Hmmmm... I may have to move without people and unfortunately push forward, Grim's control of the severed alicorn horn is a vital part of my plot direction, and if he continues to be absent I may have to act on my own accord and take it regardless. I sent him a message about three weeks ago regarding this and I still haven't gotten a response out of him, so I am going to give him another week to appear so we can sort this out or Astral is mysteriously going to lose that horn to metal vagrants whilst he is sleeping. I know it isn't approved of, but its one of the few ways I can work around it -and people leaving me in these situations is beginning to seriously irritate me. Dawns absence too has effected how Scalpel's work goes as he no longer has a possible route of access to Arcon's Library -given Dawn hasn't posted in over two months, I can't see it being resolved anytime soon- which is part of why the dream god is appearing in Scalpels mind.

Basically, if they don't appear soon I will act accordingly in this interest of my own story, because these month long disappearances are really causing huge technical difficulties. Its infuriating.

Dawn - 12 hour shifts in the shop he owns, as well as moving these past ~2 weeks. He hasn't had much time for anything. He should be getting a bit more time by now, though, since he gets a different schedule if what he's telling me still holds true.

As for Grimdark... I have no defense for him, or explanation. Radio silence all around from him :/

Also, if Grimdark's character doesn't show up with his horn, then Silver won't get it. Simple as that. One of the rules were No Godmodding, so I will have to veto that one simply because you would take control of someone else's character without permission, and quite extensively so. I hope you understand.
You could always go with the idea that the guy who was supposed to deliver it was overrun by rampant cultists or something.

Thats the thing, I don't know whether Astral actually has it or not, it seems he was supposed to have it, but its never been clearly stated. I guess I could have that guy overrun, but what if Grim returns and says that it contradicts what he laid out, then I'll be in some difficulty. Frankly Kap I am getting to the end of my tether, and I am beginning to lose respect for some of the more stringent rules simply due to being forced to twiddle my thumbs for weeks. I can understand Dawn's situation however- frankly I'd just like it if he kept us up to date on whats actually happening, and he is more separated from me due to the plot ties not being set up so its easier to work around his absence.

Anyway, Grim will hopefully return soon, otherwise we'll probably have to enforce this part of the rules:

"we’ll try to work around your character in absence, but if you up and vanish, their life expectancy will decrease suddenly. It is surprising how often people die via stray arrows to the knee…"

Anyway, it may end up that that person who was supposed to deliver it has been killed, and the horn will fall into my possession regardless, but I'm gonna give Grim another week to just appear, otherwise its parcel delivery stallion mutilation time.

Is there anything else that Scalpel could use as a substitute? Say, an artifact or rare ingredient that would help his research along towards his goal?

Honestly? yeah I could make something up on the spot, but I prefer preexisting artifacts of power rather than some Deus Ex Machina device which appears for plot convenience, that always struck me as a slightly tacky option to a problem, plus the Alicorn horn is useful as it would have helped tighten the universe up a little more and make it feel less disparate.

I can see how it would be an issue from a storytelling perspective. But I can try to accommodate by writing something up - a did have the idea of having one of the Scholarship contact Sliver Scalpel - let's just say one of the Directors is more in it for the "Knowledge" part than for the "Save Ponykind" part. In fact, said Professor wouldn't bat an eye at the type of experiences being conducted. And they have a vast collection of things, so it wouldn't be too far out of the question that they may have something Scalpel would need. Maybe not as powerful as an Alicorn horn, but perhaps something to wet the Doctor's appetite.

I would be quite happy with that, it'd give me some way I could progress plotwise as well as gain access to some valuable information, It also saves me from disrupting Grim's train of plot in regards to Astral and allows me to wait a fair bit longer for him to pop back in- which hopefully it will. Just tell me when you want to set that up Tai and I'll be happy to oblige, been a while since I interacted characterwise with the other peeps anyhoo, so this could be good.

... Why do I see Scalpel and Silver Sweeper having hilarious dialogue with one another if they ever met, one a giant nihilistic snarkasaurus, the other a light bubbly Alicorn obsessed with cleanliness.
