New Belton

New Belton is an Old City in the New World. While the origin of the city is proudly described by local historical societies and history books there have always been conflicting accounts. Local legends whisper of pilgrim women who ran off with Native American outcasts and engaged in strange rituals, later to be joined by run slaves and wyrd Irish. Even the name Belton is thought to be a corruption of Beltane. New Belton has always been a place where the down and out can find fertile soil and, within a few generations, find places in the power structure.

Today New Belton has communities from all over the world. The police presence in the city is corrupt and besieged with officers not welcome on the streets of many communities. The community has turned to alternate forms of authority. Organized crime of various kinds provides alternatives, be it the Italian Mafia, the Armenian Mob, or Tongs and Triads.

Kendra has two roommates, and I'm thinking about using this debt on one of them "You are helping someone realize their true potential through your visions. They owe you a debt." I also have an idea about this specific NPC that might tie into Grace's backstory, if @Guardian Angel Haruki would be okay with that.

Debt: Someone is helping Ziniang keep her demons at bay. She owes them a Debt.

Possible NPC: a practitioner of taoist medicine arts, also an investor who owned a bank and a holding company that parented several telco groups, also the venerable elder of the Harmonious Society

So my idea is that Kendra's roommate and old college friend, Trinity, is a journalist working at the same place Grace interviewed for before she was murdered. Kendra may have also used her visions to help Trinity, either helping her get the job or helping her work a specific story that got her some attention.

I think it would be interesting for the same person who killed Grace to be a potential threat to someone Kendra cares about. I don't know if Kendra and Grace would be aware of each other at this point, but it could lead to some interesting plot stuff for the both of them later on.

@rush99999 The mechanics will naturally push you towards corruption. Once you get corrupt enough you can retire, or if you prefer you can retire a character at any time and start a new one. Corrupted characters become villians I should point out.
