[OOC] War of the Magi [OPEN]

A war between Humans and Magi, people who possess magical abilities. Using their ingenious technology powered by the souls of the Magi, Humans are leading the victory in the war but it isn't over yet. Magic Society has begun a school to train Magi of all ages and species for the war in secret, away from Human Eyes.

So, this is an Academy roleplay, which will later become a war against Humans and their Magi-powered technology. Magi can be anything from Dragons, Griffins, Humans with magic, etc.

Magi's Arcane Academy

Academy Rules

1: You must be at class on time, if not you will get a warning, three warnings until you are punished, though you shall not be taken off the island. If it carries on, then you will be excluded.

2: Do not use your powers outside of the training room, and do not fight other students unless a staff member is supervising.

3: No vandalism!

4: What the master goes at all times!

5: You may leave the campus and explore the island however will do expect you back before midnight

2 No arguing, fighting or anything else in the OOC, feel free in IC, your characters can be as mean as you want.

3: At least a paragraph, please.

4: Two types of magic maximum, the more you have, the harder it is to control them. Teachers has Three powers.

5: You can be as old as you like. However, the older you are, the more likely it will be that this is your second or third or fourth year. Etc etc. Either that or you could make a teacher if you ask me.

Appearance: When not wearing her skin, she looks like an average human woman with long black hair, dark brown eyes, and pale skin with slight freckles. Her face is angular and her stature is short, about 5' 6". She commonly wears a dark blue cotton Irish-style dress with a silver Celtic Knot brooch clasping a dark green cape over her shoulders. She also wears a silver necklace with a Celtic tree of life pendent on it and black slip-on shoes. Has her seal coat within her school satchel which she keeps a firm grasp on at all times.

When wearing her seal skin, she looks like an average Atlantic harbor seal with a dark grey/black spotted back and a whiter belly.


Personality: She's a cautious sort, seeking to analyze the room and know what's going on before making any decision. Knowledge is power after all, and she wants to know all she can so that she's trapped in a situation that she can't win. It causes her to be prone to being a wallflower, especially since she's prefers to not broadcast the fact that she's a selkie. But she does want to make a difference in the world and make it so that humans will no longer be able to hurt selkies or any other race ever again.

Bio: Ariana grew up with her parents and siblings in a traditional traveling selkie clan, following their seal herd and coming up onto the seashore every seven months in order to not lose the use of their legs. All her life, she grew up with the warnings to always guard her skin and of what men would do to her if they had it. But of course as a young kid, the warnings seemed mere tales. There came a day when she wandered too far and mislaid her skin, only for a man to come to claim it and her. But before he could, her elder sister, Patricia, tackled the man and told Ariana to grab her skin and run. And so she did, near out of breath as she told the rest of the clan. Several of the man went to try to rescue Patricia, but they were too late. All trace of them was gone, aside from the necklace she had been wearing which had been cast upon the ground.

Ariana blamed herself for what happened. And when she found that she had developed magical powers, she vowed that she would hone her powers and either find her sister and rescue her or find the man that took her and have get justice for her. And so now she finds herself at the academy, seeking how to move forward from here.

Sentimental Attachment: The necklace she wears had once been her sister's favorite. Also she has an understandable attachment to her selkie skin which if someone else grabs it, they gain power over her.

Weapon: A bronze leaf-blade short sword imbedded with a green emerald in the hilt, one well cared for and handed down in the family for generations and gifted to her as she left for the academy

Question. Can I be a once teacher, turned janitor because of some accident or incident scrambled his mind? I'm thinking a goofball who all the staff just reluctantly accepts is there. His presence, a nonscience, but his past history, prior to insanity, makes him begrudgingly respected.

EDIT: Better yet, can he be a pointless janitor? My thinking here would be that the magical school cleans itself.
