respect one should give to angelic digimon, but Wisemon also didn't really care for such formalities. "Visitors, Rare if at all, Lending? No. Teleportation of books sounds like good idea. Will consider for future investment." The Librarian said with seriousness to what was probably a stupidly complex idea.

Indeed Wisemon had answered all the short questions they felt like responding to, because someone had said something that was quite interesting. The girl with a Tinkermon far away from home had brought up the intriguing factor about digivolution. But the girl with the Renamon had asked directly about the books themselves. Wisemon could answer both in one explanation.

"I have already told you of the importance and power of the books, But if you wish me to go into detail about the iconography..." Wisemon would say, Their voice a calm more readily to explain sort of tone. Indeed if there is anything this Digimon liked to do. It was to show their intellectual know-how about all things.

"As you can see there are seven pedastals, but only six books upon them. The ones that remain are Plutomon, The god of the underworld, whoms symbol is that of a dark diamond. He manages the underworld of data. Neptunemon, God of the Net Ocean with the symbol of the horse and trident. Vulcanusmon, god of the mountain forge and the owner of the grandest mines of the digital world whom uses an anvil as his symbol. Dianamon, the harbringer of the night and the goddess of the moon represented by that very same lunar rock. Venusmon the lover and the compassionate, She both drives Digimon to great success and to ruin with her overwhelming love for all things, represented by her dove and oyster. Last of the ones that remain is Bacchusmon, The foremost drinker and the party holder for all Digimon, represented by the wine glass. They are all gods compared to you and I, the gods of the digital world." Wisemon would conclude.

"The final book, and the one that was stolen contained" Then Wisemon would keel over in agony clutching its head in pain as if drawing that much information had hurt it in some way. As it quickly shook its head. What was in the last book. It attempted to try to recall the information again, keeling over once more, something was wrong. What was it talking about. The gods, Olympos XII. The intruders. Jupitermon.

In pain the digimon would reach out towards the books to try to read it to refresh its memory. Accessing these books should allow it to remind itself what it was talking about and ground itself. With outstretched palm Wisemon arbiter of the node and keeper of the great library would attempt to read Bacchusmon's Tome.
Data corruption at unacceptable levels
Access Denied

The voice would bellow loudly.

And Wisemon?

They screamed

Shibuya

Hack enroute to the Digital Shift

Leaping from rooftop to rooftop to close in on the signal of the digital shift, a white-furred digimon with a flowing red cape would be rushing to the scene. Hack had been sent alone because not only was he faster, he was also capable of slipping into the school unnoticed. The old geezer would have to wait outside. They would assess the situation before closing the rift. God forbid anyone was trapped inside. But it was the best they could do as of current until they know what the enemy was. All Hack and by extension the rest of Dojo team knew was that the longer the rifts were open, the more unstable the real world would become and they couldn't risk another Yokai incident...

Thus it would continue running headlong towards the school.

Wisemon in their fit of anger and rage was causing the very library to shake, books would fall off their shelves, others would turn red symbolising damaged or corrupted files as a result of Wisemons fit. To see such a figure that had up to this point been at least somewhat intelligent and polite if at least threatening, be devolved down to a rabid beast and then even more frightening. Wisemon would just stop and calmly lift itself up.

"Take them. The books. Take them far away from here and do it quickly. I am no longer suited to be the protector of these books. I do not care what your intention is, if your a bad person someone else will have to stop you. Just take them and leave before I inevitably change my mind." Wisemon would say their voice free of distortion. One last island of sanity before the darkest abyss of mindlessness. They were twitching oddly, like a bug being probed with a sharp stick. Their book they stood open shedding pages.

It seems whatever Wisemon was doing it was only to stall for time.

"...Rude thing, aren't you." Estelle hummed, narrowing her eyes at Wisemon and completely unfazed by his attitude. She had really done nothing wrong, had she? She most certainly hadn't been rude, either. Hmph, well, whatever then. She'd get into this library one way or another at some point. She was certain it was full of very useful information, and if this hermit didn't want to do the nice thing and share, things could always be persuaded otherwise.

So, she turned to move towards the books as Wisemon ordered them to take something.

"My Queen?"

"Haaa, I don't like it. Not at all." Estelle replied with a sigh. "You, who have been utterly rude to me for know reason think to command me and ask me to help you?" Estelle's mouth turned upwards into a smirk. "I should burn this entire library down for your arrogance." She grabbed the book nearest to her - one saying something about Dianamon? She didn't care. "But since i am far more nice and benevolent than you seem to believe, I'll do it."

"Hmph. My queen we should leave. Wisemon's data seems to be becoming increasingly unstable."

Wakana and Tinkermon

"I see..." Wakana mentioned as she listened to all of Wisemon's words. All these digimon sounded like... What? Myth? How odd, really. She would have asked more questions lending to how these books could spur digivolution as it were called but something... Weird happened.

"W-woah!" Tinkermon yelled in reply to the screams of the library keeper. "He's going berserk!?" The small pixie seemed very concerned about that.

"Take the books?" Wakana questioned, not really caring much for the state of this digimon. The scream was not something that bothered her much. This felt like some weird story more than it felt like real life. She quickly reached for the one with the diamond on it. It felt odd that the very thing that had accused them of stealing a tome was now telling them to take them but she won't complain. "What's even going on?" She asked as she started to turn around to run for where they came from.

"Data corruption!? I-I don't know exactly! There's a few things it could be!" The little pixie said as she followed after, taking peaks at the ultimate level digimon. "Do you know where we're going?" She questioned as she followed behind her friend.

"No idea. Just hoping we can go back the way we came, to be honest!" She looked at the others in the room. It seemed Estelle grabbed a book too. Perhaps she heard the talk Tinkermon and her had and was interested in the possibility of digivolution? Well, that much was fine then. "Grab a book and run, idiots!" It was too good a chance to pass up. Might as well make sure the others grabbed something.

A Flower in Bloom (Part 4)

Shion said nothing as she grabbed the next book in line, the one that apparently belonged to Venusmon, and started back towards the portal. She only made it a few feet before she stopped and turned around. "Wait a second. Are you guys even able to go through the portal we came from? Or should we try to leave through the entrance to the library?"

"If we are unable to leave through the portal, so be it. It-" Renamon replied before being cut off.

"No. Think about it, we're not able to get weapons, if we were attacked for these books then we wouldn't be able to defend ourselves. You made it sound like you can get stronger, strong enough to protect us and these books if we stay together. So we're staying together." Shion turned towards the others. "So unless one of you is willing to test the portal first, we should leave through the library's exit."

Wisemon had made Kuroko uneasy before. Now, she was more than a bit scared. However, Buck seemed to be readying for a fight. "You heard the 'mon," Buck said. "Grab a book, and let's get moving. I don't know what's up with this guy, but if we need to fight, then those books will help." Kuroko nodded, grabbing one of the books without looking.

She didn't want to be separated from Buck again. They had only met once before, but he was there to protect Kuroko. "I vote for the library exit," she said. "If Buck and the others can't get through the portal, then they're as good as dead." Kuroko followed after the girl with the glasses, Wakana. "Come on, Buck, let's roll!"

Collab between @Stern Algorithm and @Zelosse

As Gil listened to Wisemon explain the books and who they represented, he commented to no one in particular, "Vulcanusmon, huh? Symbolized by an anvil? He sounds strong and tough, but it also sounds like he builds things. Sounds like a god I can get behind."

But what happened next surprised Gil, and when Chessy pointed out Wisemon's instability, Gil under-reacted with an, "Oh dear. Umm, yeah, we can take the books since they're so important to you, but is there another administrator or librarian who you trust us to deliver these books to?"

Taiji for his own part was completely out of his depth. The constant harsh speaking, the accusations, the sheer amount of people and things. It was all they could do to put hands over their ears and drown it out, repeating the mantra of his life on its customary endless loop, this time kneeling down beside Gilgamesh and putting a hand on their back. Watching Wisemon shred themself was painful, it was infuriating and frightening at the same time, but worse yet; it was familiar. They were having an attack of some sort for all Taiji could really tell. Which meant they needed help. Forget the threats of before. Maybe that was why they lashed out? their safe place was violated or something right.

"Gil.. lets get this book somewhere safe. I'll hold onto it, but we need to help this guy don't we? Do you know if there is anything we can do."

"I-I don't know what there is we can do to help," Gil said, though he left out an important piece of information. The only thing Gil knew about data corruption was that the corrupted Digimon was usually put down so that their data could be reborn, but Gil wasn't sure if Taiji could stomach that bit of information. "His...condition...did seem to get worse when he tried to touch one of the books, so perhaps getting the books as far away as possible might be the only thing we can do to help? Who knows, he might get better." Doubtful, but there was never anything wrong with wishful thinking.

Taiji couldn't refute the logic. This whole thing was beyond his depth to an unimaginable degree but Gil seemed to have the right of it. If these books WERE the problem, they'd get them as far away as possible and hope this Wisemon guy would get over whatever was hurting him. Almost as an afterthought, Taiji took one of the bottles of medication and siphoned out a half dozen pills, leaving them in a little cap on the floor as close to Wisemon as he felt comfortable doing and backed off with equal speed back to Gil, the last bastion of sanity around here.

"Alright. Lead the way cause we're gettin' the hell out of here!"

Noticing Taiji giving the distraught Wisemon his 'candy', Gil gave Taiji a thumbs-up, though it was a slightly awkward gesture for a creature standing on four legs. But as people began deciding which exit to take, the answer was clear in Gil's mind. He was pretty sure the portal led to the 'human world', since these humans, who knew nothing of the digital world, came from said portal. Though Wisemon had requested they take the books away, there was someone who Wisemon had requested they take the books too, and that individual sounded like a digimon living in the digital world.

"We take the library exit," Gil said to Taiji, though the message was intended for the entire group, "We have a promise to fulfill." Gil made for the exit, avoiding the portal.
