She saw him walk in, but said nothing. She would watch, for now. It was a man, wearing a fedora. She collected herself, she couldn’t let this man see her in the sorrowful state she had been in for three days now. Ever since she had killed herself all she could do is cry. Tetsuya hated her. She couldn’t live with that, and apparently she couldn’t even die knowing this. She was dead, but wasn’t at the same time. She glanced towards the body the man was inspecting. That was her. Emi.
“Are you just going to stare all day, or is there a reason you are in our home?” Emi spat at the intruder.
"Hmm? You said "our home"? You don't...smell like you belong here." Kenji realized he was talking to an animated voice, and so turned in the direction of its source. It sounded soft and feminine...putting it all together, Kenji smiled as he took off his fedora and bowed a little. "You must be the poor soul with a knife in her back. Over there, right? Right here? Such a tragic fate...truly terrible you had to die so young."
Kenji took a few steps forward where he guessed the voice was. "Let me guess, broken heart? Rejection? Called you crazy? Lovers are usually blind these days...I'm sure whatever he said, he didn't mean it. There, doesn't that make you feel better!" This was the scent from before. The one with a pungent odor to it.
How did he know all that? Is this god? Or an angel? Maybe its true. He didn’t mean it when he said she was insane. He didn’t mean it when he said leave. Maybe just maybe. I need to go see him. I need to make sure! Maybe was all she needed. As long as there was a shred of hope she could go on. She giggled. The joy she felt was immense. And it was all thanks to this man! I need to thank him, but right now I have something more important to deal with. Tetsuya might still be mine! She couldn’t do anything but smile. She needed to see Tetsuya. “Excuse me sir, could you wait here a moment? There’s something I need to check on!” And with that she skipped out of the room to the basement door, forgetfully leaving the door open in her rush.
"Hmm? Running off so soon?" Kenji watched the girl disappear down the stairs to the basement in curiosity. After several long moments, he quietly followed her to what appeared to be well...a basement. Something interesting about it though, was the fact that the first smell from before was stronger now. A glint in Kenji's eye signified what he already knew to be true. A fresh new Yokai. Which meant....yep there it was. The body was as dead as a doornail. Recent too. The demon hung back in the shadows as he watched the scene before him in amusement.
"Looks like he died down here strapped up like a vegatable. Guess she really is a fruitcake. Heh, so now. What the hell's gonna happen next? I wonder...."
From his spot in the corner he saw the girl, that evil, wretched girl skip down the stairs. Skip, like this was a game. She killed him. Left him in that chair for what seemed like years. He wasn’t sure if he died from blood loss from his wrists, or if it was dehydration. It didn’t really matter because either way, he was dead. The majority of the time of his new life he watched his body and looked at his parents and cried. Eventually, he just couldn’t anymore. Now he just sits in the corner and thinks about that girl. Oh the things he would do to make her suffer. As she came closer he glared at her, his gaze was so sharp it would seem like he would pierce right through her. Even so she came closer. “Leave me alone,” Tetsuya said, “haven’t you caused me enough pain already.”
“Oh Tetsu!”, Emi exclaimed, “I’m so glad you’re still here! I was really nervous you were gone! I know what you said before was a joke but it was still mean. I forgive you nonetheless, don’t worry. I’m just so glad we can be together now!” She smiled at him.
Oh what I would give to whipe that smirk off that bitch’s face. Tetsuya had to admit it was hard to hang onto sanity with all he had been through but the one thing keeping him from losing it was getting his revenge on this girl cuddled beside him. For now, he’d play into her games. He’d be anything she wanted. He would hold back his urges, just so he could tear her heart out, then kill her. “Oh Emi! Thank god you’re here! Of course I was joking. I’m so happy we can be together as well.”
He looked up and saw a man descending the staircase, he was wearing a fedora, and had a knowing smirk on his face. Who the hell is that?
Kenji locked eyes with Tetsuya at that moment, a passing of common understanding flashing between them. "Hey kid." He casually walked down the stairs and stood over him, right beside Emi. His expression was that of an innocent smile, one that sought to simply help the boy in any way he could. "Sorry about the rough landing. Looks like you two had some sort of falling out, but I'm glad that's over. See, I can't bear to see two lovers fight." He lifted his fedora slightly to gaze upon Tetsuya with his mismatched eyes.
"Tetsu, I heard her call you? I can assume that's short for Tetsuya? You're probably wondering who I am. The name's Kenji Nagato. Pleased to meet you. You're also probably guessing who or rather what I am. I'm sure you can smell me by now. All Yokai can." He grinned as he looked between the two kids. "See, you could call me God. Call me an angel, demon, or maybe even the Devil himself. But I'd be sorely lying if I answered to any of those. Well, maybe not one of them...."
Kenji bent down now to peer closer to Tetsuya's face. "Sorry to say kid, but I'm your guardian now. You're dead Tetsuya. And so is your girlfriend. Together in death. Isn't that romantic?"
“Oh it is really romantic isn’t it Tetsu! It’s just you and me now! Forever and ever!” Emi said, basically brushing off all of what Kenji said. She only had eyes for one person. The love of her life.
“Nice to meet you Mr. Nagato,” Tetsuya said. He had been wondering about the smell, question answered he supposed. “I’m Tetsuya Moto, and this beautiful girl to my right is Emi Himura.” He could barely get the words out, they seemed foul, like eating something rotten but he pushed them out nonetheless. He saw her blush and bashfully look away. This is too easy. I’m sorry though Emi, it won’t be forever. He felt gross after apologizing to her, even if it was in his thoughts, he was anything but sorry. “But, what was this about a gaurdian? And yokai?” So that’s what we are, I just figured ghosts. Makes sense I guess. This guy for all his jokes still gave Tetsuya a creepy vibe, like he was just as off his rocker as Emi was. He needed to be careful around both of them.
Kenji sighed as he shrugged with indifference. "Yeah, all that technical stuff isn't really my department. I never do get those things right anyway. But if you come with me, I can gurantee that all your questions will be answered." Standing up, he reached out a hand for Tetsuya to take. "As for the whole guardian bit, don't think about it too much. Like I said before Tetsuya, you're, uh, dead. Like flatline. That kind of dead." The demon turned around and noticed the lumps of cold flesh for the first time on the floor, just a few feet away from the staircase. "Your parents I take it?"
Pulling Tetsuya up, Kenji tilted his fedora downwards to hide his gaze. "You've been given a blessing Tetsuya my friend! You've lived on, cheated through death! I'm sure you wouldn't want the fruition and love of your parents to go to waste. Why sit here and rot on the past...when I can give you a new purpose. A second chance." He glanced at Emi briefly as he said that. "For both of you. Now then. Mind escorting us to the exit? This is your house after all."
He ignored the comment about his parents that the fedora clad man had made. Cheated death though? He almost wished he could have stayed dead. He couldn’t really trust this Kenji, but he supposed following him was better than just sitting in this house with her, maybe he could work it to his advantage. I mean what else could happen to him, as Kenji pointed out, he was already dead. “Yes, of course! After me.” he said. Leading them out of the basement through the rooms to the door, he thought about what was in store for him. What could all this mean? Where were we going? To much of this was unanswered. He heard Kenji and Emi talking behind him. What are those two talking about behind me? It was too quiet to hear, no matter how much he strained, so he gave up and led on.
He got to the doorway leading outside and said,”It’s your turn to lead now Mr. Nagato.” Mr. Gaurdian.
As Tetsuya went ahead to lead the way Kenji causally reached forward to tap Emi on the shoulder. Motioning her to walk closer to him, he kept his voice into a low whisper. "Well now Miss Emi, it looks like you two are just as lucky as any regular couple! But, I can see there's still some tension and sparks here and there." He frowned to evoke sadness as he pointed at Tetsuya's back. "Of course, I wouldn't know about the grand schemes of divine love...but like I said, I simply can't stand to see two lovers who are obviously meant for each other harbor such bad blood."
Kenji shook his head in disapproval of the entire situation. "No, no, that simply won't do...and I'm sure you've faced too many hardships and pain to give up now Miss Emi. Hmm, tell you what. I'll help you win him over forever. He'll be begging to be showered in your love! Free of charge, straight from the bottom of my own heart! Except...not really. All you'd have to do is, eh, well, nothing too big I assure you. Just to follow my word for the time being. That's all. A girl like you surely deserves more than what you have. Eveyone needs to be loved, right?" Leaning in close to Emi's face, the demon's eyes shined for mere moments before giving her a wink.
Walking outside the house now, Kenji placed his hands in his pockets, tipped his fedora forward, and led the two new recruits back to the Tsubasa Camp site. "Right. Best to get a move on little ones. Say goodbye to your old lives now!"
"Hmm, that's not bad at all. Now then...let's see how this all plays out. Heh, I do find this so very interesting...."
It wasn't long before the trio reached the mighty gates of the Tsubasa Clan....only to see a certain spider demon storming off towards their own direction. Kenji lifted his hat to steal a better look as he raised an eyebrow. "Leaving so soon Miss Erai?" He smirked. "Or were you perhaps out searching for little old me?"
As they pulled up to the gates of the Tsubasa Clan or at least thats what Kenji had called it. Emi’s mind was racing. He guaranteed we could be together! Me and Tetsu! Just for one little favor! It seemed too good to be true, but frankly she didn’t care. All that mattered was the boy next to her, and keeping him there. If that called for some outside help, maybe, just maybe she would agree.
They walked up to a mansion, Kenji had some banter with a woman walking out, and directed them inside. They entered into a grand hall where a black haired man was sitting. It looked like the man had just gotten out of the bath. So indecent. Emi thought as she turned away from him.
“Are you the glorious leader Mr. Nagato told us about?” Tetsuya asked as they got closer.
