One of the Elwets had fired off a fireball, and presumably, since it didn't strike one of the kiddos, it must have struck the surrounding vegetation. Did that leave nothing they could've used for ignition?

Gren managed to dodge out of the way of the Tatzelwurm's venemous phlegm, and jumped up onto one of the lower branches to try and wrestle the monster free from the trunk! The Tatzelwurm tried to find a higher perch---but the branches past that point proved too thin to support its weight! Gren's big hand reached out to try and grab it behind the head.

But in doing so, the Runt might've overlooked one thing: This was not just a monstrous snake.

The Taztelwurm's catlike claws began raking Gren's hand and arm even though it couldn't quite turn its head to sink its fangs into his flesh. The beasty's talons were far sharper than they appeared---painful red rips opened all along the back of Gren's palm and along the sides of his forearm, wherever the monster could find purchase! What's more, as he jumped out of the tree, the Tatzelwurm's coiled tail lashed out to slap him, hard, in the face---it was like getting hit with a leather riding crop, and drew another bloody line across his cheek!

But with the Runt's much greater weight and the force of gravity behind his slam, the Tatzelwurm's snarling face distorted as they slammed into the earth---and a second blow, accompanied by a strange red, crackling glow that surged up Gren's outstretched arm as he raised the monster's body high, triggered the Runt's [Breakthrough]!

The Tatzelwurm's body let out a sickening, meaty crunch as it hit the ground a second time, digging into the earth like a plough head. Its body twisted and writhed, its claws dragging across Gren's arm one last time as its movements slowed...

The enemy was vanquished!

As Lazash sipped the fresh Elwet blood, she would find it none too pleasant. Metallic on her tongue, bitter on the way down, and overall possessing a pungent smell and a strange black-pepper taste that burned the sinuses, it was also warm and thick without a living heart to keep it flowing. However, it did cause a rather interesting urge to bubble up deep in her guts...

While she thought about this decision, the smell of smoke reached her nostrils---the dry stick she'd been using as a drill on the fire plow had produced a thick sprinkling of black ash by this point, and a single glowing ember was producing a thin, curling trail of vapor even as she stopped moving the drill. With some tinder and a few careful breaths, a small fire was soon born!

As she and Grunthor moved to carefully add fuel to the flickering sparks, she used her [Creature Analysis] on her ally and their fallen prey...

Analyzing Creatures...
Orc Runt (Grunthor) - Orc newborns mature quite quickly. A baby orc will generally begin crawling after about 10 weeks, and within four months are fully mobile. By the time human infants are just learning to toddle, Orc Runts are capable of beginning to train and hunt. FAMILIARITY BOOST: Grunthor is small, stringy, and seems grumpy. He's currently injured but seems to be toughing it out.

Elwet (Dead, x3) - A chicken-like creature with antlers. It also has scales instead of feathers. However, it is said that their wings are of little use. Their breast meat is quite fatty, and their eggs have incredibly hard shells. REPEAT BOOST (x2): Elwets can breathe fire using a low-rank elemental skill. They keep their eggs warm by setting fires beneath their nests. Males of this species have more pronounced draconic features and longer tails, though their antlers are somewhat smaller than those of females. They fiercely maintain their territorial boundaries by driving out other small predators, and will expand it by acquiring a harem.

Vola might know the theory, but she hasn't really had much reason to actually try to learn that skill. At best she might try to slam our two sharp rocks together to make a spark or rub two sticks together, but that could take a while. ^-^; She could try her skill, see if that might work? But it's not likely since she doesn't have any magic skills yet... Though, if it comes down to it, Gren and Vola didn't really make it far from camp, so while lets say Gren skins and cleans the kill, Vola could run back to camp with a branch, 'borrow' some fire and come back? But only after she thoroughly doctored Gren, her big sister instincts taking over XD

My notes have the description "A short, leafy tree that usually doesn't grow higher than six or seven feet, but its trunk will put out many smaller branches that may reach up to nine or ten feet. The larger branches, usually near the bottom or middle of the tree, will produce round green nuts with thick shells." So I'll say yes, it's deciduous and has broad leaves somewhat like an oak or maple tree!

Might take Gren a while, even he doesn't have knowledge on skinning animals from a past life. If you want him to fillet fish or bird he could probably manage since he has cooked before, but he doesn't exactly encounter many snakes or cats in his mortal life.

Plus he's going to need some of that sistering because Gren may be an orc now, but he's also a runt and just got the dickerings claws and whipped out of him, so he's probably going to be spending a good while crying like a baby.

XD
