"Oh hells. As if one wasn't bad enough..." Aurora shook her head as the sayter took a drink of the alcohol that was in the room. When Brutrumukk proceeded to hoist an empty barrel and walk into the next room ranting about a drake, Rory started to wonder of the salvaged plan was going to fall apart again.
"Jub is there any magic that might help keep him from wandering around, fall alseep, or just follow us without to much issue?" She asked as she started after Vansel to keep him from getting to far away either. The miniature Bavlorna didn't really concern her at the moment as much as making sure the bugbear and the sayter were both kept close to the rest of the group.

A mirthful chuckle escaped the half-elf's lips, shaking his head as he massaged his temples. As a man who was a bit too fond of hooch and other liquor, Gabriel found this a bit ironic that he was the one who was sober and dealing with a drunkard rather than the opposite "Methinks the art of sobering up takes more than magic and divine intervention to cure the besotted. " he sighed, wiping a tear from his eye "But sleep does wonders, I can't vouch for whatever hangover shall befall our two heros." Gabriel cast a look in the smaller goblins direction "Don't worry there my peculiar little fellow, I am an expert in these things. I am what you might say an expert alcoholic."

Gabriel stepped in the way of Vansel, a not-so-apologetic smile on his face as he unstoppered his waterskin and threw some water at him "Oi ye bloody sot snap out of it-" next thing he did was wind his hand back before lightly but still forcefully slapping Vansel with a backhand across the cheek.

However the perturbed bard found himself slapping the air before him, and embarrassed opted to shake Vansel's shoulder.

"Get your wits about you lad." then turning to the bugbear he paused, the walking carpet could and would probably squash him if he even laid a finger on him even if it were in the best of intentions so he glanced between Jub and Aurora as if asking for suggestions "Err, Jub you get on my shoulders and slap your pal cause I definitely ain't doing that. Or uh Zav? Do you got any suggestions other than a good old slap across the face?"

Jub the Peculiar

Jub watched with a face of shock and disgust as Brutrumukk, in his drunken stupor, pulled something out of one of the severed goblin heads decorating Bavlorna's hut. The disgust only further increased when Jub saw what it was: a tiny toad-like thing that he recognized from the carnival. "Oh great," the goblin said as he watched the creature scampering away. "One of those... things." He wasn't entirely sure what it had been doing inside the goblin head, or if it was even a problem, but he thought he might as well try and stop it from getting away. He held up a hand to his friends' comments. "Gimme a moment, this seems important." Producing his wand, he attempted to fling a Hideous Laughter on the fleeing mini-Bav.

Jub attempts to cast Hideous Laughter on the Mini-Bav with a save DC of 12. Mini-Bave has to make a wisdom saving throw.

Bavlorna's Cottage

When Gabriel tried to splash the satyr with water, it becomes clear that he isn't as drunk as Brutrumukk. He easily dodges the water and Gabriel's attempt to slap him, smiling all the while. When that was done and Gabriel focused his attention on Jub and Brutrumukk, Vansel simply bobbed his head like he was listening to music.

Meanwhile, Jub points his wand at the miniature toad like creature. Jub calculates the spell and speaks the incantation. At first the Mini-Bavlorna stops to turn and look at him and Brutrumukk. After a silent moment, the spell takes hold!

She looks at Brutrumukk and bursts out into laughter. It is disturbing. It sounds like a mix of croaking, wheezing, and ragged breathing.

"Thank you so much, Mister!" Stargaze said as she happily hopped in the bugbear's hands

"Ah, don't mention it. It weren't no trouble at all" Brutrumukk watched as Stargaze climbed up his arm and settled on his shoulder next to Skobeloff.

"Skob, have you seen the others?" Stargaze asked the other drake.

"Not since we arrived at the cottage." Skobeloff replied.

"Oh, don't you worry, lil' missy." Hruggek spoke up. "I'm sure the others are somewhere in this cottage,"

"Then they can't be far." Skobeloff said before looking to Brutrumukk. "Would you help us find our two other friends?"

"Sure, I'll 'elp ya find yer friends!" Skobeloff said happily. "Where d'you reckon we should start looki-" Brutrumukk's words were suddenly cut off be the sound of uproarious laughter. Turning towards its source, Brutrumukk saw a tiny old lady laughing her head off. "Oi oi." Brutrumukk greeted as he walked over to the diminutive elderly human and picked her up off the ground. "What's the joke, old timer?"

Jub breathed a sigh of relief as his spell worked. "Okay," he muttered to himself. "That's one problem dealt with, at least." When Brutrumukk picked up the tiny Bavlorna, Jub quickly added, "Be careful with that, Brutrumukk. I'm going to have figure out what we're going to do with it once it's stopped laughing." The goblin then turned back to his friends. "Err, as for what you said, yes, there is a spell that can get people to sleep... but it's a spell I do not know, so unless one of you has a Scroll of Sleep on you, there's not much I can do about that." He then glanced at Gabriel. "As for knocking him out, I somehow doubt that would go down very well, unless you really want to get into a fist fight with a drunken bugbear."

"Well it was worth a shot," Gabriel shrugged, sticking his hands in the pockets of his breeches "You know, maybe we should make a quick stop at the shops that old Bavlorna's guest mentioned? Might be pertinent to see what we can get there, maybe some way to sober up Brutrumukk here?"

"Be careful with her, Brutrumukk." Jellybean Starfish said. "I have a feeling her sides are going to split if she keeps laughing."

"Hmm... Yeah, you 'ave a point there, Jellybean Starfish." Brutrumukk said while nodding sagely. "I'll tie 'er sides together to keep 'em from splittin'." With that said, Brutrumukk took the rope hanging from his backpack and tied it around the tiny old woman's sides, holding them in place so that her excessive laughter wouldn't cause them to split. "There we go. Much better." Brutrumukk said once the job was done.

Jub watched as Brutrumukk tied up the miniature Bavlorna using some rope. Well, that was one way to stop her running off. "... not what I asked for, but actually a pretty good idea," Jub said after a long moment. He patted the bugbear awkwardly on the back of the head. "Good job."

"Well I suppose that was more helpful than not. Now we just need to get him to stay with us...." Aurora muttered aloud while trying to think of a way to convince the drunken bugbear to stop wandering away from wveryone else. "Do we know who he is talking to or what he is even talking about?"

In response to Aurora's question, Jub gave a shrug. "He mentioned something about a dragon that used to be a barrel, and one point I swear he was talking to the goblinoid gods," he said. "You know, the usual stuff one might see when they drink strange hag wine that their friend pointedly told them not to drink."

"Well we cannot just leave him here in this state." Aurora paused as she contemplated different ways to get Brutrumukk to follow the rest of the group. She knew the bugbear would likely be able to pull all three of them himself so trying to drag him out was out of the question. It would be easier to get him to follow if it was something he might want. "I think I might know how to get him to follow us..." the said before reciting a simple incantation. A brief puff of smell passed by the group smelling like the stew from the inn, only with a heartier meaty note to it. "I wonder where that smell is coming from?" She asked aloud hoping Brutrumukk would start to try to follow the smell. Quickly Rory cast the spell again to move the smell towards the outside of the hut.

"Gabe I hope your right and we find something that will help sober him up. If not hopefully we can find somewhere he can sleep it off."

Aurora uses prestidigitation to create food oders to try to lure Brutrumukk out of the hut.

"Whatever she's laughin' about must be real funny to keep 'er goin' this long." Brutrumukk commented as the tiny old woman continued to laugh.

"And it seems like she won't be stopping any time soon." Skobeloff said. "While we wait for her to calm down, do you think we could start looking for our two friends?"

"Sure thing." Brutrumukk said as he placed the tiny old woman on the top of his head while keeping a hold on the length of rope he didn't need for the tying. "Who're we lookin' for?"

"They're both drakes like me and Stargaze." Skobeloff described. "One of them is red and goes by the name Shieldwing. The other is call Fellwing. She has black scales."

"Shieldwing an' Fellwing." Brutrumukk said with a nod. "Right right. Now we know who need's findin', we just need to know where to start lookin'."

"I wonder where that smell is coming from?" Aurora spoke up then.

"Smell?" Brutrumukk asked. "What smell?" The bugbear then sniffed the air and quickly picked up the delicious scent of stew. "Oh. That smell." Brutrumukk said as he looked to the door he could smell it coming from.

"That smells like something worth investigating." Skobeloff said. "If our friends aren't wherever it leads, at the very least we'll find something tasty."

"Let's go 'ave a looksee then." Brutrumukk agreed before moving to follow the scent.

Bavlorna's Cottage

During the entire conversation, the miniature version of Bavlorna kept laughing, and is still laughing as Brutrumukk placed her on his head and moved to the hall. After opening the door, Brutrumukk and the party would see the walls of the dank hallway are covered with scores of portraits depicting grumpy, sad, frightened, and angry people. The figures include humans, elves, halflings, bullywugs, and goblins, among others. The portraits are rendered in a variety of mediums, including paintings, etchings, and sketches. All are displayed in gaudy, gilded frames.

A framed oval mirror two feet wide and five feet tall hangs in the middle of one wall.

Brutrumukk Only

When it comes to the portraits, Brutrumukk would see them all moving and talking to each other, smiling and just having casual conversations. They all wave to Brutrumukk and greet him. A fairy somehow manages to flitter between paintings, as though there was a passage for her to navigate behind the walls, and dance with them!

In front of the mirror there is a black drake...

"Ah! Look! There's Fellwing! We found her!" Stargaze cried happily upon recognizing the black drake.

The black drake is standing in front of the mirror, clearly studying it intently. She looks over upon hearing Stargaze's voice, and she greets them, her voice much calmer than Stargaze's, "Ah, Stargaze, Skobeloff. There you are! I'm glad you're alright!"

She then turns her attention back to the mirror and she comments, "There's something odd about this mirror, but I'm not quite sure what it is..."

A goofy grin blossomed on Brutrumukk's face as the portraits greeted him in the hallway. The bugbear returned the greetings with a wave of his own. He then opened his mouth to compliment the fairy's dancing, but Stargaze spoke up on his shoulder before he could.

"Ah! Look! There's Fellwing! We found her!" Stargaze cried happily upon recognizing the black drake who was examining the mirror down the hall.

"Ah, Stargaze, Skobeloff. There you are! I'm glad you're alright!" Fellwing greeted her friends before turning her attention back to the mirror. "There's something odd about this mirror, but I'm not quite sure what it is..."

"Right then." Brutrumukk said. "Join yer friends on me shoulder an' lets see if we can't figure it out." Once Fellwing was settled, Brutrumukk moved to stand in front of the mirror and tried to determine what was up with it. However, Brutrumukk would quickly become preoccupied with admiring his reflection in the mirror. "Oi oi. Who's that 'andsome chap in the lookin' back at me, eh?"

Fellwing clambers upwards to join Stargaze and Skobeloff on Brutrumukk's shoulders. The reflection smiles back at Brutrumukk and greets "Heya Handsome!"

Before Brutrumukk could actually begin his investigation of the mirror, there would be a click and the mirror swings inward to reveal a secret passage.

Stargaze comments, clearly impressed, "A secret passage! Wow, I never would have guessed! Fellwing, Brutrumukk, you two are amazing!"

Fellwing asks, "But where does it lead...?"

Before anyone else could answer her question, the people within the portraits suddenly spring out, and they start doing the conga down the hall and into the secret passage.

"Come join us for the conga! Conga conga conga!"

The party would see Brutrumukk approach the mirror, and notice that their reflections are bereft of expression and emotion. That is...until Brutrumukk smiles into the mirror. His reflection smiles back before a click can be heard and the mirror swings inward to reveal a secret passage.

"A secret passage! Wow, I never would have guessed! Fellwing, Brutrumukk, you two are amazing!" Stargaze exclaimed, impressed by how quickly the puzzle had been solved.

"An' I weren't even tryin' all that 'ard." Brutrumukk said.

"But where does it lead...?" Fellwing asked.

Before anyone else could answer her question, the people within the portraits suddenly sprung out and started doing the conga.

"Come join us for the conga! Conga conga conga!"

"Only one way to find out." Brutrumukk said as the conga line formed up behind him. "Come on everyone! Let's conga!" With that said, Brutrumukk began conga dancing his way into the secret passage.

Jub the Peculiar

Jub gave Aurora a small thumbs-up when she mentioned a delicious smell to Brutrumukk. He wished he'd been quick enough to think of that, but in all fairness, he had been kind of distracted by, well, everything that was going on right now.

Just as it seem like they were moving outside, however, another distraction came along to lead Brutrumukk off course. Surprisingly, this one wasn't a hallucination - at least, not entirely - as in his drunken state, the bugbear seemed to have located a secret passage, and was fully intent on going inside.

Jub called back to the rest of the group, "Err, guys, there seems to be a change of plans... again!"

The bard, smacked a hand with a crisp clap against his forehead. Sighing as he watched the bugbear go the exact opposite direction he wished for him to go.

And Gabriel sighed "For fuck's sake." were his exact words after Jub called back to them.

For a moment it seemed that the plan to use smells to lure Brutrumukk out was going to work. Before she could even use the spell again, the bugbear had wandered further into the hallway toward a mirror. "I guess that's the way we are going now..." She said following with a long exasperated sigh. The elf looked over to Gabe, "I suppose we should try to keep up. I swear next time he drinks a whole cask of mystery alcohol, I'll leave him by himself to deal with the results of his folly." With that said she started to follow Brutrumukk while taking occasional looks at the portraits on the wall.
