We are nearing an end-of-day. Not quite there yet, but soon. Room assignments may be discussed in the OOC or Discord as you like, but representation must be observed in the IC here. If it was not clear from context, the rooms discussed are the two rightmost rooms across from each other in the map titled The Infamous Pear, 2F located in the header of the most recent IC update. The lower room on the map only has two beds, and will be getting the cot.

Now is a good time for standard tavern stuff if you want, or to call it an early night if you don't. If you enter the rooms, you will note that the upper one has a window which faces out to a receiving area and stable in the back of the building. The lower room's window faces out to the street.

In short, if you haven't closed out the day, please do so first. Bring your character to the next day by the end of your next post. It can be as simple as "Returned to the Inn and passed out", or as complicated as you like, so long as you've got your character back in the taproom of The Infamous Pear early in the morning.

There's no major plot points to be worked out, but if there is anything that the characters want to work out, purchase, do in Darenby before the trail is hit, please do so in the next post. And with that, my laptop issues are handled for the time being. Thank you for your patience, and again, everyone writing for this little adventure has an additional day added to their counters on account of my involuntary tardiness. Be this 24 hours late, here is the penultimate post for the trade town of Darenby. Handle what you need to in town during this cycle; purchases, miscellaneous wrap-ups, etc. We've more or less got the party roster set, and we've been in Darenby long enough. If you have anything you need to buy in town, let me know and I will help wrap it up in a mostly behind-the-scenes fashion. Just credit a couple of sentences or so in the IC on its appropriation.

Also, I wish to extend a more or less friendly reminder to please keep OOC observations and notations firmly in the OOC.

Thanks again for making adventures in the Avonshire region part of your (at least) weekly schedule. I'm so grateful I might not drop a Tarrasque on you this round.

To reiterate my sentiments from the Announcements section in the Avonshire Discord:

This will mostly be a posting round to establish marching order and get in some travel conversation, if that's your thing. Make plans for when you get to the Township, discuss bread recipes, braid each other's hair, discuss your backstories, whatever. If you have plans for specific things, great! Let me know and I'll pass along what your nefariousness has gotten you. We'll get in a roll for random encounters, have lunch, you know - make a day of it. Past this we get to the fun stuff.

Because of the holidays, everyone has a two day extension. Feel free to post as much as you want to, being as we're talking dialogue and travel time, but don't feel rushed. Maybe work on a collab or two with your fellow players. You've got some more wiggle room now. To clarify: 9 day counter this posting round. And have a Merry Christmas. Or Blessed Yule. Whatever works for you.

In short, have fun with the next round of posting, do whatever you need to do (within reason) because after the holidays have more or less passed, we're hopping into the meat of out little adventure. Thank you for sticking with this, I'm glad you decided to join me on whatever manner of story this turns into - adventure, fantasy, horror, crime drama - or some unholy mixture of the four with a few extra ingredients.

First up - Rapid Reader has missed the cutoff point for posting and has been removed from this RP. No hard feeling on this end, and I wish the best moving forward. Suffice it to say, we're down a druid.

Now, to business:

The collective passive perception was more than enough to pick out that something unusual is going on. The details are fuzzy as hell, but there we are. As the only person actively attempting to perceive, @Lewascan2 may roll in the Discord OOC to try and beat their passive perception rating to get more information on what is going on.

As for the rest of us, it looks like we have a minor mystery on our hands and some decisions to make. Roll them bones, people!

To be clear, we are NOT in Initiative order yet. Nothing has been rolled to this effect, continue to do your thing and speak among yourselves in the OOC Lounge in Discord. A couple of caveats to this: 1) Restrict movement to the amount which you would be able to in one combat round. 2) While Initiative has not been rolled, I am doing checks behind the DM Screen (a restricted room in the Discord server) to see when and/or if the group is noticed as a whole. While they appear fairly oblivious, there is still a chance. Please keep this in mind. 3) In the Location part of your header, fill in with the square you are currently occupying, an arrow ( -> ) and the square you are going to.

Example: P14 -> K18

Now, when combat is entered into officially, the posting rules change. Roll your initiatives in the Discord OOC and tag me. I will roll for the baddies and we'll get ourselves an initiative order. The first person in that list has TWO DAYS to handle requests and post their actions. Actions are to be noted in the spaces provided in your header. When you are done with your actions, TAG THE NEXT PERSON IN THE INITIATIVE ORDER in your post. If it's an NPC, that means it's me.

I must admit that there is a flaw in my system here, as it relates to Reactions. All I can say is that we'll cross that bridge when it comes to it. If you can get in a Reaction and choose to, let me know. Until a better system is in place, we will work something out.

The TLDR of the map and actions thusfar:

Between burning some ki, lots of wine, and the sneaky abilities of the party, the Goblins still have not caught on that they are in any danger whatsoever (that you can tell). One roll was close, but no cigar. The battle map is updated to reflect the characters' locations; do with this what you will. Kosara and Hugh are spending quality time behind large rocks, Kathryn is sticking to the road, Marita is taking point, and Victoria is backing her up (while still using the lady as cover, sort of). Morty seems happy to stick with its creator, backing up the backup.

As it sits presently, Hugh has an action readied and a target picked out. When the conditions for this come to pass, even if it's just Hugh deciding that he's tired of waiting and subtlety be damned, he gets to interrupt the flow. This aside, I would suggest that the order of the next posting cycle be determined amongst yourselves before we proceed, if one is waiting on the actions of others. If you are too close to Day 7 before this roll around, go ahead with a two paragraph filler post and circle back to it when it's appropriate to do so.

Example: Victoria is going to back up Marita, as she sees Kathryn stopping at the road. Ergo, Victoria should take her action after Marita, more or less around the time Kathryn does. Being as V is on Day 5, if this isn't resolved in two days then a quick observational post will be made.

Continuing, please put any questions or requests in our Discord's OOC Lounge as per usual. Describe how you got to the spot on the map where you are now, and the fruits of your actions which are to be rolled for this posting cycle if rolls are required of you.

To all my guys, gals, and assorted nonbinary pals, I bid you a warm and fuzzy welcome to the first round of actual, turn-based combat! I know, right? So exciting! Hell, I'm out of breath!

I realize that this probably doesn't look quite as epic a brawl as it might have been, a good measure of this because the surprise round that we all took saw the group stomping roughshod over the lion's share of the baddies on the map. This tells me a few things. In later planned encounters, factors might need to be adjusted. But don't any of you worry; this one will continue without any of the interesting bits of DM fiat that one might do to keep things lively. (mental note - cancel the Ogre paratroopers - for now) As promised in our Discord, for your posting convenience, our spiffiest of Initiative Orders follows:

As things perish, I will update the Initiative Order to reflect. A few things to consider/be reminded of before we begin in earnest, now that we are in rotation:

Special rules or circumstances will be given for each fight in OOC when it begins. In this case, there are no special rules; this is a straightforward fight. There are a couple of circumstances to consider, and most of this is about line of sight. Kosara has an okay view of everyone except for G9. The ones behind the cart have the equivalent of half cover. Hugh has zero line of sight. He will have to reposition before he can get off a shot, if he intends to attack. Kathryn can make out G9 around the trunk of the big tree north of the campfire, but from her position cannot see the other two behind the wagon.

You have 48 hours when your turn comes to post or you will be skipped. Your character will automatically take the Dodge action, and we will move on. If you are skipped twice you are removed from this RP. When you have posted, please tag the next person in the initiative order. As always, make all declarations and rolls in the Discord OOC and wait for results.

Thank you all, and congratulations for getting our first battle of the game out of the way without too much in the way of hitches. The issue with Reactions hasn't been fully addressed, but I can more forward a little more confident now that when the issue becomes problematic, we can discuss objectively and handle it. Let's get a couple of things out of the way first:

1) We are back into Narrative posting as of now. Regular rules apply.
2) The timer is being reset for everyone. Your seven days start NOW.

I would request that you please do not ride the clock and handle this last minute. If you do, this means I have to as well. If I have to, it's less fun for everyone.

Now, heading off a couple questions which may arise - Arrows spent will go by basic rules on the subject. Half are lost. However, as there were other archers on the scene, restocking shouldn't be an issue. Ongoing spells are toast, so that Bless is gone. If I remember correctly, Bardic Inspiration was used up by Kathryn and Marita. If I'm wrong, hit me up in the Discord and we'll talk rolls before it wears off.

Let's keep this short and sweet. Shorter and sweeter than the IC, and that was a relatively short update. So here's to it:

I have a few inquiries and check results that are waiting for their moment on the screen. Because of this, we've got another rotation of posts at least before moving on doesn't cut off actions already requested. So, keep those interpersonal moments coming, keep those actions rolling in, get done what you think if feasible in this setting of death and dismemberment. I will respond to new ideas, propose rolls for new lines of inquiry if necessary, and see where this takes us all. Basically, you keep doing you.

Let us assume that at least fifteen minutes or so has passed since the fight. This gives ample time for the multiple checks made, and actions related to those checks following.

And quick question - do you think that Goblin tastes like chicken? What about with hot sauce?
