Threw in a short post just now. Seems Ylva and Vanja share a liking for cruel, but innocent pranks. Pretty sure that there's no smallpox on the ship. They could probably create it with the core, but its probably best not to do so. Not sure how well easy it is to create living things with it. (Gen. Landry created plants, but...)

Captain Black, you should know that Halion will more than likely activate the self destruct on those ships before he allows the Tau'ri to command them.

That is not a guaranteed method of preventing ship theft. Even if he orders his crews to do it in time (Goa'uld ships don't have remote self destructs - they change hands often under the reign of the System Lords and that would just be asking for trouble) the self destruct takes time. With access to the engineering core, it can be thwarted. Proper codes are the easiest way, but when you have a Goa'uld on hand to re-arrange crystals, that will work too.

The only known remote-controlled self-destruct was on an asgard ship, and that may have been installed specifically to be used remotely.

Security-wise, you would never install a self-destruct system that can be triggered from outside the ship/facility/base/whatever. Its far too easy for someone to break through the safety protocols. On smaller vessels like Al'kesh or Tel'taks, these systems, even if somehow activated, can easily be deactivated locally.

That is making the fatal mistake that the pilots intend to remove themselves from the ships. This would be the equivalent of a kamikaze run, the pilot may die but his family will live. Or at least that is what they will think anyways.
