The Dark Beyond: Adventures in Candyland (Prequel)

“A hidden corridor - 30 feet long - has been discovered close to the main entrance of the 4,500-year-old Great Pyramid of Giza…”

Was the printout in a TOP-SECRET folder slapped on the table, the kitchen already charged with an archeologist’s passion in the de Villiers' household.

What was initially going to be a family trip to take care of the Louvre’s request to look into this ‘Void of the Great Pyramid of Giza’ would instead turn into the de Villiers’ greatest discovery, and worst fears. The Great Pyramid of Giza had been well-trodden by tourists around the world, but none knew if the secrets it held just out of sight, buried behind granite stone for over 4,000 years…

This family trip with the head of the household, Thierry Claude de Villiers, his wife, Sabrina Lennox-de Villers, and his three children, Aurélie, Theo, and Cosette, would shake the very foundations of what it meant to be a family.

With evil lurking just out of sight, the feud between the Louvre and HiveMind would be born out of this excavation, the lure of treasure and secrets untold too much to bear for the world’s greatest ravenous seekers of knowledge.

Would the family make it home in one piece? Or would this close the chapter on the tragic tale of the dark, untold story of the de Villiers family?

The story of ‘Adventures in Candyland’ exist 7 years before the events of ‘The Dark Beyond’. The current state of the world is spiraling out of control, where air pollution is on the rise, and the demand for cleaner energy sources is pulling the world apart in a heated debate against coal and oil sources, to other alternatives. At this point in time, the existence of dark energy is not universally known.

Occupation: Sabrina is a forensic archaeologist for the Louvre. Works with her husband, Thierry, researching/locating artifacts and lost civilizations.

Personality: Sabrina is a very driven woman. With so few women in the archaeology field, Sabrina has had to fight tooth and nail for her position of Head Forsenic for the Louvre.

Defining Trait: Creative

Backstory:
Sabrina and her brother, Sebastian, are the only two remaining members of the Lennox family. Their family has had a history of being tied to power both political and mystical. At a young age, Sabrina found her calling in sketching. She could create the most amazing pictures in minutes with a blank sheet of paper and a piece of charcoal.

The Lennox family is one with great wealth with Sebastian currently running the family trade business. Sabrina, being much younger, was allowed more freedom to choose her path in life. By the time she turned sixteen, she was properly fluent in various languages such as French, German, Latin, Mandarin, and Greek. Driven by both her family's affinity to historical artifacts and her love of creating something out of seemingly nothing, Sabrina joined up with the Louvre as an intern after graduating with her Master's degree in History and Myths. She worked her way up through the ranks, along the way meeting her husband, Thierry.

Currently, Sabrina has three children with Thierry. Cozette, being their youngest.

Skills:
Sabrina has a wide knowledge of both historical and mythical stories and artifacts. She can put a skeleton back together in under five minutes if she has all the proper bones, including phalanges and teeth. She does have martial arts skills, although she prefers a gun. Sabrina also isn't afraid to use torture techniques to get information.

Inventory: Her red leather-bound sketch pad with charcoal sticks. Her cross-body brown canvas bag, not only does it hold a flashlight, and extra sketch pencils, but also her 9mm pistol, a set of daggers, and enough kid snacks to fill a vending machine.

7 years would make Thierry 40 here, right? And Sabrina's 30? Damn, man can’t pick in his own dating pool huh?

If Nick (23,16) is supposed to be younger than the kids, (cosette 16, brother 17, my char 18?) then isn’t 30 a bit too young?

@Days Keep in mind the prequel is like a decade before our other RP. Therefore Thierry and Sabrina are younger here than they are in the other one. Cosette, your character, and the brother are all in their mid to late twenties in our other RP.

Yeah, but Thierry is 46 in "current" time, and Nick 23.

In the prequel, it's 7 years earlier.

The story of ‘Adventures in Candyland’ exist 7 years before the events of ‘The Dark Beyond’.

Which makes Thierry 39, and Nick 16 in this RP. (Even though Nick is not in this one, I know)

Lexi said that Nick is younger than all his kids.
So if Nick is younger than Thierry's kids, it would mean his kids are 16 and up, making my char, the oldest, 18 at youngest if Sabrina had three kids in a row, every year, 19 or 20 probably more realistically.

If the kids are in their mid to late twenties in the Dark Beyond, in 7 years, the kids are 16-20 somewhere, now. Which would make a 30 year old mother now of a 20 year old child a bit odd, right?

I'm fine with my character (the oldest) being from a previous marriage situationship, too. For context, she is going to be the one to make Thierry's life difficult, but she has high affection for her siblings, especially Cosette.

For this, Thierry goes from being Thierry Claude James de Villiers to just Thierry Claude de Villiers. When he marries Nick, he takes on Nick's middle name, James, and Nick takes on Thierry's middle name, Claude. Instead of them exchanging last names. This will be in my updated cs, but figured I'd mention it now anyways. '>3>

That sounds just fine to me! Man's a player, what can I say, rofl.

I do like math, so, I present options for easiness.

Option 1: Only the middle and youngest child are Sabrina's.
The youngest Sabrina realistically could be in this case is 37/38.
The middle child would be Sabrina's oldest; 17/18 years old. (Sabrina got pregnant at 20)
Which would make Cosette 16/17, born about a year later.

My character would be older, from Thierry's previous situationship. Like 20 or something. It would mean Thierry got her at 19, with another woman. #unplanned #oopsie

Option 2: All kids are Sabrina's.
The youngest Sabrina realistically could be in this case is 39/40.
My character would be Sabrina's oldest; 19/20 years old. (Sabrina got pregnant at 20)
Middle 17/18 and Cosette 16/17.

Personally I like option 1 the most, brings in extra drama for the rebel oldest, and more reason for her to make Thierry's life hard.

The moral of the story is that Thierry is bad at birth control. Especially if he knocked up a girl at 19 himself, to get my character from the previous situationship, and 20 with Sabrina.

I was thinking that even though @Days character isn’t biologically hers, she sees that child as hers. Also, Sabrina is highly influenced with Lara Croft. Hence the family fortune.

This seems logical, as she would be like only 2 years older than middle child. I'm not sure yet when she would hve come into Thierry's/Sabrina's care as opposed to her mother's, but I'm thinking her mother may be a foreigner that went back to her country? And either my character wanting to stay in France or the mom basically saying here, Thierry, take her, bye peace.

Whoops! I imagine Cosette to be about 17 in The Dark Beyond, which would make her 10 in Adventures in Candyland. Is there anyway that could possibly work? :)
