Well, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this damn APC anymore.

Couple of questions Brovo.

Is the giant fleshy beanstalk in front in regards to the APC, or in front of the APC from our characters perspective. Essentially is it between us and the APC, or past the APC?

Also, what direction is the APC facing? Considering the smooth man apparently slipped round to the other -side- of the APC, and the wolves are attacking the front, I assumed we were moving towards it with it facing side on because you said he was attacking the door. Is the door at the side of the APC then? or at the back? Wouldn't that mean the smooth man was alongside the wolves and therefore visible if he went to the opposite side, aka the front of the APC?

As everyone keeps telling me how lethal you are I'm going to treat this like Arena, and anything that's not clear as crystal is a problem. It's possible I've just misread the situation, but I'm not finding these things completely clear.

To clarify, I believe we're moving towards an APC at an angle of either - or / in relation to our characters. There are two wolves eating the bonnet of said APC, and a smooth man hacking at a door on its right side (closest to us) who has just jumped over to the other side (left side.) While our characters apparently stand around like idiots and let him talk to us I might add (which is where I'd be interrupting with a shotgun blast to the face, if this were Arena, but I'm guessing that's not OK here.)

Is this all correct?

This is important because I don't understand how walking around the APC would make it any more likely the wolves would spot us. If anything, we're just as visible walking towards the APC from our current position, and at least walking behind it would put the APC as an obstruction. to their vision.

It turns out that post is going to wait until tomorrow. Shitty day at work means I'm in far too foul a mood to post anything worthwhile.

Edit: I did, however, start writing the Kiku Kill-scene. It is...brutal, to say the least.

So, in the South-West group, it's taken fifteen minutes for them to be dropped off and sprint into the fog.

The rest of us need to catch up. ;]

@Melonhead: Excuse typos, at work.

#1: Post clearly states: "in front of the APC"

#2: Most APC's are back loaded. It's simply the most practical way to design a metal box with soldiers in it. Still, I will keep in mind to mention such details in the future.

#3: Knowing where the wolves are (attacking front of APC) and knowing where chainsword bastard is, (back attacking door) we can deduce you are viewing the side of the APC via geometry. Through extrapolation, we can deduce that even if you don't know where the door is, you know that if the chainsword beastie went around a side of the apc and you were viewing the front or back, you would still be able to see him. Therefore, for him to vanish from sight without chameleon, you would have to be viewing the side of the APC.

You have all the details you need mate. Just didn't read it correctly and I didn't clarify that standard APC configurations put the door on the back.

Hope that clarifies enough.

Well, I still can't say for sure I understand what you mean by in front of the APC, because that means two things where I'm from.

Ahh, let me try to clarify further then.

[Object] In front of [entity] means the object is ahead of the entity, in front of, directly before it.

Ex: Sam is in front of Sarah, means that Sam is ahead of Sarah, in her forward facing view.

The tower is in front of the APC, and is in its way. Ahead of it.

Alright, that clarifies it. The problem was probably still residing with not knowing exactly which way the APC was facing.

He's clearly referring to the 'Latine loqui ignem ovibus' breed. *That is latin speaking fire sheep* :p

On a semi-related note. I had thought Daniel might have already guessed Bruce had some understanding of latin given he called his mech Ignis Dei. The Fire God.

There is a difference between the odd word of Latin as embelishment; a name that you might have inherited, for example, and spouting meaningful phrases

South-East Block Mission

I'm at a crossroads at what I'm doing. My character is naturally going to be drawn to Carolyn, but right about now, my biggest perk is being really fast and hard to pin down. If you need space cleared or the enemy off of you, tell me in here. I got some grenades if need-be, but that massively depends on heavier fire not hitting the thing and drawing its attention back off of me if I do so. As-is, it looks like our Eira and Roman are closest to the Goleyeith in the most immediate danger.

As it looks at the moment, we don't have fire to see if we can cook this thing... But we have an High Explosives expert on a higher floor in our group. I don't think we're going to do much more than be able to blind this thing if we can't start blowing chunks out of it all at once. That pretty much knocks out most of our capabilities unless we can get high-powered machinery. Bullets don't seem to be doing much at all against it given its regeneration. At the moment, the only slight weakness we've laid witness to is that it has a whole lot of eyes and those at least aren't regenerating.

A note on the Goleyeith we might experiment with given the fact we do appear to have high explosives... We do know it takes its victims into its body. We have no idea, however, if it actually differentiates between dead and living matter. I'd almost be of the idea that if we have a corpse laying around at some point, we could rig it as a meat bomb to chuck to the thing and see if a massive interior explosion might do some real harm.

Aside from taking apart the Goleyeith, we have a whole bunch of people to keep out of danger now. A named pilot, a mission objective and a whole bunch of survivors. I'm not sure how well any of them are holding up or if they even have weapons anymore and we're going to need someone offering them actual protection, I believe. Ya know, that way we aren't absolutely leaving their fates in Brovo's hands. I mean, not that I don't tooootally trust him. Quite the opposite. I trust him to wait until we get a little comfortable and ignore something for what appears big and dangerous... and then punish us brutally for it. xD

After the survivors have reached cover, how about jerry rigging the abandoned tank before luring the Goleyeith into the middle. When it's within proximity, Wolfe (High Explosives Expert) could unleash a rocket and detonate the tank. If the tank's got still got a tank of fuel and left-over munitions, the explosion would damn near cook the Goleyeith alive >8].

I don't believe we have access to any rockets even with HE experts...

On another note, though, the tank was already running out of fuel before everyone was escaping, due to a leak I believe it was. And there's no guarantee on munitions either.

Well ... Heyitsjiwon's last post mentioned that his character was carrying an RPG and that he considered using it against the Goleyeith, but hmmm ... you're right about the limited fuel and the fact that the RPG's a Rocket Propelled Grenade as opposed to a clear cut Anti-Tank Buster. Still, it's worth an attempt! The explosion, big or small, might give some breathing room for an evacuation of sorts.

The only other counter-measure I could think of besides your previous suggestions would be for Carolyn to draw its attention while the the others in South-East and Central Complex Sectors could concentrate small arms fire on its joints, eyes, or head. While the Goleyeith's preoccupied, this might give the survivors time to retreat!

As it stands right now, my biggest worry is Roman. He's pretty much defenseless, and along with Eira, stuck in an alley. At this point, I'm uncertain as to whether or not this alley has an exit.

Now, my original plan for my next post was to get Roman to look for an exit while I shoot at the Goliath and retreat. The shooting was to keep it down, as worked before, while Roman does his search. However, now that I'm on the same level as it, it might just go ahead and attack me—I'm also uncertain as to the width of this alley, and whether the Goliath could fit in it.

Unless it comes to me trying to hold off the Goliath for Roman, however, getting Eira out of there shouldn't be a problem. With the jump jets, I can always just fly out and join the apartment. I considered taking Roman on Mercy's back or something, but that would be pretty risky and I don't want to risk Roman.

So, if Roman goes on a search while I make a last stand, hopefully he'll find an exit, and we can make an escape. I am willing to take that risk to give the tankers more time, if that's what the group thinks best. Or, we could get a diversion, leaving Eira a little safer, but giving the tankers less time to escape, and look for an exit in the back of the alleyway regardless.

Also, on the subject of bodies, I believe we have a fresh Vampyr corpse that would do quite nicely.

The obvious answer to this conundrum is to shoot the Goleyeith with Sam's HE Missiles of Enlightenment.
