@Sanity43217: That's actually more or less what the JAGUAR prototype currently is, albeit there's only one right now but it can effectively fight smaller kaiju.

It might be a good idea to angle for that instead?

I sort of envisioned H.Arm units being smaller than JAGUAR. Probably only a third of the size, but much more agile.
Though I would be happy to play as the JAGUAR pilot, but I thought I saw someone else post interest in that role earlier.

Oh right uh yeah as much as I really want to make a mecha pilot I kind of realized my ideas for that were way too vague and incoherent so I was thinking of trying something else instead. So the JAGUAR pilot position is free I guess.

After being busy for a few days, I've come up with a character concept. He would be a member of Canadian military intelligence, a specialist in kaiju biology and behavior, while still being an actual soldier. His expertise in the field of kaiju would lead him to be poached from the Canadian military by YATAGARASU. Also in his history section I would like to mention two non-Godzilla kaiju. First is an original small kaiju known as Wendigos, essentially the kaiju the character got famous studying. Also I would like to mention Gorgo. It's a British kaiju film I saw as a kid that I left an impression on me. So while waiting to get the go ahead on those two kaiju, I'll begin work on a character sheet which should be up in a day or two.

@Martian: Hmmm. I feel like it's a bit hard to justify why he'd end up in Japan(which has a lot of its own heavy kaiju research), since if anything it'd make more sense for him to go to the US which would be more familiar ground for him anyway if he's studying what's almost certainly a purely North American entity.

As for the kaiju ideas, I want to keep this strictly to Toho monsters and originals, so as to avoid questions on why I'm not including lots of other franchises in the mix which could get a bit messy. The closest to any crossover is King Kong(as referenced in the OP), but he's already a Toho kaiju anyway.

Okay, I'll get rid of the Gorgo stuff. A different take I could do on the character that I just came up with now is instead of my character being Canadian, he's from North Korea. He would still be an expert in kaiju biology and behaviors, but he was a part of the North Korean anti-kaiju division. He believes he's doing a good job in fighting the kaiju, only to learn that North Korea is trying to weaponize kaiju. My character would then be made to try and train smaller kaiju for military use. But with the help of the South Koreans, he would unleash a kaiju in the lab, causing it to be destroyed with no survivors. Except my character who is smuggled to Japan where he is given a new name and made a member of YATAGARASU.

Let me know if that idea can fit or if I should try something else entirely.

Nakajima is of average height for her age (though it's not uncommon for people to mistake her for being younger) at 158 centimeters on the nose. What's not average, though, is her strength. In plain clothes, it becomes apparent how lean and muscular she is.

Personality:
A kind, if somewhat shy, individual, Akko prefers working solo or in small groups. Out in the field, she's all business, though she deals with stress by snarking.

Brief Backstory:
Tatsuako (or "Akko" to her friends and family) grew up out in the country, where her father worked in a small town as police officer. Her father was an avid hunter despite Japan's strict laws, and made a bit of money on the side hunting deer and problem boars for farmers. However, he went missing during a hunting trip when Akko was in middle school. His remains were discovered after several weeks, with investigators eventually ruling that his death was caused by a small kaiju. As time went on, Nakajima joined the JSDF, and was assigned to a special until dealing with smaller kaiju, which are more vulnerable to traditional weaponry than the likes of Godzilla.

Not pushing, but it'll make it easier to implement a lot of the smaller monsters so I figured I'd mention.

Namgung Haneul

• Current Name: Namgung Haneul
• Birth Name: Min Seong
• Age: 34
• Gender: Male
• Appearance: Haneul stands at 5’6’’ with a thin build from the meager food available in North Korea. His skin is quite pale from being locked away in a lab for so long. His face has been surgically altered from when he used to be named Seong. He now has a straight nose, with blue eyes caused by wearing contacts, and his hair that is shoulder length has been dyed a bluish-black in color. Not really one for fashion, Haneul seems to be always wearing a suit when out and about, always wanting to look professional.
• Personality: Haneul was brought up with the notion that he was on the Earth to help others, in his particular case it was the North Korean people. But that stuck with Haneul as he always thought more about others than he did himself. As such he had no problem with being a soldier, dying to protect others. But this self-sacrificial outlook was tempered by an intense need for knowledge. Living in a dictatorship meant that knowledge was kept under lock and key, which may have been the first thing that disillusioned Haneul from the regime.
  Haneul is also a workaholic, putting so much overtime into trying to divine the secrets of captured kaiju. Once he has a task in mind, it is almost impossible to stop him. This need to be of use still affects Haneul, but now he views it as the whole world that he needs to aid. Slowly, Haneul has began to believe that perhaps the best way to survive the existence of kaiju is to live together rather than humanity constantly fighting the giant creatures.
• Skills: Haneul was initially trained as a soldier, making him proficient in hand to hand combat and with firearms. However, those skills are a little bit out of practice as he hasn’t had to use them since he was transferred to the science division. As part of his work as a scientist, Haneul attended state run university where he focused on biology and animal behavior in relation to kaiju. Since then he’s had the chance to examine the bodies of fallen kaiju, learning about various different bodily systems that only appear in kaiju.
  Haneul is also an expert in kaiju behavior, having spent years trying to deduce what leads the kaiju’s actions. His biggest success with this was mapping the projected expansion of a herd of small kaiju in the North Korean wilderness, leading to them being eliminated. As for non occupational related skills, Haneul can speak and write Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, and English. He also works well with animals, which could be do to his studies or the fact that he lived on a state run farm for the first several years of his life.
• Equipment: Messenger bag with a laptop, tablet, smart phone and various notebooks inside. Haneul also has a gun in a holster on his waist.
• Brief Backstory: Born in the city of Pyongyang, capital of North Korea, the child known as Min Seong would be indoctrinated into the regime of Kim Il-sung. The founder of North Korea planned out the lives of all of his citizens, assigning them roles in society. Young Seong would be chosen to become a soldier in the eventual war to retake the south. But while he was still a child, Godzilla, the greatest monster to have ever existed returned, destroying all of Tokyo. This event only heightened North Korea’s paranoia of being attacked. So on March 1st, 1992, Supreme Leader Kim Il-sung announced the formation of RYONG, an anti-kaiju branch of the military named after a legendary dragon of Korean myth.
  While still a child, Seong would have to deal with the death of the Supreme Leader. Succeeded by his son Kim Jong-il, North Korea would enter an era of even greater weapons development. This would include more funding for RYONG. In the years after this Seong would be sent to enter the military. However, his aptitude for science would soon be noted as he was transferred into the military intelligence branch. While there, Seong would take a liking to studying kaiju. This would also be noted as he was sent to join RYONG.
  Seong would get his doctorate in biology and animal behavior from a secret North Korean university. Now a key member of RYONG, Seong was now provided actual kaiju to study, albeit smaller ones. Through years of studying, Seong began to start understanding the behavior of specific kaiju.
  RYONG’s funding would only be increased further when Kim Jong-un took over as Supreme Leader of North Korea. Under this new regime, RYONG was tasked with figuring out how to control kaiju. Seong’s role went from studying the kaiju to fight them to studying so that they can be controlled as a weapon of war. Seong began to ethical issues with his current research.
  He was then approached by South Korean intelligence officers who offered to let him defect. Initially torn between ethics and his homeland, Seong would decide to accept their offer. With the help of these agents, Seong was able to let out the largest kaiju kept at his lab. The monster went on a rampage, destroying the lab. It was believed by the North Korean government that all of the scientists had died.
  However, Seong was whisked away, ultimately ending up in Japan. After many plastic surgery operations, Seong was now known as Namgung Haneul, a half-Japanese, half-Korean scientist. As part of cooperation between the South Korean and Japanese government, Haneul would be recruited by YATAGARASU as a civilian adviser.
