Hey! You could do both, though the bar owner may fit a bit better if they're a mafia boss as well... it's possible to be connected to crime without being a mafia boss, but you'll miss out on directing and using your faction, and collecting/building income.

Yeah that works. You can also make NPCs for anyone relevant to forward your story as well. I can see the biker gang working really well.

Very glad you like it! I'm leaning towards mysterious powers, and not really magic directly in the traditional sense. It's certainly magical powers, but they are highly specialized. No other races besides human, but if you have a shape-shifter or werewolf, or someone that has a changed appearance, that would work!

I'm somewhat interested in this, as I do like mafia-related stories.

Though I am thinking of a lounge singer character of sorts... of course I recognize there would have to be some sort of crime-related background for her. Perhaps she is an informant for anyone who needs it... cops or robbers.
