Pirouette Stories Yet Untold

I would like to clarify that if there is character v character interactions/fights it would be done with consent. I would first check with Wraith about Elle taking control of another person's ability before also checking with that person to ensure there's no conflict.

In a setting like this there will be times that characters can overwhelm their opponents if they have the upper hand. In the event that a character can take control of or negate another's ability, it wouldn't make sense for that character not to use that chance if it meant life or death or in the event that it was a fair player v player challenge or training event.

I would also like to mention that in Elle's ability description there is no mention of it affecting animals (yet.) I was thinking that it could be something she develops as she learns to hone and strengthen her ability in the story. At the time Elle is not strong enough to or has the personality trait to take control of another person's mind or parts of their conscious. She can only suggest and charm them into doing what she wants.

While the mind of a bee may be easily influenced by suggestion, I'm guessing that Jo's Bees are a part of her conscious. So you don't have to worry about it happening without Jo's consent.

Edit: This is funny timing

For the record I’m totally cool with it in most cases. That’s a point of significant character drama which is fun for me. All those bottled up feelings knowing that someone else can undermine what Jo considers hers. It is such a driving plot point. The fear of something dear to her being taken, the drive to adapt and find a counter, etc…

Additionally the logic of Elle being able to manipulate Jo’s bees is there. Her bees are controlled by her own physiology which is basically human with some tweaks.

This is your reminder for those who haven't posted this round that you have two days left to get a post in before you get sent to roleplay collections and Wraith has to go knocking on doors for payment.

In the future, I would appreciate it if we left post reminders and notices to the GM.

Finally knocked the second part of that alternate future mini-arc on the head.

For those who missed the first part:

@Hound55 Question: If it's the future (an alternate one, at least), will Blackjack and Co. ever make cameos? Not that you have to, I just think it'd be interesting.

Next one may or may not feature Bean...

Tricky thing is it's a pretty self-contained piece of legal/courtroom fiction where I've got a lot of the beats figured out. But we'll see if anyone else comes up.

I guess I'll get the ball rolling on this.

I won't lie and say I am not pissed that this will end, because I really thought this would be a long-haul RP. However, I understand (especially now) how real life gets in the way and throws a wrench into plans. If I had to choose, I would honestly call it here and be done since I don't want to devote energy to an RP that won't have a satisfying end, but if that is the will of the majority I will do my part. We have already been waiting a while for posts anyway and I don't want to pressure you, Wraith, into getting posts in, especially if you aren't feeling it.

My two cents. Whatever happens, this was a fun group to RP with and I hope we get to do more in the future.

My feelings are similar to Bean. I've enjoyed what we've had so far and think this is a good group and I like the story. But if it's going to end down the line anyway, seems better not to push ourselves into continuing. So, my vote would be to let it end here, but if enough want to continue, I'll stick it out.

I do appreciate you bringing it up now though, instead of struggling against your available free time and posting inertia here or springing the surprise end come September. *shrugs* It is what it is, and fun was had, so I'm not fussed.

My thoughts are like Bean and Nemaisare. If the rp is going to in September and you will be gone. I am in favor of ending it here since playing a rp you know, has a set end date, and knowing the ending will not be a satisfying one. It is not worth it for me. I think it is best to end it here before we get more invested in an rp that will end prematurely and not in a satisfying way. That is my thoughts on it.

It is strange.

There was clearly a lot of effort placed into the front end of setting this all up. But only for it to lead to an assured end from lack of availability. It is a lot to decide it isn’t worth even trying to hang on to but it is your choice.

I do not mind. I can always find other things to join and write. Sad to see something that had a lot of effort come to a sudden end, however.

I will start by saying the attention to detail in constructing this RP and the cultivation of an active player base that was invested in the world and characters to the point we were cheering on every single damn post is a remarkable feat. I haven't loved writing with a community as much as I've enjoyed writing with this community. But, as our thoughts are being asked, I have a few.

Honestly, not that surprised this is how things have turned out. We've had the brakes slammed on us several times after finding a solid groove early on, and it makes sense to end things here where they stand. There's no point in trying to keep this rolling, because there is no momentum. This RP was abandoned before this post was made, and it wasn't abandoned by the players.

I very much enjoyed RPing with everyone here. I loved the characters and the dynamics we were building. Despite the GM packing their toys and going home, I would love to write something of a similar style and vibe one day with you all, but perhaps with less restriction and railroading.

Extremely disappointing, but not unexpected given the past while. I agree with everyone else; end it here, so we can move on rather than circle the drain and waste another three months. Everyone was lovely to role-play with. Good luck with whatever comes next, Wraith.

I'm going to be dead honest here and admit that I did see this coming a mile away.

Frankly, I do enjoy writing with the cast, the setting, etc. It has honestly been fun to write, and PRCU has been one of the first roleplays in a long, long time that I've tossed post after post out on-time or earlier than required. Nevertheless, given the choice of stopping the roleplay now or continuing on until September, I am going to have to agree with the former. Writing towards a story's end is one thing, writing until we hit the inevitable chopping block is another. It takes the wind out of my sails, and I do not have any interest in continuing a roleplay that will be suddenly dropped in a few months, especially prior to any of the actual "meat" of the roleplay is represented in the story (classes, for instance).

Additionally, @webboysurf covers my other qualms with his post above. The brakes on this roleplay have been slammed repeatedly, and as of the last few weeks we've ran straight into a brick wall. Any and all momentum we might've had at this point has completely petered out while we've waited for the time skip post. I understand real life can get in the way of roleplaying, and that this is of course a hobby, but the player base was upheld to consistent deadlines. I know some people had extensions, but truthfully it does leave a sour taste in my mouth to watch everything go up in smoke after weeks of waiting for a post despite upholding my end of what is essentially a "contract".

It is what it is, though. Good luck in whatever comes next, Wraith.

Dickishness on the way out the door ain't really necessary. Just saying.

Beyond the insane amount of work that has gone into this initially, and the added work put in since it started...

And I would like to remind people he did give people a choice as to whether continue for however much free time he still had, rather than taking the easier, more dickish path himself, dropping this on everyone come September and bailing.

I'm also saying this as someone with two kids of his own...

Still, future plans going ahead are in the works in the Discord #Roleplays thread

I mean, he could have just ghosted us if he wanted to. I do get the feelings of upset. It's a good story, a good setting, great cast, and Wraith's put in a lot of work, and we've all been waiting hopeful to keep going. And wanting to get that disappointment off your chest is perfectly reasonable, but real life is something I'm sure we've all seen get in the way of our stories here. It's happened to me plenty, and I know it's always a cleaner, more pleasant finish when people have the guts and courtesy to admit that they're not feeling it anymore or have gotten too busy and just can't keep up, or that they will be in the future, instead of up and vanishing and leaving you hanging.

I know I've been guilty of ghosting people a time or three. I'm not proud of it, but the upset that sometimes gets directed at you when you do admit these troubles can go a long way in making it harder to resist that ghosting temptation the next time... I'm just glad Wraith's given me a fun few months and there's been some great writing to enjoy and that he's been open about the difficulties of GMing and continuing.

Putting in the time to write collaboratively is certainly an agreement and a time investment, but it should in no way be turned into an obligation. It's a hobby, not a job. (no matter how often I wish I could turn it into one... >.> but then I'd probably start hating it...)

I was a bit too snarky, but I'm not going to pretend like the body was still warm when it was pronounced dead.
